O teatro de Nelson Rodrigues: traduções e encenação em língua inglesa / Nelson Rodrigues\' theater: translations and performances in English Language

Origuela, Daniella Avelaneda 02 March 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation is to analyse some translations and performances of Nelson Rodrigues´s theater presented in English recently. Theater Translation is not a very explored area within Translation Studies. The relationship between text and performance must be taken into consideration when translating for the stage. Theater texts can not be treated as literature due to the multiple nature of their signs, that goes beyond the linguistic dimension, including also rhythm, intonation, pause, design, costume and gesture, among other aspects. Analysing translations and performances staged in the United States and in England, it will be possible to see how the transposition of the Portuguese text into English occurred. The analysis includes linguistic issues and aspects related to theater as well.

Modelagem de curvas de juros usando amostragem de frequências mistas / The term structure of interest rates model using mixed data sampling

Minioli, Ana Carolina Santana 04 July 2014 (has links)
Os resultados indicam que incorporação de informações diárias e mensais em um mesmo modelo permite ganhos significantes de ajuste, superando as estimativas usuais baseadas em modelos sem informações macroeconômicas e nos métodos usuais de estimação do modelo de Diebold e Li (2006) / In this present work, we propose a dynamic model for the term structure of interest rates with macroeconomic variables based on Diebold e Li (2006)\'s and Nelson e Siegel (1987)\'s researches. The estimation procedure we intend to build allows time series data sampled at different frequencies, mixing daily observations of yield curves and monthly observations of macroeconomic variable through a Mixed Data Sampling (MIDAS) regression. We also make use of a multivariate stochastic volatility structure for the latent factors and allow the parameter that governs the exponential decay rate to vary trough time, which enables us to capture changes both in the conditional volatility structure and in the curve\'s shapes during long periods. The estimation procedure is based on Baeysian inference trough the usage of of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. We applied these models to the U.S. Treasure bonds\' yield curve from 1997 to 2011. The results denote that joining daily and monthly information into the same model allows significant gains on fitting these models to the term structure, overcoming the usual estimates based on models without macroeconomics information and on regular estimation methods of Diebold e Li (2006)\'s model.

Pires, Carolina Soares 01 September 2015 (has links)
A study of the adaptations of two of Nelson Rodrigues\'s writings to cinema and television, analyzing the relationship between text and film work, being considered the particularities of each language, to evaluate how the dialog between original text and adaptation is done and where these adaptations stand in the cinematographic and television aesthetics. From these analysis, since the melodramatic aesthetic is an intersection point between text, cinema and TV, the research identifies the part and mediations of the melodrama in these adaptations and how the melodramatic aesthetic constitutes a key of interpretation and representation of Rodrigues\'s work in both medias.

Motta, Gabriela Kremer da 19 October 2015 (has links)
Comoumsótrabalho (Asasinglejob) - about the geographic scale works of Nelson Felix - investigates a specific set of works by the artist, precisely those whose construction involves extreme geographic dislocation, a dilated temporal experience and the premise of continuous interconnection between all of the artist\'s works. Marked by the constructive rigor and by a series of symbolic determinations, Felix\'s production turns to organic forms, planetary cycles, music and written poetry, in a game of equivalences and reverberation that presents itself in a stellar way, simultaneously aware of and unsubordinated to the contemporary aesthetic paradigms. Thus, starting from reflections that problematize the ambivalent relations between the work of Nelson Felix and the tradition of sculpture, the research finds, in the processes of construction of projects by the artist, the concepts that will guide this discussion. These reflexes basically rely on continuation of works, on the super-human temporality to which they are submitted and on the monumental invisibility of the work.

Reflexos de Moçambique na narrativa para crianças e jovens: um estudo da obra O homem que não podia olhar para trás / Reflections of Mozambique in the narrative for children and young people: a study of the work \"O homem que não podia olhar para trás\"

Ruiz, Regina Celia 14 September 2015 (has links)
This paper aims to analyze, from the perspective of Comparative Studies, the work O homem que não podia olhar para trás from the Mozambican writer Nelson Saúte, pointing out the hybrid of the text, performed by several dialogues that are closely connected among brands of oral tradition and stylistic and aesthetic aspects of the narrative, in constant relation to Roberto Chichorro\'s paintings. This combination of languages, bringing up reminiscences left by the myth of Orpheus, refers to important aspects of the history of Mozambique.

A deconstruction of the dialectic of law and order, between Jacques Derrida and Nelson Goodman

Barrau, Aurélien 20 January 2016 (has links)
Our hypothesis is the following : for different reasons and with different methods, Derrida and Goodman have both deconstructed one of the pillars of the Western philosophical tradition. Derrida, using the subtleties of the differance concept, has shaken the general entreprise of « organisation ». On the other hand, Goodman, by considering numerous constructed worlds that cannot be reduced one to the other, questions the desire of unity. We have tried to establish that metaphysics has developed in a dialectic articulation of order and unity, using one when the other fails. If the groundings of the history of philosophy were then to be revisited, it would be useful — if not necessary — to use simultaneously the derridean and goodmanian views. This the originality of this project. To break the dialectic mechanics using order to cure multiplicity, or the other way round, we have reconsidered the tradition using both deconstruction and nominalism, Derrida’s disorder and Goodman’s diversity. We have tried to show that the efficiency of the questioning of the « unity myth » depends on how far the « order myth » has been revised. Considering simultaneously both Derrida’s and Goodman’s systems allows to avoid the dialectic neutralisation of the proposal. The study is performed through the question of truth.

Knowledge of midwives at Community Health Centres and Midwife Obstetrics Units in the Nelson Mandela Bay regarding the use of the Road-to-Health Chart

Dumisani-Ndlovu, Sidumisile Charity, Sonti, Balandeli S I, James, S January 2017 (has links)
The challenge of child mortality between the ages of 0 and 5 years has extensively increased over the past few years. Furthermore, the ever-evolving and complex consequences of ineffective monitoring of children’s growth and development have been identified as one of the reasons for this increase in child mortality. The Road-to-Health Chart was developed and redesigned for use by child nurses and midwives to monitor children’s growth and development. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the midwives at community healthcare centres in the Nelson Mandela Bay area had the necessary knowledge to utilise the Road-to-Health Chart effectively. Permission to conduct the study was sought from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, the Department of Health and the participants. A quantitative, non-experimental descriptive survey was used in this research. The population consisted of all the midwives working in the Midwife Obstetric Unit and community healthcare centres within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipal area. The sample was extracted from the targeted population but from willing participants that met the inclusion criteria. The research data-collection method was a self-developed questionnaire with closed-ended statements to measure the knowledge of how effectively the midwives in the Nelson Mandela Bay area were using the RTHC. The researcher ensured the validity of the questionnaire by focusing on the instrument’s validity, construct validity, content validity and face validity. Ethical considerations, including permission, informed consent, confidentiality and anonymity, were adhered to. The most significant findings showed that midwives at CHCs and MOUs in the Nelson Mandel Bay area were knowledgeable about the importance of the RTHC to the mother and child and the use of the RTHC. These findings may assist in the identification of measures to enhance the knowledge of midwives about the use of the RTHC thus ultimately facilitating the use of the RTHC by mothers as intended.
