Burnoutpräventive Mitarbeiterführung im Kontext des Rings Missionarischer Jugendbewegungen in Deutschland / Burnout preventative employee-leadership in the context of the ''Ring Missionarischer Jugendbewegungen'' in GermanySchmidt, Heiko (Theologian) 02 1900 (has links)
This research investigates aspects of leading employees who have experienced burn-out. The aims
of this theoretical and empirical research are to determine whether there are leadership styles that
can prevent or stop burn-out and to establish principles to accomplish this. An overview of research
to date concerning burnout and preventative measures of leaders is taken as point of departure, also
reflecting biblical and theological aspects of these topics. The main research focus is on interviews
with leaders from non-profit-organisations that belong to the Ring Missionarischer
Jugendbewegungen (a German umbrella organisation for youth mission organisations). Four
hypotheses are examined. Based on the results, the research aims to offer support to leaders who
have human resource responsibilities and who wish to prevent burnout in their staff. This qualitative
study also aims to create appropriate and professional awareness of the topic of burnout and its
prevention by leaders and to serve as a basis for the development of a burnout-preventative
leadership model. / Systematic Theology & Theological Ethics / M. Th. (Theological Ethics)

Spirituality, medical science and health : the spiritual effects of a sense of entitlement in the ministry of healing in the Christian ChurchMartin, Marlene Lorraine 25 June 2014 (has links)
The human trait of entitlement, although currently very topical, has only recently come under serious scrutiny by behavioural psychologists (Campbell, Bonacci, Shelton, Exline & Bushman 2004:30). This study examines the modifying effects of these psychological elements on the spiritual aspects of disease and healing. Other modifiers are the personal spiritual beliefs or dogmas of the clergy within the paradigm of a particular denomination, and the beliefs and expectations of the adherents.
Two Christian denominations were chosen for the study: The Methodist Church of Southern Africa, in particular the home church of the writer, The Bedfordview Methodist Church, and Afmin, an organisation that trains and equips students, mainly African, for Christian ministry. Structured face to face interviews were conducted with pastors and church leaders, interviews with medical professionals were conducted and a wide ranging review of relevant literature undertaken.
It was found that while the trait of entitlement was a constant in human nature, there were modifying factors. These included the personal beliefs of pastors and youth leaders, often founded on personal experience instead of denominational dogma. The influence of Pentecostal / Charismatic teaching was very evident. It was also found that the church, in a drive to become increasingly relevant to current norms and social trends, tended to have a rather confused understanding of biblical healing and the role of God in disease and suffering.
While the inevitability of death, suffering and disease cannot be denied, the role of the church is complex and controversial. Unrealistic expectations, based on teaching that encourages a sense of entitlement can lead to great challenges regarding faith in both the clergy and adherents. / Christian Spirituality, Church History & Missiology / D. Riglyne vir die ontwerp van 'n terapeutiese program vir oudlede van destruktiewe kultes / Guidelines for the design of a therapeutic programme for ex-members of destructive cultsVenter, Maria Adriana 11 1900 (has links)
bewussyn waaronder dissasiasie, psigagene amnesie, depersanalisasie, derealisasie, hipnose
saamgestel. / The aim of this study is to ascertain whether a need exists for specific therapeutic guidelines for
ex-members of destructive cults. This study is intended to work complementary to existing
therapeutic techniques.
The point of departure of this study is that the influence that the process of mind control can
have on a person, should be taken into consideration in therapy. During the literature study
and personal contact with ex-cult members it was found that even years after they had left the
cult, individuals still suffered from the consequences of mind control. Apparently problems are
not solved before insight is gained into the way in which deception and control has taken place.
For a therapist it would thus be necessary to gain insight into the relationship that exists
between psychological problems that people experience and mind control before therapy can be
successfully undertaken.
Initially the definitions and characteristics of cults are discussed. The personality, methods of
exercising control and the relationships of the typical cult leader are discussed. Factors that
can make a person more vulnerable to recruitment are discussed and a distinction is made between
the two main influencing strategies in cults, namely brainwashing and mind control. The course of
the process of mind control is discussed, as well as the personal disadvantages of
membership to cults.
The following psychological processes which can be present in mind control, are discussed, namely:
attitudes, persuasion, cognitive dissonance and conditions of altered consciousness, i.e. dissociation, psychogenic amnesia, depersonalisation, derealisation, hypnosis
and
suggestion.
In order to obtain more accurate information about the typical ex-cult member, interviews were
conducted with a sample group of six persons. For the sake of qualitative deepening, in-depth
studies were conducted with two of these persons. On the basis of the information that was
obtained from the literature study and from the sample group, guidelines for the design of a
therapeutic program for ex-cultists are presented. / Psychology of education / D. Ed. (Sielkundige Opvoedkunde)

