Isolamento, caracterização e quantificação de peptídeos y-glutamil sulfurados no feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) / Isolation, characterization and quantification of -glutamyl sulfide peptides in bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Foi estudada a fração não-protéica de sementes de feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L. ), tendo por objetivo identificar a presença e conhecer o teor de (γ-glutamil peptídeos sulfurados. Estes peptídeos (γ-glutamil-S-metilcisteína e (γ-glutamil metionina) podem interferir com o doseamento da metionina pelo método da clivagem com brometo de cianogênio e análise do metiltiocianato por cromatografia em fase gasosa. O extrato etanólico contém 21 % do nitrogênio total do feijão. A lavagem do extrato com clorofórmio reduziu o teor de nitrogênio para 5,5%, pela remoção de proteínas co-extraídas. O extrato não-proteico assim obtido foi purificado sucessivamente por resinas de troca catiônica e aniônica, ocorrendo a separação dos constituintes pelos seus valores de pK. A purificação foi acompanhada por testes químicos, cromatografia em camada delgada e análise de aminoácidos. Foi identificada com base nas suas características químicas, a presença de S-metilcisteína, principalmente na forma de dipeptídeo com ácido glutâmico. A quantificação do peptídeo após hidrólise ácida (3h / 110° C), resultou num teor de S-metilcisteína total de 0,67g /100g proteína, que corresponde a aproximadamente 50% do teor de metionina no feijão, determinado por cromatografia de troca iônica. Estes resultados podem indicar que o teor de metiltiocianato total, liberado pela metionina e pela S-metilcisteína do feijão (1 ,6%) (determinado em trabalho anterior), descontado do teor de S-metilcisteína (0 ,7%), equivale à metionina quimicamente disponível, correspondendo a aproximadamente 64% da metionina total presente no feijão. No ensaio de germinação das sementes do feijão foi observado um decréscimo da (γ-glutamil-Smetilcisteína, indicando uma mobilização dos aminoácidos constitutintes. / The non-protein fraction of Phaseolus vulgrias L. seeds has been analysed to obtain information on the identity and level of (γ-glutamyl peptides containing a sulfur amino acid. These peptides (γ-glutamyl-S-methylcysteine and (γ-glutamyl methionine) could interfere with the determination of methionine measured by cleavage with cyanogen bromide and subsequent gas-chromatographic identification of methylthiocyanate. The ethanolic extract of (γ-glutamyl peptides contains 21% of the total seed nitrogen, which decrease to 5,5%, by removing the coextracted bean proteins with chloroform. This non-protein extract was then purified by ion-exchange chromatography on basic and acid resins, taking advantage of the different pK values of the amino acids. The isolation procedure was followed up by chemical analysis, thin layer chromatography and amino acid analysis. Based on their chemical properties we were able to identify the presence of S-methylcysteine, mainly in the form of a dipeptide with glutamic acid. Quantitative analysis of the peptide after acid hydrolysis (3h /110° C) showed a level of 0,67g /total S-methylcysteine /100gbean protein. This content accounted for approximately 50% of the bean methionine content, determined by ion-exchange chromatography. These results might indicate that total methylthiocyanate released from both, methionine and S-methylcysteine of beans, (1,6%) (from a previous paper) subtracted from S-methylcysteine (0,7%) could be recognized as chemically available methionine, corresponding to approximately 64% of total methionine. During seed germination the (γ-glutamyl-S-methylcysteine undergo a degradative process resulting in loss of the dipeptide.

