<p>Syftet med studien var att undersöka på vilka sätt företag i Halmstads kommun arbetar hälsofrämjande. En enkätstudie gjordes på stora och medelstora företag i Halmstads kommun. Den ansvarige för hälsa och arbetsmiljö besvarade enkäten. Resultatet visade att av 34 företag satsade 31 stycken på friskvårdsbidrag, 23 stycken på ergonomiska åtgärder och 21 stycken på företagshälsovård, dessa var de främsta åtgärderna. Konsekvenser som lägre sjukfrånvaro och bättre hälsa gick att avläsa på flera företag. Det fanns även hinder för hälsofrämjande åtgärder såsom, tidsbrist, ekonomi och brist på motivation hos arbetstagarna. The results show that of 34 companies, 31 offer health promotion benefits, 23 actively work on improving the work environment by introducing ergonomic measures and 21 works with health services. The analysis indicates that by having these benefits and services in place, the absence due to sickness decreases while the employee’s health status increases. However, the study also found that there were difficulties in promoting health in these enterprises; mainly lack of time, economy and lack of motivation among employees. To further improve health promotion in work places we recommend educating responsible staff in particular and employees in general.</p>

Career expectations and requirements of undergraduate hospitality students and the hospitality industry: an analysis of differencesKim, Jung Hee (Ginny) January 2008 (has links)
The hospitality industry has seen rapid growth through the last three decades. The hospitality industry in New Zealand is still growing steadily. According to the Ministry of Tourism (2008, para. 3), “Visitor expenditure is forecast (from 2008 to 2014) to increase from $13.73 billion to $19.05 billion per annum, an increase of 41.4%” (Ministry of tourism, 2008b). Therefore, in response to the needs of the industry, training providers have established a number of hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism degrees (O'Mahony & Sillitoe, 2001). However, previous studies have identified that hospitality management degrees tend to lack importance in the actual world (Harkison, 2004a, 2004b; Steele; 2003). Hospitality management students seem to rate the value of their degrees higher than do employees in the industry (Collins, 2002; Raybould & Wilkins, 2005). Therefore, there are gaps between the expectations and assumptions of students and those of hospitality professionals, which have led to problems in the hospitality industry. This study has taken three steps to identify: 1) how career expectations, assumptions and requirements differ between undergraduate hospitality management students and management employees in the hospitality industry; 2) The working histories of managerial employees and their perceptions of the industry’s needs; 3) Establish the perceived value of hospitality management degrees amongst hospitality management undergraduate students and the hospitality industry. To do so, a comprehensive literature review was undertaken, and questionnaires were collected from 137 undergraduates enrolled in a Bachelor of International Hospitality Management degree at AUT University and 74 managerial employees in the hotel industry. After an analysis of the data, the researcher examined and compared the results of both groups’ data with relation to the findings of the literature review. The following key points emerged from the research: most students expected that they would work in the hospitality industry after completing their course and supposed that their first work field would be in a Food and Beverage department at a management trainee level. The results of the survey show a match between students’ long-term career expectations and the working history of employees. Students also seem to understand the environment of the hospitality industry well. These results show that students organise well, planning for their future careers, and these results were similar with those of some previous studies (Brien, 2004; Harkison, 2004b; Jenkins, 2001). The results of this study identified similarities and differences of perceptions between undergraduate students and managerial employees in the hotel industry. Similarities of students’ perceptions and managerial employees’ perceptions are; • Commitment is rated as the most important factor in determining success, while personality is rated the most important attribute for an employee in the hospitality industry. • A degree in hospitality management is not recognised as an important qualification by students or employee respondents. Working experience is more important than a bachelor degree of hospitality management for a prospective employee. • Students and managerial employees believe that the hospitality educators know the industry well, although educators and employees have different understandings of career expectations. • Both parties believe that internship might help hospitality students’ careers in the industry. Differences of perceptions between undergraduate students and managerial employees are; • Students believe that knowledge of the industry and experience are the most significant factors for a new employee in the hospitality industry but employees indicate personality. • Employees believe that using initiative skills are the most important factor for an employee’s career development, whereas students answer communication skills. • Students believe that a hospitality management bachelor degree will contribute more to the hotel business but employees believe that having three years’ experience will contribute more. • Students consider that an employee with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality will receive higher starting salaries than someone without, but employees disagree. • Students suggest that a bachelor of hospitality management degree will affect opportunities for promotion, but employees do not share that opinion. This study found that even if students and managerial employees share some common opinions, many gaps still exist between them. Therefore, the researcher suggests recommendations relating to students’ expectations and assumptions of their job entry level, the working environment in the hospitality industry, the needs of the hospitality industry, and the value of a bachelors degree of hospitality management. Furthermore, the researcher identifies some limitations of this study and areas for further research.

