Zkušenosti žáků ZŠ s prevencí šikany na školách ve Svitavách a okolí / Pupil experience with bullying prevention in Svitavy and its surroundingsZÁLESKÁ, Lenka January 2009 (has links)
The aim of my diploma thesis, which is both theoretical and research work, is to describe possibilities of some of the available bullying prevention schemes for the basic schools in Svitavy and its surroundings. In the first theoretical part, the reader is acquainted with the problem of bullying and then the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention approaches to this pathological behaviour are explained. The thesis focuses especially on introduction of the methods, or the particular prevention projects, in use that contribute much to decreasing the danger of bullying emerging. The second practical part, which was done at six chosen basic schools of the Svitavy district, comprises the results of the questionnaire research. Pupils at the age of 14 and 15 as well as the schools prevention methologists and pedagogical advisers participated in the research - there were 108 pupils, comprising 63 girls and 45 boys, 5 prevention methodologists and 1 pedagogical adviser examined on the whole.

This thesis aims to analyze the definition of preventative occupational safety and health proposed by Convention 187 of International Labour Organization (ILO), to identify elements that may contribute to the improvement of tutelage for occupational health in Brazil. This Convention, approved in June 2006 during the 95th International Labor Conference, is the latest normative work of the ILO for the preventative occupational accidents and occupational diseases. This is a promotional normative framework of a new global strategy for the safe and healthy work environment. In this sense, it is defended the idea that the Convention 187 of the ILO is an important legality field that will be able to contribute, if ratified, to promote occupational health in Brazil. This infers that Brazil, through the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil and subsequent infra-constitutional laws (especially Law 8080/90), it has already initiated a standardization in which the prevention of occupational health should be carried out taking into account all the factors involved in the work environment. Such a prevention is in line with a new tutelage paradigm, which advocates the protection of the work environment in its full sense (emerging paradigm). However, it is identified that the current Brazilian model presents obstacles, seen as challenges, to a full protection of the work environment. These obstacles are mainly represented by the threshold limit values, the victim-blaming and the culture of PPE. Through the research, four elements can be identified in the ILO Convention 187 that may contribute to improving the tutelage for occupational health in Brazil, and consequently for a transition of paradigm in prevention. They are: 1) respect to a safe and healthy work environment, 2) active participation of workers, 3) rights system with defined responsibilities and duties, 4) highest priority to the principle of prevention.

Utilization of Preventative Care Services by African Americans Post-Affordable Care ActMcKnight, Madalyn 01 January 2019 (has links)
Preventative care services allow patients to be fully equipped with the knowledge, tools, and other resources to help them discover and treat many diseases and illnesses so that the burden of costs will not fall on patients and their families. Since the passage of the Affordable Care of Act (ACA) by President Barack Obama, the requirement for health insurance coverage has not translated to utilization of preventative care services. The purpose of this study is to determine the motivation for African Americans who have insurance coverage and access to care who are not taking advantage of opportunities for screenings and health education. The health belief model was used to determine how belief and modifying factors influence health decisions. The quantitative study required use of a secondary dataset to determine utilization of preventative care services, insurance affordability, future access to care and understanding of the health care law. The study included testing the statistical significance of these factors among African Americans, White Americans, and Hispanic Americans who participated in the Healthy Americas Survey. Using the program SPSS to process data analyzation and organize output, results reveal that African American participants are concerned about the future ability to access and afford care. With a history of distrust amongst African Americans and the health industry, social implications are for administrators and providers to bridge the gap by offering health education to those in their immediate communities and requesting and implementing feedback from those same individuals.

Use of Six Sigma for Eliminating Missed Opportunities for Prevention ServicesGittner, Lisaann S., Husaini, Baqar A., Hull, Pamela C., Emerson, Janice S., Tropez-Sims, Suzanne, Reece, Michelle C., Zoorob, Roger, Levine, Robert S. 01 January 2015 (has links)
Delivery of primary care preventative services can be significantly increased utilizing Six Sigma methods. Missed preventative service opportunities were compared in the study clinic with the community clinic in the same practice. The study clinic had 100% preventative services, compared with only 16.3% in the community clinic. Preventative services can be enhanced to Six Sigma quality when the nurse executive and medical staff agree on a single standard of nursing care executed via standing orders.

Impact of preventative fungicide practices on Mid-South soybean (Glycine max) grain development, quality, and economic returnFloyd, Chase Alan 03 May 2019 (has links)
The need for profitable soybean production practices gain continually with increasing input costs and reduced profit margins. Constant cultivar and product developments has resulted in limited current data available regarding the profitability of preventative fungicide applications and physiological benefits that can occur from these applications. Research was conducted during 2017 and 2018 to determine optimal fungicide application timing, while assessing multiple fungicide options and resulting effect on soybean grain yield, seed quality, and profitability. Additional research was conducted to determine optimal row spacing, planting date and fungicide application combinations to maximize soybean production profitability. These data suggest using multi-mode of action fungicide treatments increased soybean grain yield, regardless of application timing. These data also suggest, profitability from application of multi-mode of action fungicides can be observed at lower adjusted market prices.

Effects of Television Weather Broadcasters on Viewers During Severe Weather: To Be or Not To Be On-ScreenLea, Amanda Marie 15 December 2012 (has links)
An association was tested between the presence of a television weather broadcaster on-screen and viewers’ likelihood to seek shelter, measured via risk perception and preventative behavior. Social networking websites were used to recruit respondents. Four clips of archived severe weather videos, one pair (on-screen and off-screen broadcaster) using the reflectivity product and another pair (on-screen and off-screen broadcaster) using velocity product, were presented to participants. Viewers’ trust and weather salience were also quantified for additional interactions. A relationship between viewers’ risk perception (preflectivity = 0.821, pvelocity = 0.625) and preventative behavior (preflectivity = 0.217, pvelocity = 0.236) and the presence of the broadcaster on-screen was not found. The reflectivity product was associated with higher risk perception and preventative behavior scores than the velocity product (prp = 0.000, ppb = 0.000).
