Vidareutveckling av sorteringsarm

Ljunggren, Jonathan January 2019 (has links)
This bachelor thesis deals with the implementation of a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Borås. The thesis work has been carried out for SGA Conveyor Systems, which manufactures and sells systems for more efficient package handling. The aim of the thesis was to develop an existing sorting arm, in order to improve the package flow. The further developed sorting arm would be presented in the form of a visual concept drawn in the software Autodesk Inventor. The concept would be further developed to the extent that the concept's functionality could be demonstrated. Furthermore, the concept would be presented with reasonable component recommendations. During the initial period of the project, decisions were made for the direction of further development. The decision was that the sorting arm should be set up in the form of a driving belt. The work began with the study of industry related literature. When a sufficiently large knowledge bank had been built up, the next step was to make demands on the upcoming product together with the client. With the requirements as a reference, solution proposals could then be generated in the form of concepts. The most suitable concept was selected and further developed within the framework of the work's objective. The degree project resulted in a visual concept being presented to the client. The concept meets the requirements set to a great extent and the possibility for an implementation can be considered credible.

Government support for the independent inventor

Bryant, Frederick Bruce, n/a January 1984 (has links)
What is the role of the independent inventor today? Historically, he has played an important role but circumstances have now changed. The objectives of this thesis have been: (1) to assess the value of inventions made by independent inventors; (2) to determine whether the government should provide support; and (3) if so, how? It is not appropriate to make a judgement about the value of independent inventors on qualitative data alone. Therefore, attempts must be made to obtain quantitative data on the value, in economic and social terms, of inventions of independent inventors. The unique feature of this thesis is the survey of members of the Inventors' Association of Australia to assess the personal characteristics of their members, the value of inventions made by members and the types of assistance required by their members. Some of the research results on the personal characteristics of independent inventors are interesting. - 95% are males. (This is supported by other research data). their educational qualifications are much higher than the general population. - on average, each inventor spends 8-10 hours per week on inventions. The survey showed that the economic value (in terms of value of output) of inventions made by members of the Inventors' Association of Australia is about $50m per annum and creates about 4000 man years of employment. It is not possible to assess what percentage of independent inventors are members of the Inventors' Association of Australia. Estimates place this between 20% and 50%. If this is the case, then it can be estimated that the value of output of inventions of independent inventors in Australia is between $100m-$260m which, in turn, creates 7,700 - 19,000 man years of employment. Additionally, the qualitative evidence suggests that Australian inventors are, at the least, equal to their overseas counterparts. There are grounds why governments should intervene to assist independent inventors indivisibility: this relates to access to information and to the large scale nature of some inventions. inappropriability: this refers to the externalities or social benefits of inventions which are not recouped by inventors through the normal market mechanisms. - uncertainty: independent inventors usually have a small number of inventions; therefore it is not possible for them to spread their risks. Large companies and some areas of the agriculture and mining industries have developed special mechanisms for spreading risk. Based on an assessment of overseas policies, an examination of existing Australian policies and the results of the Inventors' Association of Australia survey, the following steps should be taken in Australia to support independent inventors. (1) create an environment within the community which supports/encourages invention and innovation. (2) develop a national innovation policy. (3) develop an innovation finance facility. (Although this is not in operation, steps have been taken to provide this). (A) the establishment of innovation centres.

Implementing a visualization tool for myocardial strain tensors

Rönnbrant, Anders January 2005 (has links)
<p>The heart is a complex three-dimensional structure with mechanical properties that are inhomogeneous, non-linear, time-variant and anisotropic. These properties affect major physiological factors within the heart, such as the pumping performance of the ventricles, the oxygen demand in the tissue and the distribution of coronary blood flow.</p><p>During the cardiac cycle the heart muscle tissue is deformed as a consequence of the active contraction of the muscle fibers and their relaxation respectively. A mapping of this deformation would give increased understanding of the mechanical properties of the heart. The deformation induces strain and stress in the tissue which are both mechanical properties and can be described with a mathematical tensor object.</p><p>The aim of this master's thesis is to develop a visualization tool for the strain tensor objects that can aid a user to see and/or understand various differences between different hearts and spatial and temporal differences within the same heart. Preferably should the tool be general enough for use with different types of data.</p>

Konstruktion av maskinbeklädnad

Jönsson, Simon, Persson, Robin January 2014 (has links)

Assistive technology device development: moving from design to market ready using an online course to advance the knowledge and understanding of product development for occupational therapy practitioners

Knowlton, Jayne 24 October 2018 (has links)
During an intervention, occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) can customize it by creating a novel product adaptation. Such adaptive products help individuals to participate fully in occupations and activities (AOTA), 2016a). Potentially, the need for the adaptive product could be greater than the one individual for whom it was intentionally designed. This doctoral project investigates the impact of OTP designed products not getting to market, the factors that contribute to this limitation, and propose an online course to address the problem. The pathway of the AquaEve urinal becoming a population application is used as a case example. The Assistive Technology Device Development: Moving from design to market ready (AT to Market) course will be implemented as a pilot course. The goal of this five-module course is to guide OTPs to achieve milestones on the path to bringing a novel AT product to market. The creation of a comparison product chart, a narrative description of the problem and solution, achievement of a working prototype, and the creation of a business plan are the measurable outcomes of this course. This doctoral project describes the contributing factors to the course including funding, outcomes research, and dissemination plans due to their contribution to the goal of the viability of the AT to Market course as a repeatable offering. The Assistive Technology Device Development: Moving From Design to Market Ready course will guide OTPs through the innovative and entrepreneurial steps to contribute to the emerging technology trend and advance the quality of health care through the development of healthcare enhancing products extending from their client creations. / 2020-10-23T00:00:00Z

Multi-functional fitness chair for light weight trainer

Fan, Rong, Wu, Peng January 2016 (has links)
Nowadays, physical inactivity has become a global problem. According to the research, about 5.3 million deaths all over the world in 2008 could be attributed to inactivity [1]. However, it is enough to do a little exercise every day to reduce the risk of premature deaths by as much as 30 percent. Due to the increasing working pressure, people do not have enough time to go to gym and do exercises, which means that the design of multi-functional fitness chair is necessary so that people can do exercise at home at any time. There have already been many similar household fitness products in the market, but most of them take up large space and the training part is very simple. In comparison, the multi-function fitness chair designed in this thesis combines several fitness equipment together in one chair, so it would save a lot of space, and yet provides possibility to perform versatile exercise. The product was designed in Autodesk Inventor 2015, and finite element analysis was performed in Inventor 2015 and for checking the strength and safety of the design.
