Geografias invisíveis : o efeito da vontade de potência para geografia

Bandeira, Alexandre Eslabão January 2018 (has links)
Invisible geography guides this journey, which has taken place in various moments, internal and external, that, in the face of a reflexive act with the will to power in Nietzsche, collaborates not to disqualify everything that has happened up to now but to provoke everything and everyone in some way, for other geographical views. It is necessary to distance ourselves from this perpetual materiality of these systems of objects and actions, not to annihilate, but to potentiate for other looks. The present research problematizes that one reality does not fit in the other, but above all, one in the other. Invisible Geographies is a confronting point, inserted as my meta-point for analyzing realities. The analysis operates and situates itself at times in the biographical, genealogical process of my coexistent experiences. Thus the invisible term plays a role in confronting the objectifications, idealizations that, although they have a deep genealogy in their practicality, become crutches, which make reality a disconnected act towards the world of life. We must go beyond the social and individual question of the current molds, so that, in the face of a world of perspectivism, we can work out a new way of perceiving and conceiving this world. We must view current perspectives as harmful to this present man, for this world was created to nullify any order other than his own. I place Nietzsche's philosophy as a great landmark for a paradigmatic breakthrough, for to the author everything has an interest, and within this existential path consciousness is an insignificant byproduct of our psyche, a kind of spotlight, a cut-out, a point of view within of the existential manifestation of man.

Dětští protagonisté v tetralogii "Le cycle de l'invisible" Erika-Emmanuela Schmitta / Young Protagonists in Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt´s Tetralogy "Le cycle de l' invisible"

BAČOVSKÁ, Jana January 2011 (has links)
The aim of my thesis is a complete analysis of child characters in Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt´s tetralogy Le cycle de l´invisible. The child characters are the main protagonists of all the cycle. Therefore they the have been given the main focus in my work. In the theoretical part of my work I'm introducing the basis of the analysis of the characters in general. A treatise of the character with it´s different aspects and functions in a literary text is a part of the theoretical basis. In the subsequent analysis of individual texts I have been analyzing child characters appearing in the cycle. I have been dealing with their characteristics, their relation to the storyline and to the narrative structure of the text, to the other characters, especially adults. During my work I have been trying to reach a more general characteristic of Schmitt´s child fables and also to answer the question why the author chose children as his prose protagonists.

A search for direct and radiative decays of the neutral B meson to invisible final states using a hadronic tagging method at the BABAR detector

Blount, Nicholas L., 1979- 12 1900 (has links)
xii, 118 p. : ill. (some col.) A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / This dissertation describes a search for the decays B 0 [arrow right] invisible and B 0 [arrow right] invisible+γ, where invisible refers to a final state consisting of long lived particles with a low cross-section for interaction with matter, leading to a low probability of detection in typical particle detectors. While the branching fractions for these decays predicted by the Standard Model are far below what could be feasably measured by current experiments, new physics such as right-handed neutrinos propagating in large extra space-time dimensions or light R-parity violating neutralinos in supersymmetry could greatly enhance the branching fractions. The decays are searched for in data corresponding to 423.5 fb -1 integrated luminosity produced at the Υ(4 S ) resonance collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory, corresponding to 2.30 × 10 8 B 0 B¯ 0 pairs. Using those events that contain a hadronically reconstructed neutral B meson, evidence for the signal decays is sought in the remainder of the event. In (5.00 ± 0.02) × 10 5 events with a fully reconstructed neutral B meson, a total of 39 events consistent with the B 0 [arrow right] invisible decay mode are seen in data with an expected background of 28.5 ± 7.8(stat.)±9.2(syst.) events, and 8 events consistent with the B 0 [arrow right] invisible+γ decay mode are seen in data mode with an expected background of 14.1 ± 5.5(stat.)±8.1(syst.) events, from which upper limits of [Special characters omitted.] ( B 0 [arrow right] invisible) < 11.7 × 10 -5 and of [Special characters omitted.] ( B 0 [arrow right] invisible+γ) < 4.3 × 10 -5 at the 90% confidence level are obtained. / Adviser: David Strom

Region aware DCT domain invisible robust blind watermarking for color images.

Naraharisetti, Sahasan 12 1900 (has links)
The multimedia revolution has made a strong impact on our society. The explosive growth of the Internet, the access to this digital information generates new opportunities and challenges. The ease of editing and duplication in digital domain created the concern of copyright protection for content providers. Various schemes to embed secondary data in the digital media are investigated to preserve copyright and to discourage unauthorized duplication: where digital watermarking is a viable solution. This thesis proposes a novel invisible watermarking scheme: a discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain based watermark embedding and blind extraction algorithm for copyright protection of the color images. Testing of the proposed watermarking scheme's robustness and security via different benchmarks proves its resilience to digital attacks. The detectors response, PSNR and RMSE results show that our algorithm has a better security performance than most of the existing algorithms.

