TransitionsMagas-Zamaria, Daria January 2008 (has links)
Transitions is a three part series, examining themes which define our human condition. Utilizing traditional, digital, and interactive media, including sound, video, clay, paper, polyvoile material, and electronic devices, I create responsive installation environments that allow me to share my personal stories with those of the viewers. Collaboratively and co-creatively we examine issues of existence, self-awareness, and embodied spatiality within an arena that incorporates stories, memories and histories. As the viewer engages and participates in the work, they become the conduit between the brief moments of the present and the fragmented illusory images of the past.

Otevřenost českých tradičních medií vůči neuživatelům Internetu / The issue of openness of the Czech traditional media towards Internet non-usersMacek, Oskar January 2015 (has links)
This paper deals theoretically and empirically with the issue of traditional media openness towards Internet non-users and its perception among non-users themselves. The theoretical part of the work outlines the problem of inequality in the information society and how specific content of messages in selected traditional media can contribute to these inegualities. The second part examines through a pilot content analysis the nature of the media content in the traditional Czech mass media with regard to the possibility of interaction and participation with the media and the usage of links to the digital content. On this basis, semi-structured interviews examine perception and reflection of such phenomena on a selected group of elderly non-users. The conclusion of this work consists of the introduction of the scheme of factors influencing the extent of perceived discrimination among non-users of the Internet in relation to traditional mass media.

Tradiční média a boj s tzv. fake news na příkladu BBC, ARD a Rádia Svobodná Evropa / Traditional media and its battle against fake news: the case of BBC, ARD and Radio Free EuropeČáslavská, Veronika January 2019 (has links)
This thesis examines how traditional media could reinforce its position as a reliable source of information, overcoming the huge amount of misinformation in public space. First, the thesis analyzes the concept of fake news, examining different concepts of this expression across American and Anglo-Saxon environments. In the following chapters, the thesis presents a link between trust in media and the spread of fake news, outlines psychological factors that allow for fake news to be spread easily and highlights the role of media literacy. Next chapters list the specific ways in which traditional media can fight against fake news, for example through slow journalism or factual verification. That is how the thesis gets to the three analyzed fact-checking departments, which were established as a part of foreign traditional media: ARD Faktenfinder, BBC Reality Check and RFE / RL / VOA Polygraph.info. These departments were founded between 2015 and 2017 and perceive verification of information as an independent journalistic output. Using semi-structured interviews, the thesis examines how these departments work, how they define fake news, what are their future plans or whether they actively contribute to the development of media literacy. Comparative analysis has shown that none of the departments has...

Relationship Communication and Traditional and Consumer Generated MediaMamalyha, Oleksandr, Yin, Zhe January 2012 (has links)
Executive summary Purpose: Current research [1] compared the differences in terms of perception of trustworthiness and emotional appeal of traditional and consumer generated marketing media and [2] evaluated the correlation between factors of the recently developed relationship communication framework (Finne & Grönroos, 2009) with the perception of a marketing action by actual customers of a firm, to see whether these factors should be considered in firm’s marketing communication strategy. Additionally, the researchers compared the correlations between traditional and consumer generated media types to the relationship communication factors, effectively combining the two researched subjects. Design and execution: The research utilized quantitative research approach relying on simple random sampling technique within fitness and recreational settings. Findings/Implications: Data analysis confirmed that there is a consistent difference between traditional and consumer generated media in terms of perception of trustworthiness and partial and not consistent difference in terms of emotional appeal. Mild correlation between consumer unique factors of relationship communication framework (Finne & Grönroos, 2009) and perception of the marketing action have been confirmed, with these correlations remaining consistent between traditional and consumer generated media. The findings suggest that traditional and consumer generated media have varying impacts on consumer’s perception of marketing action and that incorporating consumer unique factors of relationship communication framework (Finne & Grönroos, 2009) in marketing communication strategy may benefit the firm in relationship building and integrated marketing communication.

Tinklaraščių ir tradicinės žiniasklaidos santykis Lietuvoje: iššūkiai ir galimybės / The relationship between blogs and traditional media in Lithuania: challenges and possibilitiesMikalčiūtė, Raimonda 05 August 2009 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / In this paper the relationship between the Lithuanian mass media and blogosphere is under the scope. The object of the paper is blogs written by the media at the institutional level and published by journalists independently. The aim of this work is to reveal how, to what extent, and for what purposes professional journalists use the new means of communications, blogs.
At the beginning of the work the following hypotheses have been raised: Lithuanian journalists tend to use blogs as a means of self-expression rather than for professional reasons; and that blogs that form part of the structure of Lithuania’s mass media have additional value to the media content by providing more diverse information.
The first part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of scientific literature of Lithuanian and foreign authors, as well as of publications published by the media and in the blogosphere and of the material presented at the Lithuanian bloggers conference. After the analysis of the literature and other sources, the situation of the blogosphere in Lithuania and the world in general has been defined.
In the second part of the work the course of the qualitative research and its results are introduced. The method chosen to carry out the research is the interview with journalists and bloggers who are the participants of the Lithuanian blogosphere.
The third part of the paper is devoted to the presentation of the findings of the content analysis of blogs written by journalists and... [to full text]

Mediální spotřeba nových a tradičních médií u českých studentů / Media consumption of new and traditional media among Czech studentsČentíš, Jan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis discusses the issue of media consumption among university and high school students in the Czech Republic. Following a foreign study, regressive models extended by new variable quantities are applied to a sample of 490 students, the influence on media consumption of which has never been quantified in the Czech realm. The important conclusion of this paper is the identification of different consumer habits among the analyzed group of students. The age of the student plays a significant role, as it has been proven that as a student ages, he or she spends more time using media. The age factor is also considerable in the selection of individual media, as traditional media and internet news servers are mostly preferred among older students.During the prediction of consumption, a substantial influence was identified among the newly applied variables, such as the ownership of electronic devices, the subscription to daily press, or even the situation when a student lives in a common household with their parents. On the other hand, there was no significant influence found with regard to either students'or their parents' income, or the students' working status. Additionally, contingent on the analysis, the relation between traditional and new media was examined.Based on the obtained results, we support the assertion that according to students the relation between these two media types is competitive, as far as consumption is concerned.

On blogs in the catalogue : A study of public librarians attitude towards including blogs in the library catalogue / Om bloggar i katalogen : En studie om folkbibliotekariers inställning gentemot inkludering av bloggar i bibliotekskatalogenAckerfors, Martin January 2016 (has links)

Alternative vs. Traditional News: A Content Analysis of News Coverage of the 10th Anniversary of Sept. 11Barber, Rex E., Dunn, Robert Andrew, Marshall, Stephen W. 01 December 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This research sought to understand the differences in framing used by alternative media outlets and traditional or mainstream media outlets. Researchers used a sampling of articles about the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from alternative media publications and traditional media publications to conduct this study. Computer software analyzed these articles to determine themes and concepts within both data sets. The analysis revealed traditional media was less varied in themes than was alternative media, with the latter clearly showing an effort to be analytical of different aspects surrounding the Sept. 11 attacks. Traditional media largely provided routine coverage of commemorative services and very little critical analysis.
