MODELAGEM DE PROCESSOS E A METODOLOGIA IDEF: PROPOSTA DE UM AMBIENTE COLABORATIVO NA PRODUÇÃO DE BIODIESEL / PROCESS MODELING METHODOLOGY IDEF: A COLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT PROPOSAL IN THE PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL

Oliveira, Josele Nara Delazeri de 11 March 2010 (has links)
Economic development is of utmost importance for any nation or locality, however, recognizing that natural resources are finite, such development must be associated to environment preservation. Most of the energy consumed in the world comes from the oil, coal and natural gas. These sources are limited and with forecast of exhaustion in the future, therefore, the search for alternative energy sources is of utmost importance. With this in mind, energy matrix that are able to substitute fossil fuels become a relevant world-wide issue. Brazil is the country with the largest biodiversity, which explains its wealth in oleaginous. However, it´s production is restricted to nutritional means, disregarding some species with high lipidic content. Biodiesel is a worthy alternative, being a renewable and biodegradable fuel. This research had the objective of developing a general descriptive model, having as base the IDEF0 methodology (Integration Definition Language for Function Modeling) and to propose a cooperative environment among the different actors of the biodiesel productive chain. The study had as base an IDEF0 modeling technique, with the purpose of understanding and describing the main processes involved in the biodiesel productive chain, aiming at suggestions of improvement in the relationship among the different actors of this chain, in order to optimize the management process. The results showed that the viability of long term biodiesel production depends on infrastructure, qualified man power, governmental rendering of services associated with production and governmental incentives. Faced with the reality presented in the research, a transition to free market was identified as a form of reducing costs of production and transportation for the producing companies. As well as the incentive to export, in order to lessen the excess of productive capacity not adequate to the demand. The auctions were created as a form of guaranteeing the commercialization of the biodiesel produced, however, with market more mature there´s a need to rethink these auctions. The IDEF0 Diagram for its simple and visual characteristic enabled the understanding of the function of each actor in the biodiesel productive chain and the identification of important elements, allowing suggestions of improvement in communication between the involved parts. For the agility and precision demanded nowadays, a computer system can be implanted, integrating the entire productive chain. For this, it is suggested in addition to IDEF0, the use of IDEF3, that describes the processes and its Inter-relations in a much more detailed form.

An Automated Methodology For A Comprehensive Definition Of The Supply Chain Using Generic Ontological Components

Fayez, Mohamed 01 January 2005 (has links)
Today, worldwide business communities are in the era of the Supply Chains. A Supply Chain is a collection of several independent enterprises that partner together to achieve specific goals. These enterprises may plan, source, produce, deliver, or transport materials to satisfy an immediate or projected market demand, and may provide the after sales support, warranty services, and returns. Each enterprise in the Supply Chain has roles and elements. The roles include supplier, customer, or carrier and the elements include functional units, processes, information, information resources, materials, objects, decisions, practices, and performance measures. Each enterprise, individually, manages these elements in addition to their flows, their interdependencies, and their complex interactions. Since a Supply Chain brings several enterprises together to complement each other to achieve a unified goal, the elements in each enterprise have to complement each other and have to be managed together as one unit to achieve the unified goal efficiently. Moreover, since there are a large number of elements to be defined and managed in a single enterprise, then the number of elements to be defined and managed when considering the whole Supply Chain is massive. The supply chain community is using the Supply Chain Operations Reference model (SCOR model) to define their supply chains. However, the SCOR model methodology is limited in defining the supply chain. The SCOR model defines the supply chain in terms of processes, performance metrics, and best practices. In fact, the supply chain community, SCOR users in particular, exerts massive effort to render an adequate supply chain definition that includes the other elements besides the elements covered in the SCOR model. Also, the SCOR model is delivered to the user in a document, which puts a tremendous burden on the user to use the model and makes it difficult to share the definition within the enterprise or across the supply chain. This research is directed towards overcoming the limitations and shortcomings of the current supply chain definition methodology. This research proposes a methodology and a tool that will enable an automated and comprehensive definition of the Supply Chain at any level of details. The proposed comprehensive definition methodology captures all the constituent parts of the Supply Chain at four different levels which are, the supply chain level, the enterprise level, the elements level, and the interaction level. At the Supply Chain level, the various enterprises that constitute the supply chain are defined. At the enterprise level, the enterprise elements are identified. At the enterprises' elements level, each element in the enterprise is explicitly defined. At the interaction level, the flows, interdependence, and interactions that exist between and within the other three levels are identified and defined. The methodology utilized several modeling techniques to generate generic explicit views and models that represents the four levels. The developed views and models were transformed to a series of questions and answers, where the questions correspond to what a view provides and the answers are the knowledge captured and generated from the view. The questions and answers were integrated to render a generic multi-view of the supply chain. The methodology and the multi-view were implemented in an ontology-based tool. The ontology includes sets of generic supply chain ontological components that represent the supply chain elements and a set of automated procedures that can be utilized to define a specific supply chain. A specific supply chain can be defined by re-using the generic components and customizing them to the supply chain specifics. The ontology-based tool was developed to function in the supply chain dynamic, information intensive, geographically dispersed, and heterogeneous environment. To that end, the tool was developed to be generic, sharable, automated, customizable, extensible, and scalable.