Ethnic differences in spiritual intelligence: a study in a multicultural contextShanto, Diana January 2016 (has links)
Text in English / This study investigates the nature of spiritual intelligence and its link to ethnic identity, and gauges the difference across the main ethnic groups in Mauritius. A new scale, the Multicultural Spiritual Intelligence Scale (MSIS) was proposed, using the following six dimensions: self-awareness, transcendental awareness, levels of consciousness, the quest for meaning, sensitivity, and resilience. The MSIS was developed and tested using a cross-sectional survey research design with the option of completing a paper or online version, administered to a sample of 1,177 adult participants in Mauritius. This research looked at the three major ethnic groups in Mauritius: Hindu-Mauritians, Creole-Mauritians, and Muslim-Mauritians, and examined their conceptions of spiritual intelligence and ethnic identification. A factor analysis was conducted on the scale and five specific factors: self-mastery, transcendental awareness, spiritual sensitivity, resilience, and the existential quest. These factors emerged with factor loadings greater than 0.35. The MSIS’s construct validity was tested with other similar scales, particularly Meaning in Life (MLQ) (Steger et al., 2006), the Connor-Davison Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) (Connor & Davidson, 2011), Private Self-Consciousness (PSC) (Scheir & Carver, 1985), and New Indices of Religious Orientation (NIRO) (Francis, 2007). The Balanced Inventory of Desirable Responding (BIDR) (Paulhus, 1991) was also included to check for social desirable responses and MSIS’s divergent validity. A Welch ANOVA revealed a statistical difference in spiritual intelligence among the ethnic groups: Welch’s F (2, 639.98) = 3.923. Spearman’s rank order correlation revealed that ethnic identification was connected to spiritual intelligence: rs (98) = 0.52, p < 0.0005. A Games-Howell post-hoc analysis indicated a statistically significant mean difference between Muslim-Mauritians and Hindu Mauritians (0.27, 95% CI [0.083, 0.45]) and between Muslim-Mauritians and Creole Mauritians (0.44, 95% CI [0.25, 0.62]). The Muslim-Mauritians obtained the highest score in both ethnic exploration and ethnic commitment. Ethnic identification implied a prior quest for identity, which was connected with spiritual development. A second study was conducted on a sample of 303 participants using a shorter version of MSIS to confirm the five-factor model. Implications for further research include analysing the MSIS in terms of other constructs and using the MSIS with other minority groups in Mauritius. / Psychology / D.Litt et Phil. (Psychology)

Dekonstruksie van die invloed van die sosiale diskoers "Godsdiens": 'n individuele narratief / Deconstruction of the influence of the social discourse "religion": an individual narrativeNaudé, Susanna Sophia 02 1900 (has links)
In hierdie verhandeling reflekteer ek oor my godsdiensdiskoers en die invloed
daarvan op my lewe, beide as persoon en as terapeut. My werk vind 'n nis in
In my navorsing kry ek te
Hierdie kennis stel my in staat om nuwe
In this dissertation I reflect on my religious discourse, its influence on my life
and how it affects me, both as a person and a therapist. It addresses a niche in
its approach to the 'silent, invisible people' whose stories are authored by the
discourses of a modernistic society. My research stumbles on all kinds of
problems that are generally associated with the practices of marginalisation.
Acting as both client and therapist, I enter into numerous interactive conversational
sessions with 'co-authors' of my story, afJ with different contexts and
horizons. This process crystallises in a liberating and multi-faceted truth. The
newly gained knowledge enables me to make new choices and formulate tor
myself an alternative story. This study illustrates not only how narrative practices
may empower the 'silent, invisible' products of a patemalistic society. It
also shows how therapists may benefit from the deconstruction of their own
story in both a personal and professional way. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. Th. (Pastoral Theology)

Ervaring van mag in konfessionele bybelse beradingTroskie, Mariza 30 November 2003 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / I wanted to investigate the way people experienced confessional pastoral therapy by conducting a qualitative research study. The role of the pastor were examined as well as the effect of discourses of power and ethics in pastoral counseling.
I interviewed clients who were counseled by pastors of the AFM Church (Apostolic Faith Mission). The research supposes that knowledge and power discourses have a major influence in pastoral counseling which is often not accounted for. I wanted to see how clients experienced the effects of these discourses of power and ethics. I furthermore wanted to see how these power discourses could result in clients feeling subordinate to the pastor and his knowledge and the effect that these feelings might have on them.
The purpose of this study was not to generalize the experiences of the participants, but rather to set a contextual background of the experiences of power in confessional pastoral counseling. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. Th. (Pastorale Terapie)

The integration of the Myers and Briggs type indicator in a marriage counselling approachPienaar, Jan Adriaan 30 April 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study is to determine the influence of personality type as described by Jungian personality theory on marriage problems and to determine the usability of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to solve problems in the understanding and appreciating of individual personality differences.
The research depicts the importance of self-awareness to maintain significant relationships. Self-awareness is conceptualised as an integral part of personality psychology. Accurate personality assessment is described as a means to gain accurate self-awareness.
A literature study is done on personality theories to discover what role they play in marriage counselling. The question - where does the personality theory of Jung fit into personality psychology and marriage counselling - is answered.
The Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator® as an application of Jungian personality theory and an assessment technique to gain accurate self-awareness is discussed.
A literature study of different marriage counselling approaches is presented and the focus of these approaches is discussed. None of these approaches used personality theory explicitly.
A marriage counselling approach is developed which integrates the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The approach has five pillars:
1. Developing mutual trust
2. Recognizing and accepting individual differences
3. Giving and receiving feedback
4. Solving problems
5. Letting go of the past
The research presents case studies, which confirm that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator does help individuals and couples to become self-aware and develop awareness of the differences between their personality types. This self-awareness helps to rebuild marital relationships. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / DTH (PRACTICAL THEOLOGY)

Duchovní potřeby a jejich naplňování u lidí s tělesným postižením / Meeting the Spiritual Needs of Disabled PersonsPOLÁKOVÁ, Zuzana January 2007 (has links)
The diploma thesis is concerned with the spiritual needs of disabled persons. The topic is based on the psychology of personality, characterizes human needs, and defines motivation, values and interests. Basic areas of psychology of religion and religious education follow. The educational view focuses on issues associated with the religiosity of human beings seeking aims for religious education. Further chapters are dedicated to disabled persons, describe basic types of such disability and based on the author´s personal experience they show the specificities of the life of disabled persons. The second part concentrates on meeting the spiritual needs. The thematic area gives rise to the methodological proposal for the didactic opening of the spiritual needs. Several didactic units containing individual lessons for a group of disabled persons form part of the thesis.
