Innovationsorientering : En Innovationsprocess för mätning av innovationsförmåga

Lysek, Michal T. January 2022 (has links)
Innovation is still considered a practical leadership challenge, especially since many companies today do not have a systematic way to measure innovation. Despite of that, innovation is considered one of the most important drivers of sustainable economic growth. This study therefore aimed to explore what a company can do to work with innovation and what a company can measure to determine if they have increased their innovativeness or innovation capability. For this purpose, an inductive and qualitative research approach was selected, inspired by classical grounded theory. The study resulted in the development of a first model for innovation orientation that shows what a company can do to work with innovation, and the development of a second model for the measurement of innovativeness that integrates different innovation concepts and key performance indicators and shows what a company can measure to determine if their innovativeness has increased. The study’s conclusion is that although there are several different key performance indicators that companies can choose from to measure their company’s innovativeness, such indicators should be adapted to the company’s business goals and specific business context, and that such innovation measurement requires that innovationrelated concepts such as being “new”, providing “benefits”, and being “useful”, are integrated with the company’s chosen key performance indicators when used for innovation measurement.

The social construction of technical innovation in the UK oil and gas industry

Oyovwevotu, Joy Sunday January 2014 (has links)
Innovation and ‘creative destruction’ should thrive in the competitive, high risk and high cost environment of the North Sea. Paradoxically, uptake of new technology is slow. The focus of this research was to understand how new technology is developed and how end users make decisions about innovation. Innovation process in the literature can sometimes come across like a ‘black box’ without much explanation of what happens inside the box. This study seeks to explicate what transpires inside the ‘black box’ to improve our understanding of the innovation process. The linear models of technology-push and market-pull are too simplistic to account for the complexity of relationships and engagements that affect innovation at small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) level. Subsequent models of innovation are suited to how large corporations manage innovation but neglect patterns of social interactions at the micro level where SMEs operate. These innovation models are incomplete because they relegate the importance of context and how it shapes understanding, action and outcome. This study, rooted in a social constructionist paradigm, takes a process-relational stance on entrepreneurship and innovation, recognising the dynamic relationships between social actors and context. Taking Heidegger’s explication of how we relate to the world, this thesis submits that innovation occurs when actors move into the ‘occurrent’ mode. The happenings and doings in the innovation process are treated as the results of perpetual social constructions. This study is based on extended interviews with eleven individuals in relevant roles and with direct experiences of the technical innovation construction in the oil and gas industry. The purposeful sample of research encompasses a variety of roles including technology entrepreneurs, end users of technology and venture capitalists. This study makes a number of contributions. Firstly, the research improves our understanding of how different social constructions are welded together to develop shared understanding. Secondly, a conceptual framework is presented that bridges a number of theoretical concepts, which allows us to see that innovation cannot be properly understood using simplistic models that ignores the social constructions human actors instantiate. Thirdly, the research claims that problem framing is foundational to innovation construction, where social actors collaborate to develop shared understanding, and mentally represent in the present a future that is not totally knowable. Fourthly, an alternative model of innovation construction is presented that is relational and accounts for the social constructions of process participants. Finally, a number of research implications for academics and insights for practitioners engaged in the technical innovation construction are offered.

Soziale Innovation – Beiträge aus der Innovationsforschung der Technischen Universität Chemnitz / Social Innovation – Treatises from the Innovation Research of the Technische Universität Chemnitz

09 June 2017 (has links) (PDF)
Social Innovation - It is regarded as an elixir of modern societies, but sparse named in social togetherness. Politicians and scholars see it as the key to new social practices, which is caused by citizens. However, the clarification contains some challenges. In this publication, which was developed at Technische Universität Chemnitz, we ask: Which paradigm is deposited? Can we comprehend the construct philosophically? How can process models of social innovation be visualized? Are there conditions of evaluation and controllability? Are non-profit organizations an incubator for social innovation? Thus, in the present volume we intend a holistic view of the described phenomenon for scientists, students and interested parties.

Application au champ non médical en milieu hospitalier / The process of innovation in service activities : the role of business intelligence : application to non-medical field hospital

Gozim, Sid Ahmed 16 November 2016 (has links)
If the processes of innovation in services activities were the subject of extensive work over the past 30 years, the link with business intelligence has been less analyzed in this context. This thesis proposes to build and to confront a representative model of this link with a multiple case study in the private and public hospital sector, on non-medical innovations. They confirm the existence of a strong link between intelligence and innovation, before and during the innovation process construction, for a wide variety of stakeholders involved in the process, regardless of their hierarchical position and their field activity.

