Texte et images des manuscrits du Merlin et de la Suite Vulgate : mise en cycle et poétique de la continuation ou suite et fin d'un roman de Merlin ? / Text and images : the manuscripts of the French prose Merlin and its Vulgate Sequel

Rédigée dans la première moitié du XIIIe siècle, la Suite Vulgate est une continuation du Merlin en prose qui constitue la dernière pièce du cycle du Graal. Partagée entre le déroulement de la vie de Merlin, qui lui donne une unité de type biographique, et la peinture de la jeunesse héroïque du roi Arthur, cette suite rétrospective sert de transition vers le Lancelot. Son succès s'affirme aux dépens d'autres continuations du Merlin dont la transmission manuscrite semble par comparaison marginale, et dont le projet demeure parfois inabouti. Ces différentes rédactions exposent la dynamique d'écriture et l'émulation suscitées par le développement de la prose arthurienne et l'effort de mise en cycle. L'étude de la mise en recueil, de la mise en page et de l'illustration des manuscrits comprenant le Merlin et ses suites éclaire le mode de production et de réception de ces oeuvres qui continuent d'être copiées et enluminées tout au long du Moyen Age. Le Merlin et la Suite Vulgate, le plus souvent intégrés à des compilations centrées sur l'histoire du Graal, entretiennent un lien particulier avec le Joseph d'Arimathie, l'Estoire del saint Graal et les Prophéties de Merlin, mais circulent aussi dans des recueils d'ambition didactique ou historique. Si l'écriture de la Suite Vulgate favorise l'intégration cyclique du Merlin propre, ces textes et leurs programmes iconographiques développent une veine militaire et historique qui interroge leur appartenance générique et tranche avec l'orientation religieuse ou courtoise des autres oeuvres de la Vulgate arthurienne. / The Vulgate Sequel to the French prose Merlin was composed in the first half of the XIIIth century and is the last piece of the Grail cycle. It creates a wider story encompassing the life of Merlin and the beginnings of King Arthur’s reign and serves as a prequel to the prose Lancelot. The Vulgate Sequel is the most widespread, but the existence of different sequels demonstrates the poetic dynamism and the rivalry produced by the development of Arthurian prose romances and their cyclification. Our study of the manuscript collections including Merlin and its sequels, of their mise en page and illuminations sheds new lights on the production and reception of works which were copied throughout the Middle Ages. Merlin and its Sequel are mostly transmitted in compilations focusing on the history of the Grail: they have a particular relationship to the Joseph of Arimathia, the Estoire del saint Graal and the Prophecies of Merlin. In some manuscripts, Merlin and its Sequel are copied with texts which do not belong to the Arthurian tradition, such as hagiographies or pastoral works, demonstrating their religious and didactic interest. Other compilations stress their historical and chivalric aspect. The Vulgate Sequel and its illumination accentuate the historical aspect of Merlin while giving an epic flavour to the beginnings of King Arthur's reign. This spirit might contradict the perspective of its integration in the romance Vulgate cycle, but it echoes the missionary dimension of the Estoire del saint Graal and resonates with the military conflicts of Lancelot and of the Mort le roi Artu.

Adaptation of Software Testability Concept for Test Suite Generation : A systematic review

Context: Software testability, which is the degree to which a software artifact facilitates process of testing, is not only the indication of the test process effectiveness but also gives the new perspective on code development. Since more than fifty percent of total software development costs is related to testing process activities, Software testability has always been the improving area in software domain so that we can make the software development process effective with respect to test cases writing and fault detection process. Objectives: The research though this thesis will have the objective of proposing a conceptual framework considering the testability issues for the simpler test suite generation and facilitating the concerned persons with better effectiveness of testing. We investigate the testability factors and testability metrics basically with the help of the systematic literature review and the proposed framework’s feasibility is evaluated with case study. Methods: Initially, we conduct the literature review to get broad knowledge on this domain as well for the key documents. Then study starts with the systematic literature review process guided by the review protocol to collect the testability factors and measurements. The framework is validated with the case study. The research documents are included from highly trusted e-database including Compendex, Inspec, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, Springer Link and Scopus. Altogether 36 primary documents are included for the study and results are extracted. Results: From the results of systematic literature review, Software testability factors and associated measurements are found and the construction of framework for simple test generation as guidelines evaluate with case study. To make the test suite generation simpler, we propped a framework based on the FTA concepts and breakdown of high level testability factors to its simpler form of measureable level. Conclusions: Numbers of different software testability factors are presented in different researches in different perspectives. We collect important testability factors and associated measurement methods and we concluded the effect of testability in simpler test suite generation with the help of framework evaluated by case study.

