"Vem vill inte arbeta för något man känner för?" : En kvalitativ studie om VD:ars syn på CSR som ett medel för att motivera medarbetare

Lundberg, Nicole, Kaijser, Catharina January 2018 (has links)
Background How companies choose to work with for instance sustainability and equality, something that today is known as corporate social responsibility (CSR), is a matter that over the years has become even more important. Contemporary researchers have found an interesting correlation between CSR activities and employee motivation. Provided that, the internal communication and managers play a crucial role in succeeding making CSR-activities increase employee motivation. Therefore, research regarding CEO’s views on CSR and its ability to possibly motivate employees, becomes relevant. Aim The purpose of this study is to contribute with a deeper understanding of CEO’s different interpretations and views on using CSR as a form of motivation for their employees. Furthermore, the study provides empirical knowledge to deeper understand the link between transformational leadership, CSR and employee intrinsic motivation. Methodology The main and only method used to collect data was qualitative semi structured interviews. An abductive approach has been used which has given the authors a chance to shift between theory and empirical evidence during the process. Conclusions All the CEOs in the study agreed on that CSR can be used to motivate employees. The main discovery done is that the interpretation of CSR as something bigger, including both internal and external CSR-activities, positively correlated with the CEO’s attitudes towards using CSR as a means of motivation and its importance for organizations. Furthermore, some of the CEOs argue that transparency and talk and action is crucial both ways to succeed in making CSR programs genuine and effective. As for communication, the transformational CEOs see symmetrical internal communication as key since they highlight the importance of trust and genuinity.

Ahmed, Javed, Khan, Abdullah Al Mamun January 2017 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how national culture influence internal communication of university.   Methodology: A qualitative approach was chosen to conduct this research. Semi structured interview were taken. Interviews were taken by face to face, skype and phone call. Ethical approach was considered while interpreting the data.   Findings: Our study showed that high power distance has negative impact on internal communication. We found that high power distance creates block between supervisors and subordinates to share information. Thus it creates barriers for effective communication flow and hinders organizations development. Our study also found that power distance is available in both countries but the degree of power distance is varied from one to another. In our study we also found that Individualism and collectivism has effect on internal communication. Our study showed that Individualistic or collectivistic decision making process of university effect internal communication of university in both countries. Previous study suggests that high power distance country tends to be a collectivistic country. Though the result is not always true. However, we found that true in our study.   Contribution: The study adopts employee centric approach to explore the effects of culture on internal communication. This is an important contribution to previous researches that focused on internal communication from different perspectives, inclusion of cultural differences on internal communication has added value to the research field. Moreover, this paper contributes insights in cultural differences as well as employee perspective and by doing so it suggests theorist and practitioners that how internal communication can relate to employee’s engagement in different cultural perspectives.   Limitations: The major limitation of this study was that this study only focused on Hofstede’s power distance and individualism as cultural dimensions. Other dimensions were not focused. Another limitation of this study was the sample size. The sample size is too small to represent the whole population in regards to university perspective.   Suggestions for further research: Additional qualitative or quantitative methods can be required to explore the findings in different aspects. The study focuses on the educational institute. The findings may vary in accordance with the different industry and sectors. The study provides the guidelines regarding the impact of cultural differences on internal communication. Future research could consider other important factors that may have profound impact on internal communication in different settings.

Nilsson Ringi, Amanda, Wahlman, Andreas January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to better understand if the prefered way of communication differs depending on which organizational position the person currently holds. Since we are now living in a world where both work related life and private life to a greater scale depends on the ability to keep yourself updated with both the situation worldwide and communication with your peers with the help of different IT solutions. Earlier research results show that a majority of research groups prefers face to face communication. This research used interviews with people on different steps of the corporate ladder to find out what their standing were on the subject. The respondents where both male and female, in varying age and had been employed from one to ten years in the organization. The results found in this research were not equivalent with the earlier research since our results found that almost all respondents were pro written communication (e-mail).

Using Enterprise Social Networks for Internal Communication : A Case Study about Organisational Actors' Experience

Brandin, Hanna, Bylin, Amanda January 2017 (has links)
Internal communication is a subject increasing in importance. This subject has, as many other things, been influenced by the Internet-based and connected world that we live in today. As a result, Enterprise Social Networks has appeared as a tool for organisations to use. While the usage of this tool is growing, the existing research on the subject is yet very limited. So is the research on employees‘ needs when it comes to internal communication. In this study, we aim to fill these gaps, by exploring the use of these enterprise social networks from an organisational actor‘s perspective. In order to fulfil this purpose, a qualitative case study within multiple embedded units of analysis was used. The empirical material was gathered through in-depth semi- structured interviews as well as observations. Furthermore, we took on real-life experience by using the ESN tool ourselves. Several themes were then identified using a thematic analysis. By using this method, we conclude that organisational actors use ESNs for private, public and remote communication. We also provide the reader with five characteristics of ESNs that are perceived as important by organisational actors, namely; easy to learn, easy to use, accessible, informal and avoids disturbance. Several perceived outcomes resulting from ESN usage is then identified. We conclude the study by explaining that if organisations identify a need for an ESN, use it in the right way, and have the appropriate culture, the implementation of an ESN can be very beneficial. This, as organisational actors experience it as a good tool for internal communication.
