Ledningsgruppens effektivitet - med fokus på tillit / Efficiency in management teams – with a focus on trustSundholm, Krister January 2021 (has links)
A well-functioning and efficient management team is a success factor in both the private and public sectors. The special nature of the management team means that other than classic group development models can be more useful. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the factors trust, conflict, commitment, responsibility and results in Lencioni's (2002) model are relevant starting points in work with the management teams' effectiveness, with a focus on trust. Based on a self-constructed survey with self-assessment from 74 leaders' assessments, descriptive analyzes have been performed. Furthermore, t-tests, regression analysis and principal component analyzes were performed to answer the study's questions. Based on the results of this study, only moderate support is given for the five factors to explain the management group participants' views on the management group's effectiveness, even if they are individually assessed as relevant. There are indications that with additional questions, the reliability would increase and thus provide clearer support to the five factors. Further studies are needed to clarify this. However, the study provides support for the importance of trust and its independence from demographic variables such as gender, age, sectors or management team experience. Furthermore, the study shows that the management group's efficiency can be described in two components with several parts where the components are about internal and external efficiency, which is also in line with Granberg and Wallenholm (2017). All in all, it gives an idea that alternative models like Lencioni (2002) can be relevant to use and that the five factors trust, conflict, commitment, responsibility and results can still be a relevant starting point in the work with the management group's efficiency, with a focus on trust.

Culture of empowerment in a restructured schoolBlackwood, Jo Lambert 24 October 2005 (has links)
“Culture of Empowerment in a Restructured School” is a qualitative study that explores how three teams of humanities teachers in a restructured high school try to create and sustain an environment in which they can make decisions over curriculum, pedagogy, and school self-governance. The study examines what “empowerment” means to the teachers in such a setting.
Various qualitative methods are used: participant observation, interviews, document analysis, and personal narrative. Teams of teachers who participated in this study teach at Capital High School, Charleston, WV, which opened in 1989 as a restructured school. It was named as a 1993 National Exemplary School by the United States Department of Education and a 1993 West Virginia Department of Education Blue Ribbon School.
In this study “empowerment” is considered as the democratic involvement of teachers as they have input into decisions which affect them and their students. A longitudinal survey of the historical background of the school precedes chapters describing spatial influences on the curriculum and instruction, altered governance structures, the effects of teaming organization, and the use of three specific teaching strategies: Writing To Learn, cooperative learning and computer technology. The final chapter gives an account of the current (1993) school conditions that deal with teacher empowerment and offers some “lessons learned” from a participant’s viewpoint. / Ed. D.

Beyond the Beauty of the Game : Investigating Corporate Governance Diversity, with Media Influence, on Sports Club SuccessAmmunet, Gustav, Malm, Markus January 2024 (has links)
Background: Prior literature on diversity within BODs and TMTs is predominantly situated within thecontext of conventional organizations. However, sports clubs differ somewhat fromconventional organizations due to the inclusion of an additional performance metric toconsider, sports performance, which stands as their foremost priority. As sports clubsoperate under a heightened-paced landscape with far more external pressure, the necessityto extend governance research into this rather new area of investigation is of interest. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the impact of BOD and TMT diversity on sportsclubs’ sports and financial performance and how media influence this relationship. Method: This thesis employs a deductive approach, utilizing a quantitative method, to investigatethe research objectives. The analysis is based on 144 observations from 24 distinct Swedishsports clubs. Depending on the performance metrics being measured, the data is examinedusing either multiple linear regression or ordinal regression. Conclusion: The study supports three of its eight hypotheses, namely that BOD diversity has a positiverelationship with sports performance and that media moderate the relationship betweenTMT diversity, partially BOD diversity and financial performance.

Diversity and Environmental CSR Reporting in Listed SMEs : The Moderating Effect of Family FirmsJalvér, Lina, Zetterlund, Sanna January 2024 (has links)
Background: It has become increasingly important for all corporations to make environmentally friendly decisions and consider environmental CSR. Previous studies have shown that effective corporate governance and diversity of BoDs and TMTs can affect sustainability reporting positively. However, prior literature has been underrepresented regarding SMEs. It is currently voluntary for these types of firms to report on sustainability, but new requirements are underway. Additionally, family-owned firms differ in the context of environmental CSR reporting due to the interests of the family, and that these types of firms tend to not consider the diversity as much as non-family-owned firms. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how the diversity of BoDs and TMTs in Swedish stock-listed SMEs impacts environmental CSR reporting. Additionally, how family firms moderate this relationship. Methodology: This study adopts a positivistic view, follows the deductive approach, and uses a quantitative methodology. The collected data was gathered through databases, annual reports, and other sources to get information about the diversity aspects and sustainability reporting. This was analyzed by using the Spearman correlation matrix and multiple linear regressions. Findings: The findings of this study only partially support the relationship between the diversity of BoDs and environmental CSR reporting. There was no support regarding the relationship between the diversity of TMTs and environmental CSR reporting. Family firms as a moderating factor to this, could also not be supported.

Experience of secondary schools management teams on teamwork in Tshwane North District schoolsPhalane, Margareth Mokgohlwe 11 1900 (has links)
Democracy in South Africa, among others, has brought a significant number of changes in the education system, including the concept of school management team in schools (SMT). In line with this, the objective of this study was to find out how SMTs experience teamwork in schools; and was conducted in the purposefully sampled six secondary schools in the Tshwane North District.
This study was framed within the interpretive approach, and sought to unpack the experience of SMT members with regard to teamwork. An interpretive paradigm made it possible for me to gain an in-depth understanding of SMT member‟s experience of teamwork within their school contexts. I used interviews and questionnaires as research tools to gather data. This study has found that, although the concept of teamwork is well-received, there are significant obstacles to the implementation of teamwork as an alternative form of management. / Educational Studies / M. Managing teenage pregnancies at secondary schools in the Vhembe district, Limpopo provinceRamulumo, Richard Mashudu 12 1900 (has links)
Teenage pregnancy in South African schools poses a serious management and leadership
challenge. Statistics from Statistics South Africa (2008) reflect the seriousness of this problem in all provinces wherein Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, Limpopo (where this study is situated) and Eastern Cape report high levels of early pregnancy. The main objective of this study was, therefore, to explore the challenges faced by the SMTs regarding teenage pregnancies at secondary schools in the Vhembe District in Limpopo province.
A mixed methods approach was used to collect data from SMTs in schools that are located in Vhembe district. Questionnaires were distributed to the school management teams (SMTs) of different schools. In addition, qualitative data were collected through interviewing the SMTs. The study findings reflected that management of teenage pregnancy is still a problem at Vhembe District of Education despite the laws and policies that are in place. SMTs also felt that the issue of pregnant learners at schools should be left for medical experts to deal with them. The study recommends that there ought to be intervention programs including training of SMTs, SGBs and Educators regarding management of teenage pregnancy. / Educational Management and Leadership / M.
