Fernández, Mariá Ángeles, 1978- 29 August 2008 (has links)
This dissertation makes a case for the importance played by four short stories, Lope de Vega's Novelas a Marcia Leonarda, in the development of the modern novel, and will contribute an exhaustive analysis of Lope's narrative strategy and the way he confronts and solves the various problems between theory and narrative practice, reconsidering the boundaries of fiction and revealing the permeability and porosity of the new genre The Novelas a Marcia Leonarda have received scarce attention by critics and only a handful of generic works and articles have been published on the subject. Critics have perceived "inconsistencies" to Aristotle's theory in the text, such as the numerous digressions or the implausability of certain episodes and characters. My dissertation claims just the opposite: these alleged inconsistencies are legitimate under the light of a different approach, as they are intended as devices to enhance the narrative. I consider the love-offering that frames the Novelas a Marcia Leonarda to be the key to interpretation of the real driving force that underlies all four stories; as love offerings, the four novelas are written exclusively to gratify a very particular reader. From this perspective, the literary creative process itself is depicted as a dialogue between two lovers, whose mutual interaction brings the story to life. The complicity between them makes the articulation of the story a game of two, where it is "allowed" to simultaneously praise the virtues and parody the weaknesses of the existing narrative forms. Considering the dialogue with Marcia as the key point of departure, my dissertation examines all the components that take part in the process of the gestation of the four stories: elements that belong to oral communication (such as the overall empathetic tone and the inclusion of spontaneous digressions), conventions and techniques from the most influential novelistic genres at the time (such as the Chivalric novel, the Pastoral novel, the Moorish novel and the Byzantine novel), the intertextual dialogue with Cervantes and some references to Lope's own biographical anecdotes and intimate facts about his relationship with Marta de Nevares, his last love and the alter ego of the reader Marcia. / text

Representation of Adolescent Identity Status through Facebook Use: A Qualitative Multicase Study of Adolescent Digital Behaviors

Valdez, David 05 July 2016 (has links)
The expanding landscape of social media offers users several platforms to introduce into their lifestyle choices. Facebook continues to be one of the most ubiquitous social media platforms in the United States (Pew Research Center, 2015), and its use in educational contexts has become an area of inquiry. This study examines how a sample of high school seniors in an IB psychology class use social media, specifically, Facebook by inquiring into the interrelationship between social media use, identity formation, and personal teacher pedagogy as part of instruction. The research questions for this study were: Question 1- How are students using social media platforms during their senior-year of high school? Question 2- In what ways does Marcia’s model of adolescence identity type help to explain potential differences in Facebook use among adolescents? Question 3- In what ways are students’ Facebook practices and teaching practices that relies on social media responsive to one another? Following ethical guidelines as prescribed by IRB procedures, participants were surveyed and categorized by their respective identity type using Marcia’s (1967) model of adolescence identity type. Utilizing a socioconstructionist theoretical framework and Marcia’s model, journal entries, interview data, and Facebook observations from four students were analyzed over a four-week period. Findings revealed that identity achievement students regarded their social media use as active and were more likely to use Facebook to research future goals. These students felt Facebook deepened interests in aspects of their identity and often used Facebook to follow-up with classwork/homework. Moratorium students regarded their Facebook use as passive and did not feel their online use deepened their identity development. All students agreed that their current Facebook profiles no longer represent their identities accurately. Gender differences, recommendations for classroom inclusion of Facebook, and personal reflections on pedagogy were also described.

Artes do encontro em ET Eu Tu, de Arnaldo Antunes e Marcia Xavier / Arts Meeting in ET Eu Tu, by Arnaldo Antunes and Marcia Xavier

Miola, Gabriela Canale 26 February 2014 (has links)
This thesis proposes to describe the similarities between literary text and photography focusing its analysis on ET Eu Tu, by Arnaldo Antunes and Marcia Xavier. It begins pointing the massive presence of visual images in contemporary experience and its relationship with literary creation. To understand the hyperbolic presence of the image in contemporary society there is a description of the main point of the technical image: photography. The photographic advent is then described in the context of its creation, the novelty that introduces the experience of the universe of images and their technical specifications. From the description of the history and innovations caused by photography is suggested that literature is a privileged space to see how the subjectivities were touched by this kind of image and how literature dialogues to its technique turning it into subject, object, or paradigm. It is followed by a brief classification that have been employed to address the creations that involve literature and photography. Then comes an investigation about the specificity of photopoetry and some possibilities of reading it. Some procedures present in ET Eu Tu that articulate verbal and imagistic field are described pointing the specific sense of photopoetry. The book is analyzed as a poetic project in which words and images cause experiences close to the cinema. Finally there is a reflection about otherness the central theme of the analyzed book. The thesis also contains a part of creation in fotopoesia entitled Carolina. It apply some principles of art education research in Comparative Literature proposing the establishment as a possibility for doctoral research in the area. Carolina presents a narrative that envolves poems in prose, photographs and design in which the reader is invited to follow a relationship between a photographer and photographed woman. Created in partnership with the artist Giuliano Lucas and the designer Juliana Colli, Carolina is a photobook about otherness, vision and reading.

