No. of bitstreams: 1 Mauro Esteves Hernandes.pdf: 1344694 bytes, checksum: 2390d3e0a4a9e6e6e99d80cbff005323 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-02-09 / Introduction: The complexity of becoming a professor at the Medical School has been cause for concern in recent decades among professionals in the field. However, few studies and case reports have been published. Progressively during the physician’s professional career, there is possibility of improving his scientific knowledge in a specific field and at a given moment, he is faced with the possibility of becoming a professor, often without adequate pedagogical knowledge to develop such a function, which consequently impacts the quality of the learning process. Objective: To analyze the transition from community physician to a Medical School professor in a university located at northwest of Sao Paulo, as well as assessing the physician’s perceptions and feelings related to the implementation of the course with active methodologies and whether there is a difference between the curricular units. After approval of the Research Ethics Committee, two different samples of medical professors were obtained from two different curricular units from the medical school: Training of Medical Abilities and Attitudes (THAM) and Tutorial Module (MT). Qualitative data was obtained in two different moments and the groups answered a total of four questions. The analysis of the data content was based on Bardin (2011). Conclusion: The perception of how different these performance spaces are was unanimous. They feel able to the professional activity and unable to teaching. The short time for teaching activity caused fear, anguish, anxiety and insecurity, exacerbated by the lack of preparing for that. The skills and learning acquired during the accomplishment of the Professional Masters in Education made the construction of the pedagogical process easier. The teaching activity impacted the life of the medical professional since the moment that it provoked the reflection and changes of behavior in their professional practice / Introdução: A complexidade de tornar-se médico docente em Curso de Graduação em Medicina tem sido motivo de preocupação nas últimas décadas entre profissionais da área.

The effects of HIV/AIDS on medical private practice businesses in KwaZulu-Natal : the case study of Umlazi township.

Msomi, Roy Thulasizwe. January 2012 (has links)
The HIV/AIDS pandemic has had a seriously negative impact on the South African workplace, with industries experiencing the many adverse effects of the disease such as the problem of absenteeism. Other effects of HIV/AIDS at the workplace include loss of productivity and profitability, especially if the disease is not managed properly. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of HIV/AIDS within the private medical practice industry in Umlazi Township, in the Province of KwaZulu Natal. The research methodology used was quantitative. There are only 40 private medical practices in Umlazi Township. The entire population of private medical practices is included in the sample because of the manageable population size. No sampling method was therefore used. Close-ended questionnaires ware hand delivered to all the doctors in all the private medical practices in Umlazi. The questionnaires were collected once the doctor indicated that s/he completed it. The salient finding of this study were that HIV/AIDS induced absenteeism is a major challenge for private medical practitioners. A good HIV/AIDS policy is necessary for the medical doctors to effectively manage HIV/AIDS at their private medical practices. While the respondents acknowledged the effectiveness of an HIV/AIDS policy if implemented, they understood that it would be difficult to implement it. Because of its effect on business sustainability, HIV/AIDS can result in serious problems for private medical practices, including bankruptcy. The recommendations of the study are for private medical practices to implement their own HIV/AIDS policy – which must encompasses education, training and treatment of those that are infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. The study highly recommends and encourages staff to undergo VCT (Voluntary Counselling and Testing) so that the disease can be identified early – which makes management of it timely, and more effective. / Thesis (MBA)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, 2012.

Medicina hospitalar medicina extra-hospitalar? Duas medicinas? / Hospital medicine - medicine outside the hospital? Two medicines?

Eduardo Luiz Vieira de Almeida 28 September 1988 (has links)

How to utilise marketing opportunities in a highly regulated environment : the veterinary industry

King, Philip Albert 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MBA (Business Management))--Stellenbosch University, 2008. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The veterinary industry is operating in a highly regulated environment. Up till now these regulations prevented veterinarians to freely market veterinary services, especially professional services. Every business person in the biggest part of the world is subject to free-market economic pressures. However in the case of the professional, who is also a business person, these economic market-pressures could become very intense and unbalanced, and lead to what is called the “professional dilemma” (Du Preez, 2003: 8). Professional persons are governed by their respective codes of conduct. Those professionals who practice as entrepreneurs therefore need to be more business skilled and creative to successfully manage their businesses as they do not have the luxury of utilising the normal business strategies and options. The state of professionalism within the veterinary profession in South Africa in terms of entrepreneurship has been addressed in the past, but there is still a major gap in terms of providing business tools to managers in the veterinary industry. The biggest challenge in terms of the general business functions faced by veterinarians is the marketing function, thus the reason for this study. It is necessary that the highly regulated environments of professionals being understood. Therefore the research has been conducted by highlighting these environments. The researcher then continues to analyse the internal and external environment, client needs and customer profile in order to identify ways of optimising marketing opportunities. / AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die veeartseny industrie word bedryf in ‘n hoogs gereguleerde omgewing.

Des outils conceptuels et méthodologiques pour la médecine générale / Conceptual and methodological tools for general practice

Roland, Michel 02 March 2006 (has links)
