Malmo University facility management

Sjöö, Denniz, Hedenskog, Marcus January 2018 (has links)
Titel: A study of the students perceived quality at Malmo University Subject, course: Facility Management, Bachelor thesis 15 hp Authors: Marcus Hedenskog, Denniz SjööAdvisor: Peter PalmKeywords: Facility management, in-house, outsourcing, perceived quality ___________________________________________________To understand how space in university premises is used is important to be able to support the education that is taken place. Improvement in the supporting function to the core business is the most efficient method to increase learning and perceived quality in the premises. That is why spaces and cleaning plays a big role in student study results in university. Therefore the cleaning in Malmö University plays a big role in the work of Malmö University Facility Service to create a high quality study environment. Today the cleaning is performed by two contractors, one is an external actor and the other one i part of the Malmö University organization. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the student’s perception of differences in quality of the cleaning operators at Malmö University with the basis of the report Utvärdering av lokalvårdsorganisationen. The evaluation is to be seen as an quality parameter and complement to the existing evaluation of the difference in cost in contracting the two cleaningoperators in the report. The collected information from the study is based on a survey and interview with students in the four university buildings Niagara, Gäddan, Orkanen and Hälsa & Samhälle at Malmö University. The result in this study shows that the cleaning at the Malmö University premises is perceived as both important to the students and to be of an high and even quality today. However the students are mistaking many of the building qualities like age and condition for the technical quality of the performed cleaning that is performed. The small differences thatcan be noted is perceived quality of the cleaning relates to the condition and character of the building rather than the quality in performance of the cleaning operator. The perceived quality of the premises and the effect on study result thereby has a stronger connection between new and airy spaces rather than to higher cost for cleaning operation.

Formal Devices of Trance and House Music: Breakdowns, Buildups, and Anthems

Iler, Devin 12 1900 (has links)
Trance and house music are sub-genres within the genre of electronic dance music. The form of breakdown, buildup and anthem is the main driving force behind trance and house music. This thesis analyzes transcriptions from 22 trance and house songs in order to establish and define new terminology for formal devices used within the breakdown, buildup and anthem sections of the music.

The educational responsibility of the house-parent in the children's home

Naidu, Shamalin January 1996 (has links)
Submitted in fulfilment of the requirement for the degree MASTER OF EDUCATION in the Department of Educational Psychology of the Faculty of Education at the University of Zululand, 1996. / The aim of this investigation was to determine the awareness and capability of house-parents in children's homes to meet the educational needs of the children who have been entrusted to their care. An introductory historical overview was provided of the origin and development of children's homes with specific reference to the Muslim Darul Yatama Wal Masakeen Children's Home, Lakehaven Children's Home and the Aryan Benevolent Home in KwaZulu-Natal. Attention was also given to the "idealized" task of these homes. The admission of a child to a children's home was described in terms of the Child Care Act, Act No. 74 of 1983. Aspects that need to be considered when placing a child in a children's home, such as the child's cultural and religious affiliation and the distance from his parental home, were discussed. The fact that the child is admitted to the children's home as an educationally neglected child, was considered. By adopting the education situation as point of departure, educational neglect as the outcome of the inadequate realisation of educative intervention, was elucidated. The non-accountable interventional assistance of the child's own parents who are incapable, causes the child to experience the education relationships as impaired. Arising from this, the education sequence structures and the education activity structures are inadequately actualized. As outcome of the non-accountable educative intervention the normative image of adulthood which is strived for as educational aim, is not adequately realised and is posed as a delayed education aim. An own parental home with both parents available, was scrutinised. The importance of a happy and normal family life for the becoming child was discussed by referring among others, to the significance of the father and the mother in the education of the child. The group situatedness of the child in the children's home, which entails both positive and negative educative lived- experiences, was addressed. Attention was given to the special educative task of the house-parents, which includes the physical, psychological and spiritual "re-education" of the child in the children's home. Sufficient physical care of the child is imperative for the creation of a basis for all other educative actions. The educationally neglected child's emotional education {affective education) shows a distorted image in becoming. The house-parents* unconditional acceptance of the child and their willingness to provide assistance, aid and guidance, are necessary to winning his confidence and enabling him to live-experience acceptance. Through mutual trust and acceptance, and authoritative guidance the child experiences security. Certain aspects of the educational task of the house-parents with regard to the cognitive education of the child, are highlighted. Through the support and guidance of the house-parents, the child must be assisted in learning how to cope with his emotions. The child can only pay full attention to his school work and studies when he experiences a stable emotional life. Attention is also given to the moral education, social orientation and religious guidance of the child in the children's home. For the purpose of the empirical investigation, self-structured questionnaires were used. The questionnaires were completed by the house-parents of the children's homes selected for the investigation. An analysis was done of questionnaires completed by house-parents and the data thus obtained was processed and interpreted by means of descriptive statistics. In conclusion, the findings emanating from the literature study and the descriptive statistics were presented. Based on these findings, the following recommendations were made: Urgent attention must be given to further training of house-parents and improved conditions of service for them. No house-parent must be responsible for more than ten children. Educational support services must gradually be incorporated in the assistance and control over the children in the children's homes.

