Roza, Edleide Santos 27 February 2018 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This study, entitled: Cordel, literary literacy and verb-visuality: three concepts, an author, a history, a pamphlets, objectified to carry through the reading verb-appearance of the cordel pamphlets A mulher que se casou dezoito vezes…, of Valeriano Felix dos Santos, propitiating the literary literacy for pupils from the Eighth grade – Elementary Level – from Professor Luiz Antonio Barreto Basic School, tied to the Municipal Teaching Network, in Riachão do Dantas, in the State of Sergipe, native city of the mentioned author. Reasoned on the studies of Maranhão (1981), Terra (1981; 1983), Curran (1987), Abreu (1999), Bakhtin (1997; 2010), Roiphe (2011; 2013), Cosson (2014), among other authors, this work was structuralized around a didactic sequence that contains several activities and games that, for its performance, needed the simultaneous reading of the constitutive verbal and visual languages from the cordel pamphlets. The sequence was applied in the selected class and the students learned what cordel is, met another author from their land, read and analyzed his most significant work. They did the simultaneous both word and image for a more complete production of the senses present in the studied pamphlets, from the expectation of them to use this practice more effectively in their everyday life, when reading other texts constituted verb-visually, especially the cordéis. The obtained results were exposed in this report and the developed sequence was affixed to the pedagogical notebook – final product of this work.

The culture of music printing in sixteenth-century Augsburg

Roper, Amelie January 2017 (has links)
In the early sixteenth century, the free imperial city of Augsburg in southern Germany played a vital role in the development of music printing with movable type north of the Alps. These technical advances impacted on the distribution of musical repertoire and placed the city's printers on a more equal footing with their Italian competitors. Taking these innovations as its starting point, this thesis examines the development of music printing in Augsburg during the sixteenth century. In addition to considering the specialist formats of choir books and partbooks, it extends the boundaries traditionally applied to music print culture to include books about music and pamphlets and broadsheets. These complementary strands of the printing industry contributed to a diverse geography of performance, with Augsburg's musical activity taking place not only in churches, schools and the home, but also in inns and on the street. The market for music publications was similarly multifaceted, encompassing professional musicians, wealthy collectors, students, keen amateurs and humble street performers. Levels of production varied. Pamphlets and broadsheets enjoyed a diverse market profile and were produced in large numbers. Theoretical texts and partbooks were issued in small quantities. In addition to reflecting their more restricted audience, this meagre output was a consequence of the city's thriving book trade, which reduced the demand for local production. In the case of partbooks, it was also a result of deliberate product placing. Augsburg's astute printers carved out a niche in a crowded market by issuing small numbers of partbooks at the highest end of the quality spectrum. The inclusive approach to music printing adopted in this study ensures that the significance of its findings extends beyond a localised investigation of print culture. By tracking the ebb and flow of production across formats and over the sixteenth century as a whole, a complex relationship between music printing and the socio-economic, cultural, political and religious upheavals of the period becomes apparent. Music printing, often the preserve of musicologists and specialist bibliographers, emerges as a powerful tool with which to refine our understanding of the early modern book world.

DEBATE EM TORNO DA REDAÇÃO E COMPOSIÇÃO DO LIVRO DE AMÓS: PROPOSTAS FUNDAMENTAIS PARA A TEORIA DA CRIAÇÃO COLETIVA A PARTIR DE AMÓS 6,1-14 / Debate about the writing and the composition of Amos Book: Basic proposals for the theory of the collective creation from Amos 6:1-14

As a first step, in order to approach on the writing problem, this study examines some contributions of both foreign experts and Brazilian scholars, and attempts to criticize their hypotheses concerning the final writing of Amos Book. The writing question of Amos Book has been indeed subject of an exciting discussion among many scholars. Secondly, the diachronic reading is fulfilled with the synchronic study of Amos Book, namely with the debate about the structure not only of the composition at Amos 6,1-14, but also of the whole book. Then, from the evaluation of the outcome of the investigation, this study employs the historicalcritical method and analyses the composition at Amos 6,1-14 as a meaningful literary unit. For such analysis, some previous considerations concerning the literary gender of lamentation, the prophetic indictment of the social injustice, and the institution of the marzeah feast are undoubtedly very important. So forth, an analysis of the literary phenomenon of the prophetic pamphlets and of the social organization, which could be behind their authorship, is made as well. Therefore, and considering the challenge of the recent methodological proposals, this research aims at giving an specific contribution to the study of Amos. It strives to demonstrate that in respect to Am 6,1-14 the reader is in front of a collective creation. In fact, the above-mentioned composition results not only from the oral preaching of Amos himself but also on the grounds of its composite form from the prophetic voices of the people, which on the impulse of the Spirit have confirmed Amos severe indictment and even have fulfilled it with their own experiences and sufferings. Finally an unpretentious excursus examines Amos Book in a wider literary context, in order to give a survey of the debate about the writing process of the Book of the Twelve as a whole, particularly from its eschatological perspective through the theological category of the Day of the Lord.(AU) / Esta pesquisa se dedica ao debate em torno da redação e composição do livro de Amós, e pretende, primeiramente, apresentar e criticar algumas hipóteses sobre as camadas literárias, que poderiam pertencer ao próprio profeta, e os acréscimos tardios.

