Interkulturní komunikace a spolupráce v managementu firem: česko-španělská / Intercultural Communication and Cooperation in the Context of the Czech – Spanish Business Environment

Straková, Barbora January 2011 (has links)
The main aim of this dissertation thesis is to explore a different view and contribute to the research in the area of the intercultural communication and cooperation. In this thesis we are trying to examine two different cultures from the point of view of the cultural standards. To be able to gain a comparable and trustful outcome, the research was conducted on a specific group of Czech and Spanish business managers and employees. The main common characteristic of the members of this specific group was determined based on at least half a year of interactive communication within Czech -- Spanish international cooperation. Given the current situation of the increasing globalization process, compounded by integrating cultures, we believe that the above mentioned topic is highly valuable for daily management skills and employees' relations. We find it very important to pay more attention and give more thought to this issue, as the correct communication is one of key means to successful business management and cooperation. It is obvious that misunderstandings in communication and cooperation within the managing teams might lead to fatal breakdowns. It is no longer possible to overlook the strong influence of the globalization process. This fact should be taken into a serious consideration by leaders of the universities and multicultural companies. This should be followed by the integration of new management methods corresponding to the changes and new influences in multicultural entities. With respect to the structure and wide range of the changes brought into the companies by the globalization process, it was a real challenge to fulfill the goals of this dissertation thesis based on the realized qualitative examination research. An important output of this research is the identification of key differences within the above specified tested group. These differences arise from specific thinking and behavior which lead to different attitudes in regards to managing both life situations and a professional career. Based on these findings, we suggest classifying the Czechs and the Spanish into particular existing theoretical models. Good understanding of the key differences coupled with the theoretical knowledge allows us to suggest some suitable recommendation, tips and tricks for a better mutual communication among Czech and Spanish managers and employees on both professional and personal levels.

Conflict Prevention and Management (CPM) System in Transdisciplinary Research Collaborations

Löhr, Katharina 10 August 2018 (has links)
Recognizing that no single discipline or institute alone can find solutions to global challenges, a shift toward interconnected and global research approaches is occurring, thus increasing the number of collaborative research initiatives applying inter- and trans-disciplinary approaches. This is mirrored not just in the global development agenda (Agenda 2030) but also in the funding policies of national and international public funding bodies. While there is awareness for the grand challenges and institutional structures facilitating joint action, little attention is given to the operational details. However, this is essential, as research collaborations in sustainable development are complex organizational settings prone to conflict, made up of diverse members from multiple countries, institutions, and disciplines. To prevent destructive conflict, including complete project failure, research on collaborative team work, as well as tools to facilitate collaboration and project success, is needed. Effectively functioning projects can find solutions to grand societal challenges. Thus, the objective of this dissertation is to facilitate the operational functioning of transdisciplinary research projects by analyzing the design and effects of a conflict management system in such a research environment. Because it exemplifies the complexity of collaborative research projects, a transdisciplinary research project on food security serves as the case study. This dissertation not only helps close the knowledge gap on how transdisciplinary research projects operate, but it also advances research on conflict management systems by transferring the approach to a new type of organization.

Language sciences in international cooperation between France and Brazil. The intercultural dimension : from the didactics of language and culture to language and educational policies

Clément, Etienne 18 October 2017 (has links)
In this research, I will question a concept halfway between knowledge and action, interculturality in field oflanguage sciences and more specifically in educational and linguistic policies, within the context ofinternational cooperation between France and Brazil. Which intercultural skills are French and Braziliancooperating partners lacking of in international cooperation? To what extent is the intercultural dimensiontaken into account in language education policies in France, in Brazil and at an international level? Whatrecommendations for language education policies, both in terms of initial training and continuing education, are conceivable to train cooperating partners? These are the questions that this doctoral dissertation will tryto answer through an analysis of interculturality in French and Brazilian language education policies. Thequalitative approach of my analysis is based on a corpus of semi-directive interviews and observations on asynchronic, macro and micro levels. This highlights the multiplicity of challenges and the different dynamicsat work within the question of interculturality in language education policies, and into the didactics oflanguage and culture. This research deals with the cultural and linguistic dimensions of the cooperationbetween France and Brazil through the prism of the language and culture substratum. It’s from this linguisticand cultural substrate, which carries the linguistic exchanges of the cooperating partners that we will askourselves how the international cooperation between France and Brazil are sources of intercultural relations. These relations are a prerequisite and necessary to a successful partnership. We will also measure theintegrity of adaptable antagonisms as a source of construction of intercultural skills in situations experiencesby international cooperation professionals. This work fits within a perspective of continuous professionaldevelopment, taking into account the intercultural dimension in language education policies, with theobjective to train professionals in international cooperation between France and Brazil at initial andcontinuing education levels.
