In relation to this kind of musical work produced in Brazil, authors like João Dias de Araújo, Jaci Maraschin and others are mentioned. This thesis also intends to stimulate a reflection on two theological legacies. The first one arrived in Brazil with the missionaries who came from United States in the beginning of the nineteenth century, and the second is the one left by the first hymn book edited in Brazil called Psalms and Hymns. / Esta tese tem como foco a influência da Teologia da Libertação na música protestante feita no Brasil durante as décadas de 1960, 1970 e 1980 e as possíveis razões que este contexto religioso em questão teve a ainda tem dificuldades em desenvolver uma canção que trate de assuntos relacionados com temas sociais, como é proposto pela Teologia da Libertação. Com relação a este tipo de trabalho musical produzido no Brasil, autores como João Dias de Araújo, Jaci Maraschin e outros são mencionados. Esta tese tem também a intenção de estimular a reflexão em torno de dois legados teológicos. O primeiro é aquele que chegou ao Brasil com os missionários vindos dos Estados Unidos no começo do século dezenove, e o segundo é aquele deixado pelo primeiro hinário editado no Brasil chamado Salmos e Hinos.

Since the beginning of our project we were aware of the difficulty entering in such a unique universe, but we sought this goal as a challenge to understand a little more of the Protestant faith in an ethnic setting.We wanted to understand if the gospel we have here in the city of São Paulo is the same as the Terena Indians have. And beyond, we sought for more elements of faith that could demonstrate uniqueness between these two very different communities geographically and sociologically speaking eg: the dogma of Trinity, baptism rites, liturgy, singing and preaching evangelistic message among other issues. We concluded the research strongly influenced by the beautiful images and pleasant readings and convinced that the Christianity taught and practiced by the early church as we can see in the book of Acts of the Apostles is very much alive in the 21st century between the Terena. We understand that the people and the cultures aren t the same, but the gospel and their practices are worked the same way. We found the Church UNIEDAS in the village of Bananal and we met with its leadership, the current cacique and former chiefs. Besides, we talked to many indigenous pastors. In doing that we realized that they have an immense gratitude to God because they are "true believers" of have a beautiful history and felling that they are determined to lead this process of evangelization to other "fellow countrymen". The UNIEDAS is present on Brazilian soil since the early twentieth century. The process began with the pioneers of ISAMU and SAIM men. There was conflict at the beginning of the Protestant formation of Terenas and the case of the chief Marcolino Wollily is well reported by Cardoso Oliveira e Silva Altenfelder in his work in the 50s and 60s showing some political issues involving SPI. / Desde o início de nosso projeto tínhamos a certeza da dificuldade em adentrar um universo tão intrínseco. Buscamos pesquisar este grupo pelo desafio de entender um pouco da fé protestante em um ambiente étnico. Queríamos entender se o evangelho que temos aqui na cidade de São Paulo é o mesmo dos índios terena e, além do mais, buscar elementos de fé que demonstrassem unicidade por exemplo: dogma da trindade, batismo, ceia litúrgica, canto pregação e mensagem evangelística entre outras questões. Saímos da pesquisa bastante influenciados pelas belas imagens e leituras prazerosas; a certeza é que o cristianismo ensinado e praticado pelas igrejas primitivas do livro de Atos dos apóstolos está bem vivo no século 21 entre os terenas. Entendemos que mudam os povos e suas respectivas culturas, mas o evangelho e suas práticas são trabalhadas da mesma forma. Conhecemos a Igreja UNIEDAS na Aldeia do Bananal e nos reunimos com a liderança: cacique, ex-caciques além de pastores indígenas... muitos pastores, pudemos perceber que eles têm uma gratidão imensa a Deus pelo fato de serem crentes por terem uma bela história e sentirem-se determinados a levar este processo de evangelização para outros patrícios . A UNIEDAS está presente em solo brasileiro desde o início do século XX. O processo inicia-se com os pioneiros da ISAMU e com homens da SAIM. Houve confronto no início da formação protestante dos Terenas, e o caso do cacique Marcolino Wollily é bem relatado de questões políticas envolvendo o SPI, Cardoso Oliveira e Altenfelder Silva mostram isto em suas obras na década de 50 e 60.

