Paradiplomacia eclesiástica e internacionalização de redes evangélicas brasileiras na América do Sul

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de estudar o processo de internacionalização das igrejas protestantes brasileiras, principalmente na América do Sul, com enfoque na vertente pentecostal, assim como nas denominações de origem nacional, baseando-se nas discussões da geografia acerca da difusão religiosa. A pesquisa parte de uma tese, que consiste na crença de que os elementos axiológicos, como a religião, interferem na concretude, como na política e na economia. Para embasar a tese, a investigação é desenvolvida com base em um objetivo geral, seguido de quatro objetivos específicos. O objetivo geral é compreender o sistema de fixos e fluxos das redes pentecostais brasileiras na América do Sul. O primeiro objetivo especifico é sistematizar as principais discussões teóricas sobre a religião na geografia. O segundo objetivo especifico é discutir a história do protestantismo no Brasil, da sua chegada no país, até o seu atual processo de difusão internacional. O terceiro objetivo específico é estudar a dinâmica de difusão nacional das principais igrejas pentecostais, que são: Igrejas Evangélicas Assembleias de Deus; Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus e a Igreja do Evangelho Quadrangular. O quarto objetivo específico é analisar a internacionalização dessas mesmas três igrejas pentecostais brasileiras, o instrumental técnico-metodológico é baseado em discussões teóricas, históricas e empíricas. Com base nestas discussões são demonstrados padrões de espacialização das redes, periodizações de suas expansões e são criadas categorias de análise acerca da internacionalização das igrejas pentecostais brasileiras. / The present work aims to study the internationalization process of Brazilian Protestant churches, especially in South America, with a focus on Pentecostal branch, as well as the networks of national origin, based on the discussions of geography on religious diffusion. To start the research begins with a thesis, which consists in the belief that the axiological elements such as religion, interfere in the concrete, as in politics and the economy. To support the thesis, research developed based on a general goal, followed by four specific objectives, the overall goal is to understand the system of fixed and flows of Brazilian Pentecostals networks in South America. The first specific aim is to systematize the main theoretical discussions about religion in geography. The second specific aim is to discuss the history of Protestantism in Brazil, from his arrival in the country, to its current process of international diffusion. The third specific objective is to study the dynamics of national broadcast of the main churches Pentecostals who are Evangelical Churches Assemblies of God, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and the Church of the Foursquare Gospel. The fourth specific objective is to analyze the internationalization of these same three Brazilian Pentecostal churches. The technical and methodological tools based on theoretical, historical and empirical discussions. Therefore in research are stated patterns of networks, periodization of its expansion, and are created categories of analyzes regarding the internationalization of Brazilian Pentecostal churches.

The Charismatic Movement arising in the sixties brought this phenomenon under the attention of the church anew. Historically it seems that the pneumatics were a integral part of the activities of God with his people. Some of the pneumatics were already present in the Old Testament, were seen in the earthly ministry ofJesus, and were distinctive of the apostolic period. In the after-apostolic period there was a marked decline in the appearance thereof From the twelfth century onwards there was an increase in the appearance of the pneumatics that climaxed in the worldwide Pentecostal revival at the beginning of this century. The theoretical theological theory in the AFM presents the ideal that the pneumatics would still be operating, as in New Testament times (i.e. as interpreted by the AFM), in their worship services. An empirical survey with the aid of a situation analysis (yv allace' s model of deductive and inductive reasoning was used), shows that there is a marked difference between ideal and practice - the pneumatics are operating sporadically and on a limited scale in the worship services, whilst the participation of the members and their knowledge in this regard are accordingly limited. An improved practice theory is suggested. It entails an interactive model that shows the interdependency and relation between Christ as head of the church and source of the pneumatics, church members and pastors whose attitude and knowledge in connection with this are of utmost importance, and the place for and implementing of the pneumatics in the worship service. Facilitating this interactive process is the baptism in the Holy Spirit, teaching programmes, and small groups. Barns väg till frälsning i dagens svenska Pingströrelse : En studie av ett teologiskt dubbelseende och en pågående omförhandling / Children’s Way to Salvation in the Contemporary Swedish Pentecostal Movement : A study of a theological double vision and a renegotiation in progress

