Teoremas de (H,G)-coincidências para variedades e classificação global de singularidades isoladas em dimensões (6,3) / (H,G)-coincidence theorems for manifolds and global classification of isolated singularities in dimensions (6,3)

Souza, Taciana Oliveira 28 March 2013 (has links)
Usamos essa caracterização na classificação global de singularidades isoladas em dimensões (6, 3) / This work consists of two parts. In the first part, we obtain some generalizations of the classical Borsuk-Ulam Theorem in terms of (H,G)-coincidences. In the second part, we extend the characterization of trivial map germs, in codimension 3, by the Milnor fibrations started by Church and Lamotke in [11]. We use this characterization in the global classification of isolated singularities in dimensions (6, 3)

The mais objective of this work is to present in detail a study about a criterion, which appears in the reference Coincidence for maps of spaces with finite group actions by D. L. Gonçalves, J. Jaworowski, P. L. Q. Pergher and A. Volovikov, for existence of (H,G)-coincidences of maps into a finite CW-complex Y with dimension k and whose domain is a paracompact, Hausdorff, connected and locally pathconnected space X with a free action of G, in a way that there exists an integer m such that the ith-homology group of X is trivial for 0<i<m and the (m+1)th-cohomology group of G is nontrivial. For the study of this criterion were needed some results of the theory of cohomology of finite groups, with emphasis on groups with periodic cohomology according to Tate cohomology theory, some results of the theory of fiber bundles and some notions of the theory of cohomological spectral sequences.

Wolfgang Benz, Theresienstadt. Eine Geschichte von Täuschung und Vernichtung: Buchbesprechungen 19.-21. Jahrhundert

Schulte, Jan Erik 14 July 2020 (has links)

This thesis is dedicated to the concepts of intentional existence and significant experience in the grounds of Hans-Georg Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics to lighten the idea of significant living experience. For the philosopher, the movement of understanding runs the breadth of the world of historical life and can be understood in the context of the factual intentional experiences involved in the circularity of distinct horizons that merge to find the proper sense. According to Gadamer, is in questioning our prejudices that the interpretation is structured and directs the manner of action of the being itself. The text was divided into two chapters that explore the concepts of existence and experience. The following themes were presented along the sections: philosophy of life, historical consciousness, intentionality, hermeneutics of factuality, game, practical philosophy and phrônesis. The notion of significant living experience in the philosophy of Gadamer is an exercise of understanding and interpretation involved with the practical wisdom.

The Development of Students' Experiences of Learning in Higher Education

Bond, Carol Helen, n/a January 2000 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with the development of tertiary students' experiences of learning as they progress through three years of undergraduate study in two different psychology programs. Previous research that is relevant to this topic has tended to focus either more narrowly on the development of epistemic beliefs or more broadly on the variation of learners' experiences of learning. Research on epistemic beliefs has tended to focus on the structural aspects (stages) of development and to ignore the content of thinking. In contrast, research on experiences of learning has concentrated upon the content of students' experiences, yet it can be criticised for the way in which it decontextualises students' experiences and for its limited attention to change and development. Moreover, despite evidence suggesting that learning comprises a complex of phenomena such as understanding, memorising and knowing, this line of research has tended to treat learning as a single phenomenon. In the thesis I draw on Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics, Gurwitsch's view of awareness, and much of the conceptual framework of the phenomenographic perspective to argue a case for a theoretical framework and consequential practices that are more plural and inclusive of learner's experiences of learning. The new approach refocuses the relationship between researcher, knower and known in terms of the knowing relation-one that involves a dynamic iterative interweaving of first and second order perspectives. Using this new approach, students' experiences are analysed to provide rich description and ontological explanation of both change and development over time. The approach allows the unity of the partlwholelpart relation of an individual's experience to be recognised. So the method is able to take account of the contextual relevancy of the individual whilst also focusing on the experiences of the group. The results show that rather than comprising a single phenomenon, learning is itself part of a multi-dimensional (depth, spatial and temporal dimensions), multi-phenomenal field. The phenomena of learning, understanding, memorising and knowledge are described in detail, and their individual internal relations are elaborated along with the internal relations between the phenomena. Four main groups of experiences of learning are described within this framework: reproductive experiences; relational experiences; constructive experiences; and transformative experiences. Each of these categories comprises several sub- categories. This fine-grained focus on individual students' data, and the use of the phenomenographic whadhow framework, allows the development of experiences to be traced and interpreted as a gradual morphing over time. The pattern of development suggests that each part of the learners' journey plays an important role in the growth of skill and competence in learning. Thus, it may be important that curricula account for variation not by focussing upon transformative experiences of learning, as is often the case, but by facilitating shifts through all of the experiences that learners may pass through.

Paradoxes of human will in the time travel film

Elder, Ricki 09 February 2010
This study discusses how the literary device of time travel can limit or empower protagonists. The main focus is on H.G. Wells The Time Machine and the two films of the same name inspired by the novel. The popularity of time travel in film springs from the myriad storytelling possibilities the device provides, and the writers agenda determines what place, if any, logic and causality have in the story. Some narratives endorse the theory of eternalism, where time is fixed and the time travellers actions are fated to be consistent with the history the traveller knows. But many films rely on theories of multiple timelines and many worlds, giving the traveller a much greater range of agency. Paradoxes of causality can inhibit the travellers actions as well. This essay discusses the broad spectrum in time travel narrative, where at one end travellers are imprisoned in history, and at the other they enjoy a great deal of freedom.
