break with the Dadaist Marcel Duchamp urinal. throughthe audiovisual language its
had continuation in a new hybrid language, wich it will be deified by Futurism Italian
artists who will recognize in the new language a mimesis of his new world. The
futurist Luigi Russolo is regarded as an artist pioneer in research, trials and uses
noise as a major element in his artistic praxis that transcends the avant-garde
movement of Italian Futurism and presents resignified throughout the different art
forms of the twentieth century. Before Russolo write The Art of Noisesin 1913, noise
as element was already present in some way in the arts pictorial post Impressionists
of the late nineteenth century and the beginning of the modernist avant-garde, such
as the Cubist collages of George Braque and clearly in the draft redefinition of
appreciation, enjoyment and production of art designed by Marcel Duchamp. Both
conceptually and formally the importance of using the noise can be synthesized in
the proposals of the Italian Futurists, adopting noise like a strong aesthetic element
that can be found throughout interdisciplinarity that provides it. However, in Luigi
Russolo noise is studied and used beyond the aesthetic or semiotic fields, noise
becomes a vital practice of the artist, increasingly used and is embodied in the
research and work of iconic artists such as the south korean Nam June Paik, pioneer
of videoart and the new yorker band Sonic Youth, that among all recording and video
production controlled by the cultural industry of the 90's, stands out for using the
noise in a intersemiotic way, exploring the relationship between the audio and visual
languages, seeking to create a common thread, a structure that aligns the different
artistic productions that allied art to technology in early last century.

Previous issue date: 2016-08-16 / The objetive of our work is the analysis of the transposition from the literary work The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak, to its filmic version, directed by Brian Percival. In order to walk this path, we have to study, firstly in independent chapters, Literature and Cinema. This Art occupies the first chapter of our work, where the history of films runs through the 20th century, along historical events such as the Second World War (1939-1945), the subject of our analysis, The Book Thief, which, in book and film, produces an historical make-up from this dramatic episode. We sought for the explanating on how the film industry arrives at the 21st century and by which way the hollywood machine of producing films explains the marketing question, since it contains the filmic master productions as a foundation. On the second chapter, we study the literary narrative and, particularly, the structure that is able to define the therm best-seller, starting from the worldwide selling success of Zusak‟s work. On the third chapter, based on Linda Hutcheon‟s theory, we analyze how the transposition from a book to a film happens, if its fidelity is fundamental and, specially, what changes and what remains in this passage between two narrative structures. We highlight how this transposition occurred in The Book Thief, by the comparison of books‟ parts to its filmic scenes. We find, on the study of this work, few differences between both narratives, literary and filmic. Our analysis path is based on other theories, such as: Fernando Mascarello (History of the World Cinema); Tânia Pellegrini (Literature, Cinema and Television) and Ismail Xavier (The Filmic Speech – Opacity and Transparency). – Those three books were not translated to English, so we wrote the correspondent words in English for their books. – We have elected literary theorics such as Vítor Manuel de Aguiar e Silva; Antonio Candido; Jonathan Culler, Terry Eagleton; Cândida Vilares Gancho and Roberto Acízelo de Souza.

