O processo industrial não-contínuo de zincagem por imersão a quente (ZIQ) pode ocasionar a contaminação superficial do aço-carbono zincado por imersão a quente (AZIQ) com resíduos de cloreto. Estes resíduos, se não forem efetivamente eliminados, podem influenciar negativamente no desempenho dos esquemas de pintura dos sistemas dúplex (zincagem mais pintura). Sabe-se que no processo de ZIQ, a cromatização é amplamente utilizada, entretanto, o efeito que este pós-tratamento exerce no desempenho dos esquemas de pintura ainda não é bem estabelecido. Neste contexto, este trabalho teve como objetivos: I - verificar o grau de contaminação no AZIQ com sal de cloreto devido ao próprio processo de ZIQ; II - verificar os efeitos da contaminação com sal de cloreto e da cromatização do processo ZIQ no desempenho de tintas aplicadas sobre o AZIQ; e III determinar pré-tratamentos para pintura adequados para o bom desempenho das tintas aplicadas sobre o AZIQ. A metodologia adotada para alcançar o objetivo I envolveu a zincagem de chapas de aço-carbono em diferentes prestadores de serviço de ZIQ, em diferentes condições. Estas chapas zincadas foram analisadas por microanálise química qualitativa por espectrometria de dispersão de energia (EDS) em microscópio eletrônico de varredura (MEV) e pela determinação dos teores de cloreto superficiais, por método de extração com água em ebulição. A partir dos resultados obtidos para se alcançar o objetivo I, foi possível definir as condições no processo de ZIQ que potencialmente causam maior contaminação da superfície do AZIQ com sal de cloreto. Assim, para se alcançar os objetivos II e III, chapas de aço-carbono foram zincadas naquelas condições de máxima contaminação com sal de cloreto e parte delas foi submetida ao pós-tratamento de cromatização. Em seguida, uma grande parte destas chapas zincadas (cromatizadas ou não) foi submetida aos pré-tratamentos para pintura de desengraxe com solvente orgânico, de hidrojateamento a alta pressão, de jateamento abrasivo ligeiro e de ação mecânica com esponja abrasiva e água quente. Finalmente, as chapas zincadas, incluindo as não submetidas aos pré-tratamentos, foram pintadas com uma demão de tinta de aderência mais uma demão de tinta de acabamento. As chapas zincadas e pintadas foram submetidas a ensaios acelerados (imersão em água destilada e exposição em câmara de umidade saturada) e não-acelerados de corrosão (exposição em estação de corrosão atmosférica) e avaliadas por meio dos ensaios tradicionais de acompanhamento de desempenho (grau de empolamento e ensaios de aderência de tinta) e eletroquímicos (medida de potencial de circuito aberto, curva de polarização e espectroscopia de impedância eletroquímica E.I.E.). Algumas chapas zincadas, antes da pintura, foram submetidas aos ensaios de caracterização física (exame microestrutural e morfológico em MEV e rugosidade superficial), química microanálise por EDS, difração de raios X e teor de cloreto superficial pelo método de extração com água em ebulição) e eletroquímica. Os resultados obtidos, neste estudo, permitiram verificar que a aplicação adicional de sal cloreto de amônio sólido durante o processo de ZIQ tende a aumentar o grau de contaminação superficial do AZIQ com cloreto e, as etapas de resfriamento e/ou de cromatização do processo também contribuem para esta contaminação. No geral, o desempenho do AZIQ cromatizado teve desempenho inferior em relação ao não-cromatizados. O hidrojateamento a alta pressão e a lavagem com água e ação mecânica foram os prétratamentos que proporcionaram os melhores desempenhos dos esquemas de pintura. / The batch galvanizing process (BGP) can lead to surface contamination of hot-dip galvanized steel (HDGS) with chloride residues. If these residues are not effectively eliminated, they can influence negatively on the performance of duplex systems (galvanizing plus painting). It is known that the chromate quenching is widely used in the BGP, however the effect of this post-treatment on the performance of duplex systems is not well established yet. In this sense, this work aimed: I to verify the contamination degree of HDGS with chloride salt due to the BGP itself; II to verify the effects of the chloride salt contamination and chromate quenching on the performance of paints applied on HDGS; and III to determine the suitable surface preparation for painting in order for obtaining a good paint performance applied on HDGS. The adopted methodology to achieve goal I involved the galvanizing of steel plates in different service renderings with BGP, in different conditions. These HDGS plates were submitted to the qualitative energy dispersive microanalyses (EDS) in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and to the determination of superficial chloride contents by the boiling water extraction method. From the obtained results, the conditions in the BGP that potentially lead to greater surface contamination of HDGS with chloride salt were determined. Thus, to achieve goals II and III, steel plates were galvanized under the maximum chloride salt contamination condition and part of them were submitted to chromate quenching. After that, a great part of these HDGS plates (chromated or non chromated quenching) was submitted to the surface preparations for painting through organic solvent cleaning, high pressure hydroblasting, sweep blasting and handled scrub cleaning with an abrasive sponge and hot distilled water. Finally, the HDGS plates, including those not submitted to the surface preparations for painting, were painted with one coat of primer plus one coat of finishing paint. The HDGS painted plates were submitted to accelerated (distilled water immersion and humidity chamber exposure) and non accelerated (atmospheric exposure) corrosion tests and their performance were verified by means of traditional tests (degree of blistering and paint adhesion) and electrochemical measurements (open circuit potential, polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy E.I.S.). Before painting, some HDGS plates were submitted to tests for physical (microstructural and morphological analyses in MEV and surface roughness), chemical (EDS, X-ray diffraction and superficial chloride contents by the boiling water extraction method) and electrochemical characterization. The obtained results allowed verifying that the additional application of solid ammonium chloride salt during the BGP tends to increase the degree of superficial chloride contamination of the HDGS and, the water and/or chromate quenching also contribute for this contamination. In general, the chromated HDGS presented worst performances. The high pressure hydroblasting and the handled scrub cleaning with an abrasive sponge and hot distilled water were the surface preparations for painting that provided the best performances of paint systems.

