L'essor de la culture virtuelle au Liban, entre effervescence numérique et instabilité politique : Réseaux sociaux, musique en ligne et sites institutionnels / The development of virtual culture in Lebanon through digital effervescence and political instability : social medias, online music and institutional sites

Daezly, Haytham 08 November 2016 (has links)
Today, turning the dark page of lebanese civil war chapter that hit the country for fifteen years, and after all these years of war, death and destruction that the country has lived despite its conflicts, the germ of sectarianism remains present in its constitutional mosaic. Where is the question that arises : will there be a postwar period for culture ? The war left deep traces of course, but civil society is mobilising and it is particularly in the arts where it finds the outcome. Moreover, diversity of the Lebanese population, composed of different ethnic and religious groups, has contributed to the cultural melting pot of a country in its perpetual artistic boil. Currently, social medias and Internet network, Web 2.0 applications and digital devices invade our daily life, and the advent of ICTs which have enabled the development of a completely new economy that is one of the digital economy, called Internet economy also, producers and consumers have changed their behavior. It is important to question the role and impact of new ICT technologies of virtual culture in Lebanon, relying on contemporary artists practices who are "committed" with their "online" status. What messages do they use to promote their ideas and art ? In this context, we identify the key players of the digital mediation to bring out the most relevant cultural practices of different institutions in Lebanon. Such are the challenges, among others, in which we are interested in our thinking.

Mediator and the mediations : divine self-disclosure in Thomas F. Torrance

Chung, Khiam Boon Titus January 2009 (has links)
Could a work of revelation justify itself today as a viable theological project? The question is imperative especially when sceptics have questioned the validity of revelation as a doctrinal discipline. Colin Gunton traces the modern difficulty with revelation to the influence of Hegel in giving rise to immediacy, and suggests that attention should be given to mediation. It is in this light we argue that the distinctiveness of Thomas F. Torrance’s theology of revelation and mediation is able to contribute significantly to the debate and bring a fresh breeze to the theological landscape laden with a sense of revelation-weariness. Principally we are making two claims. First, divine self-disclosure in Torrance’s theological scheme instead of immediacy is the mediation of God in Jesus Christ. It is through the Mediator who bridges between God and humanity that the self-revelation of God is finally and fully mediated, and the normative pattern of the union and communion of divine and human action of revelation and mediation is set. We would argue that dualism is, to Torrance, the threat to Christ’s revelation and mediation, and the way of surmounting is to return to the scientific realism of understanding God appropriately in accordance with the compulsive nature of his self-disclosure. Our discussion of Torrance’s pneumatology and multiple mediations involves the second claim. Notwithstanding the intent to uphold the primacy of scriptural mediation, we argue that Torrance, in responding to dualistic peril, has made the unusual move to advocate the effacement of scripture in revelation. Such move is unjustifiable as it has adverse repercussion not only for the mediation of scripture, but other media of revelation as well. The move has subtly gravitated revelation from mediation to immediacy and subverted Torrance’s theological framework. What is required of Torrance to overcome the dualistic tension, as we claim in the discussion of the church, Word and sacraments, and contingent creation as media of revelation, is to remain in line with the normative pattern of revelation and mediation which he has built upon the foundation of the Mediator. Essentially revelation in Torrance’s scheme is the mediation of God’s self-disclosure in Christ, and the continuous unfolding of that revelation by the conjoint work of the divine and the human through multiple mediations in human history. Finally, we would engage Paul Tillich and Colin Gunton in providing Torrance with alternatives that affirm the validity of scriptural mediation.

Elogio à dispersão: o coletivo mesa e os percursos urbanos como uma experiência estético-política na cidade de Fortaleza / Praise to the dispersion: the coletivo mesa and the percursos urbanos as an aesthetic-political experience in the city of Fortaleza/CE

Evropské trendy v soudní mediaci a jejich využití v ČR / European Trends in Judicial Mediation and Their Use in the Czech Republic

Tošnerová, Ráchel January 2018 (has links)
EUROPEAN TRENDS IN JUDICIAL MEDIATION AND THEIR USE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC Abstract This dissertation deals with the phenomenon of judicial mediation. In the first part, it defines the term of mediation as such and determines its essential and additional elements. Further, the text looks into the wide spectrum of cases in which this method of alternative dispute resolution can be applied. The author specifically points out that limiting its use to family matters is rather inappropriate. The following section systematically identifies the individual types, forms and methods of mediation so that each mediation can be customized for the respective case. Finally, the first part ends with a reflection on the current issues connected to criticism of mediation. These are the enforcement of international mediated settlement agreements, the potential conflict with access to justice and the binding nature as well as enforceability of mediation clauses including their stipulation in general terms and conditions. The second part is an analysis of the use of judicial mediation in selected European countries - Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and Spain. Different approaches to the implementation of the mediation directive are described as well as techniques for the promotion of its use. The output of the...

