Uncovering learning outcomes: explicating obscurity in learning of aesthetics in design and technology educationHaupt, G, Blignaut, S 01 May 2007 (has links)
Abstract
Education and training interventions can be evaluated through the success of learning
outcomes. Kirkpatrick's four-level model is a widely accepted and highly popular
evaluation tool. However, some criticise the model's shortcomings. This article will
examine the extent to which the four-level model can evaluate design and technology
students' learning about aesthetics after an intervention by reporting our use of an
augmented version of the four-level model. We examine the results in terms of students'
reaction to the intervention, their long-term learning and their behaviour changes by
studying their visual analyses and drawings through segment codes. We found that, in
order to uncover the obscurities imbedded in aesthetics and to explicate the complexities,
we could not use the four-level-model on its own, but had to revert to a more augmented
version.

EFFICACY OF THE BASIC RIDERCOURSE UPDATED TO PREVENT CRASHES, INJURIES, AND DEATHS ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS: A KIRKPATRICK EVALUATIONMayer, Levi William 01 December 2022 (has links)
It is unknown if basic motorcycle training prevents crashes, injuries, or deaths on public roadways. This research analyzes the participants of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic RiderCourse updated to understand risk-taking tendencies, personal protective equipment usage, and favorability of the Basic RiderCourse. Data gathered from 168 Basic RiderCourse updated participants in Central Illinois from a pre-test post-test quantitative design using a gain score analysis comprise the methodology. The resulting analysis determined the Basic RiderCourse updated created a positive learning environment and student were more likely to wear personal protective equipment after participating in the course, but the risk-taking behavior and decision making did not change. To further reduce injuries and deaths on public roadways, this research suggests a comprehensive program review of the Basic RiderCourse updated.

Training Satisfaction of Behavioral Health Providers Treating Older Adult Substance UseCrosse-Wynn, Claudia LPC 01 January 2019 (has links)
Substance use disorders among the baby boomer generation are steadily increasing, but knowledge and training satisfaction regarding older adult substance use disorders among behavioral health providers (BHPs) has not been explored. Using the Kirkpatrick evaluation model, this quantitative study involved an examination of the knowledge and training satisfaction of four behavioral provider groups: addiction counselors, licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists/social workers, and psychologists. Each participant (N = 154) completed a demographic questionnaire, satisfaction questionnaire, and the Alcohol and Older Adult Questionnaire to measure knowledge level on older adult substance use disorders. The results showed that licensed professional counselors held significantly higher levels of knowledge than any other BHP group. There were no significant differences between BHPs regarding satisfaction with training on older adult substance use disorders. No relationship was found between BHP satisfaction and BHP knowledge scores, even when considering the number of years, a BHP was licensed. Therefore, the findings of this study may encourage more training for BHPs aside from licenses professional counselors as well as future research on BHPs treating older adult substance use disorders.

Diplomacy Rhetoric and the Human Rights Appeals of Jeane J. Kirkpatrick and Vernon A. WaltersRogina, Sergio A. (Sergio Armando) 05 1900 (has links)
This thesis investigates the extent to which Ambassador Kirkpatrick's and Ambassador Walters' United Nations discourses on human rights reflects the rhetorical themes of "prophetic dualism" and "technocratic realism." A metaphoric analysis of six speeches reveals that both Kirkpatrick's and Walters' arguments were framed through an ideological division between Democracy and Communism. The presence of "prophetic dualism" in Kirkpatrick's and Walters' discourses is explained as an extension of President Reagan's bipolar rhetoric on world affairs. The presence of "technocratic realism" in Walters' discourse is described as resulting from a unique set of political and rhetorical factors. The exacting nature of "prophetic dualism" may make it ill suited as a method of argument in the realm of diplomacy.

Aha eller Blaha? Resultat av en företagsintern utbildning, med fokus på ackommodation, assimilation och transfer / Aha or Blah-blah? Results of an in-house company training, focusing on accommodation, assimilation and transferGeorgson Petrén, Mattias, Söderberg Fång, Linda January 2024 (has links)

The Impact of e-Learning Environment on Learning Outcomes¡ÐBased on SECI Model of Knowledge CreationWang, Hui-Ju 23 August 2005 (has links)
E-learning became the trend in view of the fact that computer technology and the rapidity of globalization had revolutionized the atmosphere of learning as well as education more than ever during the 21st century. The core intention of this study is to present the correlation between e-learning environment and learning outcome based on knowledge creation model from the view point of knowledge management. The SECI model suggested by Nonaka & Takuichi (1995) and Ba model suggested by Nonaka & Konno (1998) were used to divide e-learning environment into four divisions including original ba, dialoguing ba, systemizing ba, and exercising ba. Each diverse division supported a certain knowledge creation behavior counting socialization, externalization, combination, as well as internalization. Designed questionnaires were given to gather study information and further statistic data in order to observe whether knowledge creation behaviors related to learning outcomes. The results demonstrated that four e-learning environments facilitated the four knowledge creation behaviors; along with these knowledge creation behaviors kept up a correspondence with learning outcome. To conclude, the findings of this study supported both SECI model and Ba model. In addition, the final results also proved both theories worked in virtual along with the realistic world.