In my essay I am looking at the common heritage of written signs and images through my own experience of attention deficiency and mental illness. Through this lens of experience in which words and images are vividly transformed and merged, I am reflecting on language and art and their overlapping. Throughout the text I reference early written entirely pictorial languages, the painterly terms of thought disorders, as well as how the images that gave name to the characters in the phonetic alphabet is still lurking in the very letters themselves. I also exemplify how attention deficiency can evoke new image/text hybrids in a chapter I call ADHD poetry. In my own artistic practice I am drawn towards a melting point of language, written sign, image, high and low, illusion-representation-materiality, intellect and intuition. The surface as a physical object and idea – that there is a two-dimensional space where we project fantasies and fiction. Through prose, play, rhythm, rant, word salad, crumble of meaning etc. sandwiched, I am observing the swelling of words.

According to this qualitative arts-based research study, the DAP (Draw a Person) and variations of
PAP (Paint a Person) and CAP (Create a Person) with the use of appropriate DAP, PAP and CAP
questionnaires, seem relevant therapeutic projective measures to assist in educational psychology

One of the key issues of our society is to decrease energy demand. About 40 % of energy consumption in Europe is related to building operation, mostly for heating. The required thermal comfort is related mainly to temperature of air and temperature of surrounding surfaces. Especially in older buildings with low level of thermal insulation the inner surface of perimeter wall can be several degrees colder than air. In such case the perception of thermal comfort will be lowered also depending on the layout of the room. Other issue can be related to thermal radiation asymmetry. The amount of energy that is eradiated from a surface is driven by material property called emissivity. A surface with sufficiently low emissivity will became “thermal mirror”. It is possible to elaborate about intelligent thermal management of the internal space with usage of low-emissive surfaces; where thermal radiation can be suppressed or can be enhanced. This depends on the surface emissivity and its real temperature. Recently, growing interest about the low-emissive surfaces can be seen. They can represent reasonable complement to conventional insulation, but they have certain limits. Potentially, even higher energy savings can be reached with so called retro reflection. If the thermal radiation of an object is reflected back, its thermal loss will be lower. In such case it can be expected that equivalent thermal comfort can be reached even with lower overall temperature of the room. The aim of the work is study of material combinations with potential for utilization as low-emissive interior surfaces. Research has been conducted on low-emissive paints and low-emissive foils. Another part of the work is related to retro reflection of thermal radiation as a potential way to influence thermal comfort. The work shows, that energy saving up to 20% can be obtained.