Two objectives were set for this study: a) Explain how sexuality has been represented in the patristic and classical theology of Protestantism; b) Investigate how sexuality has been represented in the published literature and academic research on the topic in the Brazilian Protestantism, especially in the so-called sexual pedagogy of Protestantism. As theoretical frameworks, the author used Prócoro Velasques Filho (O Comportamento Protestante), Robinson Cavalcanti (Uma Bênção Chamada Sexo, Libertação e Sexualidade) and Antônio Máspoli de Araújo Gomes (As Representações Sociais do Corpo e da Sexualidade no Protestantismo Brasileiro). The researcher worked through the method of literary bibliographical research. / A presente pesquisa, numa abordagem histórico-teológica, analisa a pedagogia sexual no protestantismo brasileiro por meio da literatura publicada sobre este tema para o consumo dos membros de igreja. Foram traçados dois objetivos para este trabalho: a) Explicitar como a sexualidade foi representada na patrística e na teologia clássica do Protestantismo; b) Investigar como a sexualidade tem sido representada na produção editorial e acadêmica sobre o tema no Protestantismo brasileiro, especialmente na chamada pedagogia sexual do Protestantismo. It has as intention to present an introduction to the Calvin s hermeneutics. It calls attention for the fact of that although the great contribution of Calvin, its hermeneutics still is, in many aspects, stranger in Brazil. The author makes an attempt to establish the influences on Calvin s thought that had contributed for his hermeneutics. It continues demonstrating the importance of the authority of the Bible for Calvin. After that he presents the main points of Calvin s hermeneutics and for a better understanding, he divides them in presuppositions, principles and approaches. In the last chapter the focus is in an analysis of Calvin s hermeneutics, having the modern study of Psalms as aid. Finally, it presents an attempt of dialogue between Calvin s hermeneutics and contemporary Brazilian Protestantism. This dialogue is presented in the form of some challenges. / Neste trabalho, o autor procura resgatar a leitura que Calvino fez dos Salmos de lamento. Ele tem como propósito apresentar uma introdução à hermenêutica de Calvino. Ele chama atenção para o fato de que apesar da grande contribuição de Calvino, sua hermenêutica ainda é, em muitos aspectos, desconhecida no Brasil. O autor faz uma tentativa de estabelecer as influências sobre o pensamento de Calvino que contribuíram para a sua hermenêutica. Ele prossegue demonstrando a importância da autoridade da Bíblia para Calvino, em seguida, apresenta os pontos principais da hermenêutica de Calvino e, para uma melhor compreensão, divide-os em pressupostos, princípios e enfoques. No último capítulo, se propõe a fazer uma análise da hermenêutica de Calvino de forma mais focada, tendo o estudo moderno dos Salmos como ajuda. Finalmente, ele apresenta uma tentativa de diálogo entre a hermenêutica de Calvino e o protestantismo brasileiro, diálogo este apresentado em forma de alguns desafios.

Besides Humanism, what other social-historical and cultural factors were determinatives for the creation of the Didática Magna? This study aims to show the influence of the Christian Protestant humanist's thinking on the work of João Amós Comenius', Didática Magna approaching the historical questions of the Christian Humanism, distinguishing the personalities and events with focus on the XV and XVI century, in Central and Northern Europe, establishing a tie with the Reformation and identifying the difference between Christian and Secular humanism. Finally, this study carries through an approach on the pedagogical concepts Christian Protestant humanists assimilated by Comenius and how his work was kept true by these thinkers. / Qual a relação entre os humanistas cristãos protestantes do século XVI na Europa central e setentrional e o pensamento metodológico-pedagógico de Comenius? Além do Humanismo que outros fatores histórico-sociais e culturais foram determinantes para a criação da Didática Magna? Este estudo procura mostrar a influência do pensamento humanista cristão protestante sobre a obra Didática Magna de João Amós Comenius, abordando-se as questões históricas do humanismo cristão, destacando-se às personalidades e acontecimentos com foco nos séculos XV e XVI, na Europa central e setentrional, estabelecendo vínculo com a Reforma e identificando a distinção entre o humanismo cristão e o secular. Finalmente, este estudo realiza uma abordagem dos conceitos pedagógicos de autores humanistas cristãos protestantes assimilados por Comenius e como sua obra se manteve fiel a esses pensadores.

