Categorization of Phishing Detection Features And Using the Feature Vectors to Classify Phishing Websites

January 2017 (has links)
abstract: Phishing is a form of online fraud where a spoofed website tries to gain access to user's sensitive information by tricking the user into believing that it is a benign website. There are several solutions to detect phishing attacks such as educating users, using blacklists or extracting phishing characteristics found to exist in phishing attacks. In this thesis, we analyze approaches that extract features from phishing websites and train classification models with extracted feature set to classify phishing websites. We create an exhaustive list of all features used in these approaches and categorize them into 6 broader categories and 33 finer categories. We extract 59 features from the URL, URL redirects, hosting domain (WHOIS and DNS records) and popularity of the website and analyze their robustness in classifying a phishing website. Our emphasis is on determining the predictive performance of robust features. We evaluate the classification accuracy when using the entire feature set and when URL features or site popularity features are excluded from the feature set and show how our approach can be used to effectively predict specific types of phishing attacks such as shortened URLs and randomized URLs. Using both decision table classifiers and neural network classifiers, our results indicate that robust features seem to have enough predictive power to be used in practice. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Computer Science 2017

No. of bitstreams: 1 TeseMASB.pdf: 4808223 bytes, checksum: 61875de5f68ae756a86ad878e67928f2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-03-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / Teaching Portuguese as Foreign Language (PFL) in Brazil has undergone significant changes, as the Brazilian society. On the one hand, there is a growing number of foreigners seeking for the dream of a better life in this country. On the other, the country is unprepared social and politically in welcoming them. Although Brazil has registered in its history a strong link with immigration from various sources, it does not have effective public policy on immigration. However, the country has opened its doors to Haitian and Syrian immigrants, for humanitarian issues, and it has also received immigrants from other countries in different regions of the world. This research presents data related to the growing number of immigrants and asylum seekers in Brazil, the profile of these individuals and, above all, the role of language learning in the process of hosting these people, given that the various skills to be developed by the people who arrive are not their responsibility only of, but it is also responsibility of those who receive them. In this sense, helping them to learn the language of the country that receives them is the first action of hosting these individuals. This study is an action research inserted in a course for immigrants and refugees at the University of Brasilia, whose teaching material was prepared by topics such as work, housing, health and social relations, considered of greater urgency for linguistic, cultural and labor integration of these people. This research presents a (re)construction of the concept of language, which we call hosting language. During the research, we monitored the course called Módulo Acolhimento, observing and recording some lessons in audio, applying questionnaires and conducting interviews with the participants.

Une approche géographique / The tourism development in the high Brazilian Amazon : A geographical approach

Araujo Vieira de Andrade, Terence Keller 26 November 2012 (has links)
The thesis that we propose starts from the idea that questioning of the spatial dimension of tourism would be a way to understanding the transformations of the geographical places and societies that surround them. Concentrating the focus on the upper Brazilian Amazon, reveals us one of the most diversified, complex and attractive biome for the human curiosity, and which is also the region with the least touristic flows of Brazil. This paradox forces us to analyze this part of the globe for its specificities, but as it is also a part of a whole, we are led to adopt a systematic approach of the tourism. Our goal will be to analyze interactions between different actors of the upper Brazilian Amazon and it creates touristic places. Thus, two major questionings will be the guideline to follow throughout our reasoning. Firstly, how did the Amazonian places become touristic over the time? and secondly, how the actions of the actors stimulate the transformation of the Amazonian touristic places? This is the reason why we propose an empirical and pragmatic reading of the tourist phenomenon based on different geographical scales. Changing the distance and the angle of the observation will be the method used to confront the various representations of the actors around the tourism development. The multiple view on the intentions of the local populations, travelers' flows, as well as those led by the politics and economics actors, makes us think about the geographical specificities: the organization of an unstructured space, with lower population density, but with a strong presence of social and environmental resources and in the process of integration into a world tourist space.

"Notice and Take Down", o některých aspektech odpovědnosti poskytovatelů služeb / Notice and Take Down, on Certain Aspects of Liability of Online Intermediaries

Elbert, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
5 Abstract The final thesis addresses certain aspects of current topic of online intermediaries' liability for user-generated content ("UGC"). Under Act No. 480/2004 Coll., on certain information society services ("2004 Act on ISS"), which transposes e- Commerce Directive 2000/31/EC, online intermediaries in the Czech Republic benefit from "safe harbours". Essentially, it means that online intermediaries can be held liable for UGC only if they had actual or constructive knowledge of illegality of the content. This rule implicitly creates the so called "Notice and Take Down" procedure ("NTD"). Online intermediary upon receiving a notice, and thereby learning about the illegality of the content, is obliged to expeditiously take down the illegal content in order to preserve his immunity. However, NTD is neither expressly regulated within the ECD nor within the 2004 Act on ISS. Therefore, the purpose of the thesis is to illuminate NTD procedure and provide guidelines for it successful application within the Czech Republic. The thesis should be helpful not only to online intermediaries, but also to aggrieved parties serving notices. For this purpose the thesis looks not only at the ECD and its transpositions in various Member States, but also at American Digital Millennium Copyright Act 1998 that has been the...

Analýza hostování webových serverů / Analysis of web server hosting

Ilgner, Petr January 2017 (has links)
Master thesis deals with the problematics of webpages hosting in the Czech Republic. The goal of the thesis is to design a procedure and to implement an application for automated determination of whether a particular website is operated on a third party server or an own server of the organization or the individual. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part of the thesis lays a theoretical base concerning principals, protocols and services which are necessary for providing availability of the webpages with special attention to the specifics of the Czech internet environment. In the practical part there are several approaches to the analysis of the obtained data proposed. On that basis there is designed and in the form of the detection application implemented an algorithm which goal is to determine whether the submitted webpages are placed on a shared server and to collect the information about their hosting. In the last part of the thesis the application runs based on the created database of webservers organized by the categories of the webserver operators. In this analytic part the obtained output information about these webservers hosting are processed and presented together with the relevant context concerning the hosting of these webpages in the Czech Republic.

Innovations in Podcasting and Screencasting Course MaterialsTo Bring Mathematics to Life

Savich, Paula, Pierce, Sandra 09 May 2012 (has links)
Online and other forms of distance learning are a permanent fixture in the educational landscape. Mathematics taught in distance formats pose an even greater challenge to students and teachers alike. As mathematics is a skill subject, demonstration of concepts and processes is crucial, if not critical, to learning, particularly to visual and kinesthetic learners. Video podcasts and screencasts are the answer to distance students’ need for demonstration and explanation of mathematical topics. In the current economic climate, however, expensive audio/video capture software and hardware, as well as a lack of technical media support, make it virtually impossible to create such course materials. Also, there is the question of ownership of intellectual property if created with institutional funds and/or resources. Free capture software and internet video hosting sites make it possible for an individual to create his or her own podcasts and screencasts for student use, retaining ownership of the created materials.Materials developed for online students can be made available to students in seated class. This benefits students who are unable to attend class, but can be made available to the entire class.
