Analysis of Security Risks in Mobile Payments : A Case Study Using DNAT

Ba, Jing January 2013 (has links)
Technology development always makes the life easier and faster thus it also impacts the way we do business in our lives. As the widespread usage of mobile devices in recent years mobile technology has created an environment in which people around the world are getting closer. Recently the popularity of personal mobile devices like Ipad and Iphone leads to the appearance of opportunities to improve payments more fast and efficient. And for the past years various services and applications for mobile payment have been developed by the companies which are eager for the leader positions in the new market. With the development of mobile payment and the important relationship between payment and our lives, a lot of security risks associated with this field should be extensively studied. This thesis aims to analyze the security risks related to the mobile payment. This thesis uses an explorative method to research the stakeholders, critical assets and vulnerabilities within mobile payment by utilizing case studies of Square and Google Wallet. The information gathered from the case studies and security analysis is further analyzed by the dynamic network analysis tool (ORA) in order to discover the security risks. The results of this thesis indicate that accounts and business data are the most critical assets in mobile payment because accounts are the foundation to perform payment transactions. Further, the mobile payment service provider, merchant and consumer are the stakeholders affected most by the security risks. And this thesis concludes that all the stakeholders should be aware of the security risks within the mobile payment environment, and further if service and device providers want to keep continuous business they should make more effort to cooperate with each other to protect the users against these risks.

Benford’s Law: Analysis of the trustworthiness of COVID-19 reporting in the context of different political regimes

Burlac, Leonid, Giannakis, Nikolaos January 2021 (has links)
In order for governments and demographers to, among other things, design policies and pensionplans, as well as for insurance companies to offer policies that serve general public, having reliable mortality data plays a crucial role. The academic world works actively in developing tools (models and methods) that can, based on collected mortality data, forecast future death rates in the observed population. Obviously, to be able to rely on the predicated data one needs a reliable source of existing mortality data. In the light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, reliability of certain death-case reporting has been questioned. In this thesis, the Benford’s Law is used to evaluate how well countries with authoritarian regimes (Azerbaijan, Belarus),and with democratic regimes (Greece, Serbia, Sweden), report their COVID-19 cases to theworldwide public. Statistical tests such as the Chi-squared test, mean absolute deviation, and the distribution distance were used to obtain the results needed to form our conclusions. During our testing, we found that countries with democratic regimes do conform better to the Benford’s law than the authoritarian ones.

“Trapped” in a new future: Case of Athens, Greece : Social and spatial segregation of the municipality of Athens andpossible solutions

Cerednicenco, Aliona January 2020 (has links)
The mass displacement of people is a global phenomenon, inherent in human nature and the needfor survival. Over the last 30 years, Greece became a destination country for differentpopulations. Although the last wave of displacement people, starting from 2015, found Greece inan unstable economic situation due to the economic crisis. Since 2015, Greece has been facingthe two types of crises: economic and refugee. The refugee crisis found Greece, like many otherEU countries, unprepared for the number of people that they received. As well, for Greece therefugee crisis can be viewed as a crisis of legitimacy and strategies.During the last five years, Greece made significant steps in the regulation of the refugeesituation, especially after the EU-Turkey agreement in March 2016, when Greece officiallybecame a country of destination from a transit country. However, the laws and ministerialdecisions instead of decreasing the residential segregation led to an increase of socialsegregation. This paradox can be observed in the case of the Athenian municipality. This paradox defined the starting point of this thesis and aimed for the investigation of spatialand social segregation in the center of Athens. To study this theme qualitative data werecollected for analysis, including, semi-structured interviews, analysis of official documents, andobservation. The funding of this thesis illustrates that Greece never lost its status as a transit country. And thatthe biggest challenge that Athenian municipality is facing is the integration of refugees in Greeksociety. The undeveloped integration section shows significant distancing between Greeks andrefugees.