An investigation of genetic variability in Lucilia cuprina and Musca domestica utilizing phylogenetic and population genetic approaches

Doll, Laura Catherine 08 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Forensic entomology is a subdiscipline of entomology that involves the use of insect behavior and developmental data to aid in criminal investigations. Genetic data has become increasingly important to the field as there has been a push for DNA-based species identification methods of forensically relevant insects. Genetic data can also elucidate population structure and relatedness of these insects, and such knowledge can contribute to the development of more specific datasets for insects in different regions. The first study presented here investigated the phylogenetics of sister species Lucilia cuprina and Lucilia sericata to identify possible subspecies divisions and issues with DNA-based identifications in the United States. The initial aim of this study was to identify genetic differences between specimens of L. cuprina that preferred live versus carrion flesh. Flies collected from Indiana, USA and South Africa were sequenced and analyzed. Upon sequencing of the genes COI, Period, and 28s, our results indicated that L. cuprina from Indiana possess a unique combination of nuclear and mitochondrial haplotypes that suggest a unique lineage, possibly indicating modern hybridization with L. sericata. The inability of both nuclear and mitochondrial genes to distinguish between L. cuprina and L. sericata raises questions about the capabilities of DNA-based species identifications within this genus. Additionally, the inability of these genes to distinguish between specimens that preferred live versus carrion flesh highlights a need for continued research of these behavioral differences. The second study presented here investigated the population structure and relatedness of house flies in the American southwest in relation to a civil lawsuit where neighbors of a poultry farm alleged that flies were emanating from the farm to their homes. Musca domestica (house fly) specimens were collected from the chicken farm and from locations in varying directions and distances from the farm. Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis was performed and the data were used in a number of analyses. Population reallocation simulations generally indicated that samples from different locations were not genetically different enough from other locations to allocate to their true origin population over others. Kinship analysis showed differences in samples collected in a later season that indicate a genetic bottleneck over time. Population structure analysis indicated the presence of two intermixing genetic populations in the dataset. AMOVA revealed that the majority of genetic variation laid within, rather than among, populations. A Mantel test revealed no significant correlation between genetic and geographic distances. These results indicate that the M. domestica population in this region of southwestern America is large and intermixing, with no clear genetic distinctions between specimens collected at the poultry farm versus the surrounding locations. In regard to the civil lawsuit, it was not possible to conclude that the flies did not emanate from the poultry farm. In a broader perspective, these data can be utilized to develop pest management strategies in this region. Overall, the data from both studies presented here will be useful to forensic investigations, development of more specific and detailed data and identification techniques, and pest control measures.

Skräck och sympati : En analys av skräckens roll i skapandet av sympati förkaraktärer i The Haunting of Hill House

Bermann, Alice January 2021 (has links)

In the Light of the Artifacts: Understanding Another Domestic Area from the Iron II Occupation, Tell Halif

Oksuz, Latif 06 May 2017 (has links)
Tell Halif gives us an example of the pillared house from the Iron Age II period. Based on this house, what we can address is whether there is a typical set of activities undertaken in this house. Do the “de facto” assemblages of artifacts reflect a typical everyday use of space or a different use of space because of military activity associated with the siege and destruction of the settlement? It can be demonstrated from Tell Halif’s archaeological data that, once the specific activities are identified, their organization also can be identified. These remains are compared with other Iron Age houses from the same site and other sites in the Negev and the southern Shephelah. The purpose of this research is to examine and add to our understanding of the Iron Age household and how it is reflected in the patterning of artifacts in the buildings occupied by the household.

Changes in occupation at Lyon's Bluff (22OK520)

James, Thomas Reuben 07 August 2010 (has links)
Lyon’s Bluff is an archaeological site covering approximately 25 hectares in Oktibbeha County, MS. Richard Marshall proposed that the site can be divided into two occupations – the eastern area, occupied during the Mississippian period (A.D. 1000- 1540); and the western area, occupied during the Protohistoric period (A.D. 1540-1750). Starting in 1935 several archaeological excavations have taken place at Lyon’s Bluff, but the work has always focused on the eastern area of the site. To test Marshall’s proposal, a series of shovel tests was dug over the site, and 14 one-m2 excavation units were placed on purported house mounds in the western area. Eight of the fourteen excavation units were proven to be on house mounds, with the others being on natural rises. Typological analysis of the artifacts collected showed that the east-west division is speculative and that the entire site was occupied throughout the course of its history.