Lee, Zhi-Jie Unknown Date (has links)

Communication of sustainability information and assessment within BIM-enabled collaborative environment

Zanni, Maria Angeliki January 2017 (has links)
Sustainable performance of buildings has become a major concern among construction industry professionals. However, sustainability considerations are often treated as an add-on to building design, following ad hoc processes for their implementation. As a result, the most common problem to achieve a sustainable building outcome is the absence of the right information at the right time to make critical decisions. For design team members to appreciate the requirements of multidisciplinary collaboration, there is a need for transparency and a shared understanding of the process. The aim of this study is to investigate, model, and facilitate the early stages of Building Information Modelling (BIM) enabled Sustainable Building Design (SBD) by formalising the ad hoc working relationships of the best practices in order to standardise the optimal collaboration workflows. Thus, this research strives to improve BIM maturity level for SBD, assisting in the transition from ad hoc to defined , and then, to managed . For this purpose, this study has adopted an abductive research approach (iterative process of induction and deduction) for theory building and testing. Four (4) stages of data collection have been conducted, which have resulted in a total of 32 semi-structured interviews with industry experts from 17 organisations. Fourteen (14) best practice case studies have been identified, and 20 incidents narratives have been collected applying the Critical Decision Method (CMD) to examine roles and responsibilities, resources, information exchanges, interdependencies, timing and sequence of events, and critical decisions. As a result, the research has classified the critical components of SBD into a framework utilising content and thematic analyses. These have included the definition of roles and competencies that are essential for SBD along with the existing opportunities, challenges, and limitations. Then, Schedules of Services for SBD have been developed for the following stages of the RIBA Plan of Work 2013: stage 0 (Strategic Definition), stage 1 (Preparation and Brief), and stage 2 (Concept Design). The abovementioned SBD components have been coordinated explicitly into a systematic process, which follows Concurrent Engineering (CE) principles utilising Integrated DEFinition (IDEF) structured diagramming techniques (IDEF0 and IDEF3). The results have identified the key players roles and responsibilities, tasks (BIM Uses), BIM-based deliverables, and critical decision points for SBD. Furthermore, Green BIM Box (GBB) workflow management prototype tool has been developed to analyse communication and delivery of BIM-enabled SBD in a centralised system (Common Data Environment, CDE). GBB s system architecture for SBD process automation is demonstrated through Use Case Scenarios utilising the OMG UML (Object Management Group s Unified Modelling Language) notation. The proposed solution facilitates the implementation of BIM, Information Communication Technology (ICT), and Building Performance Analysis (BPA) software to realise the benefits of combining distributed teams expertise holistically into a common process. Finally, the research outcomes have been validated through academic and industrial reviews that have led to the refinement of the IDEF process model and framework. It has been found that collaborative patterns are repeatable for a variety of different non-domestic building types such as education, healthcare, and offices. Therefore, the research findings support the idea that a detailed process, which follows specified communication patterns, can assist in achieving sustainability targets efficiently in terms of time, cost, and effort.