Previous issue date: 2016-10-26 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / This research proposes to analyze the first novel by Elomar, Sertanílias - Cavalry Novel published in 2008, for the following purposes: to understand the approach that it is the medieval foundations and evaluate the reconfiguration of its narrative from the referent the Bahian backlands, specifically the regions known as "hinterland Surf" and the Middle San Francisco. Developed discussions were based on two assumptions: the cycles of medieval narratives, still present in the traditions of orality and therefore in the collective memory of the frontiersman were reconstructed in that novel and incorporated into local legends; the medieval knight is recovered in idealized construction of the protagonist figure. To treat the operating elements in the process of replacing the narrative focus for a screenplay, we seek support in Alfredo Carvalho considerations about the narrative focus, and respect the fundamental principles of movie theater, consider the concepts of Jean-Claude Bernardet. About the research concerning the fantastic aspects present in the work, we rely on theoretical assumptions of the authors Tzvetan Todorov, Irlemar Chiampi, Selma Calasan Rodrigues, Ana Luiza Camarani. In order to apprehend the discursive level of recurring fantastic in the novel and ascertained the structural and semantic aspects of argumentative field of work, guided by the question: how the author potentiates the beliefs and backcountry cultures from a fantastic approach? We defined the objective of research: a) realize how Elomar builds fantastic language appropriating the backwoods of reference. b) understand how the characters are in the physical hinterland and medieval mythical hinterland proposed in the narrative structure. c) show the argumentative bias adopted by the author in the preparation of country language process. d) learn the procedures adopted by the author during the construction of the concept of hinterland and backcountry in the fictional sense. Regarding the methodological aspects, we turn to literature interviews, newspaper collections, books, periodicals, articles, and videos, interview with the author; sources of which bring a considerable amount of information to enrich the discussions proposed in this research.

Previous issue date: 2016-06-22 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The general objective of this research is to study some adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe to the
cinema while the specific objectives are summarized as following: a) to reflect on the literary
Gothic, trying to identify its main strategies of representation; b) to investigate the
fundamental lines which define the gothic base of the tales and films in order to establish
relations between them; c) to analyze the verbal and cinematographic narratives, highlighting
the degree of distance and approach between them by recreating the narrative structure; d) to
check the level of aesthetic autonomy of the filmic productions in relation to the literary work.
As corpus four short stories were selected: “The fall of the house of Usher”,
“Metzengerstein”, “William Wilson” and “Never bet the devil your head ― a moral tale”, by
Poe; and two films: The fall of the house of Usher and Histoires extraordinaires. The research
goes in two directions: firstly, we discuss the Gothic, trying to understand the American
Gothic and stand Poe on this aesthetic; secondly, we proceed an interpretative analysis of the
narrative texts and after that, based on the verification of inversions and omissions, additions
and displacements, we analyze the filmic texts as adaptations. Specifically, it tries to detect
from which mechanisms the cinematographic works dialogue with Poe’s work, that is, in
what extent they update the nineteenth century work. This thesis is justified by its
contribution to the expansion of the theoretical framework of the analysis of adaptations of
literary works to the filmic medium and to allow Poe’s work to remain alive in the
public/reader’s memory. We hypothesized that there is a dialogue among the different
discourses, in order to show that verbal, performative, kinetic and audiovisual elements
contribute significantly to the contemporary interpretation of Poe's work.
estabelecer relações entre eles; c) analisar as narrativas verbais e as cinematográficas,
Como corpus foram selecionados quatro contos: “The fall of the house
of Usher”, “Metzengerstein”, “William Wilson” e “Never bet the devil your head ― a moral
tale”, de Poe; e dois filmes: The fall of the house of Usher e Histoires extraordinaires. A

