LEPIČOVÁ, Zuzana January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis titled Cyber Bullying in the world of new media deals with one of the potential risks associated with the use of new information and communication media cyber bullying. The goal of the thesis is to map the awareness of parents about possible forms of cyber bullying and about the risks associated with the use of modern information technology by their children. The introduction of the theoretical part of the thesis deals with the explanation of basic terms which are associated with the issue of new media, such as: media, new media and cyberspace. Then there is a section which is dedicated to the issue of cyber bullying and its comparison with the traditional bullying. The section deals with forms of cyber bullying and with perpetrators of cyber bullying, and with the forms of prevention, intervention and possible impacts of cyber bullying. The practical part of the thesis contains the description of the used methodology and the description of the research sample. It also includes the results of research and the discussion, which is focused on comparing the results of the research with opinions of experts working in the field of cyber bullying. The strategy of quantitative research, through the questionnaire survey of parents of children and adolescents, was used to verify the hypotheses. The field collection of data was carried out from May 2014 to December 2014. The results of the research show that the parents of children and adolescents are aware of the risks associated with using the modern information technologies. The research proved that the parents know about the forms of cyber bullying as well as about the risks associated with cyber bullying and that they have awareness of what materials are published on social networks by their children. Results of the thesis can be offered to the managements of elementary schools in Písek District. The thesis can be used as an informative material by parents of children and adolescents, and by teachers and educational counsellors at primary and secondary schools.

Koncept nastolování agendy v kontextu českých mediálních studií / Context of agenda-setting in the context of Czech media studies

Nečas, Vlastimil January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation thesis follows from a wide stream of considerations of the relationship between the mass media, public and politics; in particular detail, it deals with a specific concept which attempts to grasp, model and empirically examine this relationship. The main goals of the thesis can be in short divided into two interrelated areas. The first aim is to introduce the concept of agenda setting to the Czech academic environment, with its theoretical, terminological and research frame for an analysis of relationships between the mass media content, dynamics of public opinion, and the political sphere. The second aim is to analyze how agenda setting processes are theoretically grounded and studied in the Czech social studies. The theoretical part of the thesis is structured according to two perspectives: diachronic and synchronic. In the diachronic perspective, I try to grasp the social context and historical origins of agenda-setting as a concept, its development, main trends, and developmental lines. This way, I move forward to the synchronic perspective and describe academic grounding of agenda-setting; I give a detailed analysis of the present level of the agenda-setting research and the main research areas through available classifications. The second fundamental area of the dissertation consists...

Virtuelle Nothilfe - Ein Experiment zum Effekt von virtueller Hilfe, Gewalt und Nothilfe auf Hilfe- und Gewaltverhalten / Virtual Emergency Assistance - The Effect of Virtual Helping, Aggression and Emergency Assistance on Helping and Aggressive Behavior

Mohseni, M. Rohangis 23 July 2013 (has links)
A recent meta-analysis of Anderson and colleagues (2010) shows that violent behavior in computer games promotes violent behavior in real-life and inhibits prosocial behavior. A couple of studies conducted by Greitemeyer and Osswald (2010) lead to the conclusion that helping behavior in computer games furthers helping behavior in real-life. There exist no studies examining the combined effect of violence and helping in computer games, although this combination is typical for violent video games (Anderson et al., 2010). In violent RPGs, a lot of tasks consist of helping someone by using violence. The present study addresses this issue and bridges the current empirical gap by investigating if violent emergency assistance furthers helping behavior and/or violent behavior in real-life. To accomplish that, the role-playing game “Oblivion” was modified to create four different experimental conditions: (1) violent emergency assistance, (2) killing, (3) helping, and (4) treasure hunting. Comparing these conditions, violent emergency assistance seemingly reduces helping behavior in real-life and at the same time furthers violent behavior. The results are in unison with the moral management model (Hartmann & Vorderer, 2010; Hartmann, in press), which is based on Banduras Theory of Moral Disengagement (Bandura, 2002).
