Aprender com o corpo: estabelecendo relações entre a psicologia analítica e as técnicas corporais taoístas / Learning with the body: establishing relations between analytical psychology and taoist body techniques

Rinaldo Miorim 22 May 2006 (has links)
The present research consists of a theoretical study that intends to relate the principles which guide the body techniques based on taoist philosophy to some concepts of the analytical psychology. As a main point, it is centered on the process of the personality development. In order to systematize the subject through the analysis of some topics, a bibliographic review has been made. It begins with the taoist therapeutic body technique qigong (chi kun) being historically situated. Then, it approaches the clinical researches that intend to validate its therapeutic effects and, mainly, with the exploration of some philosophical concepts in which it is based. After that, the psychosomatic perspective is focused as a reference to the healthiness and illness processes, and some psychological body techniques, such as the relaxation, are emphasized. Beginning with those elements, relations between taoist body and meditative techniques and the individuation process have been identified in C.G. Jung´s studies. The body, considered as an intervention instrument, through the exercises of relaxation, stretching, breathing and meditation can explain the taoist body techniques regarding its therapeutic benefits as a way to pursuit the energy harmony, called qi, as well as the yin and yang aspects, which would culminate not only in the body health but also in the psychic harmony gained by the identification with a major consciousness called Tao in that philosophy. On the other hand, analytical psychology gives more attention to the body manifestations as symbolic expressions, since the body work in this approach intends to facilitate the dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious aspects of personality, aiming at increasing the integration between them, what meets the essence of the individuation process. Thus, it has been observed that, regarding body and psychic development, both approaches may converge, provided that their peculiarities are respected. There is not only a parallel, but also a complementarity between the individuation process concept described in the analytical psychology and the aims and methods of development proposed by taoist philosophers. Moreover, this research indicates the need for further studies which are able to identify more precisely the contribution of Eastern thoughts, mainly of the taoist philosophy, to Jung´s theorical work, as well as the influence of Jung´s thoughts in the Western interpretation of taoist philosophy.

Jungiánský archetyp v současné západní k inematografii aneb forma a obsah filmového vyprávění o archetypech / Jungian shadow archetype in contemporary western cinema

Reich, Michal January 2012 (has links)
The main topic of this diploma thesis is the form and content of jungian shadow archetype in contemporary western cinema. In the first chapters it introduces the basic concepts of analytical psychology, which will be used as the principal method for analysis of the selected films (Fight Club, Game, Black Swan, Fisher King). The key concept is that in the core of each story are hidden archetypal contents. According to jungians these are the main force behind emotional response of audience. In films they can be portrayed either directly ? by personification into a film characters whose numinosity is supported by film language ? or indirectly ? by narrative elements and character's functions. The thesis concentrates on both options and analyzes formal means which express psychic nature of the selected film's elements. It defines three phases of ego-shadow relationship which are vaguely similar to three acts structure. It examines shadow archetype's function in the story and in human psychology as well. The results are put into context of jungian concepts. Rather than creating a complex system, the thesis outlines another option how to think about film and film language, which is deeply rooted in human psychology.

The spiritual writings of St. John of the Cross are used as a source of mystical description of the phenomenon. Initially, an interpretation of the concept of spirituality from Analytical Psychology was created. This interpretation – based on the theory of archetypes and the collective unconscious with its biological implications – pointed evolutionism as an important hermeneutical key to the understanding of spirituality and mysticism. Evolutionism, a central issue for Rahner while dialectics in which matter progressively acquires the characteristics of the spirit (self-awareness and openness to the Mystery of God), thus proved a possible link between Jung and Rahner in the analysis of mystical experience. In developing this work central themes were brought in Jung's work (such as the symbolism of the Self , the conjunction of opposites, the alchemy) and compared with the metaphysical concepts used by Rahner. This combination of thought of both authors proportionate the mystical interpretation from an evolutionary point of view, which implied considerations on the most current areas of scientific psychology, especially neuropsychology. The attempted synthesis of broad fields of knowledge that is this dissertation is something important to the current state of science, admittedly fragmentary and scattered on specific topics. This reason justifies a job in the mold of an exploratory study where they stand in general essential and relevant connections between different theories, connections that make more visible the nature of its objects and its relation to human existence.

