This project represents a continuous process, where the spaces of the home are being investigated and questioned. The ambition of the project is to analyse the image and the idea of the home, convinced that there is not an objective truth about how we are supposed to live within the home. The concept of the home is a social construction, where the nuclear family is the norm. The reality shows something different. How can we create spaces that are more flexible and generous in their use? The process is an investigation of how architectural objects can generate a housing-typology that is more free and open for the residents to interpret. A vast area divided by architectural components creates a continuous embroidery of specific spatial situations, zones and compositions. The aesthetics of everyday life arises against an abstract background. / Projektet representerar en oavslutad arbetsprocess där hemmet och bostadens rum undersöks och ifrågasätts. Projektets ambition är att analysera och utvärdera idén om bostaden, med en övertygelse om att det inte finns någon objektiv sanning för hur vi ska leva. Bostaden som vi ser den är en social konstruktion, där kärnfamiljen är normen för bostadens utformning. Verkligheten visar något annat. Hur kan vi skapa rum som är mer generella i sin användning? Processen är en undersökning kring hur arkitektoniska objekt generar en bostads-typologi som är mer öppen för tolkning. En öppen yta definierad av arkitektoniska komponenter, skapar ett oavslutat broderi av specifika rumsliga situationer, zoner och kompositioner. Det vardagliga livets estetik uppstår mot en abstrakt bakgrund.

Som ett svar på de krav som ställs på dagens bostadsmarknad har kollektivhushybriden BO ritats med ambitionen att skapa en ny typ av hållbart boende. Bostadsmarknaden idag präglas i stor utsträckning av bostadsbrist, vilket uppbringar nya förutsättningar för bostadsbyggandet. Detta har gett upphov till en tendens där politiker och byggföretag i många fall förespråkar avsteg från de byggregler som finns, för att kunna bygga fler och billigare bostäder. Detta kan t.ex. ses i många av de små, nyproducerade bostäder som byggs där smarta kvadrat och multifunktionella ytor främjas. Lösningar som dessa kan vara nödvändiga för att kunna tillgodose fler med bostad, men det finns även en risk att detta kan komma att leda till en ökad bostadssegregation, där de med sämre ekonomiska förutsättningar tvingas bo under sämre bostadsförhållanden. Att omförhandla vårt sätt att bo är en nödvändighet, då resurser och plats inte räcker till, men hur ska det gå till? Som ett svar på denna fråga har vi i detta projekt landat i en kollektiv boendeform med delningsekonomiska inslag. Detta möjliggör ett resurssmart byggande som inte gör avkall på god bostadskvalité eftersom ytor och resurser kan delas av flera. Denna kollektivhushybrid har inspirerats både av den klassiska ’storfamiljen’, där flera vuxna individer delar bostad och kollektivhuset, där man både värnar om det privata och närheten till det gemensamma. För att testa denna idé har konceptet implementerats på en tomt i Gröndal. / As a response to the demands of today's housing market, the collective housing hybrid BO has been designed with the ambition to create a new type of sustainable housing. The housing market today is characterized by housing shortage, which creates new conditions for housing designs. This has given rise to a trend in which politicians and companies often advocate for new rules for building in order to build more and cheaper housing. This can e.g. be seen in many of the small, newly built apartments, where smart squaremeters and multifunctional areas are promoted. Solutions like these may be necessary in order to accommodate more people with housing, but there is also a risk that this may lead to an increased inequality, where those with inferior economic conditions are forced to live under poor housing conditions. Renegotiating our way of living is a necessity, as resources and space are no longer enough, but how should this be done? As a response to this question we have landed in this collective housing project. Collective housing enables a resource efficient design which does not compromise with good housing qualities, since areas and resources can be shared by several people. To test this idea, the concept has been implemented on a plot in Gröndal.

