Domestic spaces in the information era : architectural design, images and life in a technological ageSustersic, Paolo January 2013 (has links)
The aim of the research is to contribute to a critical interpretation of the multiple dimensions that shape the concept and the practice of contemporary living by analyzing the transformations that domestic space has experienced within the framework of the Information Society. The study emerges from the evidence that the changes that emerged due to the diffusion of information and communication technologies have originated a new social, economic and cultural paradigm that has deeply transformed the way in which contemporary domestic spaces are imagined, designed and lived. Deeply affecting life habits, these changes put into question the persistence of traditional conceptual models related to domestic space such as protection, intimacy, privacy and reproduction of consolidated family structures, recording the appearance of new interpretative categories with respect to private space and the activities developed there, such as connectivity, flexibility, ubiquitousness, transformability and mobile domesticity, among others. The research deals with four main aspects: a) the social and cultural context in which the contemporary debate on domestic space is situated; b) the historical context of the second half of the 20th century when various interpretations of dwelling were formulated in an era dominated by technology and information; c) a proposal to reformulate the concept of living from the perspective of becoming in light of functional transformations of contemporary domestic space epitomized by mediascapes, workspaces and bodyspaces; d) a proposed reading of the interpretative keys on the basis of which the informational house is imagined and designed in relation to the stimuli of objects and spaces, flexibility, digital design and sustainability. The research argues the multidimensionality and complexity of contemporary domestic space steming from both the growing diversity of the actors involved in its production and the variety of factors that influence it. In the culture of dwelling, the role of technology is not univocal and involves all stages of the process of design, construction and use of domestic space. Focusing on advertising and specialized media, the research highlights the role played by images in the construction of a collective imagination of the domestic. In discussing changes in the functional environment, the research highlights how the domestic plays an important role in domestication of technologies. Finally, the research underscores the need for a reformulation of the idea of domestic space within the scope of considering dwelling as an art of becoming, more in keeping with the zeitgeist of the Information Society.

Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) / Foram desenvolvidos sete experimentos para determinar as rela??es metionina + cistina (M+C): lisina (Lis) digest?veis em ra??es de codornas de corte (Coturnix coturnix). Para os per?odos de crescimento (um a sete, oito a 14 e 15 a 21 dias de idade) as codornas foram criadas em lotes mistos, e receberam ra??o basal, contendo 0,76 g metionina + cistina digest?vel, suplementada com cinco n?veis de DL-Metionina, o que correspondeu ?s rela??es M+C: Lis digest?veis de 0,61; 0,66; 0,71; 0,76 e 0,81. Para os per?odos de termina??o (22 a 28 e 29 a 35 dias de idade), aves foram criadas em lotes sexados, e receberam ra??o basal, contendo 0,63 g metionina + cistina digest?vel, suplementada com cinco n?veis de DL-Metionina, o que correspondeu ?s rela??es M+C: Lis digest?veis de 0,68; 0,73; 0,78; 0,83 e 0,88. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com cinco tratamentos e oito repeti??es. Nos per?odos de um a sete e oito a 14 dias de idade observou-se efeito das rela??es M+C: Lis digest?veis para todas as vari?veis de desempenho, exceto para viabilidade das aves. Durante o per?odo de 15 a 21 dias, as crescentes rela??es M+C: Lis digest?veis influenciaram todas as vari?veis, exceto a uniformidade e viabilidade das codornas. N?o houve efeito das rela??es M+C: Lis digest?veis no per?odo de 22 a 28 dias, para as codornas machos, entretanto, para as f?meas observou-se efeito para consumo de ra??o e ganho em peso. No per?odo de 29 a 35 dias para os machos, observou-se efeito para o consumo de ra??o, consumo de metionina + cistina, ganho em peso, extrato et?reo da carca?a, rendimento de coxa+sobrecoxa, prote?na bruta da carca?a e balan?o de nitrog?nio. Seven experiments were conducted to determine the relations methionine and cystine (M+C): digestible lysine (Lys) in feed quails (Coturnix coturnix). For the growth periods (one to seven, eight to 14 and 15 to 21 days old) quails were created in mixed batches, and fed a basal diet containing 0.76 g methionine + cystine, supplemented with five levels of DL-Methionine, corresponding to the relations M+C: digestible Lys 0.61, 0.66, 0.71, 0.76 and 0.81. For