Previous issue date: 2016-03-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Manoel de Barros is a poet and as defines itself, "word of poet", whose poems are closely
related to the Pantanal (South) of Mato Grosso, putting on display the close relationship
between the work and the context. We search to answer along the thesis, three questions: if
the "poetic inspiration" by Manoel de Barros transcends his personal experience in his books,
or the place and time where pronounced are so present in the works that ultimately enroll
them autobiography traces; if the traits that make up the poetic writer can do (or not) identify
in their works a poet "local" or a universalizing poetic; such as (South) Mato Grosso writer,
chronologically enrolled in the "45 generation" articulates tradition and innovation in his
poetic construction. Confirming or deconstructing "truths" published on the poetics of the
author and searching new constructs and aesthetic effects that literary production, we have the
following objectives: identify regularities and dispersions in the form and content of the
poems; discuss the relationship between local and universal, between tradition and modernity,
between memory and invention and among selves / others who live in the works; search
identifying traits of poetic writer. To this end, we elected as corpus of research two works of
Manoel de Barros: Poemas concebidos sem pecados (1937), the first book of the writer, and
Memórias inventadas: A terceira infância (2008), searching to bridge the gap between the
first and one of the last books the poet. Compliance with the proposed objectives requires,
however, in addition to "face" the work, to provide himself with a theoretical foundation.
Thus, we use of Candido (2000) to treat the issue of the location of the dialectic and universal
literary decolonization, as well as the relationship of author-work-public. To clarify concepts
or principles "technical" essential to the analysis, such as "tradition," "influence" and
"intertextuality", we called to Nitrini (2000), to whom we add Bakhtin (2011), mainly to treat
style, aesthetics and exotopy, and Paz (1972; 1991). For understanding the concept of
identity, the support came from Hall (2011) and other invited authors to the reflections on
identity and memory, as Gusdorf (1951, 1990, 1991), Bergson (2006), Halbwachs (2003),
Ricoeur (2007) and Candau (2014). In addition to these authors, some others will emerge in
due course, because indispensable to poetry reading Manoel de Barros. We found that Barros
excluded from his poetry any purpose of describing landscapes or historicizing costumes,
putting on display the dialogue, rapprochement and the gap between the selves, times and
spaces. Barros attributed his lyricism to "a desert in the eye" and to express it, took a
seemingly autobiographical format, just like the invention feature because sang "what was
not," but what had missing "for not having been "revealing us exotopy spoken by Bakhtin
(2011). From our reading, the memory was not as "representation" but as "eye divination" in
tone and unmistakable verses of Manoel de Barros.
(2007) e Candau (2014).
Barros.

Previous issue date: 2015-08-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / For the first time in 2006, Brazilian Federal Government included comics in the
national program for libraries at schools, thus emphasizing the acceptance of comics
adaptations of great literary oeuvres – literary classics – and encouraging publishing
houses to release, from that year on, several works of this genre. Considering the
commercial interest of the publishing houses, as well as the reasons that base the
acceptance of this production by the government (use of adaptations in the
educational context aimed at the formation of literature readers, or more specifically,
readers of literary classics), this paper has the objective of investigating whether
comics adaptations can help the formation of young readers and provide access to
the aesthetics of the canonic literary hypotext as well as the aesthetics of comics. To
reach this objective, O cortiço by Aluísio Azevedo and Dom Casmurro by Machado
de Assis will be compared to their respective comics adaptations, both produced by
Ivan Jaf and Rodrigo Rosa and published by Ática. It is worth noting that such
comparative analysis can be made in the classroom, provided that it is adapted to
this production context, so as to make the young reader realize that appreciating a
comics adaptation of a literary work is a different experience from the appreciation of
the literary classic itself.
várias obras do gênero.

Previous issue date: 2015-08-19 / This dissertation minds the formal aspects of the film Pulp Fiction (1994), by Quentin
Tarantino, under a perspective of intermediality. Henceforth, it aims to assess the extent
in which the director’s style fall back on signs and meaning settlements inherent to the
language of other means of communication, such as the television, the comic books,
video games and the past of the cinema itself. In these terms, the research divides itself
into three main segments: the examination of the film narrative procedures (that concerns
temporal ellipsis, flashbacks and a round structure intricate by three parallel stories);
followed up by the discussion regarding the ostensive violence on the screen (which
comprehends to the graphic violence stylization grounded on the saturation of visual
signs and on the hybridization of different medias) and the analysis of dialogue
constitution (which are granted within the Socratic dialogue and the post-modern
conception of parody). In synthesis, in order to sustain the assumption that Pulp Fiction
(1994) configures itself as a post-modern exponent, this research relies on the critical
thoughts from authors who worked both with film and intermediality theories, as with
language and post-modernity theories, such as Mauro Baptista Vedia (2010), Linda
Hutcheon (1991) e Mikhail Bakhtin (1984).
Baptista Vedia (2010), Linda Hutcheon (1991) e Mikhail Bakhtin (1984).

