Connectivity Identification of Distribution Transformers and Customers Served Using Power Line Carrier Technology

This thesis is to develop the power line carrier based identifier for the determination of customers served by each distribution transformer. The signal transmission characteristics of the power line carrier (PLC) over low voltage distribution lines and investigated. By executing the connectivity validation with the identifier developed, the accuracy of outage management system database can be enhanced for different types of customers (commercial /office buildings, commercial/ buildings, residential buildings) Various application functions such as contingency maintenance, transformer load management and customer outage management can be supported by outage management system (OMS) system more effecting. The mathematical models of 1£r2W, 1£r3W, 3£r3W and 3£r4W distribution have been developed by including the high frequency equivalent circuits of transformers, low voltage lines and customer loads in the computer simulation. The systems of signal coupling circuit, data processing, man machine interface have been designed with the embedded firmware for the PLC identifier. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the PLC identifier, a field test has been performed in Tainan District of Taipower. It is found that the customers served by each distribution transformer can be determined correctly with the PLC identifier developed.

Design of Intelligent Air Conditioner Controller Using Power Line Carrier Technology

This thesis develops a peers-to-peers intelligent air conditioner (A/C) controller which integrates the power line carrier technology and the infrared remote control. The intelligent air conditioner controller is used for the remote temperature setting and load control of air conditioner without requesting extra communication line and modification of the control circuit in the A/C unit. With the A/C controller developed the demand response in residential and commercial areas can be achieved effectively by reducing the peak power demand of A/C units. In order to investigate the PLC signal transmission over the low voltage distribution lines, the mathematical model of low voltage distribution system under high carrier signal frequency is derived. The computer simulation is executed to analyze the transmission characteristics of power line carrier signal. The proposed controller can receive the command issued by the demand response control center over the distribution lines with carrier frequency to execute the remote temperature setting of A/C units. Based on the field measurement of energy by air conditioner, it is found that significantly power demand reduction of air conditioner has been resulted by applying the proposed controller for remote temperature setting of air conditioner.

En viktig del hos företag som tillverkar diverse industrimaskiner är att utbilda den personal som förväntas använda och underhålla maskinerna. Detta är för att ge användaren en god förståelse för hur maskinen i fråga fungerar och är uppbyggd. Vid sådana utbildningar är det viktigt att tillhandahålla användarvänligt utbildnings-material. Målet med detta examensarbete är att förbättra användarvänligheten för utbildningsmaterialet hos en viss utbildning för projektets uppdragsgivare. Den utbildning som skall förbättras går i dagsläget ut på att manuellt simulera processer hos en specifik maskin via en hårdvarubaserad simuleringsmiljö. Resultatet blev en lösning i form av en mjukvarubaserad simulator med tillhörande grafiskt användargränssnitt. Användaren kan därigenom på ett säkert sätt simulera maskinens beteende genom ett PC-program och då t.ex. skapa nödsituationer utan att användarens säkerhet sätts i fara. / An important part at companies that’s manufacturing industrial machines is to provide training for the machines end-users such as daily machine operators and technicians, in order to give them a good understanding about how the concerned machine works. At these kinds of trainings it’s very important that the training material used to train the users provides a high user-friendliness. The goal with this thesis is to improve the user-friendliness of an existing training tool for a specific training course from the projects client. The training course that’s going to be improved is currently using a hardware-based simulator that’s used to manually simulate processes at a certain machine. The result was a solution in shape of a software-based simulator with associated graphical user interface. The user can thus within safe circumstances simulate the concerned machines behavior through a PC-program and e.g. create emergency situations without putting the users safety in danger.

Aumentar a produção com custos operacionais reduzidos é o objetivo de qualquer companhia. Diante desse desafio a Automação Industrial ganha espaço como ferramenta redutora de custos, maximizadora da segurança operacional e facilitadora para o aumento da eficiência produtiva. Um dos principais fatores que eleva o custo operacional na indústria do petróleo é a utilização de recursos humanos em campo para operar, monitorar e controlar os processos de produção. Neste sentido, a automatização dos processos de produção torna-se inevitável e com ela surge a necessidade de prover sistemas de comunicação mais eficientes, mais confiáveis e com baixo custo de implementação. A indústria de Óleo & Gás utiliza tecnologias tais como fibra ótica e sistemas de comunicação sem fio para prover suas redes de acesso. Entretanto, essas redes são implementadas com prazos e custos elevados. Com alta capacidade de penetração nas unidades de produção onshore e baixo custo de investimento, o uso da tecnologia de comunicação de dados via rede elétrica, denominada de Power Line Communication - PLC, se torna uma alternativa economicamente e tecnicamente vantajosa quando comparada as tecnologias mencionadas anteriormente. Os poços de extração de petróleo onshore são cobertos pela planta elétrica de média tensão 13, 8 kV, fato este que reduz o tempo de implantação e torna os custos de investimentos do projeto mais atraentes. Além disso, os sistemas PLC nos dias atuais utilizam técnicas de modulação, codificação, acesso múltiplos, embaralhamento, QoS etc., que garantem maior robustez na comunicação de dados, melhor utilização da potência do sinal e maior privacidade dos dados transmitidos, dificultando o seu rastreamento. Em contrapartida, o desempenho desta tecnologia depende diretamente das condições do canal de comunicação que é caracterizado pela transmissão com multipercursos, eletividade em frequência, ruídos impulsivo, interferências de radiofrequência, entre outros. A rede de experimentos deste trabalho foi desenvolvida sob um cenário real e baseada conceitualmente nas redes inteligentes Smart Grid. Através de uma rede trifásica de média tensão, as informações de supervisão, controle e videomonitoramento do processo de produção de petróleo foram integradas e transportadas ao centro remoto de Operações SM-8, em São Mateus. Velocidades de upstream e downstream na ordem de 60 Mbps foram obtidas na camada física PLC em um trecho multipercurso de 322 m de comprimento e sem Repetidor. Já num trecho multipercurso de aprox. 2 km, um tráfego ethernet de 3 Mbps composto por dados de automação e imagens de alta definição, foi transportado em tempo real aos respectivos servidores, sem erros. The thesis deal with a model of electronically controlled assembly minicell MAP-205 based on pneumatic drives and its debugging. Assembly minicell simulates assembling and disassembling of simple four item assembly. Minicell is controlled by Phoenix Contact ILC 150ETH programmable logic controller. The minicell control program is composed of several subroutines/subprograms providing various functionalities to assembly minicell. There is integrated HMI created in Control Web application too. It allows to display actual status of each component and to control each drive in manual mode. Communication between HMI based on PC and PLC controller is supported by Bluetooth module and OPC server.