A study into the main structural features of the Namaqua region and their relation to the intrusion of the Keimoes Suite

>Magister Scientiae - MSc / The thesis provides a study into the main structural features of the Namaqua Region and their relation to the intrusion of the Keimoes Suite. This was achieved by producing a digitized map of the Namaqua Region structural framework using a LandSAT image and MOVE software for remote sensing. The structural framework showed an array of shear zones and fault systems which trend in a NW-SE direction. The validation of the sense of movement, location and orientation of the shear zones was done by field mapping. The general orientation of all shear zones was NW-SE. The sense of movement along the Neusspruit, Boven Rugzeer and Trooilapspan shear zones was found to be dextral strike slip movement and the Cnydas shear zone had a sinistral strike slip movement. The location of the shear zones were determined by analyzing the deviation in general foliation trend which was visualized using Rose Diagrams. The field data and the remote sensing were found to agree with the transpressive environment of the Namaqua Region. The oblique collision of the Namaqua-Natal crustal block with the Kaapvaal Craton during the orogenic event at ~1.2 Ga created a compressionalgeotectonic setting which allowed for the intrusion of the early to late syn-tectonic Keimoes Suite granites. The lateral escape of the Namaqua-Natal crustal block took place along the western margin of the Kaapvaal Craton. This was brought on by prolonged compression which resulted in the formation of a releasing bend in the Namaqua Region. This releasing bend produced the negative flower structure with dextral shear zones which facilitated the intrusion of the post-tectonic Keimoes Suite granites.

Supporting Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team Dynamics with Business Process Management

[Context] Interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IHTs) include practitioners from different disciplines who collaborate for providing care to patients. IHTs often follow clinical workflows composed of tasks that must be executed by practitioners with specific capabilities. The membership in an IHT can however evolve over time for a given patient. [Problem] Existing Business Process Management (BPM) suites and their workflow execution engines are designed for supporting and monitoring general workflows, but they are insufficient in supporting the allocation of tasks to the most suitable practitioners during the execution of healthcare workflows in a dynamic context. [Methodology] Using Design Science Research, this thesis builds on top of an existing semantic layer, which includes an ontology defining IHT team concepts and relationships that are used to reason automatically about team dynamics, in order to add dynamic team management to BPM suites. It does so by proposing and designing middleware (including a generic interface) that enables the semantic layer to command the BPM suite to allocate suitable practitioners to tasks during the execution of clinical workflows. The design and implementation of this middleware are discussed, and the latter is tested on a commercial BPM suite for two realistic clinical processes. [Results] The proof-of-concept implementation demonstrates the feasibility of using middleware with a generic interface to add support for IHT executing BPM suite when managing a patient. In addition, the thesis also demonstrates that the ontology used in the semantic layer is minimal, that is, all of its concepts and relationships are necessary for the required team functionalities (usually absent from BPM tools) to work properly.

This paper analyzes the relevance of succession planning from today's labor market perspective. Consequently, it reviews the reasons, methods and limitations of external and internal hiring concluding that corporations should employ a balance of both. Research shows that succession planning provides a means for organizations to develop, retain and promote internal talent. Because succession planning often consists of opaque processes, emergency planning or unmethodical decisions, the thesis identifies whether succession software on the example of the Business Execution Suite from SuccessFactors can add value to conventional succession planning. Although this Software-as-a-Service solution does offer a variety of best practice tools, the author concludes that the success of a succession program moreover depends on systematic process and role definitions as well as a facilitating corporate culture. Secondary research, internal company documents and an expert interview support the author in finding conclusions.