Previous issue date: 2017-06-14 / Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie / Literature, as a typical phenomenon of the sphere of the imponderable, of the artistic, is more often seen as a possible alternative of dialogue between the individual and his immediate reality, understanding in the role of the individual both the figure of the author and the reader, through a relationship sometimes guided by interpretation, contestation, reconfiguration, re-creation or even as a strategy of sublimation - often the only possible way of being in the world - to stand in the face of a daily life so contrary to the vital force, the organic nature of any living being, perhaps of human nature - mechanisms of escapism of oppressive and dehumanizing experiences, a weapon more than powerful and efficient of combat. It was in this day and age that Agostinho de Hipona and José Saramago discovered the raw material to compose their writings. This work intends to investigate how authors who are so far apart, have become forceful interpreters of their realities, translators and voices of such particularities, approaching their texts through the study of the dialogical nature that guides their discourses, to understand the intertwining of texts, the overlapping of ideologies, the contribution of the religious philosophical discourse of the fifth century to the literary discourse of contemporaneity. To investigate the movement of approach, overlapping and detachment that transits between the high tone of the soliloquy, a dialogical gender by nature, which is configured as the interiorized voice of the individual in confessional posture present in the work Confissões, to the tone of the burlesque dialogue between Caim and Deus, to the humorous saying, the "Socratic irony" that produces the carnival laughter so scathing that it is present in the parody novel Caim.
The purpose here is to rescue, in the contemporary Portuguese novel, Caim, by José Saramago, the transfiguration of the menipéia satire, comic-serious genre of Classical Antiquity, also present in the confessional autobiographical text of Agostinho de Hipona, Confissões, as a phenomenon of dialogic intersection, from the study on Bakhtinian interdiscursivity. As a theoretical basis of support, the Bakhtinian concepts present in Problemas da Poética de Dostoievski and Questões de Literatura e de Estética – A Teoria do Romance, among other texts also written by the Russian linguist, as well as the voices of Other specialists, as translators and interpreters of the theoretical legacy of Mikhail Bakhtin, to compose the theoretical support on which this research is based.

Previous issue date: 2017-08-14 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In contemporary literature, the frontiers between literary genres, as well as the frontiers
between literature and other genres of other areas, are becoming more and more tenuous,
appearing as a kind of hybridity impelled by the dynamics of discourses, constantly
changing. Appearing in the most diverse fields of knowledge, the essay has always been
present in the field of sciences, especially in Philosophy, mainly from Montaigne, as well
as in literature, with Francis Bacon, in which it usually receives the title of "literary essay".
However, research on the role of literary criticism in Portuguese and the implications of the
essay as a genre for theory of literature and literary production, able to comprehend the
intrinsic aspects of the essay, is lacking, as well as an understanding on the essay as a
genre or discoursive domain able to unite different subgenres from the frontiers between
literature and philosophy, or even science itself. This thesis, by means of a hermeneutic
methodology, aims to investigate the essay as an inherent element of the work of the
Portuguese writer José Saramago, with emphasis on the following works: Claraboia (2011)
and The intermittences of death (2014). This choice contrasts two distinct phases of the
literary production of the writer: the beginning and the end of his career, in order to verify
to what extent essayistic procedures are plotted in the literary prose of the author in these
two distinct phases, before and after The Statue and the stone (2013). In such works, as
well as in all the running of his literary production, aspects and procedures stand out in
relation to the aesthetic elements of the essay. In order to discuss and analyze such
questions in the work of Saramago, we will prioritize, as theoretical reference, fundamental
authors of the field of philosophy that deal with the essay: Montaigne, George Lukács,
Max Bense, Theodor Adorno, João Barrento, as well as other contemporary authors in the
field of literature and philosophy. Thus, in combining essay and novel, in an experimental,
singular and always ironic way, Saramago obtains a powerful support to reinvent reality, in
the sense of representing, under the sieve of the word, the human condition, giving the
novel an artistic dimension of essentially critical aspect, an essayistic aspect.
distintos subgêneros a ele submetidos.
A escolha coteja duas fases
próprios do ensaio.
