Previous issue date: 1976 / The occupational psychology contributes to the scientific development of the society through its conception of man as a integral being. This investigation tries to find the relation between Holland's theory and Cattell's elements of the personality. Holland suggest six kinds of personality, realistic, intelectual, social, enterprising, conventional and artistic and their interaction with the environment. In consequence, we find significant result between the types of personality described by Holland and Cattell's traits or factors. / A psicologia das ocupações contribui para o desenvolvimento científico da sociedade através de seis conceitos sobre o homem corno um ser integral. Esta investigação tenta verificar a relação entre a teoria de Holland e os elementos da personalidade apontados por Cattell. Holland sugere seus tipos de personalidade: o realista, o intelectual, o social, o empregador, o convencional e o artístico e a interrelação desses tipos de personalidade com o ambiente. Consequentemente, encontramos resultados significantes entre os tipos de personalidade descritos por Holland e os traços e fatores de Cattell.

Previous issue date: 2006-04-28T00:00:00Z / The present work proposes a reflection on professional trajectories from a subjective point of view, approaching the 'histories of life', the stories of who has made, or is in the process of making, at personal will, important career changes. The research universe is composed of people from average socio-economic status, who live in Rio de Janeiro city. The analys is is based on 20 in-depth, personal interviews that took place between July 2004 and June 2005. The main questions discussed were the relativization of the 'change' category applied to the career, the directions and meanings of these changes, and how the professional reinvention is related to a personal project of self-knowledge and self-transformation, of which psychological and alternative practices contribute for its development and strength. The analyzed dimension is of the psychological subject who possess an individuation project and who reinvents herself or himself based on the conditions that he/she withholds. In order to contextualize the meaning that the individual has in the modern western culture, the discussion is preceded by a historical description of the genesis of individual-value and the work-value. / O trabalho propõe uma reflexão sobre as trajetórias profissionais do ponto de vista subjetivo, abordando as 'histórias de vida', os relatos daqueles que, por vontade própria, fizeram deslocamentos em suas carreiras ou se encontram em meio a tal processo. O universo pesquisado é constituído por pessoas das camadas médias urbanas, moradoras do município do Rio de Janeiro. A análise tomou como base vinte entrevistas pessoais gravadas, realizadas entre julho de 2004 e junho de 2005. As principais questões discutidas são a relativização da categoria 'mudança' quando aplicada à carreira; os sentidos e os significados dos deslocamentos e o modo como a reinvenção profissional se integra a um projeto pessoal de autoconhecimento e autotransformação, nos quais as práticas psicológicas e alternativas contribuem para seu desenvolvimento e fortalecimento. A dimensão analisada é a do sujeito psicológico que possui um projeto individualizador e se reinventa a partir das condições que detém. Para contextualizar o significado que o indivíduo possui na cultura ocidental moderna, a discussão destes temas é precedida por um histórico sobre o indivíduo-valor e sobre o trabalho-valor.

Previous issue date: 1993 / Resumo: Este estudo, de caráter descritivo, é específico da área de Orientação Educacional com o objetivo de detectar as justificativas, para a escolha profissional do jovem, na opção para o exame vestibular. Procede a análise do concurso vestibular enquanto momento da escolha e suas implicações futuras, partindo da revisão crítica das teorias disponíveis sobre escolha profissional, discutindo teoricamente o trabalho como exercício da profissão escolhida, caracterizando o jovem sujeito da escolha. A análise é feita com os dados de uma extensa pesquisa empírica com alunos dos terceiros anos dos cursos colegiais das escolas públicas e particulares e dos cursos pré-vestibulares da cidade de Campinas com um total de 4033 (quatro mil e trinta e três) sujeitos. As conclusões tiradas mostram que vários são os fatores apontados como determinan¬tes da escolha, distinguindo-se como relevantes o gosto pessoal, a identificação do indivíduo com a profissão escolhida; a qualidade da faculdade que oferece cursos com maior credibilidade no mercado; a proximidade da faculdade em relação à residência do estudante e as perspectivas favoráveis da profissão dentro do mercado de trabalho / Abstract: This descriptive study, specific to the area of education orientation, has the objective of detecting the justifications made by young people for career choice options on college entrance examinations. Analyzing the college entrance examination as a moment of choice with future implications, we start with a critical revision of available theories about professional choose, then theoretically discuss work as the exerci se of the profession chosen, and characterize the young chooser. Based upon data from an extensive empirical research study of third year public and private high school students and students of college entrance examination preparation course in the city of Campinas, the responses of a' total of 4.033 students were analyzed. The conclusions demonstrate that there are various factors that determine choice. Among those identified as relevant are: personal tastes, the identification of the individual with the profession choused the quality of the institution that offers the course in terms of market credibility; the proximity of the institution to the students residence; and the favorable employment perspectives of the profession within the job market / Mestrado / Psicologia Educacional / Mestre em Educação