This thesis explore how the contemporary Swedish Pentecostal movement view childrens way to salvation. Is it possible to discern certain theological systems represented in the movement and has the movement’s view changed over time? The study reaches the conclusion that the view has changed and that there exists two logically opposite systems in the movement, leaving it with a theological double vision. The study explores the theological basis and the practical implications of both systems, and seek to discern what system is the prominent one. The study shows that the pelagian system stands out against the arminian system and that an ongoing theological renegotiation seems to strenghthen its position. The study also interacts briefly with two international pentecostal movements and finds the arminian theological system to dominate in that context. The result of the study raises questions whether the Swedish Pentecostal movement is aware of it’s double vision and the changes that is underway. The study ends by emphasizing the need for the Swedish Pentecostal movement to work through some main elements in its theology, in order to reach a clear view of children’s way to salvation. / Studien undersöker hur dagens svenska Pingströrelse ser på barns väg till frälsning. Vilka teologiska system finns representerade i rörelsen? Vilken teologi bygger dessa på och vilken praktik leder de till i förhållande till barnen? Studien söker också att besvara vilket teologiskt system som dominerar inom rörelsen samt om rörelsens syn på barns väg till frälsning har förändrats över tid. Studien visar att två oförenliga teologiska system, det pelagianska och det arminska, finns representerade i Pingströrelsen och att det pelagianska systemet är mest framträdande. Resultatet pekar på att den svenska Pingströrelsen har en dubbelsyn på barns väg till frälsning vilket leder till en skiftande praktik i förhållande till barnen. Studien utvidgar kort perspektivet och jämför den svenska Pingströrelsens teologi med teologin hos två internationella pingströrelser: Pentecostal World Fellowship och Assemblies of God. Studien avslutas med en uppmaning till den svenska Pingströrelsen att arbeta igenom sin teologi så att den kommer fram till en skarp syn på barns väg till frälsning och därmed till en välgrundad praktik i arbetet bland barnen.

At first look, through a literature review to understand the movements of modern society, more especifically define the so-called consumer society. We analyse the various theories on consuption and seek to establish the parameters that govern the relationship between religion, market and consumerism. In a second step, we consider the composition of what is currently know as pentecostalisms. We understand what characteristics delimit Pentecostalism from its beginnings, as well as its evolution in the 20th century, and from there, sort your current diversity and the new directions taken by the same. We establish dialogue with the most recent census data to understand the evolution of the religious in brasilian scene. Even then, qualify this ethnographic field research: located the city of São Bernardo do Campo and the district of Riacho Grande, and that is where we will carry out Field research with subjects pentecostal religious origin. Finally, we understand, through questionnaires and interviews, which currently features assume pentecostals, as well as what changes are observed in the same religious practices, fruits dialogue between pentecostalism and the consumer society. We understand that, as a consequence of this relationship, new ways of relating to the sacred are adopted, thus setting what we define as new pentecostal religious subject. / A dissertação analisa as relações do pentecostalismo com a sociedade de consumo e quais as influências sofridas pelo pentecostalismo a partir desse diálogo. Em um primeiro momento procuramos, em pesquisa bibliográfica, compreender as movimentações da sociedade moderna, mais especificamente definimos a chamada sociedade de consumo. Analisamos as diversas teorias sobre o consumo e buscamos estabelecer os parâmetros que regem as relações entre religião, mercado e consumismo. Em um segundo momento, entendemos a composição do que é conhecido atualmente como pentecostalismos, compreendendo quais características delimitam o pentecostalismo desde seus primórdios, e como se deu sua evolução dentro do século 20, para, a partir daí, classificar sua diversidade atual e os novos rumos tomados pelo mesmo. Estabelecemos diálogo com os mais recentes dados censitários para entender a evolução desse campo religioso no cenário brasileiro. Ainda nesse momento, qualificamos o campo etnográfico da pesquisa: localizamos a cidade de São Bernardo do Campo e o distrito do Riacho Grande, onde ocorreu a pesquisa de campo com sujeitos religiosos de origem pentecostal. Finalmente entendemos, por meio de questionários e entrevistas, quais características assumem atualmente os pentecostais e as modificações observadas em suas práticas religiosas, fruto do diálogo entre o pentecostalismo e a sociedade de consumo. Entendemos que, como consequência da relação, novas maneiras de se relacionar com o sagrado são adotadas, configurando o que definimos como novo sujeito religioso pentecostal.

A dimensão institucional da magia no neopentecostalismo: o papel decisório do poder mágico como atrativo a adesão religiosa na Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus

