Figueiredo, Renato Lacastagneratte de 30 October 2012 (has links)
How can such a problematic Discourse like advertising work? This research was born based on this question. Perceiving the presence of what it called the -negative Advertising Discourse characters?, it engendered an investigation about the signification possibilities of this Discursive Form. A series of critics and negative aspects were then identified, such as: the (1) -Advertising Voice Dissonance?; (2) the -Hyperbolic Discourse?; the (3) -Non Probable Engagement?; (4) -The Phantom Words?; (5) The Doubtful Ballast and Misleading Statements?; (6) -The Discourse Incoherence or Schizophrenia?; (7) the -One Sidedness? Message; (8) the -Materiality Deviation?. All of these characters would have the probability of working as perceptible -protuberances? of meaning, being capable of turning the message semeiosis to other communicative surfaces. This deviation would have a similar action to what could be called the -advertising fiduciary reading pact?, or the fact that the -catcher? of this message knows how to read it in levels which are parallels to the exposed message, such as, the -imagetic? or -socio-discursive imaginary? ones. From the identification of three Surfaces and its nine sublevels, this research intended to organize the communicative dynamics of the Advertising Discourse (AD), named Significance Perception and Production Process. It suggests that the message -catcher? (alternative term to -message receiver?), would have an active role not only in constructing, but perceiving the meanings which are also beyond or beneath the exposed message, for he is capable of identifying important signs in what was called the -message Format in a Context?. The Advertising Contextual, Formal and Expressive Surfaces are then conceptualized, being all the work organized around them. The theoretical frame adopted for these conceptualizations merges some of the main communication analysis streams: The Enunciation Theory; the Discourse Analysis; the Charles Sanders Peirce\'s Semiotics; the French Semiotics; the Social Psychology; and the Cognitive Theories. One hundred and fifty-four (154) advertising messages were selected to be analyzed, integrating an exploratory corpus and a confirmatory one (the latter aimed to validate the findings from the further research). In the last chapter, more ten ads were analyzed, in which the significance interaction between the nine indentified surfaces were investigated. It was possible to conclude that the negative characters lately identified were able to deviate the message expressivity to other surfaces that not the primary or central one, originating what was called the -Secondary Effect in Advertising Communication?, or the fact that new significance protuberances (mainly the critic ones) could be perceived in a high evolvement cognitive scenario or a low evolvement one. This deviation could make the advertising claims less expressive, relying its communicative effectiveness in the -imagetics?, the -imaginary? and what was called its -ontological? characters, which, in turn, could compromise the efficiency of this discourse in the long run. Therefore, the research could defend the argument of Advertising as a -Presentificist Discourse?, or being directed solely to the present time: an idea that encountered echo in some critical works in communication, such as Dominique Quessada\'s and Lucien Sfez\'.

Stocker, Pâmela Caroline January 2018 (has links)
This thesis investigates the meanings production and disputation in text-reader relationship when Brazilian reference journalism proposes new cultural maps of meaning about gender in its agenda. Through Discourse Analysis premises and a theoretical-methodological attitude inspired by Foucault's (1969) enunciative analysis, this research analyzed 2,460 reader’s comments. The comments were collected from seven different reports that addressed the transsexuality topic published on the Facebook of pages Galileu magazine, Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, Globo Repórter and Fantástico TV programs between 2015 and 2017. Since discourse’s possibilities are regulated by an “orders of discourse”, which means that each enunciation is understood as a good that has rules of appearance and appropriation and application conditions (FOUCAULT, 1971), this thesis aims to understand and problematize the meanings manifested by readers concerning new gender maps of meaning that were put in circulation by reference Brazilian journalism in different media. The analysis found seven meaning nucleuses that act on two directions: 1. In order to validate or invalidate the maps of meaning proposed by journalism, readers have mobilized meanings related to religiosity, biological explanations and references to prejudice. 2.In order to legitimize or delegitimize journalism, readers expressed meanings related to their social role, the approach classified as “ideological” or because of the scientific quality of news framings or publications. The meaning nucleus related to empathy was identified both to validate the new maps of meaning and to legitimize journalism. Considering the analysis of the entire sample of comments, it was observed that meanings production about identity and difference performed by the readers is directly related to the ways of journalism report making. The selection of more sensitive framings, distinct sources, more plural narrative strategies, the opening up to the other’s voice and experience and the complexity of the agenda – one that shows feminine values in a epistemological gender perspective - results in meanings which are more connected to empathy and readers’ openness to fairness, respect and compassion. By contrast, the harsher framings, the separations experiences of the characters, the attempt to simplify the subject, the usage of technical primary sources only, besides vertical and authoritarian narrative strategies – an approach identified as masculinist – give rise to meanings of maintenance and transformation of differences in inequalities and interdiction of new maps by readers. Finally, this research observed that journalism does not interact directly with its readers in the networking space, it prefers not to pronounce about the conversation produced in the comments space and remaining in its institutionalized place.