final periods (22 to 28 and 29 to 35 days old), quails were created in sexed lots, and received basal diet containing 0.63 g methionine + cystine, supplemented with five levels of DL-Methionine, the corresponding to the relations M+C: digestible Lys 0.68, 0.73, 0.78, 0.83 and 0.88. The experimental design was completely randomized with five treatments and eight replicates. In periods of one to seven and eight to 14 days of old was observed effect of the relations M+C: digestible Lys for all performance traits, except for viability of quails. During the period of 15 to 21 days, the growth relations M+C: digestible Lys influenced all traits, except the uniformity and viability of quail. There was no effect of the relations M+C: digestibles Lys in the period 22 to 28 days for male quails, however, for females observed effect on feed intake and weight gain. In the period 29 to 35 days for males, there was effect for feed intake, methionine and cystine intake, weight gain, carcass ether extract, thigh + drumstick yield, carcass crude protein and nitrogen balance. However, for female quails 29 to 35 days of old, there was no effect on any of the traits studied in the face of relations M+C: digestible Lys. The relations M+C: digestibles Lys which optimized the weight gain were 0.81, 0.75 and 0.77 for periods of one to seven, eight to 14 and 15 to 21 days of old, respectively, for quail both sexes. During periods 22 to 28 and 29 to 35 day old females quails are recommended relations of 0.79 and 0.68, respectively, and for males quails are recommended relations of 0.68 and 0 88 M+C: digestible Lys.

Previous issue date: 2007-12-14 / Esta pesquisa tem como proposta compreender as várias queixas e inquietações de professores de séries iniciais na busca pela forma eficiente de elevar a capacidade dos alunos das classes populares a aprender a ler e a escrever. Ela se justifica pela ineficiência dos vários métodos de alfabetização, quando aplicados isoladamente, e pela necessidade de se entender a relação existente entre as práticas de letramento dos grupos familiares diretamente ligados às crianças alfabetizandas em uma escola de Santa Maria-DF e sua apropriação da escrita. Com esse objetivo foi feita uma observação participante com os pais e outros membros familiares, ligados às crianças de uma turma de seis anos com o fim de se conhecer o que ocorrem com esses alunos dentro e fora de sala de aula para entender suas dificuldades na tarefa de ler e escrever, bem como entender os fatos à luz dos estudos sociolingüísticos, lingüísticos, entre outros. Para tanto, foi realizado um estudo de caso do tipo etnográfico. A pesquisa mostrou que um trabalho construtivo em sala de aula ajuda a superarar o contato limitado com práticas letradas no ambiente familiar. __________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The purpose of this study is to understand the various complaints and concerns that teachers of early grades have in their quest for an effective way of enhancing the ability of their lower-class students to learn to read and write. It was motivated by the ineffectiveness,of the variety of methods for teaching reading and writing, when applied in isolation, and by the need to understand the relationship between the literacy practices of the families in direct contact with children who are being taught to read and write in a school in Santa Maria, Federal District, Brazil, and their actual learning. To this end, a participant observation was carried out with parents and other family members related to children of a class of six-year-olds in order to know what happens to these students inside and outside the classroom and to understand their difficulties in the task of reading and writing, as well as to understand these facts in the light of studies in linguistics and sociolinguistics, among others. An ethnographic case study was carried out for this purpose. The main finding of the study is that, irrespective of the little contact with literacy social practices in the social domain of their homes, these children make good progress in reading and writing as a result of the teacher’s efficient pedagogical action with literacy in the family.

para o apoio à aprendizagem da disciplina Medicina Legal e Deontologia
Médica na Universidade de Brasília e avaliar o padrão de utilização do mesmo
pela resolução dos testes on-line, facultativos e assíncronos. Os sujeitos foram
38 alunos que cursaram a disciplina no segundo período de 2005. O sistema
oferecia conteúdos textuais e imagens que podiam ser acessados
anonimamente. Para a resolução dos testes do tipo “Verdadeiro” ou “Falso”,
alguns com imagens, era necessário que os alunos se identificassem por
senha, o que permitiu o monitoramento. Os resultados mostraram que 32
alunos (84%) realizaram testes on-line, com uma média de 183 respostas por
aluno, dentre os que aderiram; 52% dos testes foram resolvidos nas últimas 24
horas antes da prova; 62,3% dos testes foram resolvidos entre 19h e 01h.