Detta examensarbete behandlar rumsakustik som en viktig del i skapandet av en arkitektur för framförande av musik, samt upplevelsen av ljud. Projektet bygger på en idé att skapa nya möjligheter att skapa och framföra musik för musiker, vars arbete ofta begränsas av lokalbrist eller av olika föreningars intresseområden. Idén har utvecklats till en hybrid mellan ett nytt musikmuseum och ”Musikplatsen” - en plats för skapande och framförande av musik med liten publik. Musikplatsen blir en del av det nya musikmuseets program för att skapa nya samarbeten och ekonomisk hållbarhet. Projektet är placerat mellan Gröndal och Lövholmen och knyter samman områdenas olika strukturer. Därför spelar detta projekt även en stadsbyggnadsmässig roll som kulturinstitution i en möjlig framtida exploatering av Lövholmens industriområde. I museidelen finns fokus på god utställningsmiljö för olika typer av utställningar i enlighet med övergripande akustiska och arkitektoniska strategier. I projektet finns även en fördjupning inom området rumsakustik vilket har resulterat i särskilt fokus på akustik i designen av byggnadens största rum, - en konsertsalong med 700 platser för akustisk musik. Designprocessen har framskridit på ett kontrollerat sätt via matematiska beräkningar för att nå djupare förståelse inom rumsakustikens komplexitet. / This diploma project investigates room acoustics as a crucial part in developing an architecture for music performance and the experience of sound. The origin of the project comes from an idea to facilitate the constrained work situation of local musicians in the Stockholm region. The idea has been developed into a hybrid between a new music museum and a place for music creation and performance. The project is situated at Lövholmen/Gröndal connecting two totally different areas together along the existing main street. Thus the project also plays a part in a possible future urban development of the industrial area of Lövholmen. The museum parts have focus on interior environment in terms of exhibition spaces for different content, haptic and acoustic experience. Within this project there has been a deep research on room acoustics that has resulted in special focus while designing the largest space, a concert hall for an audience of 700. The design process has proceeded in a controlled way along with mathematical calculations to create a final design on a controlled basis to gain deeper understanding of fundamental parts in the field of room acoustics.

Mellan den sinnesvidgande upplevelsen och vår ständigt pågående vardag existerar ett spännande gränsland. Ett gränsland där arkitekturen kan ha en stor inverkan, där arkitekturen kan skapa en plats för en spontan introspektion. En plats som inte har några inneboende förväntningar eller är kategoriserande. Det är det här gränslandet som jag vill undersöka, och med det här examensarbetet skapa en spirituell samlingspunkt i en både urban och sekulariserad kontext, utan de dogmer eller de associationer som ofta hör till religioner. I dag ser vi att det är en större del av vår befolkning som ser sig själva som sekulariserade, det är därmed viktigt att vi då kan skapa mötesplatser för, inte bara de, utan alla personer i vårt samhälle. Mötesplatser för att kunna ventilera existentiella tankar, men även för att känna en tillhörighet och gemenskap. Därmed är målet att skapa en plats för kontemplation som upplevs lika tillgänglig, naturlig och inkluderande som religiösa rum är för deras egna medlemmar. Vi behöver ett mer naturligt komplement till religiösa byggnader som kyrkan där vi som människor kan samlas oavsett tro och bakgrund för att också fira viktiga händelser och milstolpar i livet. Samt att vi behöver skapa neutrala rum där vi kan tillåtas vara just andliga, kontemplera och varva ned, utan att behöva tillskriva oss en religion. / There is an intriguing boundary between the sensual and sensory experience and our everyday life, and in this boundary architecture can have a big influence. Here, architecture can create a place for spontaneous introspection, without any inherent expectations nor being categorical.
 I want to explore this threshold and, with this thesis, create a spiritual meeting point in an urban and secular context, without the religious dogmas or associations that often belong to this kind of place. In today's society, an increasing number of people see themselves as secularized, which is why it is important to be able to create meeting places for these people to vent their existential thoughts, but also for them to feel connected to others in the same process. So the goal is to create a place for contemplation that is as accessible, natural, and inclusive as religious space is for their members. We need a more natural complement to religious buildings where we as human beings can come together regardless of faith or background and also be able to celebrate important events and milestones in our lives. We need to create neutral spaces where we can be allowed to be just spiritual, contemplate, and unwind, without having to ascribe to a specific religion.
