High staff turnover: a study for the Gauteng Department of Finance

Nzimande, Ntombikayise Brenda 30 August 2012 (has links)
The exploration of the study was derived from the researcher’s experience and involvement in the Gauteng Department of Finance (GDF) which experienced gargantuan fatalities of recruited employees since 2009. The moratorium on recruitment process disadvantaged the department`s conditions as some employees were marooned for months. The researcher wondered how profound the staff turnover might have had the influence on the quality of services being delivered to the service customers. In most cases conducting recruitment process is expensive. It requires adequate time to ensure that resources are satisfactorily positioned, while retaining the existing workforce is tricky noting the cultural challenges and trepidation.

Satisfação profissional do enfermeiro docente no ensino superior de enfermagem / Job satisfaction of teaching staff nurses at a higher education level

Ferreira, Elaine Maria 10 June 2010 (has links)
This study aimed to know the professional satisfaction of teaching staff nurses from undergraduate nursing courses at the municipal district of São Paulo and identify the factors related to their satisfaction and dissatisfaction at work. It is a descriptive, exploratory research with quantitative and qualitative data approach. The project was submitted to the appreciation of the Ethics Committee in Research from the Federal University of São Paulo, receiving the approval number 1539. The sample was made up of 90 teaching staff nurses that followed their professional activities in 10 of the 23 universities that offered the undergraduate nursing courses in the municipal district of São Paulo in 2007. For the quantitative approach the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire for Teachers and the analysis made according to the framework of the descriptive statistics was used. In the qualitative approach, interviews were made, which were submitted to content analysis according to Bardin. Both analyses were guided by educational referentials and followed by the line of study of Herzberg which referred to satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors at work. The quantitative results showed that working directly with students, the relationship with work and personal achievement are all relevant factors to the satisfaction of the nursing teaching staff, as well as social political factors which were prone to dissatisfaction. In the qualitative analysis, satisfaction was evident in the following categories: Enjoying Teaching, Search for New Knowledge, Relationship between Pairs, Teacher Student Relationship, Being Acknowledged, Students Interest in Learning and Students Development. Regarding the dissatisfaction, the categories that came up were Poor Management, Deficient Knowledge from the Starting Student, Deficit of Resources for Teaching, Research on the Detriment of Undergraduate Teaching, Work Overload and the Low Salary and Instability in the Job. In short, the study showed that the teaching staff members presented low levels of satisfaction resultant because of the balance between the satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors aforementioned. In conclusion, it was expressed, in view of all factors that points needed to be worked on in different degrees in order for the staff members to be able to improve their satisfaction levels.

Evidências da satisfação no trabalho com base nas demonstrações financeiras publicadas / Evidences of job satisfaction based in published financial statements

Guskuma, Edilmar Arakaki 17 December 2009 (has links)
Companies are becoming increasingly concerned about issues such as motivation, organizational climate and job satisfaction, as these aspects can represent true competitive advantages, also influencing the companys very performance. On the other hand, Financial Accounting has contributed little or nothing to the development of tools or models for the evidencing or measuring of these subjects. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to verify whether Financial Accounting, through the published financial statements of companies, can contribute in the evidencing of employees job satisfaction. To this effect, the study seeks to test whether published financial statements can be a relevant source of information relating to job satisfaction, thus promoting greater integration of Financial Accounting with people management. The data used in the survey was provided by FIA and by FIPECAFI (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Contábeis, Atuariais e Financeiras), bases utilized for the preparation of the magazines 150 Melhores Empresas para Trabalhar and Melhores e Maiores as 500 Maiores Empresas do País, respectively. The study considers 19 variables that are both quantitative and qualitative, and the statistical model of logistic regression is applied with the objective of determining the likelihood of a given company belonging to the group of companies awarded in the survey conducted by FIA, adopting the assumption that said award-winning companies had favorable organizational climate and job satisfaction. The models considering all the variables simultaneously and by the stepwise method were not approved in all the logistic regression assumptions. Alternatively, a model is shown that observes all these assumptions, but that only considered the variables (i) employee-created wealth, (ii) expenses with salary and charges by employee, (iii) stock option program, (iv) awards obtained by the company, (v) own environmental management programs and (vi) controlling interest. In spite of its low predictive power, the above mentioned model suggests that there are signs that financial statements can be a source of information relating to the issue of job satisfaction of company employees.

Arbetsmotivation : En kvantitativ studie om hur arbetstillfredsställelse och feedback samverkar med motivationen hos personliga assistenter / Work motivation : A quantitative study on how job satisfaction and feedback affect the motivation of personal assistants

Landegren, Stina, Persson, Jessica January 2019 (has links)
In this quantitative study, the purpose was to investigate how job satisfaction and feedback relate to work motivation of municipal personal assistants in municipal activities.  The sample in this study consisted of personal assistants working in a small municipality in Västra Götaland. The Relationship Between McGregor’s Leadership Theory and Happiness Among Higher Educational Leaders

Unknown Date (has links)
The purpose of this research was to determine if a relationship exists between McGregor’s Leadership Theory and subjective states of well-being among higher educational leaders in state and community colleges in Florida. The underlying supposition was that the preference for what Douglas McGregor called Theory X or Theory Y assumptions, indicate intrinsic assumptions about human nature and are linked to subjective happiness. Quantitative data were collected through electronic administration of two surveys and demographic questions to higher educational leaders at 28 state and community colleges in the State of Florida. These instruments measured levels of well-being through the PERMA-Profiler instrument and preferences for Theory X or Theory Y using the Theory X and Theory Y Managerial Assumptions Inventory. Multiple correlation and regression analyses were used to address the research questions. This study detected no relationship between well-being and happiness in this sample. / Includes bibliography. / Dissertation (Ph.D.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2017. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

Organisational commitment and job satisfaction as antecedents of organisational citizenship behaviour at the water utility company in Gauteng

Motaung, Thembi Laura 09 1900 (has links)
M. Tech. (Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences), Vaal University of Technology / Organisations need employees who are willing to go beyond the requirements of the job to contribute to the organisation’s effectiveness. An evolving trend in the organisational behaviour literature indicates that job satisfaction (JS) and organisational commitment (OC) are attitudes that have a major impact on organisational outcomes such as productivity, job performance, turnover intentions and organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB). Although the relationship between the aforementioned constructs is considered important, there is a paucity of research about the relationship between these constructs in the context of the water utility company. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the impact of organisational commitment and job satisfaction on organisational citizenship behaviour at the water utility company in Gauteng. A quantitative research approach and a survey-based descriptive research method were used to achieve the primary objective. A structured questionnaire was issued to 400 randomly sampled respondents. Furthermore, means and factor analysis were performed to determine the level of job satisfaction, organisational commitment and organisational citizenship behaviour of employees and to establish the underlying factors of the constructs respectively. Additionally, a correlation analysis was conducted to establish the strength and direction of the relationship between the factors. Finally, a regression analysis was performed to confirm the predictive relationship between factors. The findings of this study showed a positive correlation between affective commitment, indebted obligation and moral imperative; JS and OCB; and no predictive relationship was observed between continuance commitment and OCB. Based on the findings, it was recommended that JS should be improved through mechanisms such as job-fit, job enrichment and career advancement. Furthermore, performance-related pay and mentorship programmes should be introduced to improve employees’ organisational commitment. Finally, recognition should be given to employees to encourage them to maintain their willingness to display citizenship behaviours.