Conclui-se que os alunos, em um sistema facultativo, concentram seus
esforços na véspera da prova, o que diminui a eficiência do sistema, sugerindo
que técnicas de motivação para o uso regular desse tipo de sistema devem ser
implementadas. _____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The purpose of this descriptive prospective study was to develop a system to
support learning of the discipline Legal Medicine and Medical Professional
Ethics at the University of Brasilia and evaluate the pattern of use of the system
of on-line optional asynchronous exercises. The subjects were 38 students of
the discipline in the second term of 2005. The system offered textual content
and images that could be accessed anonymously. To solve the tests, of the
type "True" or "False", some with images, the students had to identify
themselves by means of a password, which allowed tracking. The results
showed that 32 students (84%) performed exercises online, with an average of
183 responses per pupil among those who joined, 52% of the exercises were
resolved in the last 24 hours before the test; 62.3% of the exercises were
resolved between 7p.m. and 1a.m. The conclusion was that the students in a
voluntary system, concentrated their efforts just before the evaluation, which
reduces the efficiency of the system, suggesting that techniques of motivation
for the regular use of systems such as this one must be implemented.

Previous issue date: 2008-03-26 / No sistema de Integração Lavoura Pecuária, o nitrogênio é o nutriente que mais limita o desenvolvimento, produtividade e biomassa da maioria das culturas. Sendo assim, é necessário desenvolver estratégias de manejo que contribuam para aumentar a eficiência de aproveitamento do nitrogênio. O objetivo do trabalho é avaliar, em condições de campo, as produtividades do milho cultivado sob pastagem de capim Braquiária com aplicação em pré-semeadura de níveis de nitrogênio. O trabalho foi desenvolvido na Fazenda Água Limpa da Universidade de Brasília, em um Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo Distrófico típico, utilizando a pastagem do capim Braquiária como cultura antecessora. Foram realizados a adubação corretiva de 1448 Kg ha-¹de Calcário dolomítico, 120 Kg ha-¹ de P2O5, 100 Kg ha-¹ de K2O. O nitrogênio, na forma de uréia, foi aplicado em sulcos feitos na pastagem com 5 níveis de nitrogênio em pré-semeadura do milho: 0; 30; 60; 90 e 120 Kg ha-1 de N. Após a aplicação dos níveis de N no capim foi feita a dessecação da parte aérea com herbicida de contato na dose de 3 litros por hectare. Na semeadura do milho acrescentou-se mais 30 Kg ha-1 de N perfazendo os níveis: 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 Kg de N ha-1 e a adubação de 120 Kg ha-¹ de P2O5, 100 Kg ha-¹ de K2O e 50 Kg ha-¹ de sulfato de zinco recomendada para o plantio da cultura do milho nos Cerrados. Os atributos analisados foram: massa seca do grão de milho a 13% de umidade; a massa seca da parte aérea do milho aos 90 dias após a semeadura; o teor de nitrogênio na folha do milho, o teor de nitrogênio no grão, o teor de clorofila nas folhas no momento da inflorescência com o auxilio do equipamento SPAD e a massa seca da parte aérea do capim Braquiária aos 45 dias após a aplicação das doses de N em pré-semeadura do milho. Os resultados obtidos tanto do milho como do capim Braquiária foram submetidos a analise de variância, aplicados o teste de significância e curvas de respostas. Na dose de 150 Kg ha-1de N aplicado antecipadamente proporcionou uma produção de 8 ton de massa de grãos a 13% de umidade, 10 t de massa seca da parte aérea, uma concentração de 3,2% de N nas folhas do milho e 0,8% de N no grão do milho. No capim Braquiária observou-se uma produção de 34 ton ha-1 na dose de 120 Kg ha-1de N. Os atributos avaliados mostraram que todos os resultados tiveram respostas lineares e significativas ao aumento das doses de N e observou-se, pelo teor de N nas folhas e na leitura do SPAD, que as planta de milho apresentaram estados normais de nutrição com a adubação antecipada. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Regarding the Crop Livestock integration system, nitrogen is the nutrient that most limits the development, productivity and biomass of most crops. Therefore, the development of management strategies which contribute to a higher efficiency of nitrogen are necessary. The objective of this study is to evaluate, under field conditions, within the Crop Livestock integration system, the corn productivity grown under pasture with application in pre-sowing with different levels of nitrogen.The work was developed at the University of Brasilia`s Farm, in a typical Dark Yellow Latosol, using the pasture of Braquiária grass as predecessor culture.A corrective fertilization was made using 1448 kg ha-¹ Limestone, 120 Kg ha-¹ P2O5, 100 kg ha-¹ of K2O and nitrogen was applied in the form of urea in grooves made in the pasture with 5 levels of nitrogen corn`s in pre-sowing: 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1 of N. After the application of the different levels of N, the drying of the aerial part was made with contact herbicide in the dose of 3 litres per hectare. In the corn sowing were added other 30 kg ha-1 of N, comprising the levels: 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 kg N ha-1 and fertilization of 120 Kg ha-¹ P2O5, 100 kg ha-¹ K2O, and 50 kg ha-¹ zinc sulfate, as recommended for the Cerrado. The attributes analyzed were: net weight of the corn grain under moisture of 13%, the net weight of the aerial part of the corn 90 days after sowing, the amount of nitrogen in the corn leaves, the amount of nitrogen in the grain, the amount of chlorophyll in the leaves at the time of inflorescence, measured with the SPAD equipment and net weight of the aerial part of Braquiaria grass 45 days after the application of the N in corn pre-sowing. The results of both the corn and the Braquiaria grass went through analysis of variance, test of significance and curves of answers. The dose of 150 kg ha-1 N applied beforehand provided a production of 8 tons net weight of grains at 13% moisture, 10 tons of net weight of aerial part, a concentration of 3.2% of N in the leaves of corn and 0.8% of N in corn grain. In braquiaria grass there was a production of 34 kg ha-1 at the dose of 120 kg ha-1 of N. The attributes evaluated showed that all results had significant and linear responses to the increase of N rates, and it was observed, by the content of N in the leaves and readings from SPAD, that the corn presented normal state of nutrition with the early fertilization.

Previous issue date: 2008-12 / O movimento social, cultural e econômico, impulsionado pelas tecnologias da comunicação e da informação, vivenciado por todos na sociedade do século XXI afeta profundamente nosso modo de pensar, atuar e agir. Assim a educação deve estar atenta a esse movimento, que promove a cultura digital, onde a informação está ao alcance de todos em qualquer lugar e a qualquer tempo através das redes de computadores. Neste contexto, instituições de ensino utilizam as redes de aprendizagem em seus processos educacionais, buscando nesta inovação ampliar suas fronteiras. As Escolas Agrotécnicas Federais de Educação Profissional e Tecnológica de Inconfidentes e de Machado, situadas no sul de Minas Gerais ainda não utilizam de forma regular e sistematizada as redes de aprendizagem em seus processos educacionais como suporte pedagógico ao ensino presencial, o que contraria a visão da necessidade de uma educação sintonizada e sincronizada com o desenvolvimento da sociedade deste século. A integração das redes de aprendizagem, que utilizam as ferramentas de comunicação da Internet para propósitos educacionais, como suporte aos processos de ensino presencial pode melhorar a qualidade do ensino se utilizadas de forma consciente, planejada, integrada e mediada pelo professor, como é amplamente discutido e referenciado por diversos autores como Assmann, Belloni, Costa, Harasim, Kensky, Levy, Moran, Pretto & Pinto, entre outros. Este estudo de caso múltiplo teve como objetivo entender o fenômeno da não adoção e/ou adoção lenta das redes de aprendizagem, a partir da investigação do caso dos professores das escolas de Inconfidentes e de Machado através de uma pesquisa qualitativa dividida em três procedimentos e instrumentos de pesquisa: análise documental, questionários e grupo focal. Verificou-se que raramente os professores utilizam as redes de aprendizagem como suporte ao ensino presencial; identificou-se que os professores percebem a Internet como uma fonte de consulta, uma ferramenta ágil de comunicação e não a visualizam como uma rede mundial de colaboração, cooperação e construção do conhecimento; diagnosticou-se que os professores encontram dificuldades na falta de conhecimento das potencialidades das redes e nas dificuldades de acesso a infra-estrutura existente nestas escolas. Conclui-se que a efetiva integração das redes de aprendizagem nas práticas pedagógicas destas instituições passa pelo gerenciamento eficiente da infra-estrutura tecnológica, pela formação dos professores para o uso das redes e pela discussão, socialização de experiências, e compartilhamento de informação e do conhecimento entre todos os docentes.