Este trabalho versa sobre o rápido crescimento do movimento neopentecostal, especialmente a Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, no atual contexto de desencantamento do mundo. Paradoxalmente ao que se imaginaria há algum tempo atrás, os movimentos religiosos tem crescido cada vez mais, e, no caso da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, assim como em todo o neopentecostalismo, consideramos que esse aumento está relacionado a configuração de seus ritos. A utilização da magia nos rituais de tal denominação religiosa ocorre de forma sistemática com a apropriação e ressignificação de elementos da religiosidade brasileira no contexto do mundo moderno. Tanto pelo lastro cultural da prática da magia entre a sociedade por mais cinco séculos de história, como pelo mergulho no misticismo em busca de sentido diante das aflições modernas. E mais. A magia é segundo Marcel Mauss, por definição, objeto de crença, todos os que a ela recorrem acreditam na sua eficácia. A prosperidade como espectro subjacente aos ritos, trás em si, poder de consumo e eficácia que só na magia, é possível a mobilização de energias que tornam refém a ação do sagrado. / This paper describes the rapid growth of neo-pentecostal movement, especially the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, in the current context of "disenchantment of the world." Paradoxically like imagine some time ago, religious movements have grown increasingly, and in the case of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, just as in any neo-pentecostalism, we believe that this increase is related to configuration of their rites. This work attends the problem under three historical perspectives: the dispute between Augustine and Pelagio, in the begining of the fifth century; the polemics of the Protestant Reform, in the Modern Ages, with the Lutheran and Calvinist results; the neopentecostalism, in the present, taking by reference the Universal Church of God s Kingdom founded in 1977 by Edir Macedo, who has self-named Bishop. In this religious-historical conditions, the concept of grace remains connected to manifestation of sacred, whose expression is registered in a systematic theological discourse in both first periods. However, under the actual perspective, the grace is agreed of utilitarian manner without systematic expression, and the human freedom is under persistent menace, in an environment which the forces of harmony and chaos are in conflit. / Nosso propósito é mostrar que, desde Agostinho, o problema da relação entre liberdade humana e graça divina perpassa o cristianismo histórico ocidental. Para tanto, o presente trabalho considera três perspectivas históricas: A controvérsia entre Agostinho e Pelágio, no início do Séc. V; os desdobramentos luterano e calvinista no contexto da Reforma Protestante, na Idade Moderna; os movimentos neopentecostais contemporâneos, tomando-se como referência a Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, fundada em 1977, pelo autodenominado Bispo Edir Macedo. Nessa trajetória histórico-religiosa, o conceito de graça permanece ligado à manifestação do sagrado, cuja expressão é registrada em discursos teológicos sistemáticos nos dois primeiros períodos considerados. Porém, no terceiro enfoque, o contemporâneo, a graça se apresenta de modo utilitarista, sem expressão sistemática, e a liberdade humana é constantemente ameaçada em meio à luta entre as forças da ordem e do caos.

Leadership mentoring and succession in the Charismatic churches in Bushbuckridge : a critical assessment in the light of 2 Timothy 2 :1 - 3

This study investigated the state of leadership mentoring and succession planning in the Charismatic Churches in Bushbuckridge. In order to gain a full understanding of the Charismatic Movement which emerged in Bushbuckridge only four decades ago, it was necessary to trace its origin from the Azusa Street Revival which gave birth to Pentecostalism almost a century ago. The Charismatic Movement emerged as a distinct movement only five decades later following the birth of the Pentecostal Movement. The reviewed literature revealed that the Charismatic Movement is a child of the marriage between the Pentecostal Movement and traditional denominations. The main watermark distinction between the theologies of the two movements is based on the fact that the Pentecostal Movement emphasises speaking in tongues while the Charismatic Movement places emphasis on the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. By virtue of their one-man-founder, Charismatic Churches are likely to experience the same leadership mentoring and succession problems that are common to family businesses. An assessment of leadership mentoring and succession practices in the business world proved that the concept has been researched, practiced, and perfected more in the secular world than in the world of religious and biblical studies. Although this study uncovered some exceptionally successful mentoring relationships in both the New and the Old Testaments, they do not provide details of what those who were involved in the mentoring relationships did for them to be successful. It is in the secular world that mentoring relationships, stages and models have been researched and practiced. It is when mentors and protégés are pared correctly and their relationships managed properly throughout all the mentoring stages that organisations can be assured of smooth leadership transitions. A triangulation of the qualitative and the quantitative methods was used to collect data in this study. On the qualitative side of the research, data was collected by means of interviews and focus group studies. Interviews with the apostolic fathers of the Charismatic Movement in South Africa raised a concern over the lack of leadership mentoring and succession programmes, especially amongst the younger generation of churches. The concern was confirmed in all the focus group studies which were conducted in Bushbuckridge. The data which was collected from the qualitative side of the study provided a basis for the content of the questionnaire the researcher drew up for the quantitative side of the study. This side of the study contradicted the views of the participants in interviews and focus groups in that it reported that many Charismatic Churches in Bushbuckridge do in fact have leadership mentoring and succession programmes (85% and 72% respectively). The quantitative side of the study further revealed that education levels and gender have a statistically significant effect in leadership mentoring, while location does not. The researcher suggests that the contradiction in the outcomes of the two research methods deserve a follow-up study. This study presents to Charismatic Church leaders in Bushbuckridge lessons drawn from the leadership mentoring and succession practices of both the biblical and secular worlds. This study would be incomplete without the bringing to the fore of an illustrative text in the 2 Timothy 2:1-3. Generally speaking, adherents in the Charismatic Churches read and interpret the bible as authoritative for faith and life. The participants‘ call for the introduction or/and enhancement of leadership mentoring and succession is therefore harnessed by the biblical message in 2 Timothy 2:1-3.