Exercising non-dominant mediative power violence interruption in the periphery communities of Florianópolis, Brazil

Ordway, Jared Lodric January 2015 (has links)
This thesis examines how informal mediation is practiced in Brazil’s urban periphery communities, which are often associated with high levels of violence and insecurity. Based on ethnographic data from low-income neighborhoods in Florianópolis, my analysis of local people’s interventions offers insight into the way that non-state, unarmed actors exercise mediative agency in the midst of everyday violence and insecurity. While a growing body of research shows that state and non-state actors are guided by diverse conceptions, intentions and approaches when they attempt to mediate public and private conflict amongst residents, less attention has been paid to the symbiotic relationship between, or the social impact of, conflict intervention and the reproduction of violence. This thesis argues that interveners use their interactions with antagonists in a particular territory in order to cultivate nondominant power, which serves to obstruct and interrupt the way that violence reproduces and transmits into residents’ lives. As such, it suggests that mediators can enable social change because they have a very particular relationship with the different and interdependent types of violence present in the periphery. Interveners develop and deploy a repertoire of social mediative tactics in order to contend with the complexity of local tensions and the erosion of democratic citizenship that these tensions produce. Defining mediative practices as a source of power invites discussion into community mediation’s strategic potential in the project of urban peacebuilding and violence reduction, positing new directions for applied practices in Brazil and beyond.

Children's understanding of online data privacy : a study on Scottish Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils

Alias, Amelia January 2018 (has links)
There is growing concern over online privacy in today’s digital worlds, in part due to the nature of social media, which encourages the disclosure of personal information. Such concerns have resulted in a significant amount of research, so far focused on adults’ and teenagers’ perceptions of privacy and privacy management. This study aims to explore how children perceive online privacy. It addresses three research questions: RQ 1: What are children’s views of online privacy? RQ 2: What are parents’ views of online privacy? Do their views on privacy influence how they deal with their children’s privacy? RQ 3: What are the benefits and disadvantages of different Internet parental mediation strategies for children’s online privacy? Twenty-six semi-structured one-to-one interviews and ten focus group sessions were conducted with fifty-seven pupils aged 9 to 11 years old (Primary 6 and Primary 7), from one school in Scotland. Additionally, 8 parents were interviewed to understand how their perceptions of privacy influenced their Internet parenting strategies. This study has three overarching findings. The first overarching finding is related to children’s and parents’ views about the Internet as an unsafe place, occasionally leading parents to deploy restrictive and monitoring Internet parental mediation strategies. Second, children view privacy as more difficult to achieve online than offline for two main reasons: (1) the Internet is a ‘bigger space’ populated by a massive number of ‘people’, most of whom they do not know nor have they ever seen (‘strangers’), and (2) there are certain difficulties in managing the privacy settings of social networking sites. The third finding is that trust, autonomy and privacy are interrelated. Trust reduce privacy concerns, encouraged for two-way information sharing between children and parents, with an expectation that parents will be able to help identify potential and also unexpected online issues, and necessary advice and safety precautions can be taught to children. As a result, children will potentially be able to manage their online activities in an increasingly autonomous way. Trust is important not only in interpersonal relationships, but also for building confidence for contexts in which we do not have any prior knowledge, such as with strangers or with the providers of online platforms.

Salvador

Multiculturals in organizations : Their roles for organizational effectiveness / Les rôles d'individus multiculturels dans les organisations

Hong, Hae-Jung 01 June 2012 (has links)
This dissertation explores multiculturals in global corporations. To date, limited research helps us understand the role of multicultural individuals in facilitating the effective functioning of global teams. To investigate this under-examined phenomenon, this dissertation presents the first empirical study of the roles of multiculturals in organizations by facilitating 10-month ethnographic field work in two MNCs: a leading cosmetic MNC and an auditing and consulting MNC. This dissertation comprises three papers. The first paper develops the theoretical model of bicultural competence and its impact on multicultural team effectiveness. I define bicultural competence, determine its antecedents, and identify two roles that bi/multiculturals might play in promoting multicultural team effectiveness: boundary spanner and conflict mediator. The second paper examines multiculturals’ cultural brokerage role for team work processes in global new product development teams: how multiculturals influence teams’ knowledge processes and handle cross-cultural conflicts (not only collocated but also virtual between corporate headquarters and local subsidiaries). Multiculturals play a critical role that influence knowledge processes and cross-cultural conflict management within global teams where cultural and national heterogeneity seems more complicated than organizational researchers have recognized to date. The third paper investigates boundary conditions and how they impact multiculturals to enact their roles. I compare and contrast multiculturals in two MNCs in different industries. In particular, I identify boundary conditions that have impact on multiculturals in three levels of analysis: organizational; team; individual. Furthermore, I propose what factors challenge or enable multiculturals and accordingly, how multiculturals overcome challenges and use given opportunities in order to perform effectively or yield such challenges in organizations

Perspektivy mimosoudního řešení rodinných (civilních) sporů v České republice / Perspectives of out-of-court settlement of family (civil) disputes in the Czech Republic

Vaňková, Eva January 2018 (has links)
Perspectives of out-of-court settlement of family (civil) disputes in the Czech Republic Abstract The dissertation thesis focuses on the latest instruments of out-of-court dispute resolution in the Czech Republic. I explain the concept of ADR, which traditionally involves reconciliation, mediation, and arbitration, and I outline other possible methods emerging from innovative approaches to working with families. The dissertation thesis focuses on the right of collaboration (CL/CP method) and complementary and integrative practice in the sphere of private law. I analyze the approaches of the German "Cochem model" promoted by the Office for International Legal Protection of Children, and I present an example of good practice at the District Court in Nový Jičín. I analyze these methods of out-of-court dispute resolution from the point of view of current legislation in the Czech Republic, and I note the influence of international documents on their existence and application in practice. I consider the role of law and lawyers in solving family disputes and, above all, the importance of new legislation of private law in out-of-court dispute resolution. I address the issue of the need for public power to intervene into family life in cases of children at risk due to parental conflict as well as the role of bodies...