In dieser Arbeit wird die Berechenbarkeit des Deformationsverhaltens von Aluminiumaußenhautbauteilen in einem für die Automobilindustrie typischen Lacktrocknungsprozess um den irreversiblen Kriecheffekt erweitert. Untersucht wird dabei die in Europa oft für Außenhautbauteile eingesetzte Legierung AA6016 mit Hilfe von Zug- und Biegetests, aus denen ein geeignetes Werkstoffmodell für die numerische Simulation abgeleitet wird. Dabei wird auch der Einfluss des Umformgrades im Blechbauteil aus dem Herstellprozess untersucht und bewertet. Die seriennahe Validierung des Werkstoffmodells findet anhand einer eigens ausgelegten Baugruppe statt, die nach dem Wärmeprozess optisch sichtbare Formabweichungen aufweist. Mittels optischer Messungen wird die Baugruppe dabei vor, im und nach dem Wärmeprozess analysiert und die berechneten Formänderungen validiert. Im Ergebnis kann mit dem Werkstoffmodell die Auswirkung thermisch induzierter Spannungen unterhalb der klassischen Streckgrenze auf die Formänderung von Aluminiumblech in der frühen Produktentwicklungsphase prognostiziert werden. / In this work, the computability of the deformation behaviour of aluminium car body panels in a typical automotive paint drying process is enhanced by the irreversible creep effect. The alloy AA6016, which is often used in Europe for aluminium car body panels, is examined with the aid of tensile and bending tests from which a suitable material model for numerical simulation is derived. The influence of the plastic deformation in the sheet metal component due to the manufacturing process is also examined and evaluated. The near-series validation of the material model takes place on the basis of a specially designed assembly which shows optically visible shape deviations after the heating process. Using optical measurements, the assembly is analyzed before, during and after the heating process and the calculated shape changes are validated. As a result, the material model can be used to predict the effect of thermally induced stresses below the classic yield strength on the deformation of aluminium sheet in the early product development phase.

Corrosion protection is very significant for metals in modern society from the view of industrial development. This thesis work project involves a research study that is aimed to investigate the effect of corrosion on the mechanical strength and magnetic properties of four no treated or treated Somaloy® component samples (Somaloy®700 1P, Somaloy®700 3P, Somaloy®700HR 5P and Somaloy®110i 5P) provided by Höganäs AB and laminated steel sheets by salt spray test. The coatings for protection are phosphoric acid coating, sodium silicate coating, DCA-Modified silicone conformal coating and water-borne single coat paint respectively. Then the protective properties are evaluated by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) in 0.1 mol/L NaCl solution after 7 days exposure. From transverse rupture strength (TRS) and hysteresis loop measurements by salt spray test, although the bar samples are treated coating, the corrosion decreases the mechanical strength to a certain extent more or less over time. For the magnetic properties, the corrosive environments hardly influence the magnetic parameters of the no treated or four types of coatings treated Somaloy® components. But the all kinds of magnetic parameters for laminated ring samples have a great variation after salt spray test. In the EIS measurements, for the no treated samples, the initial corrosion resistance is only several hundred ohms and decreases after 1 hour, 8 hours and 1day exposure, then increases to a certain extent with time due to the corrosion products formed on the surface. For the sodium silicate coating, the initial corrosion resistance is approximately several ten thousands ohms and decreases rapidly only after 1 day exposure to several hundred ohms due to the sodium silicate film dissolves in the electrolyte solution and has no effective protective property. Then the following corrosion process is almost same as the no treated samples. For the water-borne single coat paint, the initial corrosion resistance can reach to several Giga-ohms and decreases over time, but can still stay at level, indicating that this coating has a very good and effective protective properties. EIS experiments indicate that water-borne single coat paint has a more effective protection than sodium silicate coating and can apply a better corrosion protection for the Somaloy® components Key words: corrosion protection, soft magnetic composites, phosphoric acid coating, sodium silicate coating, DCA-Modified silicone conformal coating , water-borne single coat paint, salt spray test, TRS, hysteresis loop, EIS