The Use of Social Media in Informal Scientific Communication Among Scholars: Modeling the Modern Invisible College

Algarni, Mohammed Ayedh 05 1900 (has links)
The concept of the invisible college is a key focus of scientific communication research with many studies on this topic in the literature. However, while such studies have contributed to an understanding of the invisible college, they have not adequately explained the interaction of social and structural processes in this phenomenon. As a consequence, past research has described the invisible college differently based on researchers’ perspectives, resulting in misinterpretations or inconsistent definitions of the relevant social and structural processes. Information science and related disciplines have focused on the structural processes that lead to scholarly products or works while placing less emphasis on the social processes. To advance understanding of the invisible college and its dimensions (including both social processes and structural processes), a proposed model (Modern Invisible College Model, MICM) has been built based on the history of the invisible college and Lievrouw’s (1989) distinction between social and structural processes. The present study focuses on the social processes of informal communication between scholars via social media, rather than on the structural processes that lead to scholarly products or works. A developed survey and an employed quantitative research method were applied for data collection. The research population involved 77 scholars from the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), in Saudi Arabia. Descriptive statistics, frequency and percentage were conducted for each statement. Means and standard deviations were calculated. The results indicate that the majority of participants heavily use social media for scientific communication purposes. Also, the results confirm that scholars consider social media to be an effective and appropriate tool for scientific communication. Seven factors were found in the findings to have positive correlations with uses and gratifications theory and the use of social media. This research contributes to and benefits scholars, reference groups (i.e., the invisible college itself), and institutions, and provides insight about the systematic development of indices for the use of informal communication channels.

Fenomén neviditelných uživatelů sociálních sítí a jejich vztah ke značce / Brand-lurking Phenomenon on Social Media

Audy Martínek, Petra January 2021 (has links)
Brand-lurking Phenomenon on Social Media Abstract The key measures to assess consumer-brand engagement on social media have mainly been visible interactions with media content, including 'likes', comments and shares. However, as research into consumers' online behaviour demonstrates, only a minority of users in fact participate 'visibly'. On social media, the vast majority of users are passive participants, so called 'lurkers'. This thesis explores consumers' publicly invisible behaviours on social media and introduces an original methodological approach to exploring the otherwise invisible behavioural patterns on social media, which builds on ethnographic principles and combines digital methods with qualitative methods. Drawing on a data set of 134 hours of screen recordings obtained through ad hoc tracking devices installed on PCs and smartphones of 15 young adults from seven European countries recruited from the "Generation Z" and 15 in- depth interviews conducted with the same participants, the study proposes the following contributions. First, the thesis illustrates a research protocol to explore consumers' lurking behaviours in relation to branded content as they occur within the young people's natural social media settings. Second, it introduces the concept of invisible engagement, defined as an...

Att leva med Morbus Crohn : En litteraturstudie / Living with Morbus Crohn : A literature study

Magnusson, Edy, Stagsegel, Caroline January 2021 (has links)
Background: Mb Crohn is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease without any clear pathophysiology and varies in disease activity from case to case. The symptoms come in relapses, between the relapses the patient is asymptomatic. Aim: To examine how it is to live with Mb Crohn. Method: A general structured literature study. Ten articles were reviewed with a content analysis, categorized, created themes and was discussed. Results: Three main themes were identified: Social consequences of living with Mb Crohn, mental and physical consequences of living with Mb Crohn and information can affect management of the disease and one subtheme: Relationships with the surroundings. The result showed that lack of information created concern for the future. Many felt misunderstood by the caregivers and the society. Mb crohn effects the everyday life as it is invisible for others at the same time. Conclusion: The literature study showed that people with Mb Crohn get most of life affected and there were both positive and negative experiences. The majority had felt concern, fear and anxiety linked to the disease. Experience of being treated bad and being misunderstood was found. These experiences and emotions gave life a changed character after the disease. Further research is required with focus on how the nurses can support patients with Mb Crohn to deal with their life situation.

Speculative Interference: A Modern Spectre Attack / Spekulativ Interferens: En Modern Spectre-attack

Borg, Isak January 2021 (has links)
Since the Spectre family of attacks were made public knowledge in January of 2018, researchers, manufacturers and interested individuals have experimented a lot with creating defences against it. But there have also been a lot of research aimed at circumventing these defences and finding alternative side-channels and mechanisms for performing Spectre-type attacks. This thesis implements and demonstrates a proof of concept of one of these newfound attacks known as a Speculative interference attack. This is done in a simulated environment, which to our knowledge has not been done before at the time of writing this report. After the 'basic' version of a Spectre attack has been explained, the thesis will explain how the more advanced interference attack works and how it is implemented in the simulated environment. In the end the results gained with the attack will be presented, which should convince the reader of the relevance and possibilities of the attack.