Thus, educators also have to be aware of the impact of the digital culture that brings information and communication to all places and times through computer networks. In this context, education institutions use learning networks searching for innovations to extend its reach. The Federal Agrotechnical Schools of Professional and Technological Education of Inconfidentes and Machado, situated in the south of Minas Gerais, have not yet used learning networks in their educational processes as a pedagogical support to face-to-face education on a regular and systematic basis. This situation seems to go against the dominant vision of education that is tuned and synchronized with the technological and educational developments of this century. The integration of learning networks in educational practices, particularly to support face-to-face education can improve the quality of teaching if used in a conscious, planned, and integrated format and mediated by the teacher, as is widely discussed and referenced by many authors as Assmann, Belloni, Costa, Harasim, Kensky, Levy, Moran, Pretto & Pinto, among others. This multiple case study research has the objective to understand the phenomenon of no-adoption or slow adoption of learning networks, and uses a case study to investigate the case of teachers in Schools Inconfidentes and Machado. It uses a qualitative research divided into three procedures: documentary analysis, questionnaires and focal group. It was found that very rarely professors use learning networks as support to face-to-face education; it was also found that professors perceive the Internet as a search source, an agile tool of communication and they do not visualize it as a medium to support cooperation and construction of knowledge. It was diagnosed that teachers encounter difficulties and lack the knowledge to access the existing infrastructure in these schools. One may conclude that the effective integration of learning networks in the teaching practices of these institutions, needs an efficient management of the technological infrastructure, more teacher education to use the net and to socialize experiences, and to share information and knowledge among participants.

Nas culturas ocidentais assentadas na lógica da internet, presenciam-se transformações do suporte, assim como da técnica de produção textual em linguagens (verbais e não verbais), contribuindo para uma gradual instauração de novas maneiras de ler. A internet passa a ser vista como a fonte de informação mais presente no dia a dia das pessoas. Pensar, neste meio, é pensar no sujeito navegador como sujeito leitor. Procurei compreender, neste trabalho, como os estudantes do ensino superior de Tecnologia buscam e leem informações encontradas na internet para a produção de trabalhos acadêmicos. Realizei uma pesquisa exploratória, tendo como instrumentos de coleta de dados questionários e entrevistas semiestruturadas. A pesquisa foi ancorada nos estudos de Bakhtin, Marcuschi, Chartier, Santaella, Lévy, Castells, Tamaél, Bajard, Foucambert. O projeto foi desenvolvido com estudantes do sexto período do Curso Superior de Tecnologia em Alimentos da Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná, Câmpus Medianeira. Os dados analisados revelaram não apenas mudanças ocorridas na maneira de efetuarem as pesquisas acadêmicas, como demonstraram seu comportamento reflexivo com relação aos conteúdos encontrados e extraídos da rede. Como, porém, navegadores possuem capacidades básicas no uso das tecnologias, foi possível notar, nesses estudantes, mudanças positivas em relação à leitura nos meios digitais. In the western cultures seat in the internet logic, the support transformations, as well the techniques of text production in languages (verbal and not verbal), contributing to a gradual establishment of new ways to read. The internet passes to be seen as an information source more present in the persons day to day. To think, in this mean, is to think of the navigator subject as the reader subject. I tried to understand, in this research, as the students of the Higher Education in Technology seek and read information found in the internet for the production of academic papers. I performed an exploratory research, having questionnaires and semistructured interviews as tools for data collection. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar as possibilidades de se recorrer ao cinema na educação, em razão de suas qualidades estéticas, mais especificamente em virtude da possibilidade de apropriação de determinadas obras cinematográficas por parte de professores, de modo a lhes proporcionar uma experiência qualitativa e reflexiva nos termos assinados por John Dewey. Para tal, abordaremos o cinema como parte de uma poética educacional que, indo além dos aspectos intelectuais, procura integrar os aspectos morais, éticos e estéticos do ser humano. Dessa perspectiva, por intermédio do método hermenêutico, analisaremos conceitualmente a estética, experiência qualitativa e pensamento reflexivo, tomando como referencial teórico a obra de Dewey. Concomitantemente, discutiremos a concepção de cinema estabelecendo relações