Johansson Öhman, Steffi January 2015 (has links)
The relevance of the Swedish alcohol monopoly has been widely debated for years in Sweden. In 2015 Systembolaget celebrates 60 years as the only actor on the alcohol market. To celebrate this, Systembolaget launched a campaign where the commercial The Expert is included, in which contrasts between the Swedish and the American ways to sell alcohol is addressed. In my essay I’m examining the commercial through a narrative analysis to find out how Systembolagets self image is created. In particular, how the narrative works in order to create this self image. Rhetorical agency is a way for me to reach my conclusion. Through my narrative analysis and the use of the rhetorical situation as well as rhetorical agency, I reach the conclusion that Systembolagets (self constructed) self image is a positive one where Systembolaget is to be viewed as experts in their area, in contrast to the American “expert” who is ridiculed. Systembolaget is portrayed as a responsible actor with sole rights and the implicit argumentation suggests they wish to maintain that position in Sweden.

Perron, Kim January 2010 (has links)

Gosselin Rodière, Simon January 2013 (has links)

Zero shades of green? : a qualitative study about individuals’ responses to green exposure on social media

Palma Pereyra, Silvana Alessandra, Sandberg, Chasmine January 2016 (has links)
The use of social media has increased the need of interactivity and information sharing. Individuals are sharing thoughts about different issues. Today, environmental issues have become an everyday matter for many. This matter is manifested through opinion leaders and their blogs or accounts. These opinion leaders possess an incredible power to influence others, which they in many cases take advantage of to inform their readers about topics that matters. This thesis will study how individuals respond to opinion leaders’ publications of green product exposure on social media. The purpose is to deepen the understanding and analyze possible influences related to the individuals’ responses. Green consumption habits are being highlighted as important and green products are exposed through many opinion leaders’ profiles on social media, since they often have an influence on individuals purchasing decisions. To investigate consumer responses on social media a qualitative study has been implemented. This has been done through observations and the construction of a focus group with the aim to strengthen the observational results. The results have mainly showed that individuals often respond positively to opinion leaders’ posts of green products, but their positive responses are related to the opinion leader rather than highlighting the green attributes. These results have been discussed to arisen from the individuals strive to identify themselves with opinion leaders. Furthermore, additional theory has been used to analyze the comments and explain possible influences. The conclusion of this thesis includes proposals for future research related to this topic.

Economics, political values and historic legacy : Determinants of public support for EU membership and European integration in post-communist Europe

Peldán Carlsson, Gustav January 2016 (has links)
This study examines the explanatory power of the traditional explanations as to what determines public support for EU membership and European integration – the economic explanation and the political values‐based explanation – in the context of the post-communist member states of the EU. Further, an alternative explanation – the communist legacy explanation – is presented and tested. It is hypothesized that a high degree of Soviet influence and suppression during the communist period leads to a low degree of support for EU membership and European integration, because of a willingness to protect oneself from violation of national sovereignty once again. The explanatory power of the traditional explanations does not obtain convincing empirical support, even if many individual predictors are statistically significant as determinants. Communist legacy seems to be important as a determinant of public support for EU membership and European integration. However, the hypothesis can neither be accepted nor rejected, because of the methodological problems associated with the dummy variable approach used in order to test it. Further, the direction of the relationship between communist legacy and public support for EU membership and European integration seems to be two‐fold, rather than one-sided as hypothesized.

Evaluating information and opinion building : A Minor Field Study of how to perform an efficient evaluation of the information and opinion building that Svalorna does in Nicaragua

Röstlund, Malina January 2007 (has links)

Abstract

This is a case study on how to perform an efficient evaluation of the information and opinion building that the aid organization Svalorna Latin America does in Nicaragua. The main purpose of the study is to find a methodology on how to work with evaluations of information and opinion building in the future. Svalorna LA works to empower the people, through information and opinion building, and achieve sustainable development. The method I used is semi-structured interviews in combination with literature review about the topic to create a base for my questions.

I used the Johari window to analyze Svalorna with the information that had come up during the interviews. For example, Svalorna in Sweden has one understanding of how the perception of the organization is. Svalorna in Nicaragua has another and the cooperating organizations a third perception. There were also a lot of different opinions about the purpose of an evaluation.

The main purpose of evaluation, to constantly develop the program and thereby strengthen the cooperating organizations, should furthermore guide the choice of methodology for evaluation. This should be a consistent methodology with an amount of specific methods of which one is to be chosen depending on if it is an activity, effort or goal that need to be evaluated. These specific methods should be the same every time.

I do believe that Svalorna’s work in Nicaragua contributes to a sustainable development but as I will show in my thesis I found several recommendations for them to work more efficiently.
/
