The hospital environment is orientated for the cure of diseases, while the individual that falls ill is forgotten in his anguish, expectations, fears. The fantastic narratives can be profitable in the search for the attention of this patient’s fantasy, since they stand out among the rest of the literary production by affecting its interlocutor in unconscious and conscious levels, allowing the “recognition” of its deepest contents. The objective of our study is to understand the hospitalized patient’s fantasy in it’s relation with a fantastic narrative. The psychoanalytical method was adopted for the achievement of the study, since it is implicated in a vision of man that presupposes the presence of a living unconscious in the human being, as well as in its productions. It was realized 10 interviews with patients between 18 and 60 years old interned in the Santa Casa de Misericórdia of Assis. To apprehend the fantasies of the patients in their relation with a fantastic narrative demanded the development of innovative research strategies, therefore, it was selected the tale “O rosto atrás do rosto”, from Marina Colasanti, to be narrated by the researcher during the interview. The analysis was realized in order to contemplate the peculiarity of certain interviews, that had been discussed separately. It was then manifested the interviewee’s concerns regarding the damages, “real” and “imagined”, suffered. The affective dimension also appears when they report the difficulties by the withdrawal of the family nucleus. The most frequent or the more emphasized subjects in the interviewee’s speech have also been analyzed in a joint manner... (Complete abstract click electronic access below)

Individual behaviour towards authority

Levy, Kathryn Anne 03 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to explore individual behaviour towards authority. The psychodynamic and phenomenological paradigms are used. Unstructured interviews, conducted on five female consultants, produced themes that provide possible insight into individual behaviour towards authority. These themes were; 'daddy and mommy's little girl', need for attention, approval, to not disappoint and sibling rivalry; anxiety and the use of defense mechanisms; conditions for acceptance and/or comfort; dependency for support; clear and/or rigid boundaries; split in experience towards authority; fear of authority; power struggle; and counterdependency. These themes suggest that individual's project and transfer feelings, fantasies, expectations and wishes of their experiences with their parents, their earliest authority figures, onto other authority figures, for example, their managers. The hypothesis generated was "past experiences with authority figures influences individual experiences and hence behaviour towards present authority figures". / Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)

The experience of organisational development consultants working in the systems psychodynamic stance

Myburg, Hester Susanna 11 1900 (has links)
When working from the systems psychodynamic stance, consultants experience that they become part of the group dynamics through projection, projective identification, transference and counter-transference. This research was undertaken to explore the impact on consultants doing systems psychodynamic consultation in their own formal system within a large financial institution in South Africa. Findings were that primary (race, gender and age), and secondary (social identity, language and skills, or level of expertise in this consulting stance) diversity factors strongly impact on them. Consultants play a strong containment role. Consultants experienced the effect at all levels of their lives, including intellectual (struggling to function and think clearly), physical (insomnia, eating disorders, usual exercise not helping), emotional (crying and anger) and social (their work not being understood by friends and family, growing apart from loved ones). For all of them the positive spin-off was the personal growth on the journey that they embarked on. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M. Comm. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

Intergroup relations in organisations

Wrogemann, Gail Cynthia 25 August 2009 (has links)
The problem statement of this research is, "What is the· basis of the intergroup relations that potentially lead to ineffective work behaviour, and how does it manifest in groups within a specific consulting organisation, in terms of the premises of the Tavistock model of group relations?" The psychodynamic approach, psychoanalytic technique, open systems theory and object relations theory were used. The unstructured interview and hermeneutic approach were used for collection of data, and analysis and interpretation. The results of the research indicate that groups, in interaction with other groups, may install defences against anxieties which could undermine the success of their work efforts .. Issues of ' . ' nonclarity of task, group boundary and identity issues, authority issues and reactions of projection seemed prevalent. Various hypotheses were developed which could be used as a basis for further research. / Industrial and Organisation Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)