O objetivo da presente tese é oferecer um levantamento documental acerca da produção musical evangélica no Brasil. Em termos teológicos e institucionais, o protestantismo procurou evidenciar mais os elementos que uniam as diferentes denominações do que os que as diferenciavam, e essa característica transparece na produção musical, uma vez que há livre trânsito de cantores e compositores entre igrejas e empresas do ramo e o repertório musical é basicamente um só, oriundo da tradição norte-americana da chamada era missionária, ocorrida em meados do século XIX e uma posterior produção nacional, mantendo os mesmos padrões musicais e literários. Considerando os anos de 1930 a 1990, época anterior à produção e distribuição digital da música, em que predominavam os LPs, os famosos bolachões, a pesquisa foi realizada em gravadoras e rádios das cidades de São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro através de um mapeamento exaustivo de todo material disponível. Foi criado um banco de dados no Access - Microsoft, onde foram cadastrados 965 álbuns, 9370 canções e 6269 artistas, além de várias outras informações. Foi gerado um relatório que procurou contemplar a maior quantidade possível de dados, porém, para efetivo conhecimento do trabalho, recomenda-se a consulta direta ao banco de dados, disponível em CD-rom. / The objective of the present thesis is to offer a documental survey about the evangelical musical production in Brazil. In theological and institutional terms, Protestantism tried to make more evident the element that united the different denominations than the elements that made them different, and this caracteristic was made clear in the musical production, once there is free transit of singers and composers in churches and companies and the musical repertoire is basically only one, which comes from the North- American tradition of the so called missionary era in the middle of the XIX century and a later national production, maintaining the same literary and musical standarts. Considering the period between 1930 and 1990, a period before the musical production and digital distribution, in which the LPs predominated, the research was carried out in recorders and radio station in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro cities through an intensive registration of all the available material. A database was created in the Access software - Microsoft, where 965 albums, 9370 songs and 6269 artists were registered, in addition to many other pieces of information. A report was produced to provide the largest possible quantity of dada, nerthless, in order to reach effective knowledge and understanding of the research, a consult of the database, available in CD-rom, is recommended.

This work has the goal of learning about the homosexual experience inside the Inclusive Missionary Church – the first inclusive community of Alagoas located in the district of Poço, in the city of Maceió. Looking at some aspects of a christian morality, this work, through the usage of a case study, problematizes the human conflicts that exist inside the denomination and the process of building of its identity. As of the moral aspect, it is possible to perceive that the speech of the church shows a view of social adequacy, in an attempt of teaching a new perception about the homosexuality. This new perception, a sanctified one, guides the action of the individuals inside this space. The frequent search for social acknowledgment keeps the social actors of this church adapting their actions, all the time, to a christian worldview, reproducing, in many aspects, elements of a heteronormative segment, but meanwhile unlinking themselves from a biological-determinist discourse. Therefore it is possible to see as much elements of control of bodies and behaviors as means of sexual emancipation, especially with the belief of the freedom-of-speech, of the construction of emotional relationships guided by a matter of intimate preference. / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apreender a vivência homossexual dentro da Igreja Missionária Inclusiva - primeira comunidade cristã inclusiva de Alagoas situada no bairro do Poço, na cidade de Maceió. Observando aspectos de uma moralidade cristã, o trabalho, por meio de um estudo de caso, problematiza os conflitos humanos existentes dentro da denominação e o processo de construção de sua identidade. Quanto ao aspecto moral, constatou-se que o discurso da igreja transmite uma visão de adequação social, na tentativa de imprimir uma nova percepção acerca da homossexualidade. Essa nova percepção, santificada, norteia a ação dos indivíduos dentro desse espaço. A constante busca por reconhecimento social faz com que os atores sociais, desta igreja, estejam a todo o momento adequando suas ações a uma cosmovisão cristã, reproduzindo, em muitos aspectos, elementos de um segmento heteronormativo, mas ao mesmo tempo, desvinculando-se de um discurso biológicodeterminista. Portanto é possível enxergar tanto elementos de controle dos corpos e condutas como também meios de emancipação sexual, sobretudo com a crença da livre-expressão, da construção de relacionamentos afetivos pautados por uma questão de gosto íntimo.