Prates, Camila Camargo January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation aims at investigating some pathways of meaning in the process of learning that emerged in the context of a playful space-teaching at the CIVITAS - Education and Health research project (LELIC/ PPGEdu/ UFRGS) - and which produced a composition work with this study. It proposes a way of recreational and educational intervention and research training related either to a group of children and adolescents as patients in a hospital or to a group of hospital educators both groups situated at the Hospital de Clínicas in Porto Alegre/RS. Through a cartographic exercise - that involved diaries, maps of meaning and flowcharts as production of data devices - that some relations between utterances and teaching-learning processes have been established and by which it has been intended to investigate: ways of becoming an educator and ways of becoming a student in a hospital environment. Under the philosophy of difference bias it has been addressed the disjunction between seeing and speaking in research, and that it has been thought to led the language onto "regions of intensity". From the image of a conceptual character - the bri(n)coleur teacher - it has been build up a writing as a escaping movement through which impersonal events have been analyzed, what goes on between the subjects. It is the ethical-aesthetic act of the educator that proposes to think meaning production in language. Thus, it is aesthetic movements in the learning as a process and not just the direct learning that occurs by recognition that have been considered. Concepts of health, disease, life and death have been discussed and with which it has been coexisted throughout the proposal endurance and through which new biases of existence in the ethics and aesthetics of the educator who works in this environment have been thought. Time has been thought - specially the future - unlinked from anticipations and predictions, though linked to the work of art as an inventive effort and creator of life itself. The intention was to contribute to the establishment of a learning space conducive to building conceptual experiences in relation to affective and perceptual experiences, to reflect the pedagogical practice of educators committed to this service, as well as to think about teaching practices that could leverage creative processes in the mentioned environment. The analysis output took place in two processes: one in the field of analytical reflection, and the other in the aesthetic-literary experimentation. The procedure then has become the actual process, the event itself, since it caused a shift of the empirical field, having experienced the process of writing as a new situation. And an analytic one which has been proposed to trial and has shown the capture of what has itself been touched. It is considered that the educator who works in this intuitive artistic perspective of production of itself and the world would be closer to life itself. Based on the understanding that social relations are given in the language and that language is political, via the proposition of the attention to expressions and utterances that permeate the hospital educational area, it is expected to contribute to those who have interest in pedagogical practices in this environment. Results give clues to think that the educator in a hospital environment can become an intercessor, establishing dialogical relations between health and education, through constant reflection and questioning of their own pedagogical practice that may allow an act-uttering in constant learning.

Ledur, Rejane Reckziegel January 2013 (has links)
This thesis aims to problematize the meaning production in contemporary art. It is based on an investigation that used the esthetic experiences of students in their pedagogical visits to the 8th Mercosul Biennial. The research is characterized by a qualitative approach that intends to comprehend the meanings that are assigned to the experiences by each subject. The theoretical support is the John Dewey concept of experience, finding in the discursive semiotics of A. J. Greimas the theoretical and methodological source to the meaning analysis. The study discusses the challenges of present day education, considering the ability to see and the experience with contemporary art at the school context. In order to do this, since it is problematized the teaching of art, there is an emphasis on the approaches developed by Thierry de Duve and Ana Mae Barbosa, and to comprehend contemporary art, it is taken the support of Arthur Danto, Anne Cauquelin e Nicolas Bourriaud theoretical ideas. The research takes the experiences from students in final grades of Elementary Education from three public schools assisted by the city of Canoas/RS/Brazil. These experiences were analyzed using the modes of meaning and interaction that were presented by Eric Landowski. As the interaction with contemporary art was considered as a sensible and intelligible experience, it was observed the recurrence of specific meanings grounded in basic principles from the esthetic experience with contemporary art. The comprehension built around the perception of meanings, which were produced by the students in the interaction with contemporary art, was represented using the semiotic square. In this scheme, modes of contemplation, questioning, meaning and perception were pointed out as a result of contemporary art apprehension.

This research is dedicated to the relationship between proximity and remoteness, caused by media imagens, through the ties that such surfaces produce in the mediation between man and world, and between man and the media itself. The purpose of the research is support the epistemological expansion of visual journalism and it considers that the senses produced by the visual information are important in the discursive news construction. Proximity and remoteness have a binary, polar and asymmetric relation and because of this it attaches to imagery communication sometimes positive and sometimes negative load, according to its configuration and context. Different ways of using images in Brasilian journalism from this dichotomy will be analyzed, particularly in printed and online media. This will be according to the discursive strategies that allow the viewer zoom in or out of the information or the media itself. The theoretical and conepctual construction of work is mainly created from the media studies theorist Harry Poss (about the relational theory of signs and symbolic structure of power). It's also created from the philosopher Vilém Flusser (on how to handle the reading of images), besides other authors such as Hans Belting, Dietmar Kamper and, of Brazil, Norval Baitello Junior, Malena Segura Contrera and Luciano Guimarães
