Planering och genomförande i logistikoperationer : En teoriprövande fallstudie om förnödenhetsförsörjningens påverkan på utfallet av operation BarbarossaPårup, Matilda January 2023 (has links)
Studies about logistics operations are rare to find and those that exist lack theoretical depth. The literature does not agree whether planning for a logistics operation or the actual implementation of it is more important, why this study addresses this matter. The aim of this study is to contribute with an explanation of how logistics affected the outcome in Operation Barbarossa and to verify Kress’ theory about Operational logistics. This is done by a case study comparing the Soviet and the German supply and support system during Operation Barbarossa based on principles of logistics that need to be present for the logistic operation to be planned and implemented with success. Even though both nations had a poor supply and support system, the system of the Red army was more applicable to the principles of the theory and the operation ended up being a Soviet victory. This meets the aim of the study to verify the theory. The results indicate that planning and preparing a logistics operation is a prerequisite for a successful implementation that is a prerequisite for success in a military operation. In addition to the existing theory, it is also dependent on the capabilities of the enemy, hence it’s enough to have a logistics system superior to that of the enemy.

Proměna obrazu Sovětského svazu v protektorátním denním tisku na příkladu srovnání dobových mediálních obsahů z přelomu srpna a září 1939 a přelomu června a července 1941 / How changed the image of the Soviet Union in the protectorate daily press-comparison of the contemporary media contents in august-september 1939 and june-juli 1941Veselá, Lenka January 2011 (has links)
Diploma thesis "Change of the Soviet Union image in the protectorate press based on comparison of the media content from the turn of August/September 1939 and June/July 1941" deals with the manner in which the protectorate newspapers informed about the Ribbentop-Molotov Pact and later about the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The examples of these events and their reflection in the Protectorate press demonstrate how flexibly the protectorate propaganda responded to the current political line. For the purposes of the thesis, there have been selected three newspapers: Polední list, Večerní České Slovo and Venkov. These periodicals were examined in two time-bound periods, from 23rd August till 27th September 1939 and from 16th June till 14th July 1941. The methodology used is a historical comparative analysis, which discusses the transformation of Protectorate propaganda attitudes in the dependence on the historical context, and semiotic analysis, which deals with period media discourse and reveals ideology sustained on the level of sign systems.

Fredens ö i krigets hav : En pressundersökning av Växjö tidningars ledare om andra världskrigets konflikter i Norden / The Island of Peace in the Sea of War : A newspaper study of Växjö city’s newspaper editorials regarding the conflicts of the Second World War in the Nordic countriesGustafsson, Joel, Söderqvist, Niclas January 2015 (has links)
ABSTRACT Gustafsson, J. & Söderqvist, N., “’The Island of Peace in the Sea of War’ A newspaper study of Växjö city’s newspaper editorials regarding the conflicts of the Second World War in the Nordic countries”, Linnaeus University. A qualitative textual analysis delving into three local newspapers from Växjö city is in many ways the essence of this study. The main purpose of this study is to examine three key conflicts, the Winter War, Operation Weserübung and the Continuation War. Each conflict has been assessed in relation to the opinions advocated in the editorials of the three politically diverse newspapers. The theoretical basis for this study is founded on similar analysis made by Nybom, Johansson and Åmark who all have contributed to the content of this particular essay. Most of all, Nyboms categorization of the so-called realism and idealism have helped us in understanding the motives and plans of action concerning the nations involved in the selected conflicts. There are several interesting conclusions in this study, in particular the newspapers’ view on main antagonists such as the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, as well as the Allies.

Försörjning under anfall och försvarGustafsson, Marcus January 2021 (has links)
Research question - Which conditions are unique, regardless of time and space, for; supplying units in the defense of one's own territory, and supplying units in an invasion of another nation's territory? Purpose – This study aims to increase the understanding of the differences in logistical conditions for strategic supply, and to contribute to the relatively poorly explored research field of military logistics. Design/methodology/approach – To answer the research question, the author conducted a structured, focused comparative study on three conflicts; The Finnish War, 1808-1809, Operation Barbarossa, 1941, Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003. Findings – None of the defending sides were properly prepared. The defenders lost resources to the attackers. The defender controlled the territory before the conflict, and had the opportunity to affect and prepare it. All attackers could choose time and theater of war. All attackers’ units were cut off from their supply source due to weather or climate situation. The attackers had the opportunity to obtain resources from the defenders. The distance between the attackers’ units and their rear supply source increased as the offensive continues. Originality/value – This is the first study that attempts to identify general differences between supplying the defending and the attacking side during an invasion.
