A inclusão digital como estratégia e política de gestão de Relações Públicas em organizações privadas / The digital inclusion as strategy and politics of Public Relations in private organizations

Ana Maria Franchon 24 April 2009 (has links)
The 21st century mainly features are the new information and communication technologies and the triad information, communication and knowledge. On the behalf of the analysis of the scene, this study intends to understand why private organizations develop projects of digital inclusion as strategies and politics of management of Public Relations. During the theoretical part, there were compared several theories of renamed authors of the present time, on the scene of the post-modern age and the digital inclusion. Besides, this study presents a case study on the Committee for Informatics Democratization and four supporters companies of the social projects of the entity. Although the scene clearly points to the strategically character assumed by the digital technology, the performance of the supporters companies in the spreading of the projects, via Internet, still is shy. However, all the projects of digital inclusion were strategically related to the core business, place where companies have influence and linked to the corporative lines of direction.

The Discourse of the Information Age

Keenan, Andrew 06 1900 (has links)
This thesis examines the discourse of the information age and its influence on information literacy and social networking websites. The information age proposes that society has been dramatically changed by the recent advancements of information and information technology. The information age is a ubiquitous concept, manifesting specifically in two areas: library and information studies (LIS) and social networking websites. Information literacy, the American Library Associations education strategy for the information age, empowers library patrons with information skills to participate in the emerging era. Social networking websites (Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter) represent information- based businesses like those predicted by information age theorists. This thesis concludes that the arrival of the information age is impossible to discern, but the influence of information and information technology is significant.

Produção de subjetividade no processo de ensino-aprendizagem de alunos de graduação : novas formas de ser e de aprender na era da informação

Cruz, José Marcos de Oliveira 31 January 2006 (has links)
The tecnological evolution, a creation of the modern age, was the perfect scenario for the rising of the Internet. In the past few years, its use has become frequent in the academic environment. In this way, this work has the main purpose to analyse the influence of the Internet in the academic process of learning. We had 32 students in the Pedagogic and Psycology major joining the research. The data was obtained from half-structuralized interviews with sevens main questions witch answers were submitted to de analysis of content process, with qualitative and quantitative treatment. The results revealed that the contact with the Web has producted transformations on the way of being, of feeling, of acting, of thinking, of studing and of relating with the students, due to that, the Internet has introduced new ways of dealing with the subject and information, providing modifications in the teachinglearning process. It was observed also that the utilization of the Internet reflects in the subjectivity production and the conection with the cyberspace promotes beliefs that re-echo in the social representation of the students. All this produces new subjectivities among the Internet users, once that in this dynamic, the citizen make up specific ways of realizing himself and the world. Finally this work shows the necessity of investigate the efects oh the Internet in the education field, therefore the consequences of the Internet resources depend of its use.

Warfare by other means : the rhetoric of war and sport in the twentieth century

Zetter, Nathaniel Mark January 2019 (has links)
This thesis identifies the existence and significance of a rhetorical gesture that has circulated widely since at least the nineteenth century: the comparison between war and sport. The introduction outlines the background for this rhetoric through a genealogy of the phrase, 'the battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton', in nineteenth-century writing. Part one of the thesis examines the metaphors and cultural practices of energetics in European sporting life until the Second World War. The first chapter presents a cultural history of 'sporting aviation' between the Wright brothers' first European flight in 1908 and the declaration of war in 1914, arguing that the new technology of the aeroplane was initially understood through a tension between sporting and bellicose associations. The second chapter performs a close analysis of F.T. Marinetti's writings and Umberto Boccioni's paintings to reveal the role of sport in Italian Futurism and its significance for our understanding of its infamous glorification of warfare. Chapter three examines the militarist displays at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and their enduring cultural legacy. Focusing on the role of crowds, rhythm is shown to be at the centre of how martial symbolism was embedded in the Games' sporting displays. Framing the transition into part two, the fourth chapter reads Georges Perec's use of the Olympics as an allegory for both the Second World War and the Holocaust in W, or the Memory of Childhood (1975) beside a number of post-war conceptualisations of 'play' and 'game'. The chapter identifies a re-organisation of the play concept according to an emerging concern with information, one which, in Perec, also articulates an alternative register for war's cultural memory. From here, the thesis' second part identifies the emergence of a metaphorical nexus of computation, war, and sport in post-war American culture. Chapter five argues that Don DeLillo's End Zone (1972) and David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest (1996) satirise the logic of nuclear strategy by employing the formal properties of information theory in their language, collapsing the distinctions between war and sport when each is subjected to computational representation. The final chapter analyses the 'military shooter' videogame, and the new form of sport it has produced - 'e-sports' - considering these games as a material instantiation of the convergence between the discourses of military and sporting culture. Across the case studies presented in these six chapters, a transition is identified from metaphors concerned with war and sport's energetic qualities to those concerned with the processing and abstraction of war and sport as information. Rather than conceive of this transition as an epistemic break, however, the thesis identifies continuities across the principles to be found in cultural energetics and informatics.

The First Icomde A Library for the Information Age

Todd, Daniel Elias 18 November 2008 (has links)
The library has existed as a repository for knowledge for centuries. However, in spite of the information revolution and its watershed component, the internet, this institution has found itself fundamentally unchanged. Great strides have been taken to adapt the library to this changing world, but these incremental changes are timid and reactionary. Through the internet the floodgates have opened; individuals are creating and sharing information both personal and academic, in the form of not-so-private journals, works of creative fiction, works of journalism, works of scholarship, and every other form of intellectual (and not so intellectual) propagation imaginable. Additionally, advances in computer display and input technology are breaking down the conceptions of what a computer is and how we interact with them. The trend is pointing to a future where computers are no longer objects, but an integrated component of our built environment, capable of responding to practically limitless simultaneous individual users. This thesis will take the lead on these growing trends and create a new type of information age institution to evolve alongside, rather than supplant, the library: Icomde. This new institution will explore the possibilities of these new technologies while embracing the spirit of the information revolution. It will create a unique place where people can experience state of the art means of information creation, interaction, and collaboration. Finally, when the technology present has been fundamentally surpassed, the Icomde will be dismantled and the pieces distributed to dozens of locations throughout the world to found new Icomdes, with the original site becoming host to the next iteration of whatever advanced technologies will follow. This thesis will seek to examine the cultural, social role of the library as it has evolved and has been propagated through the course of human events, using design and history research, so as to employ the 'spirit' of this place as completely as possible in spite of the proposed radical paradigm shift. It will also use logical argumentation to organize trends in web content generation and publication into patterns that can be interpreted and acted upon in a forward-thinking fashion rather than a reactionary one.
