Linking mechanisms for component-based Services and IT Governance / Linking mechanisms for component-based Services and IT Governance

Müller, Carsten January 2008 (has links)
Abstract Academic support in IT Governance focuses static viewpoints on IT Governance. IT Governance in a global context has to cater for intensive competition, cultural diversity, and various fluctuating economic conditions. A static model of IT Governance and organisation cannot adequately address these issues. A major goal of this Dissertation is to develop a Framework for component-based IT Governance using dynamic Linkage Mechanisms to allow the determination of an optimum (resource-) flow. Linkage Mechanisms are dynamic arrangements and IT Governance Service Value Channels between IT Governance Components in the IT Governance Domain and allow communication between them. The (resource-) flow is based on transactions. These dynamic networks of relationships allow for greater flexibility and agility in acquiring, combining and deploying required IT Resources and IT assets. In this new research approach methods of the Object-oriented Modelling and Operations Research are applied to IT Governance disciplines. The result of this Dissertation is a generic, model-based, reusable and expandable 'building block' for the component-based design of an IT Governance Domain. This building block is composed of process oriented models, structured processes, strategies for optimisation and application use cases. It is shown how the architecture for the performance of a concrete IT Governance Domain is instrumented and in this way a component-based IT Governance is performed. Possible addressees of the results of this Dissertation are following: - ITG architects and (software-) developers who would like to implement the components, services or a platform for component-based ITG; - ITG managers or Chief Information Officers (CIO) who would like to construct a better understanding for requirements and relationships in the context ITG; - Auditors who would like to control and audit the conformity of an ITG Domain against a generic requirements catalogue; - Authors of Standards and Best Practice-Frameworks in the ITG area as-well-as scientists who are working with related research questions in the context ITG.

Larsson, Åsa, Valfridsson, Paulina January 2016 (has links)

Vide, Thersese January 2021 (has links)

Riskhantering i statliga IT-projekt / Risk management in public sector IT-projects

Niskanen, Miriam, Nyberg, Johan January 2021 (has links)
This thesis aims to examine why IT-projects in the public sector frequently exceed their budgets. The study is delimited to risk management and the thesis opts to answer the following question: Which risks have not been successfully managed in public sector IT-projects which exceeded their budgets? The study was conducted through qualitative individual interviews with six project managers and four project owners. The choice to interview both project managers and project owners was made in order to gather information from two different perspectives. To further validate the collected information project plans, risk management documents and completion reports where requested and analysed. The result from the study shows that new or altered requirements, unforeseen risks and lack of competence are the main reasons for budget overruns. The conclusion is therefore that estimations for a correct budget, to keep the resources and work proactively to make room for risk management are important factors to finalizing successful IT-projects. A final factor which must be accounted for is that the project budget is just an estimate on what the project will cost, thus making a poor measurement on what makes a successful project. The thesis is written in swedish.

Is Green IT Threat to Security? : Assessing the Green IT from Information Assurance and Security Perspective

Umair, Rafia January 2012 (has links)
With rapid growth and pervasive usage of internet and information technology, information assurance and security has become the top most challenging issues for many organizations. Security professionals and experts have been striving hard to protect the computers, information and centralized network system. These security risks increase more when information is held outside the internal computing environment. Additionally, IT industries are recently pushed by environment regulation to reduce the CO2 footprint of information technology system, production and processes lines. According to recent statistics IT industry is responsible of generating 3% of carbon footprint (Frangiskatos, Ghassemian and Diane, 2010) through their massive consumption of energy. One of the solutions to reduce the energy consumption by Information Communication Technology (ICT) is introduction of Green IT solutions such as Virtualization, thin client, cloud computing, paper reduction, on-line communication system, travel reduction and computer recycling. These Green IT efforts have many green benefits and leading a change in IT processes and system for the protection of environment. But the efforts to reduce, energy consumption, efficient utilization of resources and electronic waste (e-waste) and change in IT may put the system and information on risk if “Green IT” initiatives and solutions are not reviewed from an Information Assurance perspective. As a result it can impact the continuity of business and its assets. This thesis provides a literature review on Green IT from information assurance and security perspective. The purpose of thesis is to assess how Green IT could be threat to security. Its key areas of focus on information assurance and security threats and risks in Green IT solutions which are being promoted for environmental protection. Thesis also highlights the vulnerabilities in Green IT solutions. Thesis presents security challenges of Green IT, need to focus, towards the goal of secure Green IT. While thesis does not discuss any specific defense mechanism, it provides a path for future research in this domain. I believe that thesis work points towards an interesting and important area in Green IT security. / <p>Validerat; 20121129 (global_studentproject_submitter)</p>