The lecture recital was given on August 9, 1974. Chorale partitas by Sweelinck, Scheidt, B051hm, and Walther were performed following a lecture on the chorale partita in the Baroque period. The lecture included a discussion of the instruments that the partitas were written for and the functions for which they were written. The works of Sweelinck and Scheidt and their influence on later composers were discussed. A number of lesser-known composers and their works were mentioned. Also, there was a discussion of works by well-known composers such as Bohm, Pachelbel, Buxtehude, Walther, and Bach. In addition to the lecture recital, three other public recitals were performed, all of which consisted of solo compositions for the organ. The first solo recital, including works of Buxtehude, Bach, Walther, Pepping, ?ranck, Alain, and Durufle, was performed on July 18, 1971. On August 13, 1972 the second solo recital was performed. Compositions by Greene, Stanley, Searle, Willan, Dandrieu, Roger-Ducasse, and Langlais were included in the program. The third solo recital, which included works by Sweelinck, Bach, Guillou, and Reubke, was performed on June 5, 1974. The four programs were recorded on magnetic tape and are filed with the written version of the lecture material as a part of the dissertation.

The source code of components for FPGA is written in C++ programming language. For High-Level Synthesis is used Xilinx Vivado HLS tool. In the application are designed and implemented Sobel filter, Median filter, Bilateral filter and architecture for AdaBoost classificator. The extension of this work is implemented the component for network traffic. The component finds the begin of the packet.

Magmatic-petrogenetic & structural relationships of the Peninsula Granite of the Cape Granite Suite (CGS) with the Malmesbury Group, Sea Point contact, Saldania Belt, South Africa

>Magister Scientiae - MSc / The Sea Point contact, Cape Town, South Africa, exposes the contact between the Neoproterozoic Malmesbury Group metasedimentary rocks of the Pan-African Saldania belt and the intrusive S-type Peninsula Granite of the Neoproterozoic-Paleozoic Cape Granite Suite (CGS). The exposure outcrops over an area of approximately 170 m × 60 m with the northern end of the exposure being characterized by the country rock–microgranite intrusive contact. Heading further south, the outcrop transitions to the main contact zone, which is a predominantly gradational zone marked by sheets of compositionally variable granitic injections (collectively referred to as hybrid granite phases) concordant to the country rock structure, before reaching the main pluton area comprising the voluminous coarse-grained porphyritic granite. Using a combined study incorporating field, structural, geochemical, isotopic and U-Pb geochronological data, the intrusive contact is investigated to determine the construction history of the pluton and delineate possible emplacement mechanisms. The granitic phases, which vary from fine-grained leucocratic, medium-grained porphyritic to coarse-grained porphyritic, are peraluminous, magnesian to ferroan, and alkali-calcic. Based on the linear trends between the whole-rock major and trace element content of the granites vs. maficity (molar Fe + Mg), their initial Sr ratios and εNd(t) values, the granites of the study area are consistent with the currently proposed petrogenetic model for the CGS (e.g. Stevens et al., 2007; Villaros et al., 2009a; Harris & Vogeli, 2010); i.e., they are crustally derived and their chemical variability is controlled primarily by peritectic assemblage entrainment. The fractional crystallization of K-feldspar is identified as the primary mechanism for the local geochemical variability of the granites. The fractionation of K-feldspar as a mechanism of variability was evaluated using binary log-log diagrams of Ba, Sr and Eu and is interpreted to have taken place at levels close to the emplacement site after source entrainment processes. Although there is outcrop evidence, particularly in the main contact zone, to suggest that local assimilation and filter pressing took place, this was not reflected by the whole-rock and isotope geochemistry of the granites. This suggests that these processes are very localized and will need further rigorous testing to ascertain the extent to which they caused variability. Outcrop evidence for assimilation includes gradational country rock-granite contacts and the ductile behaviour of the country rock, whereas the occurrence of K-feldspar megacrysts embedded in the country rock at the main contact zone suggests melt accumulation and escape consistent with the filter pressing mechanism. In the case of the latter, the melt fraction of the granite was easily mobilized and driven out compared to the crystal fraction (K-feldspars) during the emplacement of the granites. Field relationships and the structural interpretation of the Malmesbury Group country rocks and the granites reveal that: (1) the various granites are late syn-tectonic and (2) were emplaced as incrementally assembled, repeated pulses of inclined granitic sheets more or less normal (i.e. at high angles) to the regional NE-SW shortening (D1) of the Malmesbury forearc during the Saldanian orogeny. Given the lack of a controlling shear zone in facilitating granite emplacement in the study area, the pre-existing planar anisotropies (bedding planes and foliations) in the country rock provided preferential pathways for magma emplacement and propagation during deformation. This implies that the tensile strength normal and parallel to the bedding and foliation anisotropy of the country rock was larger than the regional differential stress (σ1 – σ3, with σ1 ≥ σ2 ≥ σ3), allowing for magma emplacement relative to shortening. Sheet propagation is interpreted to have occurred through the balance of the following conditions: (1) density contrasts between host rocks and magmas, (2) the pressure differential along the subvertical fractures/sheets, and (3) the melt pressure equalling the lithostatic pressure to keep the magma pathways open and being sufficiently high such that it exceeds the sum of σ1 and the tensile strength of the rock parallel to σ1. The crystallization ages of the dated granite samples are identical within error and vary between 538.7 ± 3.6 Ma and 542.7 ± 2.9 Ma. They, therefore, cannot prove which granite phase intruded first and which one proceeded and so forth. Field relationships, however, suggests that the microgranites were first to intrude given their fine-grained nature and the localized chilled contacts they show with the country rock. The various coarser-grained and porphyritic phases were next to intrude, with their coarse grain-sizes and lack of chilled margins with the country rock suggesting that the time interval between their successive emplacements was not too long; this prevented the country rock from completely cooling down between each magma batch. Magma stoping and the ductile flow of the host material (owing to highly viscous magma flow) to accommodate granite emplacement are interpreted to be secondary emplacement processes.