Gélinas, Marc-André 13 April 2018 (has links)

The Dutch Bride : images of marriage and social, religious and political uses of matrimonial symbolics in the Dutch Republic, 17th Century

Thomas, Romain 23 October 2012 (has links)
"Iconic" society par excellence, the United Provinces in the seventeenth century is a place where images play a tremendous role in daily life. Meanwhile, marriage is an institution at the heart of a rehabilitation process and of a differentiation process of confessional identities involving dogmatic and disciplinary provisions. It is also a fundamental anthropological experience, experienced by everybody in the society, be it as actor or spectator. In this perspective, the matrimonial images pervade the whole visual culture of Dutch society and are at the crossroads of social, religious and political issues, at different scales, through the symbolics they involve and the social uses they are submitted to. How are confessional differences articulated to them? How are social distinctions manifested? What symbolic benefits do social actors get out of visual metaphors of marriage? Finally, how do these images interact with the reader-viewer? Through a diverse corpus of sources (illustrated books or pamphlets, single-leaf engravings, but also paintings and medals), the thesis addresses these questions by examining successively how images accompany prescriptive discourses on marriage, how they are involved in the urban elites weddings and during wedding festivities for princes, but also how they can metaphorically embody the link between the believer and God, or, paradoxically, that between the Prince of Orange and the Fatherland, in a political system claimed to be a Republic.

Foreign heroes and Catholic villains : radical Protestant propaganda of the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648)

Foster, Darren Paul January 2012 (has links)
My dissertation examines radical Protestant propaganda of the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648). It investigates the radicals’ depiction of foreign allies of the German Protestants as well as the presentation of German Catholic leaders in pamphlets and broadsheets of the war. Through analysis of representative sources portraying Prince Bethlen Gabor of Transylvania and King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, it examines the arguments used to gain support for foreign Protestant figureheads among the moderates of the Protestant camp. The dissertation also investigates the presentation of Emperor Ferdinand II and Duke Maximilian of Bavaria in order to determine how propagandists denounced German Catholic rulers as no longer worthy of German Protestant allegiance or tolerance. My conclusion demonstrates how radical propagandists sought to change moderate Protestant attitudes towards German Catholic rulers and foreign allies through a cohesive and sophisticated campaign.

[en] CAN EXIST PEOPLE WITHOUT KING, AND KING WITHOUT PEOPLE CAN EXIST?: MANUSCRIPTS PAMPHLETS AND EMANCIPATION OF THE KINGDOM OF BRAZIL / [pt] PODE HAVER POVO SEM TER REI; E REI SEM TER POVO PODE HAVER?: PANFLETOS MANUSCRITOS E EMANCIPAÇÃO DO REINO DO BRASIL

VANESSA FRAGUAS SERRA LUCAS 10 June 2015 (has links)
[en] This work performs an analysis of the handwritten pamphlets that circulated through the Kingdom of Brazil, particularly in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, between 1820 and 1823. The Constitutionalist Movement, started with the revolution of Porto in 1820, boosted the production and circulation of pamphlets and periodicals, as well as expanded the political discussions in the two parts of the Portuguese Empire, allowing the construction of a public space for political debate dissociated from the State. In this scenario, there were discussed issues related to the drafting of a Constitution and the future of the Empire. Before the shortage of works on the handwritten pamphlets, this research aims to contribute to the studies on these documents, emphasizing the relevance of this material for the construction of a public space and for the development of public opinion. From the analysis of the content of the handwritten pamphlets, we tried to identify the main ideas and concepts presented, understand the different forms of circulation and appropriation involving this material, as well as highlight the importance of handwritten pamphlets for the understanding of the dimensions of the public space that was being built.
