A voz, o lugar e o olhar: culturas e periferias em Subúrbio de Chico Buarque / The voice, the place and the look: cultures and peripheries in Subúrbio by Chico Buarque

Rodrigues, Sandra Salavandro 26 July 2013 (has links)
The current dissertation aims to verify the approach of the outlying areas through the analysis of the poetic song Subúrbio, by Chico Buarque (Carioca, 2006), in order to analyze the poetic subjects enunciative place. Our hypothesis is that in the song there is an enunciator whose look distances itself from the themed matters and this approach is an aspect that prevails in almost of the reffered poet`s songbook

The Journey of look in the sphere of fear, prejudice and violence

Silva, Andréa Antonieta Cotrim 05 October 2010 (has links)
The so-urged American identity has changed since September 11, 2001 in the United States. Constructions of identity emphasize the virtues and the nationalism of the American people, as opposed to an Other imagined as dangerous and disloyal. The profusion of news of terrorist attacks in the media everywhere makes that violence acquire a ubiquitous aura, especially in the horizon of big cities. These narratives also produce prejudice and fear represented in films like Crash. Different aesthetic joints function as strategies in building a film that translates an upset country and that needs to (re)build and (re)affirm itself, and then (de)construct and (re)constitute their narratives and identities. In this sense, this work aims to sow new perspectives on the narratives that are enunciated by the Americans after September 11th, instead of stating truths or realities tacitly. After all, concepts such as identity are tied to its production environment. The picture changes according to the contingencies that the subject, belonging to several communities simultaneously, experiences throughout his history. Whether it is an allegorical or a documentary representation, since the director has also based the story on real facts of his everyday life to embark on fiction, the project is justified by the attempt to establish a sense of belonging, taking into account the interlocutors´ loci of enunciation. Thus, we tried to print a translation of Crash as a representation of this web of meaning, in which it is possible to establish the interconnection between identity, fear, prejudice, violence and critical reflection.

A percepção do lugar / The perception of place

Nhamona, Elídio Miguel Fernando 14 December 2009 (has links)
This dissertation aims at showing how the perception of place manifests itself in Trajectórias e Clima, as well as in the poems O Diabo, Seara Nova and Mundo literário. If networks are established in the poetic enunciation, we are therefore in the presence of a poetics of relation. Through the themes, we compare and contrast Mendes poetry with O amanuense Belmiro - Cyro dos Anjos; Mensagem - Fernando Pessoa and Sangue Negro - Noémia de Sousa.

Achille Mbembe : subject, subjection, and subjectivity

Sithole, Tendayi 09 1900 (has links)
This thesis examines the political thought of Achille Mbembe. It deploys decolonial critical analysis to unmask traces of coloniality with regard to the African existential conditions foregrounded in the conception of the African subject, its subjection, and subjectivity. The theoretical foundation of this thesis is decolonial epistemic perspective—the epistemic intervention that serves as a lens to understand Mbembe’s work and—that is the theoretical foundation outside the Euro-North American “mainstream” canon foregrounded in coloniality. Decolonial epistemic perspective in this thesis is deployed to expose three kinds of coloniality in Mbembe’s work, namely: coloniality of power, coloniality of knowledge and coloniality of being. The thrust of this thesis is that Mbembe’s political thought is inadequate for the understanding of the African existential condition in that it does not fully take coloniality into account. In order to acknowledge the existence of coloniality through decolonial critical analysis, the political thought of Mbembe is examined in relation to modes of self-writing, power in the postcolony, the politics of violence in Africa, Frantz Fanon’s political thought, and the idea of South Africa as major themes undertaken in this thesis. Decolonial critical analysis deals with foundational questions that have relevance to the existential condition of the African subject and the manner in which such an existential crisis can be brought to an end. These foundational questions confront issues like—who is speaking or writing, from where, for whom and why? This thesis reveals that Mbembe is writing and thinking Africa from outside the problematic ontology of the African subject and, as such, Mbembe precludes any form of African subjectivity that challenges the Euro-North American canon. This then reveals that Mbembe is not critical of coloniality and this has the implications in that subjection is left on the wayside and not accounted for. Having explored the genealogy, trajectory and horisons of decolonial critical analysis to understand the political thought of Mbembe, this thesis highlights that it is essential to take a detour through the shifting of the geography of reason. Herein lies the originality of this thesis, and it is here that Africa is thought from within a standpoint of decolonial critical analysis and not Africa that is thought from the Euro-North American canon. Therefore, the shifting of the geography of reason is necessary for the authorisation of the subjectivity of the African subject in order to combat subjection. / Political Sciences / D.
