Transformational Leadership in the Chinese Culture : A Quantitative Study on the Impact of Transformational Leadership on Chinese Internet Companies’ PerformanceSakat, Mohamed-Amine, Ye, Lingyu January 2021 (has links)
Abstract Linnaeus University – Campus Kalmar School of Business and Economics Leadership and Management in International Contexts (60 credits) Title: Transformational Leadership in the Chinese Culture – A Quantitative Study on the Impact of Transformational Leadership on Chinese Internet Companies’ Performance. This research aims to study how transformational leadership affects organizational performance and the mediation effect of employee voice behaviour. A quantitative research method and a deductive research approach were used for this research study, where theoretical concepts were developed. Several hypotheses were derived as means to test the existing theories regarding research variables. The data in this research was collected through a 384 completed online survey questionnaire from employees of the top ten listed Chinese internet companies. Various statistical techniques, including Pearson correlation analysis, linear regression analysis, and mediation effect testing, were implemented to provide evidence for hypothesis testing. The statistical analysis results indicate that a particular dimension of transformational leadership positively impacts Chinese internet companies’ performance, and employee voice behaviour has a partial mediation effect in this relationship.

Integration of promotive, preventive and curative health care services in public hospitals and health centres of Addis Ababa, EthiopiaNetsanet Fetene Wendimagegn 02 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore the level of integration of health promotion and disease prevention services with the curative care provided at hospitals and health centres in Addis Ababa, and to propose recommendations that could improve such an integrated health service. A quantitative approach, using an exploratory and descriptive design was applied at 22 public health facilities in Addis Ababa followed by the Delphi technique to reach consensus on ways to improve the integration of health promotion, preventive and curative care. An integrated health service (IHS) framework was used as the conceptual framework upon which the study was based.
Multistage sampling involving stratified simple random sampling was applied to select hospitals and health centres while a systematic sampling technique was used to sample patients from the outpatient and inpatient medical departments. Data was collected by means of two questionnaires from patients and health service managers, respectively, following which two Delphi rounds with experts resulted in agreement on a contextually accepted integrated framework.
The findings revealed that promotive and preventive services for chronic diseases were not optimally integrated in the routine health care services of the health facilities. Most health facilities lacked skilled health professionals, adequate medication and equipment to provide a comprehensive integrated service.
The study emphasized the need for health service providers to undergo a paradigm shift and additional training in order to provide a comprehensive, patient-centred, integrated health service instead of only treating patients’ complaints. To assist this approach, the study affirmed the Integrated Health Service (IHS) framework as a tool which
comprehensively demonstrates the cause, effect and progression of chronic diseases and the appropriate interventions which health professionals can apply in managing diseases or their risk factors.
Recommendations for effective, integrated promotive and preventive health care, included the development of guidelines, protocols and policy documents for cultivating a healthy lifestyle, adopting effective disease prevention approaches, re-designing medical school curriculums, and staffing health facilities with trained and specialized staff, capacitating health facilities with the necessary equipment, medication and supplies that would enable the provision of an integrated health care service.
Background: Work related illness is based on the growth of psychiatric diagnosis. By working preventive and promotive in the workplace, the work related health can be strengthened and developed. Given that workplace health promotion has a strong link to work effectiveness, this health work needs to be emphasized. Due to the fact that the 2015 refugee flow resulted in a high workload for integration workers, this study found an interest in studying health promotion features at a municipal receiving unit for new arrivals. Purpose: To study whether employees on a receiving unit for new arrivals experienced health promotive factors at their workplace. Method: The study was implemented by using a qualitative method. Interviews of nine fulltime employees represented the results. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed with a content analysis. Results: Work task, social community, opportunity for participation, capacity building, leadership and daily health promotion activities at work time was proven to be substantial health promoting factors at the workplace. Conclusion: Because of the linkage to sence of coherence, savoring and empowerment, the activities were related as health promotive factors. The factors are important given that they can positively improve employee health. Henceforth it is vital that these factors can be strengthened and maintained to promote integration work.

Parent-Child Relations as Protective and Promotive Factors for Ethnic Minority Children Living in Relative Poverty : A systematic literature reviewLarsson, Anna January 2019 (has links)
Ethnic minority children living in relative poverty are a high-risk group for poor outcomes in all aspects of wellbeing. The relationship and interactions between child and parent are a key part of child development and a platform for providing positive experiences which can benefit a child’s wellbeing. There is therefore a need to identify what facilitates wellbeing for ethnic minority children in low-socioeconomic status families. By focusing on protective and promotive factors encompassing the parent-child relationship, factors can be identified which can use family strengths as a basis for interventions and practice within healthcare, social work and education, which is what this systematic literature review set out to do. Through a diligent search of the literature, 12 articles were identified for review according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, containing research on African American, Roma, Native American and Hispanic/Latino youth. The results inform how child wellbeing can be facilitated through several parental factors, including parental involvement and support, maternal attachment, paternal warmth and ethnic identity and ethnic socialization. The findings also indicate a need for further studies on paternal influence on wellbeing in especially Native American and Roma youth, as well as the impact of ethnic socialization on youth wellbeing. Parents have an important role to play in child wellbeing and are vital partners alongside the child when planning interventions. Considerations naturally need to be shown for each ethnic minority, the child’s setting and its individual characteristics.

Promotion of adolescent mental health through a social and emotional learning programme in South African high schoolsMfidi, Faniswa Honest 11 1900 (has links)
Reports on the escalation of violence in South African schools have been a cause for concern. The Media have reported a high incidence of adolescent anger towards and fights with peers, family members and school teachers. Alcohol and drug abuse, risky sexual behaviours and gang related activities are also noted as a concern among school-going adolescents. These behaviours are precursors to mental health problems among school-going adolescents and prompted the researcher to carry out an investigation on how high schools promote the mental health of their learners.
A sequential explanatory mixed methods approach was used to explore the experiences of school-going adolescents, school teachers and school health nurses in dealing with social and emotional problems in high schools. An event history calendar was used to collect both the quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was used with school going adolescents, whereas, qualitative data in the form of focus groups was used with school nurses and individual interviews was used with school teachers. Qualitative individual interviews were also used with a subset of school going adolescents to augment the quantitative results. The two sets of data were analysed independently and only at interpretation of findings were they collated and integrated. Quantitative data analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics whilst content analysis and thematic analysis were used with qualitative data. Major findings of the study revealed that adolescents’ problems manifested themselves as inappropriate handling of emotions which resulted in drug and alcohol abuse, risky sexual behaviours and gangsterism which adversely impacted on the adolescents’ social-emotional well-being and mental health. A universal prevention and promotion programme through social and emotional learning to address the social and emotional ailments of adolescents that
impede mental health promotion in high schools was proposed. The “TEAM” intervention proposes the promotion of positive peer relationships through the use of positive gangs in a safe, caring and cooperative school climate. The intervention would also capacitate adolescents with prosocial skills and values that would yield positive outcomes for greater academic and life successes generally. The study recommends the use of the proposed ‘TEAM’ intervention in schools for mental health promotion. / Health Studies / D. Litt. et Phil. (Health Studies)
