Loedolff, Johanna Christina 11 1900 (has links)
The research was directed at setting up guidelines for an interdisciplinary team which deals with children suffering from nonverbal learning disorder in middle childhood. The primary motive for the study was to, in general, further greater awareness of nonverbal learning disorder with parents and the relevant professions, but in particular, the interdisciplinary team which therapeutically handles children with nonverbal learning disorder. For the purpose of this study Thomas and Rothman's Intervention Research Model was applied. Information from relevant literature and semi-structured interviews with expertise in the area of learning disabilities was combined in order to set up guidelines for nonverbal learning disorder in middle childhood. The researcher concludes that thorough background knowledge of child development should be a precondition before nonverbal learning disorder could be identified and diagnosed. Because areas of development function interdependantly of each other, the developmental defecits of the nonverbal learning disorder child can only be treated effectively in a therapeutic way through an interdisciplinary team approach. / Social Work / M. It underscores the story of the researcher, sharing empirical experiences that were significant in the theoretical basis of the content, highlighting theoretical concepts and analyzing aspects that are relevant in the population aging process. It describes the so called conceptual references of interdisciplinarity and health, going into an epistemological basis as well as into the concept of team building, pointing out the inconsistencies of high specialization. It discusses the suggestions of continuous education for teams, the power of corporate communication in organizational culture and its relationship with interdisciplinarity. It suggests an organizational arrangement for a geriatrics and gerontology hospital defining its organizational objectives, the structure of teams and the mechanisms involved in the integration process / A pesquisa parte de uma busca pessoal na tentativa de trazer para discussão conceitos de interdisciplinaridade na concepção de um hospital geriátrico e gerontológico.

Early prevention work for children in a young age - How we embrace the citizens of the future : Should the social worker be a part of child health care in the future?

Engström, Malin, Ramsten, Hanna January 2018 (has links)
This study wants to identify how the early prevention work looks in the society as well as how it could be developed. The purpose with this study is to exam the early prevention work for children, also if an implementation of a social worker in the children health care could develop the early prevention work that exist today. The study has a qualitative approach and an inductive view. A general strategy has been used to reach the empirics, that is gathered through four semi structed interviews and a review of current research in the field. The problem perspective is a foundation for processing and coding the interviews in the study. The study uses the bioecological model as the theory to process the coding and analysis of the interview empirics. From the theory three of the systems are used, micro-, exo and macrosystems. The study reaches conclusions from the systems that are: Micro conclusion: Early prevention work must be taken more seriously and occur in a greater extent. Exo conclusion: The interprofessional team should exist, along with the social worker, to perform early prevention work of good quality. Macro conclusion: To focus on early prevention will reduce high costs in the future.

Towards understanding nursing within multidisciplinary mental health teams that serve vulnerable youth

Slater, Suzanne 31 August 2012 (has links)
Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses are members of multidisciplinary mental health teams that address the assessment and treatment of vulnerable youth. The phenomenon of interest for this study is nursing's distinct contribution to a multidisciplinary team in this clinical domain. An interpretive description drawing on the perspectives of seven nurses and seven clinicians from the professions of psychiatry, psychology, social work, child and youth care, and registered clinical counselling provides insight into understanding nursing's distinct contribution (NDC) to multidisciplinary mental health teams that serve vulnerable youth (MMHTSVY). Six major themes and multiple subthemes were inductively derived. The findings make explicit nursing’s contribution to MMHTSVY in ways that are meaningful to the clinical practice. / Graduate

The experiences of social workers in rendering palliative care services : suggestions for social workers

Nyamndaya, Tendayi 02 1900 (has links)
Palliative care is one of the crucial services provided by social workers to improve the quality of life of people suffering from life-threatening illnesses. It is an inter-disciplinary medical care giving approach which focuses on relieving symptoms and stress of life threatening illness. To my knowledge there is limited guidelines on how social workers should intervene in providing palliative care services. Therefore, this study will the explore experiences of social workers in rendering palliative care services to people faced with life-threatening illnesses. The study will follow a qualitative research approach. Purposive and snowball sampling will be employed to frame the sample of social workers who render palliative care services. Ethical issues regarding informed consent, confidentiality/anonymity and management of information will be considered and attended to. Data will be collected through semi structured interviews and analysed in terms of Tesch eight steps. The Guba and Lincoln’s model will be employed for data verification (Lincoln and Guba in Schurink, Fouché and de Vos 2011:419-421). / Social Work / M.A. (Social Work)