Introduction: What would a Swedish upper secondary student say if suddenly, meditation was introduced as an optional addition to his or her schedule. Would they be optimistic and see it as an opportunity for relaxation in their hectic day? Or would they be of the opinion that meditation is a religious practice and should not be allowed in a secular school? Perhaps they would think neither, instead holding a more neutral opinion? This was the central question for this questionnaire study. It was asked based on the reaction yoga received when it was introduced in a Swedish school, as some adults saw it as a religious practice. Later it was decided by the School Inspection that it was to be allowed, as attendance was completely voluntary.Method: The questionnaire in this study used four closed questions to get information on the attitude of upper secondary students towards meditation in schools, their interest in attending the hypothetic meditation and the most frequently used arguments for and against it. The questionnaire was modelled after Alan Brymans book Social research methods. After the questionnaire was finalized, it was sent out to mentors of third year students of several high schools in Västerbotten County. The goal was to get 100 responses from upper secondary school students, in the end 78 responses were obtained. The results of the questionnaire were presented in circle and bar graphs.Results: The gathered information showed that a majority of the surveyed upper secondary students had a positive attitude towards meditation in their schools. Among the most frequently used arguments pro and against the meditation, the most frequent argument for the inclusion of meditation was that it would be an opportunity for relaxation. Of the arguments against the inclusion of meditation the most frequent was that it would take up unnecessary space in their schedule.Conclusion: Through the information gathered with the questionnaire we can see a theme of positive attitude from the students. A clear majority of them are either interested in trying meditation, sees it as a useful tool, or simply has a positive view of it while perhaps being less interested of trying it themselves.

Vliv přerušení chladírenského řetězce na růst mikroorganismů v mléce / Influence of cold chain interruption on microorganisms growth in milkBEEROVÁ, Michaela January 2016 (has links)
Raw milk is one of the most monitored product not only in terms of microbial, but also in terms of technology, chemistry and sensory. The aim of the thesis was the examination of the influence of cold chain interruptions on dynamic of total bacteria count (TBC) in raw cow milk. The results show that the temperature and time have a significant impact on TBC. The samples stored during the first three hours of experiment at 15 °C showed (in time 0 - 27 hours) a continuous growth with changing dynamic (5.13, 6.66, resp. log CFU/ml). The samples stored at 30 °C showed a significant increase, however there was a decrease between an hour of 25th and 26th (6.88, 6.69, resp. log CFU/ml). An hour later another increase was found (to 7.37 log CFU/ml). The samples stored at 6 °C showed the lowest values of TBC, although an increase was found after 24 hours (5.87 log CFU/ml). The second part of the thesis was an evaluation of the questionnaire survey among people consuming raw cow milk from a vending machine. The survey showed that more than a half of respondents (88%) interrupt the cold chain for no more than an hour. Then it was found that 75% of respondents do not overcook raw milk. The consumers appreciate the taste of raw milk (35%), freshness (19%), quality (16%), and a nutritional value (12%).

This diploma thesis deals with the study of the impact of agro-tourism on employment in rural areas. At first deals with the description of tourism, its basic species and forms. However, the greatest attention is paid to agrotourism, its history, development, negatives and positives, its significance and possible types. The following chapters are aimed at defining rural areas, describing subsidies that help to develop rural areas and also describing the diversification and multifunctionality of agriculture. At the end of the theoretical part of the thesis is characterized the issue of employment, unemployment, its causes and impacts. It also provides information on the multiplying effect and the impact of tourism and agro-tourism on employment. The analytical part of the thesis is focused on the contribution of agro-tourism to employment in rural areas. The data needed for this analysis was obtained by means of a questionnaire survey conducted in the South Bohemian Region in agro-tourism farms and in the municipality where the farms belong. The result is that agro-tourism farmers provide other people with jobs on their farms, and thus partly contribute to the employment of the municipality. However, the greatest impact on the number of jobs offered by farms has a season. Agrotourism farms and their activities contribute to the overall development of rural areas, to a greater or lesser extent. And at a certain level they are also involved in the employment of rural municipalities.

Accurate forecasting and up-to-date warning is very important for the coastal people to protect them from the devastation of cyclone. Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) and their concern organizations have important role to provide proper and accurate cyclone forecasting and warning message to the people. The coastal zone of the country is the most precarious place to natural disaster due to its geographical location, frequent formation of cyclone in the Bay, poor infrastructure and insecure socio-economic conditions of the people. Accurate and timely warning, good infrastructure such as roads, transportations, cyclone shelters, cyclone preparedness training centers can reduce human vulnerability to cyclone in the coastal area of the country. Due to very high population growth rate in the coastal zone, new settlements are being built in the areas which were under agricultural land, forest or bare before. To study the people’s perceptions on cyclone forecasting, warning and management system in Bangladesh, two questionnaire surveys have been done, one with meteorologists of BMD and the other with the people living in the coastal zone. As land use change has great impact on human vulnerability to disaster so, a brief study on land-use change has also been done under the current research.