com a análise do pensamento deweyano. Assim, verificaremos as potencialidades do cinema para alcançar uma experiência qualitativa e reflexiva sobre questões éticas. / Abstract: Cinema has been used in education, although in an instrumental way, as a didactic resource to reach a previously determined educational aim. This research will analyze the possibility of utilizing for education the esthetic qualities provided by cinema. Specifically, I will explore the possibility of teachers using selected films to provide to students a unique visual and auditory opportunity to observe and discuss a particular qualitative and reflective experience, along the lines recommended by Dewey. In order to accomplish this, I will discuss cinema as a component of the poetic of education, approaching the intellectual, moral, esthetical and ethical aspects of human beings. In that perspective, through the hermeneutic method, I will analyze and conceptualize esthetic, qualitative experience and reflective thought using Dewey as a reference. Using the last planner system and lean principles to improve workflow in BIM-based building design projectsKhan, Sheriz January 2017 (has links)
Several studies have found that traditional design planning to be unreliable and a cause of workflow variability during design development. The reason given for this is that traditional design planning lacks a mechanism to control workflow. Other studies have shown that the Last Planner system (LPS) of production planning and control reduces workflow variability during the construction stage of building projects by increasing planning reliability through greater collaboration in the planning of construction tasks and better coordination of work between the building trades. It is believed that LPS can also reduce workflow variability during the design stage by increasing planning reliability through greater collaboration in the planning of design tasks and better coordination of work between the design disciplines. In recent years, there has been a move toward collaborative and coordinated working practices in design firms, which has necessitated the formation of architectural/engineering (AE) firms, where all the design disciplines are involved in developing a design, aided by Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. It is believed that, as processes that promote collaboration and coordination, LPS and BIM can be combined to improve design workflow beyond the degree to which it might be improved by the application of either of these innovations independently. It has also been suggested that there are synergies between Lean and BIM that can be exploited during design development to remove waste, reduce workflow variability and thus improve design workflow. These theories need further testing. Using action research (AR) and working closely with thirty-three design practitioners, the researcher facilitated the implementation of LPS weekly work planning (LPS WWP) and the realization of lean principles through BIM during the design development phase of a seven-story hotel and a six-story apartment at two different AE firms in Florida. Implementation of LPS WWP focused on increasing planning reliability to reduce workflow variability. The realization of lean principles focused on reducing waste in the BIM process through greater collaboration and better coordination between the various design disciplines. A Lean/BIM interaction matrix developed by Sacks et al. (2009) was used as a framework for exploring positive interactions between twenty-four lean principles and seven BIM functionalities. Percent Plan Complete (PPC) measurements taken before and after the implementation of LPS WWP suggest that LPS WWP was effective in improving workflow in both design projects: PPC increased by an average of 12.1% in the hotel project and by an average of 13.9% in the apartment project after LPS weekly work planning was implemented, representing an upward trend in PPC and continual improvement in design workflow. Eight lean principles were realized through the seven BIM functionalities used in both design projects, resulting in thirty-three discernible positive interactions in the hotel project and twenty-nine discernible positive interactions in the apartment project and contributing to the overall improvement in design workflow. This research has demonstrated that LPS WWP can reduce design workflow variability by increasing design planning reliability and that lean principles can be realized through greater collaboration and better coordination between the various design disciplines during the BIM process to reduce waste and improve design workflow during design development. It recommends that future implementation of LPS in design projects should consider LPS at the WWP level only and during the design development phase only. It also recommends that BIM should be used during design development as a design tool and not just as a visualization tool so its lean potential can be fully exploited. Further research is suggested for identifying and addressing causes of variability in design workflow other than poor design planning.