Kalkbruk har använts i tusentals år som byggnadsmaterial i byggkonstruktioner.Senare, under 1800-talet, började en variant av hydraulisk kalk, kallad vattenkalk, att användas. Det hydrauliska kalkbruk som används idag i byggnadskonstruktioner såsom fasadmurning, putsning, fogning av murverk har blivit mer vanligt att använda i stället för cementbruk, eftersom det finns fler fördelar med kalkbruk som har hydraulisk inblandning än med det cementbaserade bruket. Kalkbruk används särskilt till renovering av äldre byggnader där kalk eller hydrauliska kalkbruk sedan tidigare har använts. Det hydrauliska kalkbruket utvinns från kalksten men den hydrauliska kalk som bränns av oren kalksten kallas naturligt hydraulisk kalk och tillverkas av Saint-Astier i Frankrike. Kalken har inga hydrauliska tillsatsmedel som cement, gips, flygaska eller puzzolana material. Enligt SS-EN 459–1:2015 klassas den naturliga hydrauliska kalken efter hållfasthet, och tillverkas i tre klasser: NHL 2, NHL 3,5 och NHL 5.Naturliga hydraulisk kalkbruken har för- och nackdelar, Produktens fördelar avses av de som använder bruket överväga nackdelarna. NHL-bruk passar bättre i fuktiga miljöer, det kan återanvändas, är miljövänligt, rent och naturligt, tål mer påfrestningar och driftstiden är mindre. Väderförhållande och temperatur är av stor betydelse för att ha ett hållbart resultat inom kalkputsarbetet och således kan orsaka en viss försening i tidplaner och byggtider. Emedan nya metoder ska utreda och utvärderas för att få det optimala resultatet.Litteraturstudier, laboratorietester och intervjuer har använts för att kunna nå examensarbetets mål. Flera små tester har gjorts för att undersöka karbonatiseringsprocessen under olika väderförhållandet. Testerna visar att det naturliga kalkbruket karbonatiserar bättre och snabbare i en fuktig miljön, vilket passar det klimat som råder i Norden och i kustklimat. Det naturliga hydrauliska kalkbruket är dock ett material som kräver mer erfarenhet för att kunna uppnå bästa resultat för detta ändamål. Att vädret har stort betydelse för karbonatiseringsprocessen är ett resultat som framkommit i tidigare studier och forskning, vilket också de tester som utförts under detta arbete visar. Arbete med hydrauliska kalkbruk bör därför ske under perioder som passar kalkputsarbetet för att det ska hinna karbonatisera innan det riskerar att utsättas för påfrestning. En lämplig period är därför maj till oktober som den bästa perioder för kalkputsarbete.Naturliga hydrauliska kalkbruk utvecklas kontinuerligt, vilket kan bidra till att de kan ersätta det cementbaserade kalkbruket i framtiden utan några negativa konsekvenser såsom frostsprängning och låg hållfasthet. / The aim of the work was to analyze the carbonation of modern lime plaster with hydraulic mixing. Requirements for a certain carbonation can cause delays in schedules and construction time. The hydraulic lime mill is obtained from limestone, while the hydraulic lime burned by crude limestone is called natural hydraulic lime, which is manufactured by Saint-Astier in France. the lime has no hydraulic additives such as cement, plaster, fly ash or puzzolana materials. Natural Hydraulic lime mills fit better in the humid environment, it can be reused, is environmentally friendly, is clean and natural, can withstand more stress and the operating time is less. During the work, a study visit was made to an ongoing work process at Elin Wägnerskolan in Växjö, which Karlssons fasad AB had taken over the restoration responsibility. Interviews were conducted with one of the players at Målarkalk AB, which is one of the largest suppliers in the lime industry and project manager at Karlssons Fasad AB. Several small tests have been done to see the carbonation process under different weather conditions. The tests show that natural lime farming carbonates better and faster in a humid environment, which suits the Nordic countries and coastal environments. Natural hydraulic lime mills are well suited to replace cement-based mortars in the future without any negative impact.

Surface Measurements And Predictions Of Full-coverage Film CoolingNatsui, Gregory 01 January 2012 (has links)
Full-coverage film cooling is investigated both experimentally and numerically. First, surface measurements local of adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer augmentation for four different arrays are described. Reported next is a comparison between two very common turbulence models, Realizable k-ε and SST k-ω, and their ability to predict local film cooling effectiveness throughout a full-coverage array. The objective of the experimental study is the quantification of local heat transfer augmentation and adiabatic film cooling effectiveness for four surfaces cooled by large, both in hole count and in non-dimensional spacing, arrays of film cooling holes. The four arrays are of two different hole-to-hole spacings (P/D = X/D = 14.5, 19.8) and two different hole inclination angles (α = 30◦ , 45◦ ), with cylindrical holes compounded relative to the flow (β = 45◦ ) and arranged in a staggered configuration. Arrays of up to 30 rows are tested so that the superposition effect of the coolant film can be studied. In addition, shortened arrays of up to 20 rows of coolant holes are also tested so that the decay of the coolant film following injection can be studied. Levels of laterally averaged effectiveness reach values as high as ¯η = 0.5, and are not yet at the asymptotic limit even after 20 − 30 rows of injection for all cases studied. Levels of heat transfer augmentation asymptotically approach values of h/h0 ≈ 1.35 rather quickly, iii only after 10 rows. It is conjectured that the heat transfer augmentation levels off very quickly due to the boundary layer reaching an equilibrium in which the perturbation from additional film rows has reached a balance with the damping effect resulting from viscosity. The levels of laterally averaged adiabatic film cooling effectiveness far exceeding ¯η = 0.5 are much higher than expected. The heat transfer augmentation levels off quickly as opposed to the film effectiveness which continues to rise (although asymptotically) at large row numbers. This ensures that an increased row count represents coolant well spent. The numerical predictions are carried out in order to test the ability of the two most common turbulence models to properly predict full coverage film cooling. The two models chosen, Realizable k − ε (RKE) and Shear Stress T ransport k − ω (SSTKW), are both two-equation models coupled with Reynolds Averaged governing equations which make several gross physical assumptions and require several empirical values. Hence, the models are not expected to provide perfect results. However, very good average values are seen to be obtained through these simple models. Using RKE in order to model full-coverage film cooling will yield results with 30% less error than selecting SSTKW.