This work is registered in the middle of studies that approach the relations between culture, religion and modernity, mainly when related with the symbolic field. It is a exploratory research based on phenomenons´study . For that , it is used phenomenons´ study reduction and the eidética reduction as the orientations of Edmund Husserl. This thesis attempts to bring contributions to clarify elements presents in the construction, transformation and diffusion of the Protestantism, considering the protestant mystic as a religious phenomenon. The mystic experience is analyzed in the individual and collective point of view, once this work privileges a sociological perspective in interface with Psychology, the Anthropology and, less centrally, the Philosophy and History. As qualitative research and delimited by its object of study, the mysticism can initially be pointed as a direct relation between sacred and the loyal , recognized in this manner individually and for the group that belongs. As theoretical reference, among others authors, the ideas of sociologist Roger Bastide were used, confirming or to refuting its hypothesis that argues that one of the meanings of the mysticism could represent the emergency of the sacred savage. This expression assigns the presence of symbolic elements that are manifested in spontaneous or explosive way in the religious rituals. Processes as the secularizing and the laicização, caused by the institutionalization and modernity of the religion, cause the manifestation of sacred savage, showing the residues of the occult or apparently exactly latent social-cultural productions. The instruments used for the accomplishment of the research are stretches of characteristic literary compositions of the Protestantismo as The Pilgrim and the Pilgrim of authorship of John Bunyan, as well as periodicals and Brazilian evangelical periodic to the second half of century XIX: The Standard, Puritan a nd Christian Expositor, that transmitted conceptions of the Puritanism and the Pietism. Daily autobiographicals text and stretches of the missionaries complement the analysis. The work is placed historically in the antecedent period to the one of the Reformation, its development and unfoldings. The movements of English and American revival had been prioritized especially. in its respective influences in the imaginary and Brazilians religious practical. After careful reading, election and organization for unit of the analyzed data, it was firmed hypothesis that argues that the protestant mystic is a constituent element of the Protestantism, representing modalities of social meaning, among which the cultural mediations are distinguished between: reason /emotion; singularization/institucionalizing; fragmentation/unity; tradiction/inovation; e padronization/autonomy, expressing relations with the forms of power, social change and divergence of social-economic interests. It was verified the existence, mainly in the less privileged social classes of the population, of important ind ication of cultural approach betwen some religious practical elements of the centecostalism together whit the African and aboriginal symbolic field. It is suggested that new research could be made, disclosing to the meanings of the mystics forms of expression in the Brazilian Protestantism and its relations with the Pentecostalism. These investigations can clarify the processes of juxtaposition of distinct cultural elements in the Brazilians religious practical, as affirmed by Roger Bastide, and corroborated for this research. / A presente tese investiga as manifestações de misticismo no Protestantismo brasileiro, especialmente em seus primórdios, tendo como campo de observação a atividade missionária. Este trabalho registra-se em meio aos estudos que abordam as relações entre cultura, religião e modernidade, principalmente quanto ao campo simbólico. Trata-se de pesquisa exploratória fundamentada no método fenomenológico. Para tanto, utiliza-se a redução fenomenológica e a redução eidética conforme as orientações de Edmund Husserl. Esta tese procura trazer contribuições para esclarecer elementos presentes na construção, transformação e difusão do Protestantismo, considerando a mística protestante como fenômeno religioso. A experiência mística é analisada do ponto de vista individual e coletivo, uma vez que este trabalho privilegia uma perspectiva sociológica em interface com a Psicologia, a Antropologia e, menos centralmente, a Filosofia e a História. Como pesquisa qualitativa e delimitada por seu objeto de estudo, o misticismo pode ser inicialmente apontado como relação direta entre o sagrado e o fiel, reconhecida desta forma individualmente e pelo grupo a que pertence.Tomou-se como referência teórica, entre outros autores, as idéias do sociólogo Roger