Sassenfeld Jorquera, André January 2004 (has links) (PDF)

Experimentation, diversity, and feeling : Adolph Gottlieb’s career in painting reconsidered

Katzin, Jeffrey James 17 September 2013 (has links)
Adolph Gottlieb’s (1903–1974) mature career in abstract painting has been described in previous scholarship in terms of three phases: the time of his Pictograph paintings, beginning in 1941; a period of transition primarily involving his Imaginary Landscape paintings, beginning in 1951; and the time of his Burst paintings, from 1956 until his death. Dividing the artist’s career into early, transitional, and late periods has provided scholars with a clear and tidy narrative as a basis for interpretations of his work. However, in this thesis I argue that this schematization, created in hindsight, has obscured the character of Gottlieb’s working process as it occurred in real time. By nature, Gottlieb would not have been content to produce only a few narrow varieties of painting over a thirty-year period. I thus advance a new conception of Gottlieb as an inventive and constantly adventurous artist. ----- To make these claims, I examine Gottlieb’s written and spoken statements in order to define his central terminology (words like “feeling” and “self-discovery”) and to investigate his interests in myth and alchemy. I find that his work in painting was deeply intuitive and literally experimental—Gottlieb could not predict whether a painting would succeed until he had completed it, and so his career was an iterative process of painting, observing the results, and then painting again. I go on to consider Gottlieb’s paintings themselves as a record of how this experimental process functioned in practice. By presenting his diverse body of work in its full breadth, I demonstrate that the artist was not limited by his major styles, and indeed that he always presented himself with multiple possibilities. I conclude that Gottlieb’s work remains vital because he worked without an end goal or predetermined outcome in mind, and instead gave himself over to a continuous process of creativity and discovery. / text

Having as main theoretic reference the concepts of Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) on the archetypes and the collective unconscious, in this work I propose to demonstrate how the universal symbolic tenor is manifested in the individual artistic expression of the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch (1863- 1944). I put into perspective images that portray the woman and the relations of affection between man and woman, that the artist produced in the second phase of his career, between 1889 and 1908. Notwithstanding those refer to the personal view of the artist, they simultaneously bring forth the “new woman” that emerged in the society then. Thus, in contextualizing Munch´s artistic production and analyzing its symbolic content, I propose to show how the work of art can express, far beyond the private conflicts and idiosyncrasies of its author, the spirit of the time in which it was created, through universal themes.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Marcia Baptista.pdf: 284158 bytes, checksum: d96d3ce5b650000348cc060b3a0f671d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-05-26 / This study seeks to explore the use of Carl Gustav Jung s theory of psychological types as an important diagnostical tool, providing guidelines to child treatment as well as to the orientation of the child s family and the professionals envolved. Researches already conducted into the adult world have come to corroborate the relevance of the use of both the four functions and the two attitudes described by Jung s theory for a better understanding of people s lives and conducts. This work aims at evaluating the importance of Jung s four functions and two attitudes in the process of forming and structuring the conscience throughout the first childhood, using Junguian typology as a means to understand the psychological dynamics of the child in general. The results of our research reveal that these psychological attitudes and functions play a fundamental role in the development of the child s ego and that Junguian typology is a system that allows for the understanding of the clinic data related to the early years of human life as well as for an accurate psychodiagnosis of the child patient; moreover, it may work as a tool for the understanding of family dynamics, propitiating communication and respect towards each member s individuality / Este estudo visa explorar o uso da teoria dos tipos psicológicos desenvolvida por Carl Gustav Jung dentro da prática clínica infantil como instrumento diagnóstico, fornecendo dados norteadores para intervenção no trabalho com crianças e também na orientação à família e profissionais envolvidos.