<p>Phospholipase C β (PLCβ) is an enzyme that plays a key role in cardiovascular function by hydrolyzing phosphatidylinositides (PIs) at the plasma membrane in response to the activation of G protein-coupled receptors at the membrane. PLCβ normally has low basal activity, and its activation is driven by direct binding of the heterotrimeric G protein subunits Gβγ and Gαq. Recent work from our lab and others has shown that the PH domain and first two EF-hands (EF1/2) are conformationally dynamic in solution. This opens up a potential avenue in looking at the dyamics of PLCβ as structures only depict the lipase in a more compact globular shape. We want to address how these known conformational changes PLCβ interacts with the membrane and protein-protein interactions necessary for fuction. In this study, we are using an intramolecular disulfide crosslink to stabilize defined conformational states of PLCβ. These conformational variants will be assessed for their basal activity and their ability to interact with liposomes. In addition, we are laying the initial groundwork to use these variants in single molecule tracking experiments on supported lipid bilayers. These experiments will provide significant insights into how the conformational state of PLCβ contributes to membrane binding and Gβγ stimulation at the membrane interface.</p>

This project will give you a view from another side when it comes to control engineering and mechanical construction in brewing. This is a thesis project about principles for an automatic brewing machine. This project started off with prestudy of earlier research results in automatic brewing based on the Arduino platform. This project shows principles about mechanical construction and creating a control system by using inexpensive commercial products such as CodeSys and Raspberry Pi. The project report begins describing the mechanical construction, how it works and it shows how it looks. The mechanical construction is a tall scaffolding which is the chassis of the brewing machine. The history background about brewing is reviewed and the fundamental methods about brewing are described as well. The goal of this project is to present principals by using CodeSys and Raspberry Pi together. Notice that this is not a construction document. This document does not include production wiring diagrams or blueprints – only principles of wiring diagrams and figures of the machine, designed in a CAD software. This brewing machine includes a few different kind of control systems to automate the process. The processes are a hops container that can deliver a set of hops in a specific time, motorized whisks to distribute the heat, heat exchanger for cooling down, heating control system and a drain control system. The main focus in this project is the mechanical parts, the flow system, the control systems and a discussion about each sub system. Results shows a lot of pictures of the complete system with text that explain the pictures. What was good, what was bad and what could be done better.

In these total solutions they lack standard circuit which are developed by the company and which could manoeuvre/control/monitor controlled process objects. This report defines the work of developing the most common standard circuits.The report is initiated by a short theoretical part about PLC and the PLC system, with a connected terminal, which has been used. Thereafter, the turnout of the demands of specification is reported, after discussing with the supervisor in the course of the project. The report concludes with a disclosure of how the programming, the documentation and the testing have proceeded and a final discussion concerning the project and proposals on continuation.The result is a CD with the documentation of standard circuits and how they are implemented in a new project. One library file with the program code to all standard circuit. Program code and documentation for both demonstration and testing are also on the CD. Šiais laikais sparčiai kylant pramonei ir automatikai, labai svarbų vaidmenį atlieta valdymo sistemos. Todėl valdymo sistemos yra kuriamos naudojantis įvairiais programuojamais loginiais valdikliais (PLV). [1] Pagal tarptautinį IEC 1131 standartą PLV apibrėžiamas taip: pramoninėje aplinkoje naudoti pritaikyta skaitmeninė elektroninė sistema, turinti programuojamą atmintį, į kurią įrašomos vartotojo valdymo programos, skirtos specifinėms loginėms, valdymo nuoseklumo, laiko intervalų nustatymo, įvykių skaičiavimo, aritmetinėms funkcijoms realizuoti ir pasitelkus skaitmeninius bei analoginius įėjimo/išėjimo modulius, įvairiems įrenginiams bei procesams valdyti. Toks standartu reglamentuotas PLV apibrėžimas parodo, kad programuojamieji loginiai valdikliai yra šiuolaikiška, universali ir labai plačiai taikoma įvairių automatikos sistemų valdymo priemonė. In this bachelor i programed hot water tank in two programming language: Ladder Diagram and Statement List.