Aspectos produtivos e sanitários de sementes de feijoeiro em função do uso de diferentes coberturas de solo no sistema de plantio direto /

Assim, o trabalho teve o objetivo de verificar os efeitos de diferentes plantas de cobertura do solo, utilizando leguminosas e uma gramínea isoladas em consórcio leguminosa/gramínea e uma área de pousio, sobre o desenvolvimento, produção, qualidade fisiológica e sanitária de sementes de feijão do cultivar Pérola. O experimento foi conduzido em duas etapas, sendo a primeira com a implantação das plantas de cobertura que foram: guandu, crotalária, feijão-de-porco, mucuna preta e o milheto isoladas e o consórcio leguminosas/milheto com linhas alternadas e parcelas de 10 linhas/10 metros no verão. Na segunda etapa a área com as plantas de cobertura foi manejada para a semeadura do feijoeiro no outono/inverno e subdivididas em cinco linhas de cinco metros para as épocas de aplicação de nitrogênio em cobertura que aconteceu aos 25, 30 e 35 dias após a semeadura. Foi utilizado o delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. Avaliou-se produção de massa verde e seca, teores de nutrientes para as plantas de cobertura, população final de plantas, componentes produtivos (número de vagens e de sementes por planta, número de sementes por vagem, massa de 100 sementes), produtividade de sementes, qualidade fisiológica e sanitária de sementes. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as plantas de cobertura apresentaram bons teores e bom potencial de retorno de nutrientes, sendo que o consórcio leguminosa/gramínea na maioria dos casos apresentou melhores resultados em relação à planta cultivada em sistema solteiro, com destaque para o consórcio mucuna+milheto. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Covering plants have a great importance to soil conservation and protection, besides to be great mineral nutrients sources. This way, the study was carried out in order to verify the different effects of soil covering plants, applying legumes and a grass, separately or in a consortium legumes/grass, and fallow land area, on the development, production, sanitary and physiological seeds quality of common beans Perola cultivar. The experiments were conducted in two phases on the first one, was implanted the following covering plants: pigeonpea, sunn hemp, jack bean, velvet bean and the millet isolated and the consortium legumes/grass with alternated lines and parcels of 10 lines/10 meters on the summer. On the second stage the area with covering plans was handled to sow the common bean on the autumn/winter period and subdivided in five lines of five meters for the nitrogen application period in covering that occurs for 25, 30 and 35 days after the sow. The experimental design was used in randomized blocks, with four repetitions. The green and dry mass production, as well as the content and nutrient return to the covering plants, final stand, yield components (number of pods and seeds per plant, number of seeds per pod and 100-seed mass), beans productivity, sanitary and physiological seeds quality. The results showed that the covering plants showed good return potential and nutrient content, but the legume/grass consortium showed better results as compared to single one, notability the velvet bean+millet consortium. The different covering plants so as the nitrogen application period in covering didn't affect significantly the productive components neither the Perola cultivar common bean. Conclude that the consortium legumes (pigeonpea, sunn hemp, jack bean, velvet bean)/grass (millet) are a viable way to Perola cultivar common bean with high level of sanitary and physiological seeds quality. / Mestre

Saúde mental e consumo adequado de frutas verduras e legumes em adultos de um município de médio porte do sul do Brasil

Método: Este é um estudo transversal de base populacional com uma amostra representativa de 1100 adultos, com idade igual ou superior a 18 anos, residentes na zona urbana de um município de médio porte do sul do Brasil. O consumo adequado de frutas e legumes foi avaliado através de duas perguntas: uma sobre a quantidade de frutas ou suco natural de frutas consumido ao dia, e outra, a respeito do número de colheres de sopa de verduras/legumes consumidos ao dia. Considerou-se como consumo adequado a ingestão de três ou mais frutas ao dia concomitante com cinco ou mais colheres de sopa de verduras/legumes ao dia. As exposições principais variáveis foram autopercepção de nervosismo/stress e DPM. Para fornecer uma estimativa das razões de prevalências (RP) brutas e ajustadas, utilizou-se a regressão de Poisson. Potenciais fatores de confusão eram variáveis demográficas, socioeconômicas e comportamentais. Resultados: Ao analisar a amostra total, observaram-se associações significativas entre o desfecho com a autopercepção de nervosismo/stress e DPM. Após