Comparisons were made between different theoretical references on the process of global innovation, open innovation and the relationship between them, to be applied in the three selected premium companies belonging to the Fashion Industry of Brazil, located in the city of São Paulo. For this, fifteen employees were interviewed, whose functions involve the development of collections of these companies. The research objectives were to propose a framework disaggregating the steps in the geographic and proprietary scopes; Identify the innovation process that can be adopted in multinational strategies; And which are the proprietary and geographic scopes of the process steps. The methodological approach is the qualitative one, the method is the one of case study and the technique of treatment of data was the analysis of content. It was found that the process occurs in a disaggregated way between its stages, there is independence of performance in the geographic and proprietary scopes, but, at different intensity, open innovation was more found than global innovation. And, the practice of open innovation does not influence the use of global innovation.

A contribution to the design of rewards systems for innovation.

Soares, João Paulo Reis Faleiros 04 March 2015 (has links)
This thesis aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge regarding the organizational context variables to be considered in designing a rewards system geared towards fostering innovation in products at organizations. Initially, the paper takes a new look at fundamental concepts regarding both rewards systems and the innovation process. Next, some current studies on reward practices geared towards innovation are presented in an effort to broadly systematize the aspects explored by authors on this matter, while also showing some of the gaps identified. Based on this work, a preliminary reference chart is created using context variables and their implications for the design at issue, specifically: organizational strategy, type of innovation to be encouraged, beliefs and cultural traits of the company, and previously established systems of goals and rewards. Field research is then done using qualitative interviews with five specialists, consultants and scholars in strategic human resource management and in rewards systems, as well as by using case studies of four large-scale industrial companies known for being innovative, in order to perform a critical assessment of the preliminary reference chart and allow for its refinement. The subject researched proves to be even farther from the reality of specialists as well as designers of rewards systems at organizations operating in Brazil. Nevertheless and even having maintained the four main context variables listed previously, the field research made the reference chart created stronger, because based on its creation, analyses were done that changed relevant aspects of the details of this chart. This being the case, it is believed that this thesis could contribute to a first addition being made in an effort to close the gap that exists in literature on the design of rewards for innovation.

Análise da gestão de ideias de produtos para apoiar o planejamento da inovação / Analysis of the product idea management to support the front-end of the innovation process

Cunha, Vitor Pinheiro 23 September 2011 (has links)
Organizations have to deal with a dynamic environment in which innovation is essential for success of businesses. Additionally, the product innovation capability of any organization is directly related to a continuous flow of ideas capable of raising opportunities for new products and technologies. Despite the primary role of ideas, instead of managing the ideation process, the most common approach is the generation of a large number of ideas. However, launching new products requires more than just generating ideas, many other characteristics of the process need to be addressed. Thus, to explore these characteristics, this research has as main objective analyze how the product ideation process is carried out in companies. To achieve this goal, firstly, is proposed an ideation conceptual model, based on the synthesis of the characteristics identified in literature. Then, to understand the behavior of these characteristics in practice, is conducted a multiple case study in 15 companies recognized as innovative and from different sectors of industry. Finally, based on data collected, the characteristics of the ideation process are analyzed and compared with the information obtained from the literature review. Based on the results of the study is identified that the conduct of the ideation process may follow different logics according to the characteristics of companies. Certain factors, such as: strategies, ways of conducting the process and organizational factors should be taken into account in defining the best way to manage the process. Considering that the studies identified in the literature focus on analyzing specific characteristics of the process, making it difficult to get a complete overview of the process, this research presents an important contribution to academic theory by analyzing the main characteristics that impact the process. This work also presents a contribution to companies, as it can be used as a reference of how the process is being developed and provides a practical overview of how it can be structured.

In the IT sector, the innovation process is fundamental for companies. Thus, it is observed the demand of producing software companies in finding new ways to achieve competitive results. Based on strategic design perspective, this study proposed a new approach that is capable of better adapting the needs and innovative processes of the sector in question. Thus, it was intended to evaluate the innovation processes at producing software companies in Rio Grande do Sul, as well as to describe a theoretical model of innovation process, guided by the design. A mapping of the sector was elaborated, identifying 38 software factories in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, to carry out a sectoral diagnosis and then carry out a case study. The results showed little differentiation in the services provided by software producers in Rio Grande do Sul, besides the low contribution of innovation and design to the competitiveness of the companies investigated. Thus, the construction of the innovation process by the design for the IT sector, took place together with IT professionals and other areas of activity through an ideation workshop. Based on the results, a proposal of innovation process was defined that sought to offer to software producers an approach oriented to innovation and design, provoking the creative effort combined with the different individuals competences, with the purpose of learning process and collective sense for the creation of competitive advantages. The proposed model was applied in a company of the evaluated sector, with the purpose of analyzing its practice in the real context of the software factories. It was identified the relevance of elaborated innovation process resides in the deepening of the context worked, as well as in the proposal of potential opportunities. Thus, an innovation process for the IT sector was reached, aiming to balance the exploratory behavior of the design with the analytical character of the software factories, providing moments of investigation, proposition of ideas and experimentation, and of the solutions created.