The Relationship Between Marcia's Ego Identity Status Paradigm and Erikson's Psychosocial Theory

Anderson, Lawrence 01 May 1993 (has links)
While Erikson's psychosocial theory continues to dominate theoretical explanations of adolescent identity development. Marcia's ego identity status paradigm has become the primary basis to empirically measure such notions. Though Marcia's paradigm has its roots in psychosocial theory. questions have surfaced regarding the communality of Marcia's and Erikson's notions on identity. Issues of scope. connectedness. definition. terminology. and measurement have marked a potential divergence among the two approaches-views which until recently seemed almost unified. This study addressed the relationship between Erikson's psychosocial theory and Marcia's ego identity status paradigm. By administering identity and psychosocial stage-specific measures to a sample of college-age adolescents. an assessment of the empirical relationship between the two theories has been established. A general pattern was found that the highest levels of psychosocial trust. autonomy. initiative. and industry were reported by the achieved respondents, followed by the foreclosed, moratorium, and diffused respondents, respectively. Discriminant analysis also identified specific psychosocial differences between statuses. The achieved respondents reported higher levels of trust. autonomy, initiative. and industry than moratoriums: significantly higher levels of autonomy and industry than the foreclosed: and significantly higher levels of trust and initiative. and significantly lower levels of guilt when compared to diffused respondents. Moratoriums reported significantly higher levels of emotional autonomy and significantly lower levels of trust and initiative than foreclosed respondents. Moratoriums did report significantly higher initiative and lower guilt than the diffused. Foreclosed respondents reported significantly higher initiative and lower autonomy than diffused persons. These results provide significant-albeit initial----quantitative evidence that Marcia's ego identity status paradigm corresponds both specifically and broadly to Erikson's theory of identity development.

______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present text follows the Heideggerian existential ontology very closely, in particular in its poetic turning point opening the possibility of making criticisms and to radicalize traditional ontologies and aesthetics with their metaphysical assumptions, transcendent or transcendental. But I contest nevertheless the incorporeal Heideggerian ontology by means of a devoring (Oswald de Andrade), stateless (Vilém Flusser) and grey (Marcia Tiburi) corporeality aiming at the formulation of some Existential- aesthetic ontology.

This work is a critical exposition of conceptuallinks manifestedby the Lacanian theory and the pragmatic psychoanalysis, the latter circumscribed to texts of both Marcia Cavell and Jurandir Freire Costa. It is intended to get a panoramic presentation from the conceptual composition and ftom the meaning that the words acquire in the whole of each theoreticalpractice, without overlooking the exegeticalinvestigation. The two types of psychoanalytical theory are called "linguistic psychoanalysis", as they appealled to certain conceptions of language as a form of resolution of metaphysical and clinical problems inherited from Freudian theory. Nonetheless, their theoretical behaviour are considered as compuJsive, inasmuch as their theoreticalpractice blindly obey to a set of technicsand procedures incorporated to the action of cleaning the theory ftom conceptualimpurities. Each one adoptedits own conceptionoflanguage. Lacan, as an alternative to the referential conception of language presupposed by Freud, employed an idealist conception, and the pragmatic sychoanalysisresorted to a behavioral point of view, to accomplish their respective tasks. The work consists in questioning Lacan's substantialization of language, and the mentalism and mecanicism presented in the pragmatic psychoanalysiscase. Nothing seems to indicate that clinics would need such resorts, nor that those theories would not introduced new metaphysical problems / Doutorado / Doutor em Filosofia

Sandberg, Erik January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to bring together two different approaches on the concept of sketches in an attempt to broaden the understanding of what a sketch is and does. The first of these approaches is based on a notion of generative art presented by professor of art history and founder of Skissernas museum in Lund Ragnar Josephson (1891-1966). The second approach is situated in philosopher Marcia Sá Cavalcante Schubacks collection of phenomenological essays Att tänka i skisser: essäer om bildens filosofi & filosofins bilder (2011). By letting these two theories and Henri Matisse’s Chapel du rosaire and some of his sketches speak with each other my thesis establishes that the sketch is a non static motion towards shape.

Identiteit binne die konteks van studente-ontwikkeling

Müller, Amelia Eunice 20 August 2012 (has links)
M.A. / Identity development has a definite influence on a broad spectrum of developmental domains. This study focuses on specific domains such as student- and career development as facilitating structures from which the formation of a personal identity can be studied and understood. The purpose of this study is to undertake a descriptive investigation into the process of identity development during the late adolescent and early adulthood phases of college students. This developmental process has a definite influence on student development within aspects such as career maturity, intimacy and interpersonal relationships. These aspects' relevance to identity formation is also highlighted. This study utilises theories such as the psychosocial developmental perspective of Erik H. Erikson to investigate the purpose of a variety of factors within the sphere of student and career development. The test sample consisted of 78 students between the ages of 18 and 27 years from the Park Town Tertiary College. The following questionnaires were completed: the Extended Version of the Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status Questionnaire (EOM-EIS); the Career Development Questionnaire (CDQ) and the Student Developmental Task and Lifestyle Inventory (SDTLI). Taking the descriptive quality of this study in consideration, the statistical techniques used in the analysis of the quantitative data included canonical correlation analysis. The study concentrated on possible interventions and recommendations that takes the influence of identity developmental processes and career maturity in consideration with issues such as curriculum compilations, teaching methods and tertiary educational systems.