o controle de fatores de confusão, adultos relatando ausência de nervosismo/stress possuíam uma prevalência de consumo adequado duas vezes maior do que aqueles com resposta positiva (RP=1,99; IC95% 1,17-3,37; p=0,010). Similarmente, participantes com ausência de DPM possuíam uma prevalência de consumo adequado FVL 52% mais elevada quando comparados àqueles que relataram presença de DPM (RP=1,52; IC95% 1,10-2,10; p=0,016). Quando estratificada para o sexo, este efeito se manteve e aumentou nas mulheres, perdendo efeito e significância estatística entre os homens. Conclusão: Os resultados sugerem que a saúde mental pode ter papel importante para o consumo adequado de FVL, especialmente entre as mulheres. / Objective: To assess the association between mental health with adequate fruits and vegetables consumption. Method: This is a population based cross-sectional with a representative sample of 1,100 adult subjects living in the urban area of a medium size city in Souther Brazil. The adequate fruits and vegetables ́ intake was evaluated through two questions: one asking the quantity of fruit or fresh natural juice ingested on a daily basis; the other asking the number of soup spoons of vegetables consumed in a day. It was considered as an adequate intake the ingestion of three or more portions of fruit and of five or more soup spoons of vegetables. The main exposures were self-reported nervousness/stress and minor psychiatric disorders (MPD). In order to provide an estimation of the unadjusted and adjusted prevalence ratios (PR) Poisson regression was used. Potential confounding factors were demographic, socioeconomic and behavioral. Results: When the full sample was analyzed, a significant association between the nervousness/stress self-awareness and minor psychiatric disturbances was found. After controlling for the confounding factors, adults reporting absence were 2 times more likely to have the appropriate daily fruits and vegetables intake than those reporting presence of stressfull/nervous estates (PR=1,99; CI95% 1,17-3,37; p=0,010). In the same way, subjects not reporting mental disorders had a prevalence of adequate intake FVL 52% higher compared to those who had MPD (PR=1,52; CI95% 1,10-2,10; p=0,016). When stratified by gender, this effect was kept and increased in women. However, it lost its effect and statistical significance among men. Conclusion: The results suggests that the mental health may have an important role in the adequate intake of fruits and vegetables, especially among women.

Com o presente estudo visou-se avaliar a influencia do cozimento na composição centesimal, compostos bioativos e capacidade antioxidante de cultivares de feijão-caupi. Foram analisadas oito cultivares: Costela de Vaca, BRS Marataoã, BRS Itaim, BR 17-Gurguéia, BRS Novaera, Paulistinha, Setentão e Patativa. Os grãos de cada cultivar foram submetidos a dois procedimentos diferentes para realização das análises: cru (pó homogêneo) e cozido (com maceração) sob pressão. Analisou- se a composição química das amostras, que incluiu a composição centesimal, com determinação da umidade, cinzas, lipídios, proteínas, carboidratos e valor energético, os parâmetros físico-químicos como pH, acidez, e açúcares, além das análises dos compostos bioativos, como os compostos fenólicos, ácido ascórbico, flavonoides, antocianinas e a capacidade antioxidante. Todas as análises foram realizadas em quadruplicata nas cultivares cruas, cozidas e do caldo de cocção, sendo os resultados expressos como média ± desvio-padrão. Realizou-se a análise de variância e as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Tukey (p<0,05). Em relação a composição centesimal, o conteúdo de umidade ficou na faixa de 7-11% nas cultivares cruas e aumentou nas cozidas (60-70%). O conteúdo de proteínas diminuiu de forma significativa (p<0,05) para todas as cultivares cozidas, assim como também o teor de cinzas, carboidratos e valor energético nas oito cultivares avaliadas. Para o conteúdo de açúcares totais e redutores, as cultivares cruas apresentaram teores de 11-13 mg /100 g e de 2-3 mg/100 g respectivamente, após o cozimento, foi observado uma redução destes teores.Para os compostos bioativos, a cultivar BRS Marataoã apresentou os maiores conteúdos de compostos fenólicos totais antes do cozimento (112,15 mg/100 g), após o cozimento houve uma redução destes compostos em todas as cultivares, com teores de 12-15 mg/100g, e o caldo apresentou maiores conteúdos, variando de 11-52 mg/100 g. Foram constatadas pequenas concentrações de antocianinas nas cultivares cruas, cozidas e no caldo de cocção, com destaque para a cultivar BRS Novaera (1,24 mg/100g-1) em sua forma cozida. Para a capacidade antioxidante, observaram-se comportamentos diferenciados para cada cultivar no método avaliado. Antes do cozimento, a cultivar BRS Marataoã apresentou maior capacidade antioxidante (57,69 g feijão. g DPPH-1). Após ocozimento, o caldo de cocção apresentou melhores resultados em relação aos grãos cozidos para seis das oito cultivares avaliadas, com destaque para a cultivar Costela de Vaca. Foi constatada forte correlação entre a capacidade antioxidante e o teor de fenólicos, flavonoides totais e ácido ascórbico. Concluiu-se que após o processamento, as cultivares mantiveram características nutritivas e funcionais relevantes, recomendando-se o consumo do feijão-caupi com o caldo de cocção para retenção de compostos com propriedades antioxidantes. / The beans is a legume that is widely consumed in the world, being it associated different nutritional properties. With the present study aimed to evaluate the influence of cooking on the chemical composition, bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity of cowpea cultivars. Eight cultivars were analyzed: Costa de Vaca, Marataoã BRS, BRS Itaim, BR-17 Gurguéia, BRS Novaera, Paulistinha, Setentão and Patativa. The grain of each cultivar were submitted to two different procedures for carrying out the analyzes: raw (homogeneous powder) and cooked (maceration) under pressure. Was analyzed the chemical composition of samples that included the chemical composition, with determination of moisture, ash, lipids, proteins, carbohydrates and energy, the physical and chemical parameters such as pH, acidity and sugar, in addition to analyzes of bioactive compounds such as phenolic compounds, ascorbic acid, flavonoids, anthocyanins and antioxidant capacity. All analyzes were carried out in quadruplicate in raw varieties, cooked and cooking broth and the results expressed as mean ± standard deviation. We conducted the analysis of variance and the means were compared by Tukey test (p <0.05). With respect to chemical composition, moisture content was in the 7-11% range in the raw samples and increased the cooked (60-70%). The protein content significantly decreased (p <0.05) for all baked varieties, as well as ash, carbohydrates and energy value in the eight cultivars. For the content of total and reducing sugars, the raw samples showed levels of 11-13 mg / 100 g and 2-3 mg / 100 g respectively, after cooking, it was observed a reduction in these levels. For bioactive compounds, BRS Marataoã had the highest total phenolic content before cooking (112.15 mg / 100 g), after cooking there was a reduction of these compounds in all cultivars with levels of 12-15 mg / 100g, and the broth showed higher contents ranging from 11-52 mg / 100 g. small concentrations of anthocyanins were found in raw varieties, cooked in broth and cooking, especially BRS Novaera (1.24 mg / 100g-1) in its cooked form. For the antioxidant capacity, there were different behaviors for each cultivar in the assessed method. Before cooking, BRS Marataoã showed higher antioxidant capacity (57.69 g beans. DPPH-1g). After cooking, the cooking broth showed better results compared to baked beans for six of the eight cultivars, especially to cultivate Costa cow. strong correlation between antioxidant capacity and phenolic content, total flavonoids and ascorbic acid was found. It was concluded that after processing, cultivars maintained relevant nutritional and functional characteristics, it is recommended to cowpea consumption with broth cooking for retaining compounds with antioxidant properties.

Análise da associação do consumo de frutas, legumes e verduras e de micronutrientes com marcadores de estado oxidativo, inflamatório e de resistência à insulina em indivíduos de risco cardiometabólico / Analysis of the association of fruits and vegetables and micronutrients intakes with markers of oxidative and inflammatory status and insulin resistance in individuals at cardiometabolic risk

Introdução: O atual estilo de vida traz consequências negativas no que se refere aos padrões dietéticos, nível de atividade física (AF), uso de tabaco e estresse psicossocial, os quais predispõem ao aumento de doenças crônicas não-transmissíveis. Dieta rica em frutas, legumes e verduras (FLV) pode atenuar os efeitos sobre o risco cardiometabólico, havendo evidências consistentes de benefícios na prevenção da obesidade, dislipidemia e diabetes tipo 2. O consumo de FLV, fontes de vitaminas e minerais essenciais para a homeostase corporal está aquém do desejado. Estes alimentos contribuem para um perfil cardiometabólico favorável, atenuando o estresse oxidativo, inflamação e resistência à insulina. Objetivo: Este estudo analisou a associação entre o consumo FLV e de certos micronutrientes com marcadores do estado oxidativo, inflamatório e de resistência à insulina em indivíduos de risco cardiometabólico. Métodos:Nesta análise transversal foram incluídos 205 participantes (65 por cento mulheres; média de idade de 54,1 anos) do Estudo de Prevenção de Diabetes do CS-Escola da FSP-USP, com pré-diabetes ou de síndrome