Previous issue date: 2014-09-30 / The problem of decision making, its mechanisms and consequences is the very core of management, it is virtually impossible to separate the act of manage from this knowledge area. As defined by Herbert Simon – 'decision making' as though it were synonymous with 'managing'. A decision is a selection made by an individual regarding a choice of a conclusion about a situation. This represents a course of behavior pertaining to what must be done or what must not be done. A decision is the point at which plans, policies and objectives are translated into concrete actions. Our behavior during decisive moments is closely linked with our brain dominance profile. Over the years, our decision-making processes develop a consistent pattern, which can be described as a decision-making style. Our style is grounded in our preferences, which arise from our brain dominance characteristics […]. The importance of understanding the impact of our thinking preferences and how to improve the effectiveness as a leader of organizations are the main justifications for this thesis; the main problem addressed is the behavioral profile diversity in a selective Master’s cohort formed by students from several different countries. The research methodology approach has been quantitative, through questionnaire administration using the HBDI (Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument), a validated framework developed by William 'Ned' Herrmann when he was the leader of General Electric's Crotonville facility. This questionnaire has been administered in hundreds of thousands professional, enabling the possibility to establish correlations between a certain group and several historical databases. The selected group of analysis is the first cohort (23 students) from the CIM (Corporate International Master's), a joint program between Georgetown University (USA), ESADE (Spain) and FGV (Brazil). Besides decision preferences, the obtained profile enables the discussion on leadership style, heuristic's pitfalls and a base to compare with future cohorts. The fundamental research question is: how diverse is the dominant decision-making profile for the CIM students?

Previous issue date: 2004-03-23T00:00:00Z / This thesis studies the core competencies required by perishables goods salespeople faced with environmental changes and new relationships strategies among food industries and their marketing channels. Those changes emphasize the strategic position of salespeople converting them in the principal link among the organizations, conjoined the buyers. The basic purpose for using a competency model was made because there is a close relationship involving organizational competences and their workers’ competencies, which are the foremost differences to face the competitiveness pressure and market demands to delivery high quality products and less costs. Revisions of Administration theories in marketing and personal sales and revisions of Psychological theories with reference to competency were made. A competency dictionary with 16 key competencies was made accordance to the actual relationship context between buyer and seller. The research was accomplished among ECR Brazil participants and employees of supermarkets and food industries (n = 192), for whom the results will be useful in the salespeople professional improvement. Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used to generate a theoretically model with three dimensions – competitiveness support, effective relationship and operational integration – containing 12 core competencies. Convergent, discriminant and nomological validities of theoretically model constructs were tested. The goodness-of-fit measures (absolute fit, incremental fit and parsimonious fit) and the expected crossvalidation index (ECVI) were performed and the model shown consistency with the data and good approximation to population (X² = 68,15, DF = 51, p = 0,054, RMSEA = 0,042). The measurement model results evaluation shown partial constructs validity and low reliability with the theoretically model indicators. The conclusion describes the results and theoretical implications, limitations, contributions and suggestions for futures studies. / Esta tese estuda as competências essenciais requeridas dos profissionais em vendas de bens perecíveis diante das mudanças ambientais e novas estratégias de relacionamento entre as indústrias de alimentação e seus canais de marketing. Há revisões teóricas sobre marketing e venda pessoal no lado da Administração e sobre competências no lado da Psicologia. Da revisão teórica foram selecionadas 16 competências chave para compor um dicionário, convenientes ao atual contexto de relacionamento entre comprador e vendedor. A pesquisa foi conduzida entre participantes de comitês do Movimento ECR Brasil, funcionários de supermercados e de indústrias de alimentação (n = 192). Empregaram-se as técnicas estatísticas da análise fatorial exploratória e da análise fatorial confirmatória e o modelo teórico foi gerado com três dimensões - suporte à competitividade, relacionamento eficaz e integração operacional - abrangendo 12 competências essenciais. Foram testadas as validades convergente, discriminante e nomológica dos constructos do modelo teórico. Quanto às medidas de ajustamento global do modelo teórico mais o índice esperado de validação cruzada (ECVI) foi possível constatar que o modelo demonstrou consistência com os dados e teve uma boa aproximação da população (X² = 68,15, DF = 51, p = 0,054, RMSEA = 0,042). A avaliação dos resultados do modelo de medidas revelou evidência parcial quanto à validade dos constructos e baixa fidedignidade quanto aos indicadores do modelo teórico.
