Trabalho e cultura em agências de publicidade do Brasil: novas perspectivas / Work and culture in advertising agencies in Brazil analyzed from the perspective of organizational sustainability

Oliveira, Daniela Ferreira de 04 November 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate the work and culture in Brazilian advertising agencies, from the perspective of organizational sustainability. This perspective recommends that companies consider their employees as an important public with which they must maintain ethical, fair and transparent relations. Besides, advertising agencies, which are the corpus of this research, present organizational and labor vices, which were observed during nine years of experience as a researcher in the Brazilian advertising market. The main questions arising from this previous participant observation revolve around the factors that lead, influence, maintain or legitimize such vices. More specifically, it focuses on is the big advertising agencies known as \"crystals\" of the advertising market - in sales, customers, awards etc. - It appears that they serve as an example to other agencies - small and medium - as well as companies in other sectors of the Brazilian advertising industry, as producers and suppliers. Regardless of the variety influences that weave the social reality of working in large agencies, refers to the interdisciplinary approach to get the composition of the theoretical framework that considers the contributions of the communication studies, organizational culture and sustainability; as the historical sociology, anthropology, psychology of work and anthropological management. Thus, there is the complex paradigm shown in this scientific study. To fulfill the objective of research, it is through the identification and analysis of cultural nuances and organizational practices and professionals in advertising agencies, from exploratory social survey conducted in São Paulo between May 2012 and May 2014, with visits to six major agencies, to the Advertisers Union of São Paulo and has 36 participants from different profiles and positions. The plurality of sampling consists of two criteria: progressive inclusion and randomness. Participants contribute in-depth interviews unstructured and semi-structured questionnaire and fill in Likert scales, technical and selected instrument to achieve the objective of the research. From the correlation between inventory aspects of culture and work in large agencies, it is possible to perform analyzes that reveal how is the work ethos of the national advertising production. Many aspects analyzed diverge from the notion of organizational sustainability. In this context, the primary role of organizational communication is discussed: how to capture and to interpret dissonant aspects of sustainable principles, to enable managers making decisions directed to a cultural (re)weave that considers work as a sustainable value

Because social media is a new phenomenon the thesis also examined how organizations active in Sweden today looks upon, defines, monitoring what is said about them and uses social media today.Method: The thesis was based upon the qualitative gathering of empirical facts. Through deep interviews with five organizations and literature studies the author was able to gather the results.Theories The analysis is primarily based upon theories about organizational communications such as PR, Rogers’s diffusions of innovations and the marketing mix. But the study also includes theories digital communication and the different views upon communications.Main results: Through my thesis I was able to find out that the organizations look upon social media the same way as many PR consultants and practitioners do. Their mutual viewpoint is that social media is a consumer generated media and a platform for dialogue. This led me to the conclusion that an academic definition should be able to be drawn as well. The way the organizations defines social media differs from how they use it in their communication. All the contributory organizations use social media mainly for PR and marketing purposes and not for conversations with their surroundings. All but one organization have some kind of contemporary social and environmental analysis that includes social media. The thesis shows that there are many challenges that organizations have to face when deciding to start communicating through social media. The biggest challenge is to decide to what degree the organization is willing to have a rewarding and mutual dialogue or just want to use the media to reach new target audience. Keywords: Social media, sociala medier, web 2.0, Organisationskommunikation,Organizational Communications, omvärldsbevakning,</p>

Based on the notion that all behavior has communicative value, and that the individual acts as he think, it was necessary to know this subject. The study included a qualitative and quantitative research (word association and questionnaires). Was identified that the social representation of public employees is based on the historical origin of stability, modernly mistaken, causing the communication doesn’t makes sense for a large part of public employees.

Med örat mot jorden : Att kommunicera arkeologi och arkeologisk forskning / With an ear to the ground : To communicate archeology and archaeological research

Sköld, Jenny January 2016 (has links)
The archaeological communication process can be hard to grasp. There are laws to take into consideration, not to mention the Government structure for culture and arts. This essay explains and simplifies the Swedish organizational communication with focus on archaeology. This study is aiming to clarify all the steps archaeological research needs to pass before reaching the public. The essay will also explore why it is important to communicate archaeological results, and if it reaches out to the extent that is expected. If it is not, the study will present examples of solutions and actions that can be taken to improve the mediation. The essay only investigates the archaeology process in Sweden. There are several Government institutions that are affected by the laws that protect ancient monuments, this study will at first hand observe the ones that have a direct effect on the archaeology communication process. By a survey, interviews and literature studies, the purpose with this study has become clear. The results have been reached by positivism and empiricism as theoretical basis. The literature consisted largely of writings on the subject communication theory, Swedish law and Government structure. The conclusion is that in the archaeology process, there are many factors that effects the outcome of archaeological mediation. Laws, “cultural goals” and several Government institutions has a saying in how, why and where the archaeological research findings are distributed. The PR-model chosen by Government institutions is often “The Public Information model”, but in this case there is no specific common model used by all the institutions that have an influence on the distribution of archaeological results. There is no survey done to show how the public are receiving the results given by “The Public Information model”. According to a small survey done to complete this essay there would be much to gain for all parts if the results of archaeological investigations used another model, or if the stakeholders could agree on the issue of how archaeological results should be communicated to the population. A factor that complicates this kind of work is the attitude in the governing body that considers culture (including archaeology) a non-commercial subject. As a result, archaeology is not seen as a brand that could be marketed. A factor that can affect the popularity for the subject.

Relationship of organizational communication methods and leaders' perceptions of the 2002 Farm Bill: a study of selected commodity-specific, general agricultural, and natural resources organizations

Catchings, Christa Leigh 01 November 2005 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine perceptions of organizational communication methods used by selected commodity-specific, general agricultural and, conservation or natural resources organizations to disseminate information about the Farm Security and Rural Investment (FSRI) Act of 2002 within their organizations. A secondary purpose was to evaluate if preferred organizational communication methods related to organization leaders?? perceptions of the FSRI Act of 2002. Previous studies have assessed organizational communication methods and members?? perceptions, but little research has been completed on the combination of these variables. The instrument used in this study was derived from modified versions of Sulak??s (2000) 1996 Farm Bill survey, a similar instrument by Catchings and Wingenbach (2003), and Franklin??s (1975) organizational communication survey. The target population (N=300) was all selected Texas organizations?? board members. The accessible population (n=160) were selected Texas organizations (commodity-specific, general agriculture, and conservation or natural resources) board members. There were 70 respondents with a response rate of 44%. iv The respondents from this study were mostly board members from a commodity-specific organization and were 46 to 55 years old. They had attended college or completed an undergraduate degree, were raised on a rural farm or ranch, and currently live on rural farm or ranch. The respondents from selected Texas organizations indicated that they had some knowledge about 17 of the 18 primary issues or programs in the 2002 Farm Bill. Selected Texas organizations board members strongly agreed that their respective organizations wanted to meet their primary objectives and information about important events or situations were shared within their organizations. The respondents strongly agreed with the statement ??farm organization coalitions were essential for enacting the 2002 Farm Bill,?? and ??farm organizations strongly influenced the 2002 Farm Bill.?? This study summated and correlated the perceptions of organizational communication methods and perceptions of influencers affecting the outcome of the 2002 Farm Bill. Through that correlation, this study can conclude there was a moderately significant and positive relationship between perceived organizational communication methods and perceived levels of influencers affecting the outcome of the 2002 Farm Bill.