metabólica sem diabetes. Foram submetidos a questionários e coletas de sangue. Entre as dosagens, a superóxido dismutase (SOD) e a LDL oxidada (LDLox) serviram para indicar o estado anti/pró-oxidativo. O nível de AF foi medido pela versão longa do IPAQ. Três recordatórios alimentares de 24h foram empregados para cálculo da ingestão de micronutrientes e de FLV. Três categorias de consumo de FLV consumidas foram criadas considerando-se a recomendação internacional e a ingestão de micronutrientes estratificada segundo tercis de consumo, analisados por ANOVA. Coeficiente de Pearson e regressão linear múltipla foram também empregados. Resultados: Os participantes consumiram uma média de 1800 kcal/dia e 3,7 porções/1000 kcal de FLV. Ao longo das categorias de ingestão de FLV, os valores médios de circunferência da cintura (p=0,06) e pressão arterial diastólica (p=0,05) tenderam a diminuir e adiponectina (p=0,05) a aumentar. Indivíduos no tercil mais alto de ingestão de zinco apresentaram valores mais baixos de massa gorda e HOMA-IR, enquanto as concentrações de PCR foram marginalmente significantes (p=0,06). O HOMA-IR associou-se inversamente com ingestão de zinco e magnésio em todos os modelos. Associações diretas foram encontradas entre as concentrações de SOD com ingestão de FLV, bem como de magnésio em modelos ajustados. A concentração de LDLox se associou inversamente a ingestões de magnésio, vitaminas C e E em modelos ajustados. Resultados similares foram encontrados entre a concentração de LDLox e FLV, mas perdeu a significância após ajustes. Associação direta entre LDLox e ingestão de selênio manteve-se nos modelos ajustados. Conclusão: Nosso estudo sugere que a análise do consumo de FLV e/ou de certas vitaminas e minerais, ainda que estejam abaixo dos níveis recomendados, pode ser útil para identificar estresse oxidativo e resistência à insulina. / Introduction: Current lifestyle has deleterious consequences in dietary habits, physical activity, smoking and psychosocial stress, which have predisposed to non-communicable chronic diseases. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables can attenuate the effects on cardiometabolic risk, and there is consistent evidence of its benefit on the prevention of obesity, dyslipidemia and type 2 diabetes. Worldwide the consumption of fruits and vegetables, sources of vitamins and minerals, which are essential for body homeostasis, is low. These foods contribute to a favorable cardiometabolic profile, attenuating oxidative stress, inflammation and insulin resistance. Objective: Associations between the consumption of certain micronutrients and fruits and vegetables with markers of oxidative status, inflammation and insulin resistance were examined in individuals at cardiometabolic risk. Methods: This cross-sectional analysis included 205 participants (65 per cent women, mean age 54.1 years) with pre-diabetes or with metabolic syndrome without diabetes of the Diabetes Prevention Study of the FSP-USP Health Care Unit. They were submitted to questionaires blood collection. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and oxidized LDL (oxLDL) were used to indicate the oxidative status. The physical activity level was measured by the long version of IPAQ. Three 24-hour dietary recalls were used to calculate intake of micronutrients and of fruits and vegetables. Three categories of fruits and vegetables consumption were created taking into consideration international recommendations, and micronutrient intake were grouped according tertiles of consumption, these categories analyzed by ANOVA. Pearsons correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression were used. Results: Participants consumed a mean of 1,800 kcal per day and 3.7/1000 kcal servings of fruit and vegetables. Mean values of waist circumference (p=0.06) and diastolic blood pressure (p=0.05) tended to decrease, and adiponectin (p=0.05) to increase across the categories of fruits and vegetables intake. Individuals in the highest tertile of zinc intake showed lower values of fat mass and HOMA-IR, while CRP concentrations were marginally significant (p=0.06). HOMA-IR was inversely associated with zinc and magnesium intakes in all the models. Direct associations were found between SOD concentrations and fruits and vegetables as well as magnesium intakes in adjusted models, while oxLDL concentration was inversely associated with magnesium, vitamin C and E intakes. Similar results were found between oxLDL concentration and fruits and vegetables intake but significance disappeared after adjustments. A direct association between oxLDL and selenium intake was detected after multiple adjustments. Conclusion: Our study suggest that fruits and vegetables and/or selected vitamins and minerals intakes albeit below recommended levels may be useful to identifying oxidative stress and insulin resistance.

