Specifically, in the television production, where politicians play the central role or those series which take place in the political sphere and in the state bureaucracy. Another condition is that the stories are fictitious and originally produced in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The researcher choosed those TV series for his research: Yes, Minister; Yes, Prime Minister; The New Statesman, the trilogy of House of Cards, To Play The King, and The Final Cut; and The Thick of It. The research tracks individual series with the focus on the theme of the research. After introducing the reviewed material, it focuses on individual characters and their relationship to the media or whether they are directly representatives of the media professions. This research project explores how we can apply Emerging Design Landscapes such as Critical Design and Collective Creativity, in combination with traditional fields of visual communication to address societal challenges in cooperation with society. In particular, this paper aims to question the visual representation of nuclear warfare, and how we could utilize Peircean Semiotics to better understand set representation. The design outcome is a critical board game that at its core aims to create a discussion around the visual representation of nuclear warfare today and act as a learning platform that would help its user better understand the practice of semiosis.

The main topic of this diploma thesis is the development of Mrs. Dagmar Damková media image between 2003-2017. Mrs. Damková is a former football referee and became the first woman who managed a football match in the Czech 1st Men's League in 2003. She has been professionally successful and popular with the public and the media in a purely male environment. She has become one of the world's best female referee and has been managing the prestigious games of the biggest foreign events. She ended her career as a referee in 2011 and began her new career path as a functionary. Besides this, she became a chairwomen of the Committee of the Referees of the Football Association of the Czech Republic. She was directly responsible for the actions of the referees, and was therefore often criticized by the media. Her relationship with the influential but controversial functionary Roman Berbr was also known to the public at that time, which has increased the interest of her person from the media. Mrs. Damková had withdrawn from the public after leaving the Refereeing Commission and the media did not refer to her so often. Diploma thesis "Media Image of AC Sparta Prague in Deník Sport after Daniel Křetínský's Czech News Center joined the Czech Media Market" deals with comparison of the media content of Deník Sport in selected periods. The selected area was chosen because of the company of Daniel Křetínský, who is currently also the owner of AC Sparta Prague, bought the publishing house of Deník Sport. In this thesis is used the media content analysis, which should confirm or disprove the hypothesis, that the content of Deník Sport was changed in 2014 for Sparta Prague. In the theoretical part of this thesis the development of the Czech media ownership after 1989 is described, also the topics of journalistic values and possible ethics problems like conflict of interests are stated. The results of the media analysis should be added in interviews with the Deník Sport's staffers.

This diploma thesis Interaction of media and marketing discourse on the media image of musician Tomáš Klus examines the influence of the corporate agenda through the marketing and PR department of a record label Sony Music Entertainment Czech Republic s.r.o. on the agenda of the media, which represent the work of three full-scale Czech newspaper MF Dnes, Právo a Blesk. The theoretical approach is being built on the basic theses of media construction of reality and construction of media image, the concept of agenda setting and issue of the music industry. Thus, areas involved and influence the marketing and media world and form the basic framework of the theoretical structure of media reality. The empirical part is devoted to a particular process of agenda setting on an example of the media image of a Czech musician Tomáš Klus over three years through marketing and PR department of a record label Sony Music Entertainment Czech Republic s.r.o. sampled for analysis of print media - newspapers MF Dnes, Law and Flash. The goal is to trace how and to what extent the marketing discourse influences the media discourse and how does this interaction influence the musician's final media image.

The aim of the thesis is to find out how the media image is changing during the term of office and which topics are primarily associated with him. The necessary data was obtained from the media database Anopress, through which the relevant articles of two national newspapers (Mladá Fronta DNES and Právo) were chosen. Another purpose of the work is to assess if the media image is influenced by the fact that Mladá Fronta DNES is owned by Andrej Babiš.

The master thesis is focusing on media image of Emil Zátopek using the method of qualitative content analysis. Five periods of time, each of them six months long and sixteen years apart, are examined. These periods of time are represented by the years 1952, 1968, 1984, 2000, 2016 in which the Summer Olympic Games were held. As a representative sample of the printed media during the time of communist hegemony in Czechoslovakia Rudé právo, Mladá fronta and Československý sport that has been thematically involved (there has been no analysis for this one during the year 1952 since the first print was published in 1953) were chosen. The printed media after the revolution time are represented by Právo, Mladá fronta Dnes and Sport. The thesis brings the answers to the main research question how the media image of the most successful Czechoslovak runner was developed in the context of political and that time contemporary situation and it also explains the other questions that are focused on the causes of this possible change and the difference between the presentation of mass media during the communist and later also democratic regime. The Role of US Foreign Policy, 2013-2022, In the Construction of the Media Image of Sweden

Reports of smear campaigns and manipulated narratives about Sweden unfolding online, following a few derogatory comments by US President Donald Trump (2017-21), provided this thesis with three research aims. (1) To investigate the framing of Sweden in some of the most influential US newspapers, (2) to examine the agenda-setting role and influence of the president through US foreign policy, (3) to construct a comprehensive US media image of Sweden. To be up-to-date and for comparative purposes, the period 2013-2022 was selected to accommodate the presidencies of Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. The chosen theories make sure a common thread is running through all parts of the thesis, and enhance our understanding of the environment in which this thesis takes place. Rooted in a positivist epistemology, a quantitative content analysis was conducted to systematically go through vast amounts of data. Although considering other external factors and explanations for the empirical data, this thesis successfully isolates US foreign policy as an independent variable. It finds that the interest in Sweden and tone more generally declined from Obama to Trump and then back to be more positive again during Biden. It seems that the way Sweden is framed – and that certain topics get politically activated – is indeed linked to how the US interacts with foreign nations. The thesis adds to a rather limited research field, and provides a platform for future studies. It, also, increases our knowledge of the role of US foreign policy in framing nations with which the US, for the most part, has a positive relationship. This study is relevant and of interest to people, not least scholars, that desire to learn more about determinants in US media, foreign policy, and international relations.

Úmrtí Karla Gotta pohledem vybraného českého a německého tisku / Death of Karel Gott from the Point of View of Chosen Czech and German Press

This thesis deals with the media image of Karel Gott after his death. Selected newspapers are Lidové noviny, Blesk, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Bild and analysed are 24 days after the announcement of the death of Karel Gott. The aim of the selection of newspapers in both languages was to include one periodical which is considered as quality press and one tabloid. The thesis consist of three parts. The theoretical part explains crucial terms for the analysis and introduces chosen newspapers. The methodological part clarifies the concept of qualitative research and grounded theory. The main part is comprised of the analytical part which describes outcome of the analysis and in four periods presents constructed images of Karel Gott. In conclusion, images created in Czech and German press are compared and subsequently, a comparison between the Czech media is drawn.
