The main purpose on this research is to deal with some aspects that come up along the drawing of the character Orion, the main character of Henry Bauchau\'s L\'Enfant Bleu. This research aims to shed light on the mechanisms used by the author to make a fictional character up from a living source, without, nevertheless, mixing it up with that source. From then on, the analysis will follow the dictations of Lionel - Bauchau Psychoanalyst\'s patient, who has inspired the character Orion - and will retrace its steps, from the document of psychotherapeutical work which leads into the novel published in 2004, in Belgium. This work is about comparing some dictations of Lionel (shelved at Fonds Henry Bauchau) with Orion\'s \"dictations of anguish\", counting rescriptures and erasures in the several versions of the book. They are available at the Archives and Museum of Literature of the Royal Library of Belgium. Also, we will analyze the dictations of Orion created by Bauchau without immediate inspiration from Lionel texts. In both cases the research intends to give special attention to the process of creating the language of Orion character, because we understand that language is central in building the character in question. Therefore, we will discuss issues such as: general structure of the work and work plans; Biography and Fiction, Language and Paranoia.

The raster question of otherness in the work of Henry Bauchau (1913-2012) is the focus of this research. The corpus consists primarily of two novels, La Déchirure (1965) and Oedipe sur la route (1990), where similar narrative figures are recurring, sometimes inspired by the life of the writer and sometimes by his experiences of fruitful dreamer. The figure of other (autrui) first refers to the family, especially the absent mother. It returns in the novels, especially under the aspects of an idealized mother, but also to remind the distance between the child and the mother. Another aspect of otherness, the other, is primarily an inner figure to the subject. According to Bauchau, who also has a practice of analyst and painter, exploring this otherness is often left to the unconscious and its expression in art and poetry. It's sometimes entrusted to the mythic imagination, or the reality of the physical body. In this way, the writer also uses the psychological and psychoanalytic dimension of writing. It is through the latter that some mythical characters like Oedipus, travelling as the writer himself a long way of aimless errancy, is able to find or to build their own identity. The renewal of great myths, adapted to the needs of the present, is the other side of Bauchau's writing.

L'horizon partagé d’œuvres poétiques françaises contemporaines et d'un art martial oriental en contexte contemporain / Art of the pen and art of the sword : feeling the immaterial. The shared horizon of french contemporary poetries and a eastern martial art in contemporary contextDubois, Matthieu 12 March 2015 (has links)
The objective of the thesis is to understand the forms and issues of a far-eastern imaginary that characterizes some works of French poets after 1945, like Henry Bauchau (born in 1913), Christian Dotremont (born in 1922) and Yves Bonnefoy (born in 1923). This imaginary allows considering creation as a “performance” and qualifies the dimension of making in poetic creation, what we can also observe in martial arts. The issue of this study is to understand how the far-eastern culture leaves its mark in these major works of contemporary French poetic production. The aim is precisely to enlighten their singularity from a perspective about creation as gesture and presence on, like an oriental martial art implements them in its own exercise. For that purpose, we will use multi-field theoretical tools, including the phenomenology developed by Michel Henry. This approach will renew some concepts of literary criticism and highlight what is often undeveloped in theory: the affective dimension of writing and reading. In particular, we shall observe warlike and healing virtues of writing, the question of the scriptwriting gesture and the spiritual dimension attached to it. More deeply, these approaches will enlighten creation as a process inducing a well-being for the creator as for the receiver.

Le roman bauchautien et la récriture du mythe d’Œdipe / Bauchau’s Novel and the Rewriting of Œdipus’ MythPurcărescu, Oana-Angela 12 September 2012 (has links)
This research paper proposes a study of a corpus focused on the novel Œdipe sur la route by Henry Bauchau, but also referring to other works of the œdipal cycle and to the writer’s diaries. It is a study which operates on a double level that of an ontological project of the wandering characters in search for identity, for purification and that of writing strategies. The first part of this study, based methodologically on the theoretical works on myth, suggests a definition of concepts, of the relations of myth with literature, of the evolution of œdipal myth. In the centre of our work, with a comparative, argumentative, hermeneutical and stylistic analysis, we focus on Bauchau’s novel, Œdipe sur la route. We analyze Œdipus and the writer’s dreams, the road between Thebes and Colonos, the transformation from an incestuous, murderer and blind king to a bard, an artist, a tutelary hero of Athens, the main symbols and characters in the œdipal cycle and we present the Romanians’ point of view on Œdipus’ myth. The final part analyzes Bauchau’s writing: the polyphony, the anachrony, the mise en abîme technique, the intergenericity, the status of characters, the dream dimension. Everything converges to a poetics of oscillation, of doubt, of wandering. These are emphasized by an analysis in the light of inter-text and palimpsest as a hermeneutical model. Thus, the originality of Bauchau’s writing is that in the centre of added stories, Sophocles’s mythic story continues with past, real or recomposed parts, for the benefit of new experiences, of a new vision on man. Keywords: Henry Bauchau, Œdipus, myth, symbol, identity, wandering, road, catharsis, intertextuality, writing, dream.