Leguminous shrubby species Tephrosia vogelii, Tephrosia sinapou and Crotalaria grahamiana are little known at Brazil, and as well as Cajanus cajan (pigeon pea), show potential for green manuring. Two experiments were conducted at Field conditions: the first one aimed to evaluate the growth of Tephrosia vogelii during 360 days, measuring its phenological characteristics and its agronomic performance as green manure. The second one aimed to evaluate the agronomic performance of Tephrosia vogelii, Tephrosia sinapou, Crotalaria grahamiana and Cajanus cajan. The first experiment was conducted in 2010, at Agroecological Farm, and the second one was conducted between October of 2012 and May of 2013, at Experimental Field of Embrapa Agrobiology, both placed at Serop?dica, Fluminense Lowland. At the first one, the experimental design was of randomized blocks, with four replications. The treatments consisted of 12 mensal samplings, with the evaluations of: plants height, stalk diameter, leaf area, amount of fresh and dry matter in different plant parts, nitrogen content and total amount in the shoot. At the second experiment, it was adopted the experimental design of randomized blocks, with four replications, to evaluate the agronomic performance of the four leguminous species, in relation to plants growth. The evaluated plant parameters were: plants height, stalk diameter, amount of fresh and dry matter, nutrient contents and amounts of macronutrients in the shoot, amount of litter deposited by the evaluated species, and weeds control. In the first experiment, 12 months after sowing Tephrosia vogelii, its plants presented 200 cm of height, 11.2 Mg ha-1 of shoot dry matter, with a ratio stalk/leaf 4, besides a total amount of 192 kg ha-1 of N, in the shoot. In the second experiment, at 210 days after sowing, the evaluated species presented mean values of 180 cm of height, 9.7 Mg ha-1 of shoot dry matter and e 151 kg ha-1 of N. Cajanus cajan deposited around 4.8 Mg ha-1 of dry matter of litter, and Tephrosia vogelii promoted lower suppression of weeds. Both evaluated species of Tephrosia and Crotalaria grahamiana presented desirable characteristics for green manuring, similarly to Cajanus cajan, at conditions of climate and soil of Fluminense Lowland. / A aduba??o verde com esp?cies leguminosas ? uma t?cnica que possibilita melhorias nas caracter?sticas do solo, conservando-o e reduzindo a necessidade de ingresso de nitrog?nio sint?tico industrial ?s unidades de produ??o. Foram conduzidos dois trabalhos experimentais sob condi??es de campo: o primeiro trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o crescimento de Tephrosia vogelii ao longo de 360 dias, para aferir suas caracter?sticas fenol?gicas e o seu potencial agron?mico como adubo verde. J? o segundo experimento objetivou avaliar o desempenho agron?mico desta esp?cie e de Tephrosia sinapou, Crotalaria grahamiana e Cajanus cajan. O primeiro experimento foi conduzido no ano de 2010 na Fazendinha Agroecol?gica do Km 47 e o segundo foi conduzido entre outubro de 2012 e maio de 2013, no Campo Experimental da Embrapa Agrobiologia, ambos localizados em Serop?dica, Baixada Fluminense. No primeiro, o delineamento experimental adotado foi de blocos casualisados, com quatro repeti??es. Os tratamentos foram formados de 12 coletas mensais, em que se avaliou: a altura das plantas, o di?metro do caule, ?rea foliar, quantidade de mat?ria fresca e seca em diferentes partes das plantas, teor e quantidade de nitrog?nio (N) na parte a?rea das plantas. No segundo experimento foi adotado um delineamento experimental de blocos casualisados com quatro repeti??es, avaliando-se o desempenho das quatro esp?cies quanto ao crescimento das plantas, tendo como par?metros a altura e o di?metro do caule, a quantidade acumulada de mat?ria seca a?rea, os teores e acumula??o de macronutrientes na parte a?rea, a quantidade de serrapilheira depositada pelas esp?cies e a capacidade de supress?o de esp?cies de ocorr?ncia espont?nea. No primeiro experimento, ao final de 12 meses ap?s a semeadura as plantas de Tephrosia vogelii apresentaram 200 cm de altura, 11,2 Mg ha-1 de mat?ria seca a?rea com uma rela??o caule/folha 4, al?m de uma acumula??o total de N na parte a?rea de 192 kg ha-1. No segundo experimento, aos 210 dias ap?s a semeadura, as esp?cies apresentaram, em valores m?dios, 180 cm de altura, 9,7 Mg ha-1 de mat?ria seca a?rea e 151 kg ha-1 de N. Destaca-se que Cajanus cajan depositou cerca de 4,8 Mg ha-1 de mat?ria seca de serrapilheira, e sob a copa de Tephrosia vogelii observou-se menor controle da ocorr?ncia de esp?cies da vegeta??o espont?nea. Conclui-se que as duas esp?cies do g?nero Tephrosia e Crotalaria grahamiana estudadas apresentaram caracter?sticas desej?veis para inclus?o como adubos verdes, compar?veis a Cajanus cajan, quando avaliadas nas condi??es edafoclim?ticas da Baixada Fluminense.

