Į asmenybės augimą nukreiptų grupių reikšmė vyrų, patiriančių krizę, savigarbai / The personal growth of targeted groups, the value of men in crisis, self-esteem

Slapšienė, Oksana 03 February 2012 (has links)
Objective of the study - to assess the men faced the crisis of self-esteem changes in personal growth and self-esteem group at mid-year changes in the personal growth groups. Parental Grief Reactions After An Infant Death

Yildirim, Sehnaz 01 December 2002 (has links) (PDF)
The aim of the present study was to examine whether there was a significant difference within each spouse&amp / #8217 / s reports on grief reactions after an infant death. It was also aimed to investigate whether demographic variables including gender, age, education of grieved parents, gender and age of deceased infant, presence of other children were predictors of parental grief reactions after an infant death. The sample of the present study consisted of 55 couples experiencing an infant death within the last 2 years. Sample was recruited through death records kept in hospital and municipalities of Ankara by the researcher. To test the hypotheses of the study paired samples t-test and stepwise regression analyses were performed. According to the results of the study, it was found that there was a significant difference within each spouse&amp / #8217 / s reports on despair, panic behavior, blame and anger, detachment, and disorganization as separate dimensions of grief. Mothers experienced higher levels of despair, panic behavior, blame and anger, detachment, and disorganization than fathers. There was no significant difference within each spouse&amp / #8217 / s score on personal growth. It was found that being a mother and having lost boy infant were proved as the predictors of parents&amp / #8217 / higher levels of grief reactions. Age and education of grieved parents, age of deceased infant, presence of other children were not associated with parental grief reactions. It was found that younger age of deceased infant and presence of other children were proved as predictors of grieved parents&amp / #8217 / higher levels of personal growth. The findings of the study were discussed with related literature.

The experiences of senior leaders driving large scale change in a construction company

Koopman, Sharene Grace 01 February 2013 (has links)
A phenomenological study was conducted to explore and understand the personal experiences and meaning ascribed by senior leaders within a large multidisciplinary construction company. An effort was made to understand how they personally experienced leading others, what they learnt about themselves, what challenged them most, and what support, if any they had during their leadership of large-scale organisational change. The research found that there is a significant personal cost to the individual. This cost comes in terms of career, work-life balance and even reputation. It provides an opportunity to grow in self-knowledge, provided leaders are open to learn and reflect and that there is a substantive support structure both internally and externally to the organisation in order to ‘survive’. Without this malleable disposition, the already high cost escalates to the extent that it could be life threatening. In spite of the prolific literature available, the leaders claim that shareholders and most others do not understand the extreme length of time it takes to start and embed change that is sustainable. Without that understanding from the other role players, the leader carries not only the blame but also the scars of failed change. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

The Effects of Children's Spiritual Coping after Parent, Grandparent or Sibling Death on Children's Grief, Personal Growth, and Mental Health

Hidalgo, Ivette M 26 June 2017 (has links)
Parental death can have a negative impact on children’s lives with changes in economic resources, and lead to change in residence, loss of contact with friends and neighbors, change in caretakers, and loss of time with the surviving parent. Research on the effects of a grandparent’s death on children is limited. Death of a sibling signifies the loss of a role model, friend, confidante, and playmate. The purpose of this correlational study was to identify: 1) differences in the spiritual coping strategies used by children across age groups, gender, race/ethnicity, participation in religious rituals and practices, and the relationship of the deceased to the child (parent, grandparent or sibling), and 2) the relationship between children’s use of spiritual coping strategies and grief, personal growth, anxiety, and depression after the death, with and without controls for child’s age, gender, race/ethnicity, participation in religious rituals and practices, and relationship of the deceased to the child. A sample of 97 children, 8 to 18 years old and 64% Hispanic completed the Spiritual Coping Strategies Scale, Hogan Inventory of Bereavement, Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale, and Child Depression Inventory, and their parents completed a demographic form. Children who participated in religious rituals after the death used less religious coping strategies than children who did not participate. When child’s age, gender, race/ethnicity, participation in religious rituals and practices, and relationship of the deceased were controlled, greater use of spiritual coping, but not religious coping, and greater grief were significantly related to greater personal growth and greater anxiety. Younger children and Black children had significantly greater anxiety. Only grief was significantly related to depression. Children who experienced the death of a parent, grandparent, or sibling had similar outcomes. The results of this pioneer study will add knowledge to the state of the science regarding the effects of children’s spiritual coping after parent, grandparent, or sibling death on their grief, personal growth, and mental health which is a subject area were very little is known.

The relationship between self-actualisation and emotional intelligence

Herbst, Roché 30 June 2003 (has links)
The aim of this research is to show theoretical similarities between emotional intelligence and self-actualisation. The empirical results give evidence of the relationship between these two concepts. An assessment battery consisting of the BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory (BarOn EQ-i), an emotional intelligence instrument and the Personal Orientation Inventory (POI), a self-actualisation instrument was used to measure the concepts of emotional intelligence and self-actualisation. A sample of 71 employees was assessed using psychometric tests and a biographical questionnaire. The data was collected over a period of four months. The statistical methods used in this research focus on quantitative measurement. Calculations are mainly done with t-tests and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient. The empirical results of this research give partial evidence of the correlation between emotional intelligence and self-actualisation. Positive relationships between various factors of emotional intelligence and self-actualisation were found. / Industrial & Organisational Psychology / M.A.(Industrial Psychology)

Freitas, Clarissa Pinto Pizarro de January 2016 (has links)
This thesis join up four studies that aims to investigate the relationship of levels of personal resources with well-being of individuals. A literature review on the personal growth initiative was carried out in order to understand in depth the construct of personal growth initiative. Later, three empirical studies were developed. The first empirical paper refers to the study of adaptation and evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Personal Growth Initiative Scale - II (Personal Growth Initiative Scale - II, PGI-II). It was observed that the Brazilian version of PGI-II was established as a reliable instrument to investigate the levels of readiness for change, planfulness, intentional behavior and using resources, with a four first-order factor structure. The second empirical research evaluated if presence of meaning in life mediated the relationships of the dimensions of personal growth initiative with subjective well-being. It was observed that the presence of meaning in life measured the impact of dimensional planning and intentional behavior on levels of satisfaction with life, positive and negative affect. The dimensions readiness for change and using resources were not related to levels of presence of meaning in life. The dimensions readiness for change and using resources were negatively associated with levels of subjective well-being. The third empirical research has evaluated if presence of meaning in life mediated the relationships of optimism, pessimism and self-esteem with levels of stress, life satisfaction, positive and negative affect. The results showed that the relationship between optimism and self-esteem with levels of stress, positive affect and negative were partially mediated by levels of presence of meaning in life. However, the relations of pessimism with stress, life satisfaction, positive affect and negative were not mediated by levels of presence of meaning in life. Future studies should evaluate if the relations of personal resources with subjective well-being and stress are replicable to other samples. The main contribution of this thesis was to provide a scale to investigate the initiative to personal growth in the Brazilian context. In addition, the results of this study advance the understanding of the relationship between personal resources and well-being.

Dynamisk Ledarutveckling : En ny metod för personlig utveckling av ledare skapad genom integration av två etablerade metoder för personlig utveckling / Dynamic Leadership Development : A new method for leadership development created out of two well-established methods

Rudbäck, Marie-Christine January 2013 (has links)
