O panorama do design gráfico contemporâneo: a construção, a desconstrução e a nova ordem / The panorama of contemporary graphic design: construction, desconstruction and the new order

Bomeny, Maria Helena Werneck 03 April 2009 (has links)
Taking graphic design as an observation axis, the course followed in the professionalization of this activity and the factors that led the message to take its current graphical form were analyzed. In this investigation, not only the changes brought about by the introduction of digital technology were considered, but also the transformation of cultural trends and patterns which determined the period studied. Modernist principles were used as a starting point, as systemized by Bauhaus and arranged by the guidelines established by the Swiss School, which determined the role of the graphic design as a neutral transmitter and whose proposal was clarity, objectivity and functionality, through universal forms and freed of regional values. The main objective was to analyze the loss of supremacy of these values, accompanied by the introduction of the digital technology, with new equipments offering new tools, which enabled new approaches in the conceptualization of projects.

O carro em cartaz: o automóvel no projeto gráfico de cartazes / The autoposter: poster graphic design for the automobile

Habara, Claudio 05 May 2011 (has links)
The present work aim to study of visual languages applied to graphic design by analysing printed works that has automobiles representations in it\'s project. The main objective is to identify and analyse posters judging by their format and content, in order to document and understand the development of this activity during the period of time where the different aestethics styles that compose the modern graphic design. This period is between the XIX century until the end of the 1940\'s. (Therefore,) it is necessary to study the social, cultural, political, historical, economical and technological factors during that period to fully comprehend the infl uences on the development of such projects. Thus, this research presents, in a rare form, informations and graphic design projects related to the automobile universe and the automobilism. Furthermore, this research will contribute to understand the ways the designer found to represent an object that gradually transformed from novelty to a society icon.

Design gráfico sinestésico: a relação da visão com os demais sentidos na comunicação / Synesthesic graphic design: the relation of the vision with the others human beings feelings in the communication.

Kawasaki, Yuji 29 May 2009 (has links)
This research has the aim to study synesthesia in graphic design, analyzing different graphical techniques and visual stimulations that forward or stimulate the different human beings feelings. To better understanding the relation among the visual signs and the others human being feelings, as smell, flavor, touch, sound and also observing the possible relation correspondence among them reflecting on its contribution on the communication process. Inside of each relation are presented synesthesia relation found by many researchers due to studies mainly related to psychodynamics of the colors, form psychology and gestalt, grouped by its relation by color, form, space form and texture. The found synesthesia relations serve as the main parameters to analyze different graphic parts of a recent production such as book covers, posters, packing among others. Considering the great growth of the information that we are submitted, the available medias, the market and the population in general, it is observed the necessity of projects each time more interesting, efficient and worried about the necessities of each market. This research aims to contribute to the determination of the resources which will permit to supply these necessities empowering the graphic design on the function to identify, to inform, to instruct, to present and to promote through a graphic idea.

Thinking about that fact, this research looks to find the creation of a landscape about this esthetic utilizing the perception of the major websites of Brazil, in the light of the great design portals of the internet and Google and Youtube research tools. This paper lead us to an understanding that flat design receives a large acceptance and major arguments on the internet, but it also brings the image of an esthetic that still in development, with variations and largely misunderstood on its conceptual foundations, that brings to a straight analysis of its symbolic roots and social impact / O flat design é a maior tendência no design gráfico do começo deste século, mas seus conceitos e características ainda não estão completamente consolidados.

Life drawing : to what extent might exploiting design epistemologies within an inquisitive graphic practice reveal graphic design undergraduates' experiences and understandings of the contingent and multi-contextual nature of employability?

Sharman, Ian James January 2018 (has links)
This research was designed to elicit insights from the implausibly-hushed stakeholders of graduate employability - current undergraduates. (Johnston, 2003; Moreau and Leathwood, 2006; Tymon, 2013). It is argued that previous rare attempts to probe students about employability have utilised methods, frameworks and/ or language that reflect dominant discourses of employability, so encouraging capitulation to existing perspectives; and have focussed mainly on alumni rather than current undergraduates. It is hypothesised that graphic elicitation is an apt data capture practice by reflecting the epistemologies and practice of its thirty-seven final-year graphic design undergraduate respondents at eight art and design institutes across the United Kingdom. My version of graphic elicitation was theatricalised through large sign-writing pens on expansive golden 'safety' blankets, emphasising to respondents both the process and the artefacts of production. The analytical framework was phenomenography, selected for its claim to reveal the range of experiences that respondents have of a target phenomenon (Åkerlind, 2012). This contrasts with other qualitative frameworks that focus on finding commonalities of experience. The multi-step, iterative analysis led to several phenomenographic outcome spaces, elaborating the extent of ways that undergraduates experience and perceive the construct of employability within their education and beyond. The outcomes were incorporated to an interactive interface to address a key criticism of phenomenography - that individuals' conceptions are forsaken by its reductive practice (Säljö, 1997). This element of my practice is proof of concept of an interactive phenomenographic outcome space, in which the categories of the outcome space can be drilled-down to associated underlying conceptions. The thesis describes the reason for, and elaborates, my inquisitive graphic practice with students, and discusses the outcomes. The accompanying praxis document supports the telling, from production of graphic artefact, via photographic recording of the artefacts and iterative analysis, to the phenomenographic outcome spaces and interface. The thesis concludes with an elaboration of what has been revealed, and what might be elaborated by subsequent practice.

Revisões nos sistemas de identidade visual corporativa de marcas brasileiras: uma análise crítica / Reviews on corporate visual identity systms of brazilian brands: a critical analysis

Moreira, Ricardo Santos 07 April 2009 (has links)
The Brazilian economy at 2000 decade goes through a stable period of time, between 2000 and 2008. This situation has allowed corporations to elaborate some middle term and long term strategies, and to put them into practice, many times in a successful way. As a result, there was the corporation´s value increment, not only of physical resources, but also of brand value. The brand became a resource not to be despised. Revisions on Visual Identity Systems have happened more frequently, with renew of old Visual Identities and, in some cases, with the change of the corporation´s name. In this work is intended to analyze the Visual Identify after the revision process, according to Norberto Chaves methodology and his fourteen parameters of high performance for symbols and logotypes. The research is based on the ten most valuable Brazilian brands, according to Interbrand´s 2007 evaluation.

Chen, Junyun 01 January 2018 (has links)
Being alone is not the only definition of loneliness. Loneliness can be felt even when surrounded by a lot of people, especially in the virtual online world. Our digital devices play an important role in connecting everyone together without the restriction of time and space. Communication became more and more convenient in this era. Mostly we are digitally connected, but sometimes, we are mentally disconnected. We are online and together in this virtual world, but loneliness is always a never ended situation that we are suffering from. As a visual communicator, My works focus on using performance as an approach to explore the evolving relationship between the online communication and online loneliness. In my thesis research, I want to investigate how does the online world created more loneliness to individuals digitally and physically, and how people release their spiritual desire and overcome loneliness in the online world.
