Public Relations & Digitaliseringen : En kvalitativ analys av svenska PR-aktörer

Hellström, Oscar January 2017 (has links)
This study intends to explore and give insight in how the Swedish PR-profession has evolved due to digitization, in reference to the science expectations of the professions evolvement.Through qualitative interviews, six Public Relations practitioners has supplied this study with the empirical basis which with an interpretive analysis generates a comprehensive insight into the Swedish public relations profession. This study has analyzed the PR-practitioner’s descriptions of their communicative activities through Grunig and Hunts (1984) four communicative models and with consideration to social contexts. The digitization and the emergence of social media is described by science as the beginning of a new communicative paradigm, which entails a development towards symmetrical dialogue that will generate mutual understanding between the organization and stakeholders (Grunig, 2009). This analysis shows that the Swedish public relations profession exhibit tendencies to evolve with scientific prophecy. The study also shows that the organizations still widely don’t operates with the symmetrical two-way model.

Problems and Solutions when Dealing with Street Children : A qualitative study based on experiences from Social Workers' in Bloemfontein, South Africa

Friberg, Amanda, Martinsson, Viktoria January 2017 (has links)
Based on qualitative interviews with social workers is the aim with this study to examine a social worker's perspective concerning their work and development with street children in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The interviews were analyzed thematically focusing on how social workers describe the problems and their work/strategies with street children. The result is divided in two themes; Problems and Solution. Problems refer to how the local context concerning street children in Bloemfontein are described by social workers. Solutions refer to how the social workers describe their work and which solutions that are available in Bloemfontein. According to the participant’s street children are viewed as victims, thief’s and naughty by the society. The social workers stated that the main approach of effort in social work with street children are trustful-relationships, negotiation and support. Therefore, a relationship of trust must be gained before the children can receive help. The participants divided children of the street in to types, the ‘manipulative’ child and the ‘naive’ child. The social worker’s tasks are to work with both types of children in order to create change and to restore trust. The findings from the result are analyzed from one of Helen Fuchs Bach’s theoretical concepts from The Exit Process. This concept is called the Turning Point and refers to that there comes a point where a change is needed which affects the former identity and role for a person. Understanding the results using the Turing Point has helped us understand the importance of creating trusting relationships and making each street child feel special in order to enable change in a street child’s life.

An Exploration of the Counselling Experiences of Women who Work in the Indoor Sex Industry

Velez, Camila January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this qualitative study is to enrich the understanding of the counselling and psychotherapy experiences of women who have previously or currently worked in the Canadian sex industry. I conducted semi-structured interviews with 6 participants ranging in age from 19 to 52 who described an individual counselling experience in which they revealed their sex work employment status. I analyzed the interview drawing from a Gadamerian hermeneutic phenomenological approach grounded in feminist standpoint theory. The results revealed 17 themes organized in 5 categories: (a) seeking counselling, (b) the therapeutic relationship, (c) disclosure of sex work, (d) counselling outcomes, and (e) recommendations for counsellors working with sex workers. The results shed light on indoor sex worker clients’ heterogeneous counselling needs, expectations, and experiences, providing valuable considerations for culturally responsive and socially just practice with sex workers. The discussion of the results reflects previous research studies, clinical implications, and suggestions for future research.

Negotiating with Dominicans: An Analysis of the Negotiation Style Used by Dominicans

Nardi, Nazly Katherine 20 December 2009 (has links)
This dissertation examines the negotiating style of the Dominican negotiator. The research presented is of qualitative nature -a phenomenology study- which looks at a single country: the Dominican Republic. Two major research strategies used in this research are (a) in-depth interviews with negotiators and observers and (b) a cultural survey instrument of Dominican managers. Data has been collected from primary sources, through interviews of negotiators in the private and public sector and through surveys completed by managers and negotiators. After distilling the interview through horizonalization and other qualitative analyses methods, within-case and across-case analysis were done to determine key findings of each interview. This dissertation provides an insight into the cultural profile of Dominicans, as the foundation to create a descriptive profile of the Dominican negotiator.

Strong Intents Against Weak Links : Towards a Holistic Integration of Behavioral Information Security in Organizations with Strategic Intent

Koller, Teresa Marie, Ljung, Migle January 2021 (has links)
The human factor has been detected as the weakest link in the information security of organizations. Methods like training and awareness programs and the implementation of security policies have been developed, but they still seem to be less effective than desired. Authors have suggested integrating information security more holistically in organizations. In this study we discuss how strategic intent can influence an information security culture and improve information security behavior, thereby strengthening the weakest link. This thesis aims to develop a conceptual framework for organizations to integrate behavioral information security holistically with strategic intent. This thesis is based on a qualitative study with an abductive approach consisting of nine exploratory, semi-structured interviews. This way we could find today’s most prominent factors that might reinforce information security behavior in organizations and discuss the interrelations among those factors together with their potential facilitators and barriers. To improve behavioral InfoSec holistically in organizations, strategic Intent and InfoSec culture are promising factors. All factors have clear interrelations, but also potential facilitators and barriers.

Leadership at a distance : A qualitative study of managerial work at a distance during the COVID-19 pandemic

Hallin, Henning January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate management and leadership at a distance during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. Eight managers from a large industrial company in Sweden currently working full time from home participated in the study, of which six were women. Semi structured interviews were carried out and the data was analyzed through thematic analysis which yielded 7 themes accompanied by 5 subthemes. Not being in the same physical space removes informal interactions, and to combat this, formalization has increased. Tasks that do not lend themselves well to formalization, such as getting a feel for co-worker’s emotional state or creative work, were found to be more difficult. The managers workdays had a high number of digital meetings, and their way of working was changed through digital adaptations. While the availability of quality social interactions with co-workers was down, digital meetings were used to keep interactions up within the work group. While work environment management was harder, work requiring heavy focus was described as more efficient when teleworking. Overall, the situation surrounding COVID-19 has been challenging for managers, but the digital space has evolved quickly, and work has still been able to function surprisingly well.

När livet stannar upp : Att vara anhörig till en person som diagnostiserats med Alzheimers sjukdom / When time stands still : Being a relative to a person diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease

Solaka, Linda, Aljajeh, Nebal January 2020 (has links)
Background: When a person is diagnosed with AS, a drastic change takes place in both the patient's and the relatives' lives. The relatives become an informal caregiver, they enter into a foreign world of suffering. In order to alleviate this suffering, the nurse must have greater knowledge and a better understanding of how the relatives experience their changed lifeworld. Aim: The aim of this study is to explore how relatives experience taking care of a partner with AS portrayed in films. Methods: An empirical qualitative approach with direct and unstructured observations of three films has been used. The material consisted of field notes which were analyzed with the help of a qualitative content analysis. Results: Relatives' experiences of caring for a partner with AS are presented in four themes: when the lifeworld texture ruptures; sorrow; loss of freedom; letting go. Conclusion: Relatives feel a responsibility to care for their partner. Becoming an informal caregiver means a loss of freedom, social isolation and a feeling of loneliness. The emotional experiences are the main cause of the suffering. The films used in this study are a powerful medium that can be used for educational purposes.