In diesem Beitrag werden die Tanzsammlungen Terpsichore von Michael Praetorius und Banchetto musicale von Johann Hermann Schein hinsichtlich der Organisation der Mehrstimmigkeit und der Instrumentalbesetzung untersucht. Die Satztechnik weist zum Teil deutliche Bezüge zur usuellen Musikpraxis früherer Zeit auf. Wenngleich die Tänze von Praetorius und Schein nicht improvisiert wurden, so sind doch Formeln improvisatorischer Praxis nachweisbar, einige wenige Tänze in diesen Sammlungen gleichen fast einer notierten Improvisation. Die Tänze sind nicht im engeren Sinne instrumentiert, aber Schein und Praetorius überlieferten Hinweise zur instrumentalen Ausführung. Zur Erhellung der Besetzungsproblematik tragen andere Instrumentalkompositionen Scheins sowie die Organographie aus Praetorius’ Syntagma musicum (1619) ebenso bei wie Überlegungen zu damals gängigen Formationen wie beispielsweise zum Gamben- und Violinconsort oder zum mixed consort nach englischem Vorbild, die auch mitteldeutschen Komponisten vertraut waren. / In this contribution the collections of dance music Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius and Banchetto musicale by Johann Hermann Schein are discussed with respect to multi-voice settings and instrumentation. Although the dances by Praetorius and Schein were not improvised, some typical formulas of improvisational practices are identifiable; indeed, some dances in these collections appear almost identical to transcribed improvisations. These dances are not instrumented or arranged in the modern sense, however Schein and Praetorius provided hints for instrumental realization. To clarify the question of which instruments were used, other instrumental compositions by Schein as well as the organography from Praetorius’s Syntagma musicum (1619) prove helpful. Common ensemble types during this period like viol and violin consorts or English mixed consorts, which were familiar to Mid-German composers, are also taken into account.