Bastide, procurando confirmar ou refutar sua hipótese que um dos significados do misticismo pudesse representar a emergência do sagrado selvagem. Esta expressão designa a presença de elementos simbólicos que se manifestam de modo espontâneo ou explosivo nos rituais religiosos. Processos como a secularização e a laicização, decorrentes da institucionalização e modernidade da religião, fazem manifestar o sagrado selvagem, revelando os resíduos das produções sócio -culturais aparentemente ocultas ou mesmo latentes.Os instrumentos utilizados para a realização da pesquisa são trechos de obras literárias características do Protestantismo como A Peregrina e O Peregrino de autoria de John Bunyan, bem como jornais e periódicos evangélicos brasileiros referentes à segunda metade do século XIX: O Estandarte, Puritano e Expositor Cristão, que transmitiam concepções do Puritanismo e do Pietismo. Trechos de diários dos missionários e textos autobiográficos de pastores complementam a análise. O trabalho situa-se historicamente no período antecedente ao da Reforma, seu desenvolvimento e desdobramentos. Priorizaram-se especialmente os movimentos de reavivamento inglês e americano. em suas respectivas influências no imaginário e nas práticas religiosas brasileiras. Após cuidadosa leitura, seleção e organização por unidade de sentido dos dados analisados, firmou-se a hipótese de que a mística protestante é um elemento constitutivo do Protestantismo, representando modalidades de significação social, entre as quais destacam-se as mediações culturais entre: razão/emoção; ingularização/institucionalização; fragmentação/unidade; tradição/inovação; e padronização/automia, expressando relações com as formas de poder, mudança social e divergência de interesses sócio-econômicos.Verificou-se a existência, principalmente nas camadas socialmente menos privilegiadas da população, de indícios relevantes de aproximação cultural entre alguns elementos de práticas religiosas do Pentecostalismo vinculadas ao campo simbólico africano e indígena. Sugere-se que novas pesquisas sejam realizadas, revelando os significados das formas de expressão místicas no Protestantismo brasileiro e suas relações com o Pentecostalismo. Essas investigações podem clarificar os processos de justaposição de elementos culturais distintos nas práticas religiosas brasileiras, como afirmados por Roger Bastide, e corroborados por esta pesquisa.

As such, in the first part, by means of a bibliographic review and a study of sermons by some of the first American missionaries and national preachers, it analyzes the religious movements that formed the theological matrix of the protestant mission and are responsible for the characterization of its preaching. Second, by means of field research and analysis of contemporary sermons, the research discerns variations in the protestant theological matrix of mission, understood in terms of its current preaching. Third, upon defining the primary aspects of national identity, it will confront the principle characteristics of the Brazilian protestant mission of preaching, and thus identify some socio-religious consequences deriving from these agreements and disagreements that result from the two phenomena. Finally, based on the results of the research and what has been written about the topic, some ways will be suggested for a homiletic that takes into account Brazilian identity as a basic element for reflection and practice and thus allowing for the elaboration of sermons that are not only done by Brazilians but for Brazilians. / A presente pesquisa tem como propósito maior identificar as consequências sócioreligiosas que se dão no encontro entre a prédica protestante de missão e os principais marcos de referência da identidade brasileira. Para tanto, num primeiro momento, analisa os movimentos religiosos que fomentaram a matriz teológica do protestantismo de missão responsável pela caracterização de sua prédica por meio de revisão bibliográfica e estudo dos sermões de alguns dos primeiros missionários americanos e pregadores nacionais. Num segundo momento, por meio de pesquisa de campo e análise de sermões contemporâneos, a pesquisa identifica as variações da matriz teológica do protestantismo de missão e os reflexos consequentes em sua prédica atual. Ao definir, num terceiro momento, os principais aspectos da identidade nacional, confronta-os com as principais características da prédica protestante de missão brasileira, identificando algumas das consequências sócio-religiosas provenientes dos encontros e desencontros que se dão entre os dois fenômenos. Por fim, baseado nos resultados da pesquisa e no que se tem escrito sobre o tema, aponta-se alguns caminhos para uma ciência homilética que considera a identidade brasileira como elemento basilar de sua reflexão e práxis.