Generation of Random Numbers

Eberhard, Keith H. 01 May 1969 (has links)
Subroutines are written to generate random numbers on the computer. Depending on the subroutine used, the generated random numbers follow the uniform, binomial, normal, chi-square, t, F, or gamma distribution. Each subroutine is tested using the chi-square goodness of fit test to verify that the random numbers generated by each subroutine follow the statistical distribution for which it is written. The interpretation of the test results indicates that each subroutine generates random numbers which closely approximates the theoretical distribution for which it is designed. The approach used in the subroutine which generates gamma distributed random numbers involves the use of numerical integration, whereas simpler techniques are used in all the other subroutines. Each subroutine is documented with a description of how to use it and an explanation of the methods used to obtain the random numbers which it is designed to generate. (77 pages)

Společensko-kulturní centrum s radnicí v Kohoutovicích / Socio-cultural centre with townhall for the district Brno-Kohoutovice

Matyášová, Jana January 2016 (has links)
Design of a new town hall for the part of city Brno - Kohoutovice helps to create a functioning public space. City Hall is open to its mass and the square through the passage on the first floor does not preclude views in Kohoutovice valley. Socio - cultural hall is the second mass and utilizes existing building of Albert. The area of public space is fleshed out with new masses into more intimate and more graspable form, there is a better public space, the center of the district.

Společensko-kulturní centrum s radnicí v Kohoutovicích / Socio-cultural centre with townhall for the district Brno-Kohoutovice

Ľuptáková, Lenka January 2016 (has links)
The building of the town hall Brno Kohoutovice is situated on the site next to the local hospital. Currently, there is a widespread paved area, which has become the place for markets and other cultural activities. Town hall completed urban structure, built on the most visible plot, and closes the plaza on the east side. From the south, the square is open to Kohoutovická valley. It is closed and opened at the same time by a colonnade. Functional composition is expressed in both - size and material. On a solid concrete base, which holds cultural and social events, lie two light steel boxes dedicated to the town hall. The middle part is cantilivered into the square, which symbolizes the proximity of town hall offices to the citizens. It is dedicated to the departements, which are in daily contact with the public. The upper part with large terrace has representative function. There are the internal departements and a ceremonial hall.

Čekyně, místní část města Přerova / Cekyne, district of Prerov

Hlavičková, Alžběta January 2016 (has links)
The village of Cekyne is officially registered as a district of the city of Prerov. Village centre consists of the square which is the oldest part of the village. This work is mainly focused on revitalization of the square. It contains small urban interventions like lamps, bus stop, greenery and one major architectural element - community housing for seniors. Until early 1980’s, there’re country houses surrounding the square from all sides. Since then, there’s been a self-service shop which disrupts the rural character of the village. Today the shop is closed and the building, where the shop sited, is deteriorating. The condition of this building and disturbed appearance of the square were the main reasons why I decided to bring a new life to the village centre through the community house for seniors. The concept of the community house is based on typical country houses which had formed the village square in the past. The community house is intended for active old generation as well as people who need professional care. Neighborly ties are the mainstay of this community housing.

Dostál, Jan January 2018 (has links)
Controlled deformation. Under with conditions can the iron deformation process be affected? This work is focused on expanding steel profiles. Using various tests, I will confront the visual results with the technical possibilities of the material. Attempting to find a boundary that is still permissible in terms of maximum steel loading just before the material starts to fail. The resulting installation should show the enormous forces needed to distort the material, where the viewer will be directly confront with the process.

Hevlín – sídlo v krajině / Hevlín – place in the landscape

Javůrková, Terezie Unknown Date (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the urban structures of Hevlín, solves mainly the area of the current centre and the specific design of housing for the elderly and the medical house. After the bombardment of Hevlín at the end of World War II, an empty space was created in the urban structure, which became a square. However, its scale does not correspond to the urbanism of Hevlín, nor to the scale of human. A large space belongs to transport, parking and greenery, not to people. The aim of the work is to create a conceptual design of public spaces in the current centre of Hevlín. The aim of more detaild design of housing for the elderly and the medical house try tu interpret the attributes of a village house and at the same time reflect the current need of living.
