Pirátské strany jako liberální strany? / Pirate parties as liberal parties?Kudrna, Pavel January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis aims to confirm whether Pirate parties are liberal and left-libertarian parties and that they are similar to green parties in this way. After 2006 Pirate parties emerged gradually as a new alternative to manage the politics and democracy in Western democracies. Pirates came up with themes such as the fight against copyright or the protection of individuals within the internet. In the first theoretical part of this thesis both liberalism and left-libertarianism as well as Green parties are discussed. The second empirical part deals with Pirate parties. First, their origin and development are described and, with an emphasis on Swedish, German, Icelandic and the Czech Pirate Party - because of their relevance associated with electoral successes -, basic elements of their programmes are introduced. Based on those findings the analysis confronting the elements of liberalism and left-libertarianism with programmes of Pirate parties is performed in the final section of the thesis. The hypothesis that Pirate parties are predominantly left-libertarian parties is proved. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Ainda há esperança na política? : a web e a formação do Partido Pirata do BrasilVieira, Anamaria Modesto January 2015 (has links)
In representative democracies, voting and political representation are the foundation upon which the relationship between society and its representatives in the spheres of power is established. In such times of mistrust and questioning of political representation, this dissertation presents the creation of a new political party that uses the technologies of communication and information to foster new political practices. The Pirate Party comes up at Sweden in 2006 proposing to make the sharing of knowledge and culture its political claims at the institutional sphere of power, the Parliament. During the past nine years of history, this young party and its claims spread throughout the world and are present in more than 60 countries taking into account registered parties and movements to official recognition and registration of the political party. They arrived to Brazil in 2007 and since then has brought up a movement for institutional recognition through party registration, which will allow the participants to contest elections in the country. This process is still ongoing. The present work is concerned to show the proposals and the challenges of this political movement leaded by the young networked citizen seeking to "hack" the institutional policy.

Striden mot piraterna : De svenska riksdagspartiernas bemöande av PiratpartietBengtsson, Anders January 2011 (has links)
This essay examines the strategies adopted by the Swedish parliamentary parties against the Pirate Party (Piratpartiet). The study uses the PSO-theory, which attempt to explain the success of niche parties as a consequence of the established parties’ strategies against the new competitor. A qualitative analysis and a comparison of the parties’ manifestos from the 2002, 2006 and 2010 national elections is used to determine which strategies are adopted. Results show that a mixture of accommodative and dismissive strategies is used, which could help explain the failure of the Pirate Party in the elections.

L'homme politique comme marque : Le réenchantement du politique par la consommation : Propriétés communicationnelles et socio-sémiotiques des marques politiques / The politician as brand : the re-enchantment of politics through consumption : Communicational and socio-semiotic properties of political brandsBaygert, Nicolas 19 September 2014 (has links)
The concept of « political brand » is part of a widespread dedifferentiation of the consumption field. The aim of this thesis is to understand the socio-semiotic and communicational properties of theses brands that potentially foster citizen engagement. The research will at first focus on the “Segolène Royal Brand”. Nevertheless, the shift to the branding field also results in the emergence of a “political consumerism” which takes consumer sovereignty as model of political sovereignty. Boosted by online networks, Political consumerism is also promoting to the permanent judgement of political brands. It may also result in the surfacing of brand communities co-constructing their autonomous political offer. Examples such as the Tea Party, the Pirate party or the MoVimento Cinque Stelle illustrate these news forms of mobilisation, based on aggregation of political engaged prosumers.

Big Content's Big Blunders : Anti-piracy measures in the entertainment and copyright industriesMajek, Dee January 2013 (has links)
This thesis examines the on-going anti-piracy and anti-file sharing measures taken by media conglomerates and big content as misguided attempts at addressing changing consumer expectations and social and technological norms. These measures include legislation such as the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act (PIPA), Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), and Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA); and litigation against both extremes of the spectrum: from the world's largest file sharing search engines like The Pirate Bay, and cyberlockers like MegaUpload, to private citizens who illegally downloaded a few movies or a few songs. The manner in which the entertainment industry's largest, most expensive, and highest-profile anti-piracy measures in the recent years have been received by groups from IT corporations to human rights organizations, researchers, politicians, legal and internet experts, and millions of citizens worldwide are of focus; and how this translates into an unpopular public image is explored. Piracy is underlined as a service and distribution problem, and various international studies are presented in exploring the relationship between illegal downloading and legal purchases.

Through the historical analysis of the \"intellectual property\", in particular patents, copyright and authors rights, this thesis deals with the crisis of contemporary capitalism, and analyzes the covert increasing trend of states, that with the use of computer technology and the intensification of laws, become increasingly authoritarian, eroding civil rights and liberties secured by populations long ago. To reach this objective the history of computers, the Internet, the Free Software Movement, the Pirate Parties, the Free Software movement in Brazil, the intellectual property laws in the Western world and the globalization of trade and finance are reconstituted