Trace elements in soils and vegetables in a periurban market garden in Yunnan Province (P.R. China): evaluation and experimentation / Eléments en trace dans les sols et les légumes dune zone maraîchère périurbaine de la Province du Yunnan (RP de Chine) : évaluation et expérimentation

This research was conducted in order to evaluate natural trace element (TE) contents and anthropogenic contamination in soils and vegetables in Chenggong County (Yunnan Province, China). In this way, trace element contents in soils have been analysed to assess TE contamination in soils and vegetables, and transfer of TE from soil to vegetables. Agricultural practises have been proposed to amend the quality of vegetables. We identified three geomorphopedological units: lacustrine unit, transition unit and mountain unit.  In the mountain unit, soil texture is clay more often from the weathering of limestone and marlstone. Soil colour is red or reddish brown with acid reaction.  In the transition unit, soil texture is loamy clay. Soil colour is red-brown with acid reaction.  In the lacustrine unit, soil texture mainly is sandy developed from lacustrine-alluvial deposits. Soil colour is brown and is slightly acid. Total TE contents in the topsoil are higher than usual and even Kunming Prefecture soil. TE contents indicate a high contaminated level when considered globally. Pb, Cd and Zn present however individually low contaminated levels, and Cu presents a medium contaminated level. TE contents decrease from northeast to southwest, which is consistent with the elevation gradient. Significant differences of TE contents are observed according to distance from Chenggong town in the lacustrine unit and with distance from the mountain in the transition unit. TE accumulation is usually observed along roads. TE contents in subsoil are related to soil colour, texture, parent materials and mottles. Accumulation of Pb and Zn in topsoil and of Cu and Cd in subsoil are observed. The highest contents are observed for Pb in cauliflower, Cd in lettuce and Chinese cabbage, and Cu and Zn in pea. The order of TE accumulation in plants varies according to the plant species and organ. According to relations between TE contents in Chinese cabbage and extraction sequential fractions of TE in soils, different soil fractions are suggested as soil assessment indicators. Lime and pig manure have been applied to modify the soil pH and to decrease the mobility of TE in situ. With increasing in lime rate and pH, contents of acetic-acid extractable TE fractions in soil decrease. Enrichment coefficients related to TE availability (AEC) of Pb and Cu are stable and are not changed by lime or pig manure. AEC of Cd and Zn which are high in low pH, decrease with increased pH and application rates of lime and pig manure. When application rates of lime and pig manure increase, TE contents in Chinese cabbage decrease and biomass of Chinese cabbage increases. Application rates of lime and pig manure are recommended, but their quality should also be taken into account. / Cette recherche a pour objet l'étude de la teneur naturelle en éléments traces métalliques (ET) et de la contamination anthropique des sols et des productions légumières dans le Comté de Chenggong (Province du Yunnan, RP de Chine). Pour cela, la variabilité des teneurs en fonction des conditions géomorphopédologiques a été analysée, ainsi que les transferts des ET du sol vers les végétaux. Cette approche a permis ensuite d'aborder l'évaluation de la qualité des sols et des légumes, puis de proposer des pratiques agricoles alternatives dans le but d'améliorer la qualité des légumes produits. La zone d'étude a été divisée en 3 unités géomorphopédologiques: unité de montagne où les sols brun rouge à rouge résultent notamment de l'altération de calcaires et de marnes. Une texture argileuse et une réaction acide dominent. unité de piedmont (dite de transition) où les sols de couleur jaune clair à jaune rougeâtre résultent principalement de l'altération de grès et de shales. Une texture limono-argileuse en surface et argileuse en profondeur, ainsi quune réaction acide dominent. unité lacustre, à proximité du Dianchi Lake, dont les sols de couleur brun foncé sont essentiellement développés à partir de sédiments lacustres. Une texture sableuse domine en surface, ainsi qu'une réaction faiblement acide à neutre. Les teneurs en ET rencontrées en surface des sols de la zone d'étude sont plus élevées que les teneurs moyennes observées dans les sols du monde ou même de la préfecture de Kunming. Evaluées séparément pour chaque ET, les teneurs rencontrées correspondent à des niveaux de contamination jugés faibles pour Pb, Cd et Zn, moyen pour Cu. Considérées simultanément, ces teneurs permettent de déterminer un indice de contamination global correspondant à un niveau de contamination élevé. Les teneurs en ET décroissent globalement du nord-est vers le sud-ouest, suivant le gradient d'altitude. Ces teneurs varient également de façon significative en fonction de l'éloignement de la montagne dans l'unité de transition et de l'éloignement de l'agglomération de Chenggong dans l'unité lacustre . Une accumulation en ET est souvent observée le long des routes. Dans le sous-sol, les teneurs en ET sont liées à la couleur, à la texture, au matériau parental, et aux marques d'altération. Les teneurs sont plus élevées en surface pour Pb et Zn, et en profondeur pour Cu et Cd. Les teneurs les plus élevées pour Pb sont observées dans le chou-fleur, pour Cd dans la laitue et le chou chinois, pour Cu et Zn dans le pois.L'ordre d'accumulation des ET dans la plante dépend de l'espèce et de l'organe considérés. En fonction des corrélations observées entre les teneurs du chou chinois et les résultats obtenus avec différentes modalités d'extraction des ET du sol, des indicateurs d'évaluation de la qualité du sol ont été proposés. Un amendement carbonaté et du fumier de porc ont été épandus afin de réduire in situ la mobilité des ET. L'augmentation de l'apport d'amendement carbonaté permet d'augmenter le pH du sol et de diminuer la fraction extraite avec l'acide acétique dilué (AA) pour chaque élément. Les AEC, rapports teneur dans la plante : teneur dans le sol extractible à lAA, sont stables pour Pb et Cu et ne sont modifiés par aucun des 2 apports. Cependant, les AEC de Zn et de Cu, élevés quand le pH du sol est acide, diminuent si le pH devient plus alcalin, ainsi qu'avec les apports d'amendement carbonaté et de fumier de porc. Quand les apports d'amendement carbonaté et de fumier de porc augmentent, les teneurs en ET du chou chinois diminuent et sa biomasse augmente. Un épandage d'amendement carbonaté est donc recommandé. Cependant la plus grande attention doit être portée à la qualité des fumiers de porcs dont les teneurs en Zn et Cu ne sont pas négligeables.

The goal of this study was to further understanding of the ecology and propagation of an important wild food resource (Vatovaea pseudolablab (Harms.) Gillett of the community of Loodokilani, Kajiado District Kenya and by extension, contribute to its sustainable use. / Vatovaea pseudolablab is found in occasional, yet distinct patches in Lookidalani and these patches may be associated with a particular soil-water regime. The associated soils are moderately developed, dark brown (7.5YR 3/2, Munsell) clayloams, with small (5.61 mm), angular blocky aggregates. The patches were moderately covered (30%) with medium-sized stones (9.5 cm). / Woody and leafy cuttings from wild stock were collected and rooted easily using a minimum of technological inputs. Roofing percentages were better under the hotter and drier conditions in Kilinito. / In conclusion, the data gathered for this study were analyzed within the framework developed by Amold et al. (1985) for evaluating sustainable use strategies for indigenous plants. The low densities of V. pseudolablab found within the patches coupled with the high grazing pressure make it unlikely that wild resources could sustain higher usage. / This study highlights some of the greatest methodological problems facing ethnobotanical, and related, research in pastoral communities. More attention should be directed towards developing research methodologies to further our understanding of wild food plants in pastoral communities.
